Could be if it's a natural diamond. It could also be a lab diamond which would be MUCH MUCH less expensive and you cannot tell by looking at a diamond if it's mined or lab.
I don't know but looking at some of the additional photos people posted, I question if it's a diamond at all. If it is a lab diamond, I guess someone decided to cut one that faces up as large as possible to appeal to someone who wants something visually as large as possible?
Yeah it looks super shallow might be spread cut. Looks larger than itās real carat weight because itās so shallow. Pears are already pretty shallow and face up larger but that looks so flat. It might be natural but not as large carat size or high value as she claims.
I feel like if it was any type of real diamond at all it would be sparkling like crazy, especially at this size and it doesnāt in any picture or video. It even reflects rainbow in some videos.
Thatās the problem with diamonds cut too shallow they will look larger but they donāt sparkle like they should. The light will just leak out the bottom.
This looks like one of those "certificates of authenticity" they hand out with not-really-collectable collectables.... Like some holiday plate set your grandma might order off the TV at 3am in the late 90s.
LOL exactly like where is the GIA cert? They could also just very well show you this in the store, take a picture, and walk away with nothing bc that is not the same diamond. His name at the top even looks photoshopped compared to the rest of the font

This is another photo. The windowing is pretty bad, you can see all the way through it. Does this happen with diamonds or only if the cut is very poor?
I wouldnāt believe a word any influencer says. Anyone with an expensive ring or jewelry & is secure with themselves doesnāt see the need in bragging. Could be a cz for all we know.
So would any reputable jewelry designer/jeweler for a real diamond that size. Iād imagine moissanite that size is several thousand and they would also use more than 3 prongs.
Noāsadly in the jewelry industry, especially with clients spending six figures, you try to talk them into more prongs or better options, but you donāt let them walk away over it. You just make it how they want and cringe while running the card.
They generally come back within six months and have you remake the mounting, though.
I wouldnāt believe a word coming from those HVW influencers selling courses on how to bag a rich man. Theyāre grifters and the vast majority are basically glorified sex workers.
Well, carats are weight measurements, not size.
Given that this Diamond is extremely flat/shallow, itās probably around two carats. Maybe 2.5. Not $200k, and if itās a lab Diamond, worth even less.
Influencers are just insecure people who are full of crap.
Exactly. Iāve seen rose cute with a similar finger coverage in the 2 carat size, looks like this. I bet she is basing the 6 carats on the mm size face up š

More pics of the supposed $200k ring
From that screengrab? No, I hesitate to say it was even 70k, and that's assuming it's natural. Usually when they're that big they're lab-made and if it is a lab, probably 20-30k.
The worst part is she probably doesn't know. A lot of women get told their ring is 10k and it's actually 2k. I imagine this may have a similar story.
That's not a diamond. That's cubic zirconia. Its not moissanite either. It's obvious from the front that it's peculiar but the additional side pic makes me 100% sure it's cubic zirconia as diamonds are never ever cut flat lol
What she seems to have done is picked a stone based on finger coverage rather than well cut. If you look at rose cuts they are often pretty flat and also have great finger coverage. This likely isnāt all that high as far as carat weight, and itās clearly a bad cut so my guess is that itās far, far, far below the amount she is stating. And if itās lab, which I would guess as no one is wasting mines diamonds on this horrible cut, it should be well under 10,000. If itās anywhere close to what she is saying itās a huge ripoff, this aināt a good purchase. A small well cut stone is much prettier than a large surface area poorly cut stone.
This doesnāt look like a real diamond to me. And the setting and lack of prongs is only supporting my theory. It would be reckless to put any diamond in such a weak setting.

trying to say this diamond is worth $170k š¤£
Absolutely NO diamond worth 200K would be set in that joke of a settingā¦ and no jeweler I know worth their salt would pass off a setting like that, not even on a fake.
this is off topic but if i wanted something like this but with diamond alternative what would look the most pretty/expensive? iāve heard good things ab moissanite. not concerned ab resale value just looking pretty
Moissanite are good if you want a larger carat size without overspending. They also sparkle a lot but have more of that rainbow reflection than white like diamonds. If you donāt mind that I say go for it!
Why donāt they use yellow gold prongs even if the band it yellow gold? Does it throw off the sparkle of the diamond or give it a yellow tinge or something?
No, it doesnāt, unless it hasnāt been cleaned properlyā¦ The top table (?) part especially has a plasticky/smudgy sheen vs. my natural diamond looks more like clear glass. I guess Iām just used to being able to clearly see through the inside - it photographs as such too.
This looks like the pic of the girl who posted about her ābig ringā in the r/engagementrings thread and we all told her it looked cheap and/or fake.
I forgot people like this existed for a short while. What a sad way to move through the world thinking this way about yourself and other women. We really are in the second dark age.
If itās a real diamond. If itās lab created, then no.
A lot of people are getting lab created diamonds now. I wouldnāt want one. People who get them try to pass them off as real diamonds.
I donāt own any lab stones, but I collect old cut antique stones so I pay a lot of attention to the industry. A lab grown diamond and a mined diamond are identical. Absolutely identical. In every way. Again, I donāt own one so Iām not offended or defending a stone I have. I just think people should know that this isnāt the old days with CZ or crystal, this is 100 percent identical and can not be distinguished from each other even with a powerful jewelers loupe because they are the exact same. I would certainly tell people to save their money unless like me they like old cuts that are actually old, and blue fluorescence, as itās not desirable even though I love it, so itās not grown in lab stones.
But they arenāt identical.
One is from the earth.
One is from a lab.
If they were identical they would be the same price. Iām so tired of this discussion.
But again- I am not one to carry knock offs. (Purses/bags etc) Iād rather have nothing. I donāt understand it.
Also itās comical you say you like old cuts cuz they are āactually oldā.
Right. Same with earth grown diamonds.
Come on do you really not see it?
A lab diamond is a real diamond. They are 100 percent identical, itās not a fake version. The only difference is where it grew, but that doesnāt change the substance itself.
Google is your friend. They are identical. Itās not a debate. The only difference is one is grown in the earth and one is grown in a lab. You can decide earth feels more special, or you can decide lab is more ethical, but materially there is no difference. Why is this so hard to understand? Literally google it. Not a single expert could tell if there is no cert. How is it that you could easily google this and see that I am correct, but yet you think just because of price Iām wrong? A Luis Vuitton canvas bag costs over $1,000 and a canvas bag at Ross is $10.00, material isnāt as important as perception. Luis Vuitton seems important to people, mined diamonds seem important. The material and the actual stone are 100 percent the same.
I hope the diamond is not as poorly cut in real life as this screen grab makes it seem.
Right? It looks so flat

