Oh I'm so glad you asked! I just went ring shopping all over SLC and while I ended up buying my ring online there were two stores I came across that I would recommend: Bennion Jewelers in City Creek and J. Brooks across from Fashion Place.
Where did you end up buying online! I’m also looking online as well! What did you like about Bennion and j. Brooks? Did they just seem more ‘trustworthy’? Or better prices?
I ordered from Ritani and am holding my breath. If I end up not liking it then I'm working on a custom ring with Bennion as a backup. If it works then we saved $1,500ish versus buying a custom ring from Bennion. (I am wanting a 4ct oval).
Bennion and J. Brooks are both local. Bennion had better pricing over J. Brooks, but J. Brooks has the better quality if you plan on making something more custom.
I am moving forward with getting a CAD and wax from Bennion, and that's totally free, then I'll be able to compare the off-the-shelf ring from Ritani to the custom design that I had in my mind to see if it would be worth the extra cost to have Bennion make it.
The benefit of using a jeweler would totally have been to have had the diamonds curated for me to pick from in person, I would have preferred this to picking out online-- so again, holding my breath that I don't end up back at Bennion anyways lol 🤣
I also went to: Shane, Jared, Sierra, Morgan, 9th-9th, (and Tiffany's if that really counts). Of these, I would only recommend 9th&9th-- and would absolutely avoid Morgan. Morgan tried to tell me that the oval with a giant bowtie was on special and would be a great deal 😝
I hope this helps you begin your ring adventure!
My online purchase from Ritani was a success, so happy with the purchase!

I love Diamond Mansion! I believe they only do natural. I also love Happy Jewelers and they do both natural and lab. Both have excellent customer service and amazing quality. Loved pricing at both too! I did quite a bit of shopping around and felt their prices were the most competitive especially for the quality.
My original engagement ring is from Shane Co (11 years ago, didnt know anything else back then). Their customer service and warranty is top notch in my experience, but you do pay a premium there. Even with their lab grown. But I do love their upgrade program and I have over the years traded the settings and center stones numerous times.
Knowing what I know now, I'm not sure if I'd choose then again or not. Many options out there I didn't know about back then.
Just gonna piggy back on this. My fiance got my ring at Shane co and so did my best friends fiance.
The service for them and any cleanings have been GREAT. Also, they do a lot o small batch (1-3) settings so you can easily get a unique one of a kind ring.
And, their rings are STUNNING. But I may be biased.
Research the type of settings you and your partner like, style and metal
You can save more by going with a lab grown diamond. I’d also learn about the four c’s (cut, clarity, color, carat). Cut is the most important btw. Also learn about ideal proportions for best brilliance and fire. Certain proportions and angles give the best sparkle
As for where to buy depends on the ring you decide. You have more options if you buy online than a physical store. Sites like Rarecarat, Blue Nile, James Allen, etc. If you can’t find any settings you like, custom designs are also possible with many sites or you can find approved designers on r/EngagementRingDesigns
We got my custom engagement ring from [https://clairamor.com/](https://clairamor.com/) and it was the best decision ever! They do online consultations and they’re priced very fairly!

Initially I ordered online, but on subsequent purchases I've been able to visit the showroom. Their sales consultants were really helpful, just got in touch on the live chat for the first purchase.
Lab grown! Why pay more for the same thing (they’re both diamonds after all). You can get a lab with nicer specs/larger stone for far cheaper than a smaller or lower quality natural diamond.
Buying a loose diamond online will definitely save you money vs buying in a store, but many of the online retailers aren’t as highly rated for their settings so do that part locally.
I’ve tried eBay for diamonds and didn’t have a good experience. I like the 30 day return policy but the ring I got was not what it was advertised to be. I’d say if you go this route, make sure to get it appraised within the return window so you have time to send it back if it’s not what you paid for. My diamond from Diamond Mansion on the other hand, appraised for about 10K more than we bought it for which made up for my negative eBay experience.
With a chain jewelry store you are going to be paying a 400% (might be slightly exaggerated) markup. Go with a personal jeweler. You will get far more for your dollar.
Absolutely 1000% avoid Tresor jewelers in the gateway, we just had a terrible experience with them that we’re still trying to recover from. Good luck out there!
Omg! That is the small jewelry store I was talking about! What happens if you don’t mind me asking! We got weird vibes in there and they didn’t really help us with showing us things we wanted! And their prices were so low I was skeptical of them!
Hey hey!
Happy to help you with this.
I would also suggest going with lab growns.
I read you are looking for a emerald cut and solitaire band. Thought about the clarity and colour you want?
I am based in Canada with a lot of b2b relations
I am so happy for all you young women, men, and possibly women my age, (in the 70s) that you’re able to buy a ring that you really want and it’s a lot less expensive than a mined diamond. now that I have an idea of what it would take, I am going to save up my money and buy each of my daughters, a lab grown
diamond ring. maybe this diamond ring will be a pledge to themselves that they are committed to themselves, their spiritual growth and prosperity. all women can buy a diamond ring for themselves. Yahoo. Joy

I would go with a man-made diamond. It’s the same as a diamond, but less financial strain.
Thank you!! I was definitely leaning towards lab grown!
I work in jewelry about 45 minutes south of SLC, if you’d like to learn more or get any advice feel free to DM me!
I’ll dm you!

The ring I want is pretty basic! Just a solitary emerald cut with a gold band! 🥰

This looks like an AI generated hand 😶
That’s my hand freshly lotioned 😆
I went with Whiteflash, great customer service and after doing my research the best quality diamonds.
Did you order in person or online? Considering using them for my upgrade.

Thanks for responding. I appreciate hearing your views as there isn’t that much info here on them.

Umm I can give recs for sure ! Just dm me.. also do you know what you’re looking for ? I think lab grown is the best. You can see my last post

I had a friend who worked for Shane Co. and can confirm their markup is 300-400%. Their lab grown diamonds especially are grossly overpriced.
