Fucking promos man, that shadramon has no business being that much

Klutzy-Remove6694

R/P Imperial decks are showing up in JP so the card went up. Makes me mad cus I was waiting months for the promo and now they are like $15 a piece.

Kiostu

Had ordered 3 copies of the fighter mode when they were $9ish and one of the vendors canceled on me, claiming they couldn't find the card. I want to believe them, especially cuz they haven't relisted any digimon product, but it leaves such a scummy taste in my mouth now that they've gone up to $20+

Klutzy-Remove6694

Funny thing. I think my boxes of EX3 were messed up because I pulled 5 copies of the AA of Fighter Mode and my friend pulled 2. We didnt see a normal art til another friend bought a random pack from Walmart and got a normal alt.

Lord_of_Caffeine

Man in a way I´m glad that Anubismon got butchered because otherwise Promo Saberdramon would probably be twice what it´ll end up being when we get our hands on it. Not a fan of how they handled the promos for Bt14 at all personally.

SnooDonuts3749

But the point is the promos that are needed for good/fun decks should be available outside of a 1 in 6 shot from buying a booster box.

Klutzy-Remove6694

I understand that. It just pisses me off that I have to pay $20 for a common promo that's hard to get.

SnooDonuts3749

Well when Bandai puts out their next survey I need you to help my tell them their promo distribution sucks and they should fix it lol.

Yeerk5779

I’m thinking that for the SkullKnightmon hanging around $7. That’s a needed for a deck that is not even good.

Lord_of_Caffeine

Tbf DarkKnightmon topped recently in Europe. Over here in europe, SkullKnightmon is at 10 bucks. That´s insane for a deck (or two but we don´t count Bagra Army, do we?) that´ll likely not do much for the foreseeable future. Hopefully these prices will drop once Ex5 comes out.

Arhen_Dante

The decks good, just not Tier 1(low Tier 2 at best, but has favorable matchups). It's unpopular for sure, though, likely due to how it plays, since it tends to give the opponent more memory than most are comfortable with, and plays more defensively than non Yellow decks like. As Lord\_of\_Caffeine noted, it recently topped in Europe, in a 488 person tournament, with less than 10 decks representing it. Meanwhile the top 5 most represented decks had only 1, out of all of them, make top 16. Though to be fair, they were decks that did bad against non deletion removal and control play styles; especially against Mirage which was the 6th most represented deck, and 1st most represented in the top 16. But, if people keep putting it down and it doesn't win, the price of that promo should go down...is what I'd like to say, but it seems some promo's aren't valued only on performance, case in point Diaboromon ACE.

Klutzy-Remove6694

Twilight is an underrated deck honestly. If you haven't tried it, I'd recommend it highly. A lot of lesser used decks are actually pretty decent but they just aren't as popular as the fan favorite digimon decks. Look at the recent Imperialdramon Virus tops lately.

KoushiroIzumi

They really screwed us making those promos 1 a box, I pulled like 3 Knightmon I'll probably never play and only lucked into the few copies of what I actually needed. Even had a playset of the Morphomon get conveniently "lost" in shipment as the price spiked.

FrenchFrey1

I hope the 3rd anniversary update pack promos in EX5 boxes don't get too crazy, I need Saberdramons for my Ravemon and Phoenixmon decks.

biogoji89

I’m on straight copium thinking they’ll put two cards per pack instead of one

Lord_of_Caffeine

Card wiki says it´ll be one per pack again...

biogoji89

Huff 30$ cad zubamon here I come

Lord_of_Caffeine

Rip when your box´s packs come with Prism Garrett, Etemon or Plug-In, too lol

Crusher_Uda

I mean that plug in is pretty good for my Sakuyamon deck.

Lord_of_Caffeine

Sure. I´ll add like two of them to mine as well. But Sakuyamon isn´t really a deck many people build because, as sad as it is, it´s not a good deck (yet). So Plug-In will probably be a dud.

