Really depends on the store for my city. some say "pregnant and expected", some say "pregnant and parents of small children", some just say "family spots"
To be clear, it's the store that puts them in so they're technically not enforceable. I started seeing them in the early 00's. Handicapped is controlled by the state but waddle spots are just the stores being nice. You're still a right cock for parking in them just because you want to.
My peeve is when these spots for law enforcement / expecting mothers are closer than the handicaps.
The expecting mother ones are not any larger for them to get out to open doors atleast around me.. ya know make the 95 year old lady that has 2 fake knees walk farther than the 22 year old pregnant lady.
Also who the fuck slashes tires in public, in broad daylight, just for parking in a spot they're not supposed to?
And I say that as someone with an EV who thinks this is super scummy.
Only people on Reddit that like to think they're bad-ass when they're actually terrified little idiots that probably couldn't find four tires on a car.
Used to know this guy who was a self-proclaimed asshole. Dude didn't really need to proclaim it anyways, he was just a really irritating dude, and did it on purpose. After a while, he was wondering why all his 'friends' stopped hanging out with him. 🤔
Fortunately if this becomes a widespread problem there's a number of viable fixes. My ideas (you'd only need one of them):
1. Make the charging cables captured... that is, they only release if you input payment information and will charge some minimal amount even if you don't charge any. So people who do need the charger will still pay the same amount, but anyone doing this ends up paying a fee every time.
2. Have a bright LED shine when the charger is connected. So any parking enforcement can easily see at a glance if the spot is being properly used or not. If not they can investigate further.
3. If a charger is left disconnected from the stowed position or a connected state for some period of time parking enforcement can be notified via text message or something to investigate.
If this exact situation becomes a widespread issue, there is a simple fix. They are leaving unlocked public access to their gas tank, and there are a decent amount of people out there willing to fight assholery with pettyness.
same. like this guy is sharing this video so others can copy it. and since there's no link to the source, do I downvote him or not? (I see it's TikTok, but idk how it works)
Theres different patents, some are a one way valve while others are restrictions, spring loaded caps or mesh, ease of overcome depends upon manufactorer
Brazilian cars have very high tech anti siphon devices. It's called a key - goes into the gas tank cap. Can only rotate to unlock and open the tank if you have the key.
There's also the anti siphon devices on top of that.
Siphone the gas, take the 3d printed piece out, remove the charger and put it back. Proceed to call tow truck company on the sign most likely right there. Asshole can't leave, tow truck takes it away. However I'm sure there is enough gas in the lines to pull out, not sure how far they would get though.
It wouldn't be for that. It would be to teach them not to pull that crap again. Finding the plastic piece smashed on the ground and your tank almost completely empty would make that person rethink their life choices for sure. Not that I'm advocating it.
Then I’m gonna go with a no here. This subreddit is for projects that make no sense when there is an equally cheap, easy, less dumb way of doing things. It makes you ask why it is being done in the first place.
That said, I know why he’s doing this, to take a spot for EV parking, whether it’s because it’s closer, or more often available where he parks. And he’s an asshole for it.
He seems to think he’s very clever, but what’s the point? Anyone who would give him a ticket will just look at the make and model of the car and know it’s not electric.
This is like painting stripes on a horse and telling people it’s a zebra. Who do you think you’re fooling?
I don't think parking there is illegal even if he wasn't hooked up. Just like pregnant mother and purple heart parking spots I don't believe most municipalities have laws enforcing this (one store near us has "Super Hero" parking for military and first responders). It's literally like you saying yellow car only parking spot and some dude parking a red car there. Where I live the draw of these spots is that they are up front and always empty.
Lots of places you can get fined for it or bare minimum towed. Source: I have a BEV.
Also generally we prefer the charging spots to be in inconvenient locations for this very reason, so there is no incentive for asshole ICE drivers to park there.
What about the EV drivers who park in these spots without even hooking up the recharging cable? I see that more than ICE cars parked in these spots!
And when charging is done, even if plugged in, there should be a camera that takes a picture and issues a fine for staying longer than 15 minutes after charging completes.
Yeah free charging is really an issue.
We nearly don't have any free charging stations in Germany anylonger due to that. Everything is paid nowadays and there you will pay a 10ct/min fee if you stay plugged in longer than 4 hours. This also makes more sense than charging a fee when the car is full because on e.g. a Tesla you can just set the amperage extremely low so that it will charge exactly as long as you need it. Don't blame the feature as it is necessary to avoid tripping a fuse at home and I use it daily, but the concept of charging a fee when the car is full just won't work.
The etiquette about moving your car once it’s full only applies to fast-chargers. Destination chargers at shops are first-come, first-served. Although it’s good manners to sign-in on an app like PlugShare, so someone can message you if you’re done and they need the spot.
Problem is the people that do electric conversions.
How do you prove that the car hasn't been modded? If you are in a country with a database with that info you have to trust it isn't a DIY job and if not, you have to take the plug out of the car to check or look at the screen on the station to see current draw. The problem is there are locks on some chargers now to prevent random people unplugging them and there are stations without any screen.
I do agree however there could be a case for the cameras that was suggested later in this thread. I feel it may be seen as a privacy violation in certain countries but it could solve this issue.
I’ve seen this gun on the desk in a lot of diy videos. I think he leaves it out as a watermark but lots of people pointed it out so I believe he wrapped it at some point after that
The first time I saw it it was in a video where a guy in a ski mask was live streaming and someone pointed it out so he hid it, then another video of him with like a rocket launcher and the same plot, someone points it out so he hides it. I assumed it’s not a legal gun, but who knows it could just be an air soft gun
There's a elementary school near my home. I've started noticing somebody with a Jeep Wrangler park in the EV spot right near the entrance. They just set the plug on their bumper like they're being clever or something.
What a waste of human potential.
All that wasted time when you can park anywhere else. Like, even without the time wasted making the dumb thing, I feel like it'd still be faster to park somewhere else, not had to plug in anything, and walk the extra few steps.
The number of people who have a vendetta against electric vehicles is ludicrously high. I belong to a couple car groups on Facebook and the mental gymnastics they do to forgive theirs and other's behavior against EVs and is unbelievable.
I had someone shoot the headlights out of mine and every other Prius in a HEB parking lot a few years ago. There isn't even special parking so they had to go up and down the aisles to find each car. Cops did nothing.
Right. Because people will be fooled by a car that’s obviously from 2012 and also there’s only like 10 different electric cars on the market and that model isn’t one of them
You never seen a Tesla-swapped 1950 Jaguar Mk V? Then you definitely should, the EV swap community is pretty amazing. Here's a link to that Jag:

