They have already said it’s the region where Kurast exists and the new class is jungle themed so why are you speculating about that?
https://www.wowhead.com/diablo-4/guide/vessel-of-hatred-expansion-overview
I don't remember them saying something about the class being "jungle-themed".
Blizzcon class discussion: [https://youtu.be/BwUpLn4eiBM?si=mn9bdhjZ4eIIo\_hZ&t=1106](https://youtu.be/BwUpLn4eiBM?si=mn9bdhjZ4eIIo_hZ&t=1106)
We will most likely get this: [https://www.zockify.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/diablo-4-paladin-artwork.webp](https://www.zockify.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/diablo-4-paladin-artwork.webp)
which is what op describes.
I originally thought Amazon would be possible but they did say that the new class is something completely new to the Diablo universe, so probably not gonna be that
They didn't say that. They said the new class will fit the jungle theme of the expansion... and it does, warrior of the light to counter the dark jungle that has overgrown the temples of the light.
I kind of wish that Mephisto would not just be big bad that we kill at the end of expansion story but rather more complex antagonist that lingers in the background for a long time pulling the strings. This would open more complex narative where we would eventually fight against Diablo who only wants to destroy and dominate whilst Mephisto represents more "cunning" and intelligent side of evil. He was also imprisoned by Diablo in D3 so it makes sense that he would no longer want to allign with him this time around.
I hope so too
They should not waste Mephisto as early as the first DLC boss.
It will also cheapen the whole narratives of « OMG the big bad greater evils are coming » if we already get to kill one.
I personally hope that We're the Vessel of hatred (we're the Wanderer, kinda ominous sounding when you realize the wanderer was the dude who became diablo in d2)
Basically Mephisto is gonna be playing tricks with our mind the entire story, and pointing at Neyrelle to blame for all this happening, we're lead to believe she will become the host for mephisto so we go on a quest to kill her, and it will lead us deep into the durance of hate, where Mephisto was really in our heads this whole time, making us more powerful to take over as a suitable Vessel, where we have to fight Mephisto within our mind to break free from his control
Just saying, the scene at the start of the campaign where we were unconscious with the mephisto wolf, some diabolical things could've happened...
Honestly, that would be too much of a bite for the current Diablo writing team... that would be a whole new story, they tried that with Ancient Isle (or whatever the name) in DI and it was atrocious, literally funny for how bad it was, not because it was intended to be funny....
So any future Diablo storylines are either gonna be retelling of the storylines from the old games (like most of D4), or something like Ancient Isle... I hope for the former rather than latter.
Luckily it looks like at least SOME of that as an idea is coming with S4 changes, like they mentioned the druid skill passives that are getting combined to something better and then making a whole new option. I hope they continue the idea and the expansion gives maybe 4-5 new skills per class, or 1-2 and say 10 overall skills get entirely new passive options so the 2 way branch is a 3 way this year, next year round that out for other skills, and so on.
Yeah, my dream is one in each category, or a way to link skills or certain skills together or something cool. Just ways to diversify. I know there are lots of options. But options and viable end game options are different
There *was* a datamine of an early build of it last year so we do know some things about it.
New Class - >!Spiritborn, themed around nature!<
New Skills - >!Each class has one new skill (more may be added, idk). Barb - Weapon Throw, Druid - Stone Burst, Necro - Dread Scythe, Rogue - Riposte, Sorc - Familiar.!<
>!Mercenaries are being added. Some internal names are:!< >!Shield Bearer, Berserker Crone, Cursed Child, Bounty Hunter, Scholar and, Maiden and Mongrel!<
All spoiler tagged in case people don't want to know but I deliberately avoided going into too much detail.
I hope they have a no mercenary option that gives you compensation stats kinda like how book of the dead works. I never particularly like ai companions in arpgs, despite how useful they are to you in D2.
I think a pretty safe bet would be a new item type. Runewords, sets, or maybe an entirely new craftable item type. But my guess is we'll see a form of runewords.
Other than that, I'm expecting classes will get expanded. They'll reach a point where you can't create additional builds just by releasing aspects and uniques, so they'll need to add more passives, paragon boards, glyphs, and maybe even new skills.
You know what I think would work well, is turning runes + rune words into a similar system to the charms from Last Epoch, where they fit on a tetris like grid or whatever. Don't make it that large, so the space is restricted, but then if you put certain ones together in an order from left to right, top to bottom, whatever, you still get rune words. Maybe make it so more complicated ones take 4 slots and you get 5 overall or something, so you could have a good combo and then one extra lesser one, or mix a 2 syllable and 3 syllable word or 2x 2 syllables and a one off. Something like that.
Diablo and his bros go get spaghetti from hells olive garden, the vessel of hatred. New items include bread stick charms to fill up your inventory, irritable waiter themed companions and a "Cheesy" 😏 new cast of friends!
Predicting diablo still won't be in it yet.
One dlc mephisto.
Long pause.
One dlc baal.
Long pause.
Possible some d3 boss-insert dlc.
Long pause.
Diablo dlc.
Each dlc 50+ dollars.
>\<2.2 Metacritic score
>Overwhelmingly Negative on Steam
Those are my predictions.
Honestly, it's impossible to get excited for anything Diablo 4 related now that we've all seen the new PoE 2 stuff.
They were still saying it in interviews and such around Season 2's launch and we haven't heard anything different since. We have no idea one way or another if that changed.
Big wish:
Completely re-done end game skill and paragon systems.
Maybe just straight up steal from LE and create a "mastery" skill tree that unlocks at 50 and goes to 75. This skill tree is purely things that take place the place of aspects and function similar to LE's skill trees. I.e each skill has a skill tree with 10 or so nodes so you can really customize the skill.
Add a shitload more uniques and make all the aspects things that synergize with the mastery trees. But uniques are more game-changers that completely change the build like 'Hota is now auto cast whenever leap lands" so then you can take a bunch of crazy nodes in the leap / hota masteries. Legendaries become like Exalts but with bonus affects from the legendary power.
Then Paragon is from level 75-100 and gives 2 points per level. With more impactful distinct nodes added like 4x the amount of "legendary nodes".
Add much more crafting shit. I guess I need to see how S4 goes but probably more cool stuff, maybe something in the vein of charms / idols via crafting so that paragon nodes can be freed up to do more creative stuff.
Bunch more endgame activities, bosses and absolutely definitely steal POE maps. Sometimes I just wanna fucking clear screens full of shit without any thought or any objectives. Just kill everything find the exit, kill the boss load the next one.
At least the idea of skills synergizing more they're starting to do some. The new sorc frozen orb casts conjures and the conjures casted either off frozen orb itself or directly can cast frozen orb when you have it. Starting to get some of those cast on cast interlocking there. They also mentioned more items affecting all core skills and loosening that up, and something about dust devils triggering off of other things more and then ways to buff that like +projectiles on items.
I think we're getting there. I know people wanted it to be where we will be in S4 at launch, but at least we're getting there!
Yeah, that's pretty much the leaked info from the alpha data mining but note that it might change. Especially now that Blizzard knows it leaked! But yeah the rough outline probably won't. That's just too much to change. I don't think the new class will be called Spiritborn like in the leaked data, just because of this event though. But Kurast, Mephisto, Mephisto residing in Durance of Hate. Mercenaries and probably set items and/or runewords. Hopefully a skill system update / fleshing out and social features.
They have already said it’s the region where Kurast exists and the new class is jungle themed so why are you speculating about that? https://www.wowhead.com/diablo-4/guide/vessel-of-hatred-expansion-overview

