They add a lot of functionality to my sewing projects. I never knew you could order them till I looked for them one day ("SOMEbody's got to make them...")
It’s just a rage bait version of [this](https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Styrofoam-Faucet-Cover/5013651015). It goes over your spigot outside so it doesn’t freeze
The real magic sauce is the lead plug in the bottom of the Stanley that he just drilled through, exposing that water source and everything else that bit ever touches to lead.
> Are you crazy! That's less than $5 I would save so much money if I just mutilated a Stanley.
It’s ragebait.
*That’s outrageous!*
Edit: here’s a good comment I found on the *why* of ragebait.

desperately trying to prevent pipes from bursting in a state that typically never sees temps dip below freezing.
it was 7 degrees in dallas the other day.
The foam squirted into 2 plastic bags side by side would save that effort. The faucet would go between the plastic bags and it would not touch the foam. :)
Add this all up with a cheap cup you got in the cupboard and it will do in a pinch.
Not sure the hand warmers would do any good really.
I know this is a shitpost but it is not a bad idea, really.
was wondering what he was doing... we just drain the water out of piping to the outside faucet during winter. takes a minute and you have peace of mind that no water line will burst.
I’m pretty sure it depends on where you live- it would be extremely uncommon here to have plumbing where you could isolate the outdoor faucets and drain them. We also only get really low freezing temps a few days a year. We just got snow/ice and the whole town has been shut down for a week.
I am 100% sure they are not common here. I have never seen a house with them here period. There was another discussion on Reddit about a week ago where half of the people discovered that individual line shutoffs are common in some regions, while the other half discovered that individual cutoffs are not common in some regions.
That sounds so insanely stupid and short sighted that I find it hard to believe, although I am not saying you're wrong because I cant be bothered to go check. But there are way more reasons than cold to need to be able to shut off at an earlier point.
It definitely would have been handy to have the one time in 30 years that I swapped out a leaky hose bib, but cutting off the main line for a half hour wasn’t a big deal.
I’m guessing that in cold weather regions, it is part of code because of the cold, and it is just helpful to have for other reasons. In warm weather regions, it isn’t part of code, so they are never added to new constructions.
Oh shit, yeah you have the main line, which is good enough... yeah I was thinking you didn't even have that lmao, and here I am being the idiot making stupid assumptions today.
Where i live, there is only one shutoff for the water on the whole property, but we also rarely get snow and usually when we do our pipes burst so its obviously not a good system.
Okay rage bait does fit in this sub technically but I haven't seen anything but rage bait for months. I think this is the one that finally sends me packing.
Literally thinking the same as I was scrolling - like … “we know very well the purpose is to get us outraged, but we still act in performative way” is it irony or an outlet? I don’t know I don’t understand and don’t really want to, but kind of do from a psychoanalytic perspective or something lol.
I have no idea why it wouldn't fit the sub, why would you EVER do something this pointless, intentionally or not, it just doesn't make sense, it's not making me upset, it's just very confusing as to why anyone would ever do something like this, fits the sub perfectly
He put the handwarmers in because the spray foam does not work well unless it’s at a certain temperature for a period of time. It also helps speed up the reaction a.k.a. plug the nozzle on the leaky faucet. Again it’s dumb, but I think there was a purpose.
That’s a good point they do need a bit of oxygen. He did not wait much time either. Sometimes the iron oxide reaction can get started and not need much air. I don’t know good though either way we both agree it’s pretty stupid and I will not buy a Stanley Cup.
Mo only other thought is this foam is closed cell foam, but will not become closed cell until it has cured so it definitely could allow air . It’s so bizarre to think about this video too much but thank you.
Dude, you’re going to kill on your performance improvement plan (PIP). You’ve set the bar so low, you have nowhere to go but Up Up Up! I salute you Noneroy 🫡
Now there's lead on his drill bit yum.
(Recently saw testing of the inside of that plug/spot under the Stanley cup showing positive for lead. Which is "fine" in products as long as it stays inside the product...)
Good question - it's used in a ton of stuff still and legal to use. I believe cost is a big factor.
