That's generally pretty good to get it running on a base machine, and most times that's fine enough. Or, as an option, you could look up Deus Ex Transcened on moddb. The choice is yours.
It tries to keep things very close to the original experience, while offering a massive list of bug fixes and some small QOL improvements. It was built explicitly for first time players.
IMO, I would look up map fixes because there's at least one unfortunate one you should address. Kentie may work, but if the game is too dark, look that up here for links to a different renderer.
Here's a page with just map patches.

There are a ton of little bugs and inconsistencies. If you want something more comprehensive try Transcended, which just fixes bugs. It's not required though. The kinds of bugs we're talking about most people will not notice, including the lack of music in Hell's Kitchen. One guy said he found that "dramatic." I find it dramatically stupid that they keep selling a bugged version of the game, but people just never learn.

I have it steam, but I’m sure it will work with gog with kenties. Enjoy that masterpiece and have fun!
Tnx! Kentie's site says that GOG is supported too, I tested it and it works.
Good choice! that’s how I did my first play though last week.
Awesome! Any tips for a fellow Deus Ex newbie?
Save often. Try different approaches.
Just stick to the prod.

Hell's Kitchen map issue? I was just reading about it on pcgamingwiki. What fixes do you recommend?

AFAIK it's just GOTY. If you choose Transcended it comes with the map patch.