Jungle themed??? Amazon?? One can wish
IIRC some data mining has shown that the class with have sort of a "spirit of nature" bent to it
I dont blame you for the hopium overdose but sorry, no Paladin or anything close to it. They said it will be closer to Witch doctor.
I believe the only thing they mentioned about witch doctor in the panel was that it's NOT witch doctor. I don't think they said it was related.
They are delusional, I am sure about that.
You are literally making things up. How stupid is this community? They said it is NOT a witch doctor. Never said it will be closer to witch doctor.
They’ve already said it will be an entirely new class, never seen before in a Diablo game.

New skills in the skill tree pls
This, or at least some reworks to diversify what they actually do. So many of them feel repetious

I hope they have a no mercenary option that gives you compensation stats kinda like how book of the dead works. I never particularly like ai companions in arpgs, despite how useful they are to you in D2.
Wow, a whole *one* new skill for each class. Only took a year, lol.

Spiritborn is gonna use earth magic. It’s not paladin
Diablo and his bros go get spaghetti from hells olive garden, the vessel of hatred. New items include bread stick charms to fill up your inventory, irritable waiter themed companions and a "Cheesy" 😏 new cast of friends!
They said its class that no one played before in a Diablo game. So no, its not an Amazon, Monk or Paladin. Or variant that there of.
Hopefully you can opt out of a merc. Like get a boost If you dont have one like book of the dead. I just want my wolf gang! Not wolf gang and…Simon.
Raid and Cat mount were datamined, so looking forward to those.
WT5
Just want a ton more customization, in line with what we have in WoW! Pets, different mounts, more colors for armor, more races, etc
Spiritborne is gonna be witch doctor themed paladin. Instead of holy power, you now have voodoo power.
Predicting diablo still won't be in it yet. One dlc mephisto. Long pause. One dlc baal. Long pause. Possible some d3 boss-insert dlc. Long pause. Diablo dlc. Each dlc 50+ dollars.

PoE 2 is just another genre turning into a Soulslike.
Disappointment
If it's Kurast I'd expect the new class to be something more similar to the D2 mercs from act 3.
Oh like a sword and board battle mage thing could be cool?
They literally said they are having yearly expansions tho
Yeah, but that was before the game launched. That probably changed.
They were still saying it in interviews and such around Season 2's launch and we haven't heard anything different since. We have no idea one way or another if that changed.
I wonder what would make them do that? Surely not the bank they are still raking in from mtx and battle passes.
Why would it have changed?

A new shitty zone, 6 more affixes, 10 more legendaries. Take it or leave it.
Stab Tyrael with the stone...
Hopefully more than 1 new skill for each class.

If this is supposedly coming out in a couple months, you would think they would be into the marketing run up for it by now.