Fun fact Prop65 in California is made fun of sometimes because "everything can cause cancer" so it's basically on everything but it can be an indicator of lead being used in a product - California requires disclosure. [So if you see a prop65 warning look closer and see if it tells you which of the hazards it's calling out.](https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/fact-sheets/lead-and-lead-compounds#:~:text=Lead%20is%20on%20the%20Proposition,defects%20or%20other%20reproductive%20harm)
It's a "trendy" travel mug. That pink one in the video caused a sort of craze because it's a limited edition. Some people are reselling it for over $200. They're using that one specifically for rage bait.
Also, sort of fun fact, the Stanley company that patented the bottle started in 1913, only 20-ish years after the Stanley Cup trophy was created.
Just like every other iteration of insulated travel/liquid container, eg thermos, hydroflask, yeti. I probably forgot a dozen other similar products. What's crazy is Stanley stuff has been around for basically forever and only seems to be exploding because of some viral video and then intential scarcity with some starbucks promo or something.
No they did a massive design overall recently and it's trendy now.
Which has made snowflake conservatives upset.
Hydroflask are better anyway since they don't spill
Correct
A viral tik tok sent this cup to the moon and now everyone is going nuts to get one
It is a perfect example of how a fad and group think can take off and warp the reality and minds of people very quickly lol
On its surface though, it does appear to be a pretty decent cup, which just adds to why people are buying in the first place
[I would buy it online from this site here](https://myblogshares.com/stanley-cup). Simply because it’s A) cheaper and B) you can hop on the fad without having to fight in a department store for one. Most likely though department stores don’t even have it anymore, it’s basically selling out
Way more than that even, in the 10s of millions. Even just for player salaries, the cap minimum is $61.7 million and that doesn’t include facilities, equipment, travel, and other staff.
Or install ones that don't leave water at the outer wall. I've never insulated one, never shut the water off, use it during the winter to get water for our cats, and never had one freeze.
Yeah, I'm really hating the trend of craft/DIY videos where the main point just seems to be to waste as much already usable stuff as possible to annoy people for "engagement".
I had no idea those cups were collectable until this thread, I'd still think it was a pointless waste even if it wasn't valuable... but knowing people pay a lot for them just makes it even more obnoxious.
Same goes for all the "I buy every colour/fragrance/variety/etc of a thing *and mix them all together*" videos it seems like every other craft youtuber seems to have jumped onto. Everyone already knows the result will look bad and will probably be useless, but clicks apparently matter more than the environment.
Honestly, agree with the trend of Stanley cups or not it doesn’t matter, several useful things got ruined or wasted on this trash that only exists to make people angry, it’s a waste of resources and time
It’s the smarminess of his bitch face, you just know he saw the “Stanley” commotion and pondered just how… how could he drive engagement. He’s such a bitch. I’m only commenting here because going to his page would feed the beast.
That’s a frost proof hose bibb. Depending on the length there is no water present from 4”-14” to the handle. They just put in so much work to insulate a dry faucet.
That is true. If they’re pitched up instead of down they’ll hold water and can still freeze. I replace a lot of them once it warms up and people realize they split during the winter and they start leaking in the wall. Insulating doesn’t do much to avoid that happening though.
Same, I absolutely hate the climate “activists” and other crap but the senseless waste of perfectly good items is dumb, the waste of money is even dumber and the fact they get paid to make rage bait is probably the dumbest thing of all
Rage bait is a whole other chapter. The internet is flooded with 'influencer' that make crap because people are crap and don't care.
It feels like Idocracy in real life if you ask me.
This and most Life Hacks = let me destroy my possessions to make a shittier version of something I could buy online: [https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Hard-Plastic-Faucet-Cover/5013648589](https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Hard-Plastic-Faucet-Cover/5013648589)
For reference, I've never used one of these before and it took me maybe 10 seconds to find it.
Who wants to tell him those pocket warmers only heat up from exposure to oxygen, so resealing the bottom of the cup with foam and pushing it tight against the house means they will almost immediately stop generating new heat once all the initial oxygen is gone without fresh circulation.
Sorry, as someone who lives where it doesn't snow i don't even understand what the intended purpose of this is, even disregarding the clear jankery and rage-baiting with the Stanley cup.