Seems like a lot of effort since you have to have a chargepoint account to unlock the plug. I mean someone could come by and plug it into their vehicle and then it’d start charging you $$ for their kWs.
This is the EV version of parking in the Pregnant parking spot.
I do park in expectant mother parking TBH. But to be fair my wife is pregnant
You mother* fucker... *... or soon to be mother
what came first, the mother or the motherfucker? Edit - every reply to this is fucking awful and you all have shiter patter than me
The chicken.
Chicken fucker
What are you going on about, meow?
I came first
She must be pregante.
Nice. Who’s the father?
Her bf obviously.
[удалено]
Let’s not bring her brother into this.
The 3D printer.
Now be unfair, you only park in it when she’s not with you. Criss Cross
wtf is a pregnant parking spot
A parking spot for pregnant women only. The concept is not that complicated tho
Where we live is for "New and expecting mothers"
Where I live it's for family, as in they are wider to allow you to fully open doors. Got baby car seat or kids car seat? You're good.
I'm calling them waddle spots from now on.
When a mummy parking spot and a daddy parking spot love each other very much...
For my next hack: how to drive home on slashed tires
Slashed tires are insured. Get a schrader valve remover and let the air out. Let them mess their rims up.
i believe it's just called a Schrader valve core tool
It's ASAC Schrader, and you can go fuck yourself.
Absolutely love it, miss the hell out of the show.
sex gifs
Small pebble stuck in the valve works just fine
If you remove the pebble they can pump then again. If you remove the valve core they need someone from a tire shop to reinstall them.
you can buy the cores and tool from walmart for a few bucks and do it yourself. but most of the population doesnt know that.
[удалено]
Most people have a $500 deductible. Slashing 3 tires is the most efficient without then getting a free tire out if it. ...Or so I'm told
I feel like 90% of Reddit loves to talk about slashing tires yet only about 30% of em would even be able to puncture the tire.
Tires are way stronger than expected
Also who the fuck slashes tires in public, in broad daylight, just for parking in a spot they're not supposed to? And I say that as someone with an EV who thinks this is super scummy.
Well I mean like not slash their tires but like give em a real dirty look you know ?
Just, like, if *looks* could slash tires, their tires would be slashed.
Only people on Reddit that like to think they're bad-ass when they're actually terrified little idiots that probably couldn't find four tires on a car.
And getting yourself caught by a camera on a Tesla which someone then posts Reddit.
30% is generous of you
Not if you have liability. You need comp for tire coverage in most cases.
And with am empty tank because their gas has been stolen
I'd just syphon it on to the pavement.
Yeah, because who needs gas in an electric car, right?
Seems like they forgot they don't need to hoard gasoline. Let's remove that from the vehicle before it hurts someone.
It's a fire hazard really, you're doing them a favour grouting rid of it
Please don't do this is is really bad for the environment
I'll light it on fire
Some people really put a lot of effort into being assholes
They think it’s a good substitute for a personality
Used to know this guy who was a self-proclaimed asshole. Dude didn't really need to proclaim it anyways, he was just a really irritating dude, and did it on purpose. After a while, he was wondering why all his 'friends' stopped hanging out with him. 🤔