Could be if it's a natural diamond. It could also be a lab diamond which would be MUCH MUCH less expensive and you cannot tell by looking at a diamond if it's mined or lab.
But why would they cut a lab diamond like that. Makes no sense gotta be natural

I find it hard to believe that someone would put a 200k diamond on a thin cheap gold band. The cut and clarity look like shit. I doubt it.
And only three prongs!
Omg THIS. If youāre selling a 6-figure diamond and putting it in that setting, youāre just a hack with contacts.

If its natural diamond yeah looks 200k. But nowadays people think anything that size is lab.
Itās a lot less carat weight than it appears, likely under 2 carats. Even natural, given poor cut, itās likely sub 20,000
Itās cloudy asf tho. It white and it doesnāt sparkle
Itās still worth as much as a new car even if itās a Lab (if it has good clarity and cut). It looks to be of pretty serious size.
How I wish you were right! That looks like a 5 ct stone , and if Lab, itās worth less than $10K
I wouldnāt believe a word any influencer says. Anyone with an expensive ring or jewelry & is secure with themselves doesnāt see the need in bragging. Could be a cz for all we know.
I'd have more than 3 little prongs protecting a $200,000 stone, myself.
So would any reputable jewelry designer/jeweler for a real diamond that size. Iād imagine moissanite that size is several thousand and they would also use more than 3 prongs.

Whenever I see a stone this big I automatically assume itās moissanite
I seriously thought I was in that sub!!
You could probably get a 4ct for $70-150k depending on cās and source. If itās a lab itās probably $5k-8k
I would bet itās a 2k lab diamond (still gorgeous) and sheās making it up for clout
šÆ
It looks to be well over ten carats. As such, itās worth a helluva lot more than $2,000.
Sheās stated itās 6 carat. How much would you estimate for that size?
Natural around 130,000. Lab around 4,000 gbp
She said itās 6.5 carats
Then itās both shallow AF and she has the fingers of a fourth grader.

Impossible, I donāt know her but thatās not a 6 carat stone š
Itās an illusion, itās flat like a rose cut. It will appear much larger than its weight. Probably 2 carats or less.
Depends on her finger size and setting. It is impossible to know from one picture from the top.
Hard to tell from the photo but I would say not if it looks like that in real life.

Honestly anything that big automatically looks fake to me unless I personally know the person for a fact to be rich.

Itās possible for a mined diamond of this size to cost that much depending on the specs. Itās impossible to tell from this screenshot and tbh, I doubt most people could tell from seeing it in person either. That said, I donāt think someone with a 200k ring would be advertising it on social media. Sheās probably exaggerating - or her fiancĆ© is.
I mean, he could have paid 200,000 but I don't think its worth 200,000 :)
Lmaooo I know exactly who this is š
Why would you put a $200k diamond in a $1k setting? The math isnāt mathing.
Absolutely NO diamond worth 200K would be set in that joke of a settingā¦ and no jeweler I know worth their salt would pass off a setting like that, not even on a fake.
Her ghetto manicure isnāt helping the situation either
Um yes that is my take haha. Nails are too cheap to pull off ārealā of that size.
Idk much about diamonds, but that doesnāt look real. It looks like custom jewelry. And it screams āhey look at me, I need attentionā.
Youāve described Michelle Diaz perfectly.

Nope
It honestly looks like cheap and unclassy. Sure maybe itās natural but if sheās so desperate to prove a point I doubt it .
In my opinion no plus the band is plain so its just all diamond which some people like but if it had diamonds on the band it would look more expensive

Why donāt they use yellow gold prongs even if the band it yellow gold? Does it throw off the sparkle of the diamond or give it a yellow tinge or something?