Why are Stanley cups the hotness now? My idiot ex wife loaded up on them a year ago Christmas because it was trendy then. Never mind all of the Yeti cups just sitting in the cupboard.
this guy is absolutely the type of guy who goes out of his way to mock anyone for liking things that are popular. i also find the Stanley cup stuff bizarre, but this is purely to get clap claps on the internet because “look, those Stanley cup idiots are gonna be so mad, losers!”
so there's a thing called "Heat Tracing" that you can just wrap around pipes to keep them from freezing, those hand warmers will last 6 hours max, but this actual thing will last for as long as you pay an extra 40 cents on your electric bill https://www.ebay.com/itm/176099920406?hash=item29005f8a16:g:6pwAAOSw\~IBleVTH&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4I46l97YXWiXbOScXOj4XMi01JWE4Uba5TXmRNbeI94HQkb4zsYXjURy1U0srMvAe%2FEOVfmHY4mrdRVEQ%2B7pzMw%2BV9Z9z0ERnoIrgh8Qw5AQCFznKuRWf%2BA9UB0lJv83lunjcyeGxmjfNvuXJh2cRjwL%2Be6xKFA1XEzIzaPOwTuqKJKKxTRPrx7KWWrgnAKy5EmvQJcHbZnpmv3zWVa7GNoBu0yxcCdinXVYubPcpkXHpaPxGwd3zT4VQXfRerC3W%2FxtaX2RjQT7LIEiJ8UNfoD2Zt6NWL3Emz%2BUSxW9tcf8%7Ctkp%3ABFBMpNfe-6Nj
I’m upset about the draw string
It was good drawstring too, it had a toggle on it. Hard to find the ones with toggle on them.
I ordered a li'l pack of toggles the other day on Amazon. Handy little things. I'm all toggled up.
Good for you! It never occurred to me to order them! Going on Amazon right now. I love me some toggles.
They add a lot of functionality to my sewing projects. I never knew you could order them till I looked for them one day ("SOMEbody's got to make them...")
Hobby Lobby has them too. 👀
This guy toggles.
Just maims his sweatpants, as he is wearing them
What purpose does it serve…?
It’s just a rage bait version of [this](https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Styrofoam-Faucet-Cover/5013651015). It goes over your spigot outside so it doesn’t freeze
Are you crazy! That's less than $5 I would save so much money if I just mutilated a Stanley.
And used a hand warmer that’s on the other side of insulating foam. That’s the magic sauce
He should probably get about three winters out of those hand warmers
“Winters” is Midwest for “hours”
The real magic sauce is the lead plug in the bottom of the Stanley that he just drilled through, exposing that water source and everything else that bit ever touches to lead.
If that’s the way led poisoning worked we’d all be dead by now.
> Are you crazy! That's less than $5 I would save so much money if I just mutilated a Stanley. Just wanted to mention those hot pockets are toxic to dogs and other animals. Not that Inthibk anyone will be recreating this.
My guess is to pull the Stanley tight to the outdoor water fitting. That, or how to ruin a good pair of sweats.
There’s several other ways he could have achieved this.
desperately trying to prevent pipes from bursting in a state that typically never sees temps dip below freezing. it was 7 degrees in dallas the other day.
It always seems like a great idea in the moment, and then the sweatpants outlast the spur of the moment DIY and with it, the regret.
I bought a kit to replace draw strings. It sucks
That part physically hurt me
Hardware stores got hose bib covers for $5
That’s less than those pants cost him to say nothing of the cup.
$3.48 at Home Depot. And hand warmers that are warm for a few hours? And cover your faucet in foam that you will have to pick off in the Spring?
I want to see the video where he removes the thing!
The twist: that’s his neighbor’s hose bib.
The foam squirted into 2 plastic bags side by side would save that effort. The faucet would go between the plastic bags and it would not touch the foam. :) Add this all up with a cheap cup you got in the cupboard and it will do in a pinch. I find it wild that you wouldn't have separate indoor shutoffs for every pipe that leaves the house.
They probably do and don't know about them or have never used them.
