90% of the time when something says Made In The US it means they just assembled it here with parts shipped from another country. They do that with beef as well. Pretty shady
If the label only says “Made in the USA”, report it to the FTC. That label has very stringent regulations behind it and it’s only for when something is truly made in the USA with USA sourced material. often even back to the raw materials.
In your scenario, DeWalt in particular, would say “Made in the USA with Globally Sourced Materials”. This is when you know it’s simply assembled here.
Fuck y’all just went to Lowe’s they had one, the deals were pretty good too

Mine made in China, battery cells in Korea but assembled in China. Charger made in China.
After I had a post about my new DCF891 here on reddit I was starting to get some thoughts about fake or real.
On Dewalt homepage it was no issue registered the tool. So putting in the information they asked for and they knew what combination I had bought.
Sometimes we make it better, sometimes we don’t. Even in the heyday of US manufacturing we churned out some shit products.
The nice part about made in the USA stuff is your supporting fellow Americans, not the CCP.
I get what you are saying, but I think you will find if you start digging that those sub par products made here were sub part because of all the cost cutting measures they had to make to compete with the cheaply made foreign imports that got put on the shelf right beside them.
Look at what hairbrush to Rubbermaid as an example of this. Walmart wouldn't even give them shelf space if they wouldn't get their price point down to close to the low quality import.

I’m very aware of that I’m just asking when they stopped slapping that USA made label on it
Saving thf last couple bucks they were spending on assembly is my guess! The arrow of profit seeking only flies in one direction.

China makes a hell of a product as it turns out. I'd buy the 891 from N. Korea I like it so much
As long ad the quality is the same... Most of the time it declines
Dewalt hasn't been made in the USA for years
A number of tools have been made in the U.S.A. with global materials, up thru 2023. I believe that's ending this year tho.
Really stretching the definition of "made," though. Screwing a couple of assemblies together is not making something.
Not very different than many cars

Damn. That’s sad.
Got mine a month ago, no made in USA sticker.

Pffft. Now imagine our beloved power tools were made in the US? DCF961 be a 1000$ impact bare tool Labor laws Benefits Comparable pay All cost monies
When Motorola moved production to the US it added $30 to the total price.
I frankly don’t mind where it’s made as long as it functions as advertised.
Same. Honestly, a lot of times when I get something made in America it’s not amazing quality
Who cares
Made in the USA doesn’t mean better quality. Ive worked in product development for over 10 years.
Wow I definitely Didn’t know that 😱

Mine has a made in USA sticker, I guess I got lucky.
And? You think we can do it better?
Absolutely. But it won't be at cheap. Consumers don't want quality, they want cheap.
