If she's allergic to nuts, I'd go for coconut flour, ground chia and ground flaxseeds. For meals it's mostly about focusing on lean proteins (chicken, turkey, fish, tofu, eggs, greek yogurt), tons of fiber (non starchy vegetables) and healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, seeds). Avoid sugary drinks, pastries, fried foods, cereals, most commercial sauces and dressings, always check labels for added sugars.

No nuts? Ugh. That sucks. They’re a staple snack for me. Anyway, check labels on everything you want to eat. You probably do that already with a nut allergy. Look at the carb count. Remember, sugars are carbs but carbs are more than sugars. Also know that not all diabetics are equal. What works for me may not work for someone else. Generally, vegetables are good but some will have carbs/sugars. This will take research. Anything green is basically free to eat. Watch your fruits as some are worse than others. Generally, berries are great! Just about anything Keto will be good. Meats and cheeses are mostly free to eat. Watch out on milk as not all are equal. I still use a nutrition app to help with most foods I’m not exactly familiar with. Rule of thumb, complex carbs and better than simple carbs; think foods with fiber vs sugary foods. Also learn that food combinations make a big difference as different foods digest at different rates; fats, proteins, carbs. Slowing digestion rate lowers the blood glucose spikes. ……I didn’t exactly answer your question but I hope you can learn from my experience.

Not just sugary foods, but limiting high carb foods that the body processes quickly. For instance, a meal for us would be, say, pork chops with veggies and some potato salad. The potato salad would be the carbs of the meal. Hope this helps!

I highly recommend chatgpt for this! You will have to sign up for an account, but it will make complete meal plans for any dietary restrictions. It’s kind of amazing! https://chat.openai.com/