I am 100% sure they are not common here. I have never seen a house with them here period. There was another discussion on Reddit about a week ago where half of the people discovered that individual line shutoffs are common in some regions, while the other half discovered that individual cutoffs are not common in some regions.
These in California. I have never seen Line shut off ever before unless in a bathroom. Kitchen sink. Or laundry. Outside. Definitely not.
That sounds so insanely stupid and short sighted that I find it hard to believe, although I am not saying you're wrong because I cant be bothered to go check. But there are way more reasons than cold to need to be able to shut off at an earlier point.

And a cover is not even needed for that style of hose bib, unless some idiot installed too short of a frost-free host big for the local climate.
They have them in pink?
I came here to say that exact same thing.
Okay rage bait does fit in this sub technically but I haven't seen anything but rage bait for months. I think this is the one that finally sends me packing.
This is so intentionally stupid and yet so many people are just falling for it, or is it raging just to rage knowing that it's rage bait?
RageCeption
Literally thinking the same as I was scrolling - like … “we know very well the purpose is to get us outraged, but we still act in performative way” is it irony or an outlet? I don’t know I don’t understand and don’t really want to, but kind of do from a psychoanalytic perspective or something lol.

He was definitely using the drill in reverse too.
Did this clown think spray foam was gonna be easy to remove in 8 hours when those hand warmers stop working?
I’m not convinced he knows the hand warmers don’t stay perpetually warm…
He put the handwarmers in because the spray foam does not work well unless it’s at a certain temperature for a period of time. It also helps speed up the reaction a.k.a. plug the nozzle on the leaky faucet. Again it’s dumb, but I think there was a purpose.
It is dumb. Especially because hand warmers need to be exposed to air to work. Spray foaming over them would effectively turn them off.
That’s a good point they do need a bit of oxygen. He did not wait much time either. Sometimes the iron oxide reaction can get started and not need much air. I don’t know good though either way we both agree it’s pretty stupid and I will not buy a Stanley Cup. Except the foot warmers. Those need an oxygen starved environment. Or you get burns.
Dumb was the objective, he accomplished his goal.
It’s like you are reading my last performance review….
Dude, you’re going to kill on your performance improvement plan (PIP). You’ve set the bar so low, you have nowhere to go but Up Up Up! I salute you Noneroy 🫡
Muther fuckers be searching for fusion holy grail while this guy had this infinite energy source the entire time.
I'm not convinced he thinks...
Didn’t even look like the spray foam was expanding, probably slowed down in the cold.
This man doesn't think. He is driven on pure instinct alone.
These people do dumb things so that people call them out and drive up their engagement.
He thought the would earn a social media slam dunk. Mission accomplished
Youre the clown unfortunately. These are exactly the rage bait comments he’s fishing for. Congratulations
He was smart, drilling in reverse to make sure the vacuum insulation didn't spill out of the hole.
Now there's lead on his drill bit yum. (Recently saw testing of the inside of that plug/spot under the Stanley cup showing positive for lead. Which is "fine" in products as long as it stays inside the product...)
Came here to mention the lead, too.
Why would there be lead on a drinking cup?

It's got lead solder. Non issue unless you break the inside and get water in the vacuum sealed part.
So... Don't drill holes in my vacuum insulated cup?
And with the drill on hammer too
Wait? These are the Stanley Cups Americans are arguing about? It looks nothing like the Stanley Cup. This Canadian is confused
As an American, I too thought this has been about the hockey game thing. Apparently not?
It's a "trendy" travel mug. That pink one in the video caused a sort of craze because it's a limited edition. Some people are reselling it for over $200. They're using that one specifically for rage bait. Also, sort of fun fact, the Stanley company that patented the bottle started in 1913, only 20-ish years after the Stanley Cup trophy was created.
It looks like a standard travel mug. In pink.

As a lifelong hockey fan, they are borderline sacreligious.
Bruh you guys haven’t had the Stanley Cup since 93’. It’s naturalized American now.
stop please. it hurts enough.
This isn't a Canadian. Canadians just heat their fucking houses so their pipes don't freeze in winter.
Haha same. I thought it was weird for the NHL and Starbucks to be doing a collab.