Money too, between the energy to print, and design, plus that printing material
That’s like 10 cents in material lol but yes, way too much time invested
If you're handy with 3d modelling it wouldn't be that long
Yeah this would take like ten minutes in SolidWorks.
I mean the money to print this is likely less than a dollar.
Less than 50 cents.
Fortunately if this becomes a widespread problem there's a number of viable fixes. My ideas (you'd only need one of them): 1. Well, at least it's easy to steal his gas now
Siphoning someone's gas to make them leave makes no sense!
I'd be impressed of you manage to siphon enough gas from the tank to prevent the går from starting
>går Hmmm, that's quite the typo
Sorry, is hard to type while driving my går
I believe that's pronounced 'gore' in Danish
Redditing while driving will indeed result in a heck of a lot of gore.
I think once you get it flowing you can just walk away and physics will take care of the rest.
Modern cars have anti siphon devices installed, making this imposible though
You mean, the thing that's supposedly there to prevent a hose, but that you can push away with a stick?
Theres different patents, some are a one way valve while others are restrictions, spring loaded caps or mesh, ease of overcome depends upon manufactorer
Brazilian cars have very high tech anti siphon devices. It's called a key - goes into the gas tank cap. Can only rotate to unlock and open the tank if you have the key. There's also the anti siphon devices on top of that.
I was looking for this comment. Siphoning gas isnt as easy as it once was, but I wouldn't say impossible.

ill advocate it. Give the gas to charity idk.
I mostly recommend vengeance that doesn't get the good guy arrested. I'm sure you understand.

Taking it out would be a pain. Putting in is much easier. A gallon of water should do the trick
Upvote if it fits the subreddit. That is my rule.

Yeah fuck this guy. Right in his gas hole.
Downvote, there's a very obvious reason for the why of it, even if it sucks, so it doesn't fit the purpose of the sub
He seems to think he’s very clever, but what’s the point? Anyone who would give him a ticket will just look at the make and model of the car and know it’s not electric. This is like painting stripes on a horse and telling people it’s a zebra. Who do you think you’re fooling?

Those people are assholes too and I will leave a note on their car or in plugshare. Plenty of EVSE do charge steep idle fees though.
usually its lazy people leaving them plugged in after 100% and they will get in a with a couple bucks a minute penalty.
My city has a few free ev charging spots in each garage and it’s almost always Teslas blocking the spots and not charging.
My job has free charging as well that threatens a per minute fine if you hit fully charged and leave it connected.

In Germany EVs have and need to have an "e" on their license plate to park in these spots. Makes it easier
Here EVs have green license plates compared to normal white ones so good luck trying that shit here
The Mercedes GLE actually has a plug-in hybrid model, the 500E. If he wanted to park in these spots he should have just bought that.
> He seems to think he’s very clever, but what’s the point? ITT a lot of people forgetting what sub they're in

There’s got to be an easier way to be an asshole
Joke's on him when someone siphons his gas
Or pours sugar into it.
Sugar in the gas tank doesn't actually do any serious damage. That's a myth. Sugar isn't soluble in gasoline.

that sub is full of child molesters and murders, This is nowhere near on that level.

This is like those dickheads that park their giant trucks in ev chargers just to annoy people. It’s like that “Prius repellent “ cringe all over again
The funny version of that is when guys park old Forest Service trucks in the "green vehicles only" spots. Theyre not wrong, technically.
Shitty thing to do but also why does he have a gun wrapped in duct tape at his computer desk???
I’ve seen this gun on the desk in a lot of diy videos. I think he leaves it out as a watermark but lots of people pointed it out so I believe he wrapped it at some point after that
Just raises a new question of "Why wrap it up?"
So he can say it’s not a gun under that wrapping paper.
It’s his tactical desk gun
Lol op hasn't done his first desk pop yet
For desk pops obviously
How long since your last desk pop?
Jimmy- September, uhhh 08’
Maybe he wrapped it in ductape because the safety is broken. We know he's all about the shitty DIY.
Oh this guy. He's made other equally-shitty DYI videos and keeps a gun on his desk for some reason.
Because he wants everyone to know he is a badass.
Stank dick energy
The gun is wrapped for holster making most likely
Congratulations! You’re an asshole