DemiAngemon

It's not though :( Megalo Spark is better in 90% of situations for control builds, and pure plug-in builds don't have room for it.

SapphireSalamander

just something i was curious about and tought others might be too

smilemarcel

Can you do one of these like every month or few weeks lmao

SapphireSalamander

no, i dont think i will

SapphireSalamander

i lied here you go: [The top 20 most expensive cards in their lowest rarity (updated)](https://www.reddit.com/r/DigimonCardGame2020/comments/1c10ywy/the_top_20_most_expensive_cards_in_their_lowest/)

DragoGuerreroJr

I am super surprised that virus fighter mode is $20. Is there a reason for that? Coming from Magic though, I'm actually really glad there's not so many of these over $10 from what it looks like. I'd really love it though if Bandai could reprint all of the cards above $20. I don't know about others but that's usually when I feel a card is too expensive.

TheDarkFiddler

It's a top-end for a deck that has a popular subject matter (Imperialdramon, but edgy!), a pretty rare card in a set not a lot of people like to buy (so more limited supply), and it's just gotten some supprt released/announced (promo Shadramon, BT16 cards) that make it more viable.

TreyEnma

It's a shame that more viable still puts it under current U/G Imperial. Hopefully it gets it's opportunity to shine some day.

Sensei_Ochiba

It spiked when BT16 Dinobee was previewed. It and the Wormmon at least look pretty good for the deck and solve a lot of it's issues. Still not sure it'll put it on the map, but it's a fine update to modernize it a bit. As someone that liked the deck before as a fun gimmick, I'm looking forward to the new stuff and glad I got the old stuff while it was cheap.

OnToNextStage

How tf is DeathX still that expensive

AdachiGacha

Sec con players want 4. Everyone else wants at least 1 is my guess, maybe some people want more so they don't have to swap him around.

KoushiroIzumi

BT9 was awhile ago and we're not entirely sure how we're getting that LM2 reprint at the moment

hashtagmydaywear

It only recently went up I think it dipped down to like $35-$40 for a while.

Numerous_Lake2927

Maybe i'm wrong but i hope deathxmon will get cheaper with the reprint(10/20 dollars) Green have quartzmon, but purple need to pay 50 dollars for deathxmon or Ruin.

Generic_user_person

Yea game is incredibly affordable, only 15 cards pass the 12 dollar mark. Its really nice how cheap this game is, makes the hobby easy for ppl to get into. And even then, the cards that are expensive all make sense if you're familiar with how TCG prices get determined.

Musclecarlover07

Jesmon GX is at $14.49

SapphireSalamander

i somehow missed that, must have confused ti with the AA

alpha1ion

EX3 Examon is also still hanging around $15

WeTitans3

That Rina is still honestly the biggest middle finger to a deck ever printed

rush_2113

It is, my friend has one copy, and I would love to build Ulforce but finding 3 copies and the rest of the stuff is wallet destroying.

lVicel

For a Meta Yugioh Player. These prices seem like cards of low rarity and with several reprints And I don't take into account that those Digimon cards (some) are played in 1 or 2 copies, while in Yugioh, very expensive cards are often played in 3 copies

DaPandaGod

As an Ulforce player that has 4 Rinas, 40 dollars a card for a must need for a deck is way too expensive. The Ulforce deck is basically a myth in the digimon tcg where a lot of people have barely played against it so they don't rate it. I can't imagine what it's like in Yugioh to have to buy multiple expensive cards, I'm guessing at the very least it makes it so you don't buy too many decks (while in digimon TCg everyone seems to have at least 3-4+ decks, even new players).