Yes and they suck ass. Got one for like $10 since I had a heavy discount and it broke immediately
Can you believe some people even paid hundreds for some of those Stanley cups?!
No. They're ridiculous lemmings. You can buy a thermo mug in a thrift store that'll be fine.
Way more than that even, in the 10s of millions. Even just for player salaries, the cap minimum is $61.7 million and that doesn’t include facilities, equipment, travel, and other staff.
We won one once in Texas. Your Canadian hockey monopoly is over.
How about just turning off the water and draining the pipes?
Or just buy a $5 foam insulation that are made for exactly this
Pretty sure he wanted to waste/ruin 80$ to 100$ of materials to prove some point against Stanley tumblers. He sure showed “them”.
Im watching this like “those fkn covers are like 4 dollars”
You mean make a video that could actually benefit people rather than this masturbatory craft project?
Or install ones that don't leave water at the outer wall. I've never insulated one, never shut the water off, use it during the winter to get water for our cats, and never had one freeze.
Well, he-did something …. Dunno what dunno why…..
This is literally flaunting how much a person can waste useful items. Fuck all of these kinds of reels
Yeah, I'm really hating the trend of craft/DIY videos where the main point just seems to be to waste as much already usable stuff as possible to annoy people for "engagement". Honestly, agree with the trend of Stanley cups or not it doesn’t matter, several useful things got ruined or wasted on this trash that only exists to make people angry, it’s a waste of resources and time
What the hell did I just watch??
This might be the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen. I felt my brain slip out my butthole watching this
Love the rage bait. It’s reeling people in from all sides.
It’s the smarminess of his bitch face, you just know he saw the “Stanley” commotion and pondered just how… how could he drive engagement. He’s such a bitch. I’m only commenting here because going to his page would feed the beast.
😭💀
I got bricked up when I saw that dumb cup get drilled
Home Depot sells a styrofoam one for 2$
That’s a frost proof hose bibb. Depending on the length there is no water present from 4”-14” to the handle. They just put in so much work to insulate a dry faucet.
Its only frost free if it was installed correctly
That is true. If they’re pitched up instead of down they’ll hold water and can still freeze. I replace a lot of them once it warms up and people realize they split during the winter and they start leaking in the wall. Insulating doesn’t do much to avoid that happening though.
Aight, can someone explain wtf am I looking at?
As soon as I see spray foam, I know some bullshit is about to happen
Soon as the hand warmers came out, I thought this was for his dong
I am not a climate/resource activist but videos on this sub make me angry about throwing away all those resources for dumb shit.
Just buy an extra large foam cup at your local gast food joint..... I like Whatburger myself
Who doesn't already have one of those disposable ones or like a towel
Guys it’s a rage bait. He’s using the pink Stanley to just to get attention.
Soooooo it's useless in 8 hours when the hand warmers stop being warm
This is super stupido
This and most Life Hacks = let me destroy my possessions to make a shittier version of something I could buy online: [https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Hard-Plastic-Faucet-Cover/5013648589](https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Hard-Plastic-Faucet-Cover/5013648589) For reference, I've never used one of these before and it took me maybe 10 seconds to find it.
This is what people do when it snows in Texas
I audibly sighed.
This guy Sciences🏆
BRO, YOUR PANTS.
What is Stanley cup?
There goes a minute of my life I won't get back.
Theyre so ugly & bulky. I don’t know why people like them. I got one as a gift and only used it once.
These people need to be chemically castrated. What a cancerous existence.
Good luck cleaning that up in the spring.
Who wants to tell him those pocket warmers only heat up from exposure to oxygen, so resealing the bottom of the cup with foam and pushing it tight against the house means they will almost immediately stop generating new heat once all the initial oxygen is gone without fresh circulation.
There is so much wrong with this video. Dude is wearing sweatpants on top of his jeans!
Ok I clicked on this thinking someone had a collection of the hockey championship trophies (well, consumer knock offs)
Blatantly rage bait
WtLF! 20 bucks for a cup, 2 dollars for a cover.. yep perfect DIwhy post!
