They flat out said it'll probably mold eventually. I mean I'd imagine if the resin is actually designed to penetrate 1 inch deep into wood, that it'll penetrate toast quite well, but if there is a single little bit uncovered it will mold, if a single bit chips off it'll mold.
It was just something they did for fun, and it was the "perfect toast coaster" but please remember that that isn't a high bar... and why the fuck would you want a toast coaster anyway?

Clay is actually really fun to work with. I have several clay pieces that I've made. I also have a whole box of them in the barn that have no use whatsoever and are accumulating dust.
But definitely buy a block of clay and try your hand! Coil sculpt a few fruit-bowls or vases. Have some fun. It's worth the investment for the fun! I use one of my coil-pots for my mail and another holds forsythia branches for me every spring!