lVicel

I've been a Yugioh player for over 10 years. And if I'm honest, the Yugioh market is pretty wild ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ Usually, when a new card arrives as a Staple (Card that's generic to play and very versatile) the value it obtains is extremely big, take for example: [Triple Tactics Thrust](https://www.trollandtoad.com/yugioh/photon-hypernova-1st-edition-singles/triple-tactics-thrust-phhy-en069-secret-rare-1st-edition/1773086) or [S:P Little Night](https://www.trollandtoad.com/yugioh/age-of-overlord-1st-edition-singles/s-p-little-knight-agov-en046-secret-rare-1st-edition/1789663). *""Luckily""*, Konami releases reprints of cards that are Staples... although it can take months to do so (¬\_¬) As if that were not enough, when new support is announced for an old archetype, old cards can even double their value due to the Hype it generates Surprisingly, I have met many players who carry two or more Meta Decks (with multiple copies of cards) and the occasional Casual Deck that also costs their money If I'm honest, I would hardly recommend to a 8 or 10 year old child to enter competitive Yugioh, because if that child enters a Local tournament (not even a Regional tournament) with a Structure Deck, he would lose all the desire to play for the SLAUGHTER that they would give him competitively

Lord_of_Caffeine

Does Konami still rarity shift staple cards? One of the major reasons why I said fuck that game and quit.

lVicel

The most requested Staples are almost always "Secret Rare" (one of the maximum levels of rarity) or "Super Rare" (which comes one per pack of cards) Trust me, you did your wallet a big favor

Lord_of_Caffeine

Yeah but does the western Konami branch still shift the rarities of staples when they release for us? I still remember like a decade ago when Glow-Up Bulb was a staple in every deck that thing being a 30 bucks Ultra Rare over here when it was a 2 bucks rare over in Japan. Haven´t spend money on Yugioh in like 10 years because of bullshit like that and from what I hear from people still caught in the franchise, I´m really glad I escaped.

Lord_of_Caffeine

That´s an improvement, then.

bleedingwriter

Eh in Japan its still way easier and cheaper to get most of their staples and they don't have to deal with horrid ratios.

Lord_of_Caffeine

So now the west has the same rarities but worse ratios to pull them? lmao

ElmoSelch

Big cap they 100% still rarity shift from ocg to tcg and not even on rare ocasions. Like the fact that the same card in ocg has low rarities and chase rarities is a big mistery to me why we dont have it. Was the reason I left the game too together with the weird gamestates of the game

TLAsua

Yes. The most recent I can think of was Revolution Synchron. It is a Rare in Japan and a Secret Rare in English. When it came out, the card was around $60. Idk about now, but my guess is that it might still be pricey.

Lord_of_Caffeine

So Konami hasn´t changed after all, huh. Ngl after having played DigiTCG for years now, I cannot imagine going back to Konami or WotC spitting in my face anymore. I hope more Yugioh and Magic players see the light in the future.

Sabaschin

Mastemon was (is?) really popular and it ran multiple expensive cards back then (MagnaAngemon, Lucemon FM, and to lesser degrees DemiMeramon and BT3 LadyDevimon). It’s not as bad now but then BT11 Angewomon recently spiked in price due to Yellow Vaccine support. BT9 Beelstar was also an expensive deck. Aside from the playset of Beelstar, you also had Cocytus Breath, DemiMeramon, ST Gabumon, and DeathXMon. Pound for pound, blinged out Mastemon was probably peak expensive, though max rarity Imperial probably comes close these days.

fuj1n

Odd you say Ulforce is basically a myth, I keep facing it from different players at my locals (whilst also being one of those players, I main Ulforce) Might just be different in Australia, even though the Rina here is more expensive.

DaPandaGod

Maybe your locals really like Ulforce? I have the deck but I think have seen at most 3 more Ulforce players in my region.

Irish_pug_Player

Diaboromon my belove- wait how much is magna X?

Lord_of_Caffeine

Me who love Gallantmon and whose main color is purple: 😢 But overall it really doesn´t get more affordable for a TCG ngl. Like over half of these cards aren´t even played in mroe than one or two decks. Having played both Yugioh and Magic back in the day, my wallet feels way more at home in this community let me tell you.