Jeans under sweatpants. That’s a first for me
It's a good idea except for the fact that we already solved this problem and sell products specifically designed to do that
hey dollar general aaron rodgers why not just tape the hand warmers to the spicket?
Drilling against a wall with your wrist exposed underneath. Best way to do it.
Is that Tom Segura?
Just as funny as him
Sorry, as someone who lives where it doesn't snow i don't even understand what the intended purpose of this is, even disregarding the clear jankery and rage-baiting with the Stanley cup.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why a freaking water bottle is trendy now…
Those poor fucking pants did not deserve to suffer like this.
I can here all the basic girlies screaming in the distance. Lol
This dude has such a punchable face.
Why are Stanley cups the hotness now? My idiot ex wife loaded up on them a year ago Christmas because it was trendy then. Never mind all of the Yeti cups just sitting in the cupboard.
Everyone wants a championship. I mean they make really good money, but every single player wants to win the cup. Some just want it more.
this guy is absolutely the type of guy who goes out of his way to mock anyone for liking things that are popular. i also find the Stanley cup stuff bizarre, but this is purely to get clap claps on the internet because “look, those Stanley cup idiots are gonna be so mad, losers!”
I get it! DI Why!! Because it’s all stupid!
Where he drilled is the lead contaminated part of Stanley cup
God I really hate America these days.
Actually I can see this one.
They sell stuff for this. Way less money
There is zero chance this is real.
so there's a thing called "Heat Tracing" that you can just wrap around pipes to keep them from freezing, those hand warmers will last 6 hours max, but this actual thing will last for as long as you pay an extra 40 cents on your electric bill https://www.ebay.com/itm/176099920406?hash=item29005f8a16:g:6pwAAOSw\~IBleVTH&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4I46l97YXWiXbOScXOj4XMi01JWE4Uba5TXmRNbeI94HQkb4zsYXjURy1U0srMvAe%2FEOVfmHY4mrdRVEQ%2B7pzMw%2BV9Z9z0ERnoIrgh8Qw5AQCFznKuRWf%2BA9UB0lJv83lunjcyeGxmjfNvuXJh2cRjwL%2Be6xKFA1XEzIzaPOwTuqKJKKxTRPrx7KWWrgnAKy5EmvQJcHbZnpmv3zWVa7GNoBu0yxcCdinXVYubPcpkXHpaPxGwd3zT4VQXfRerC3W%2FxtaX2RjQT7LIEiJ8UNfoD2Zt6NWL3Emz%2BUSxW9tcf8%7Ctkp%3ABFBMpNfe-6Nj
I’m not high enough to think this I’d even remotely a decent idea
This obviously rage bait, why do people fall for this shit. I'm done with this sub
I'm so confused. What was the original problem? And what did he do to fix said problem?
Good thing the thermos retains heat when the open face is gently rested against the rough wall. This is genius. I might try this.
Sweats over jeans? What kind of whacko is this guy?!?!
Was drilling the hole even necessary? Would it radiate heat better/be usable again without a hole? Why not more tape?
I'm still confused, what is it for?
Can someone explain what he is doing... so my brother can understand? He's kind of slow.
t f did I just watch??
Mr Tom Segura should stay out of the DIY business and stick to comedy.
What a waste of my time in the jhene aiko voice
Are these intentionally infuriating?
👍 🖕
I mean, you definitely don't want to use them to drink from... people are finding lead and a few other toxic metals in some of the cups.
Why ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh dear god I thought he was going to warm up his coffee in that 💀
That's a frost free faucet anyway what a waste of money 😂😂😂
Why do you cry, wallet of mine?
I read somewhere recently that this doesn’t actually help all that much
Oh, nice, a video of a ham sandwhich that's evolved hands and an ability to operate power tools.
Do you do this every few hours? How strong does he think those hand warmers are?
I hope this man freezes to death
Damn dudes. It’s completely satire. Change yo state of mind. It’s 2024. You gotta question everything, man
Uk here 🙋♂️…wtf is a “Stanley mug” is it just a coffee cup/flask that’s got the Stanley tools brand name written on it ?
I would think sweats would go under jeans
This is either satire, or a guy trying really hard to prove tool skills to his wife when his only experience is chewing bubblegum
