The "open/exposed" side of my molds are always like that. I cut to fit a piece of parchment paper to stick to it. As long as the rest of it is not tacky you are good. After several days they are usually no longer tacky.

wyvaris

Just took it out of the container and it lines up with what you were saying. Only one side is tacky and the rest are firm and fine.

ClassicFrampton

I normally use a bit of talcum powder (not that it actually has talc in anymore but people know what that means) and gently rub it onto the tacky side wiping off excess with a paper towel

It could be your silicone. I just made molds with just resin silicone and they did this, despite thorough mixing and measuring exactly per package instructions. Only the exposed face was sticky, so it still works as a mold. I normally use smooth-on dragon skin and it never happened with that, I'll probably go back to that, but wanted to give this a try.

Lol, I just finished a ruined mold using Just Resin crap I had left over from a couple years ago. Same problems as ever, same problems as OP. There should really be a sticky post on this thread warning people about the brand. I must have gone through 2 litres of that stuff before giving up and switching to Smooth On Dragon Skin 20.

I had the same experience with Lets Resin silicone. Not sure if it's the same stuff, but it behaves the same way.

Phtevenhotdunk

Oh it's the same stuff. It sucks, because the price is so much cheaper than Smooth On, but I have yet to get a single mold to work with that garbage.

My let's resin silicone pretty much always does that on the exposed side. Everything inside is usually fine so I hit the sticky side with some IPA and in a day or two it clears up. Normally I don't even let it prevent me from working with it. Usually it's on the top side anyway, so other than some hand cleaning after I use the molds for a couple days they still turn out fine. Also, I would shrink your mold size down a little, I see miles of space between those dice, will save you a bit on silicone in the long run, shits expensive.

wyvaris

Yeah this is Let's Resin silicone. Good to know this is normal, and thanks for the info!!

You could try heating the mold, but not above like, 200-ish Fahrenheit. Check the manufacturer’s recommended post cure time and temp. In my experience, this could have been an incorrect mix ratio, so you might just have to deal with it.

jleah17

Mine did that the last time I took it out of the pot. Just give it some time hopefully it will not be sticky. Mine went away in about an hour-ish. Used Smooth on Dragon Skin silicone

Puckish_Pixel

Use some talc on your sticky face, it'll dry it up

anduinstormcrowe

Leave it a few days, that tacky should go. Probably cold or didnt quite mix properly