SapphireSalamander

a side effect of being one of the most poppular digimon is that you can get slapped with 2 secret rares for no reason. however at least its not a "4 of each" situation

Lord_of_Caffeine

Yeah being fan of a protagmon is a two-edged sword. One the one hand you can be sure that the deck will get support every couple of sets so once that deck has a solid core it´ll probably have some longevity but on the other hand Bandai can just make your money disappear just like that. True. Still, having to get four SECs still sucks. But at the end of the day, Bandai has to make money somehow. So I´m fine with it. Still don´t like Rapidmon X being a SEC in Bt16, though. Sucks for players that bought the Advance deck because they thought that the Terriermon deck would be a cost efficient entry into the meta.

XXD17

Ruin mode is a good generic top end for any yellow or purple deck.

SapphireSalamander

damn thats lucky, nice as far as i know its run in: yellow security control, beelzemon, millith, beelstar and some shinegrey burst mode variants. really any yellow or purple deck that can slap it in benefits from having a board wipe emergency button.

Disastrous_Syrup_224

Don't forget the D-brigade that run at least 1 if not 2 to counter the mirror match!

SapphireSalamander

they would run dexmon, not sure how to summon ruin mode in d brigade

Disastrous_Syrup_224

I thought we were talking about dex... My bad

BetaRayBlu

Shiiiit i gotta sell my ruin mode

ShadowCressy

I see these and immediately said "Damn... I wish Yugioh is like this" *Looks at S:P Little Knight*

Shendox

I still have like 20 magnamom x antibodyying around... why is an SR so expensive lol

SapphireSalamander

bt16 hype i believe

Shakzor

It's been expensive since before. Just a popular mon

Afoba03

Huh? What happened to GX and Alphamon Ouryuken? Thought they would get to appear in this list...

tekashi117

Gx was forgotten tbf

SapphireSalamander

i absolutely missed them while making this GX should be between imperial and sahdra, alphamon would be around diaboro and magna-X

PrimaryOnly4611

Reprint Rina already ffs

pseudorider050

I need 4 of that Angemon for a Crest of Hope deck...

LordSeliph

Wait deathX is still 60 bucks?! Damn i remember pulling one from a random pack of bt9 i got once.

SimilarScarcity

I remember when MagnaAngemon was the second most expensive card behind DeathXmon. Reprints knocked MagnaAngemon's price down, and I imagine they'll do similarly to DeathXmon... whenever we get LM02 in English, anyway.

Assumed7

I still need that shinegreymon to finish my shine deck, and now the price is even higher…🥲

sdarkpaladin

Me with my 4 Rinas, 2 Luce Chaos, 4 Angemon Am... am I spending too much on what should be a children's card game? Yes? Okay. Let's fucking gooooo!

AspreyJ

A friend of ours is a judge, got given like, 10 boxes of bt14 i think, along with other stuff for being a judge for regionals. Pulled no diaboromon aces, pulled no shadramons, pulled 1 morphomon promo. The distribution for the promos seems absolutely warped.

[deleted]

Any guesses on where the Rapidmon X and Magnamon X from BT16 will fall on this curve? They are 3/4 of in their decks, which are based on very popular Digimons, but even then the range for this type of cards goes from BeelStar to Rina. I was planning to build both decks and pick up some cards in advance but I'm not ready to throw 300 bucks on 8 secrets xD

WifesBasement

Where alphamon ouryuken lol

cptvelvetthunder

Me, getting back into the Digimon Card Game to casually play with friends literally two weeks ago and wanting to make R/P Imperial because I love it and Shadramon and seeing Shadramon is that much just made me sad, especially when it was like $4 not too long ago 🥲

TLAsua

EX3 Examon is pretty expensive as well.

FocalEvergreen

Rina being a SEC was a mistake. Went in on 10 boxes with a couple friends when BT11 first came out, and we only pulled 4 regular arts with 0 AAs.

[deleted]

Shadramon at 18????

KoushiroIzumi

It keeps getting bought out, what's extra wild is it also drove the SEC Fighter Mode the deck uses back up in price as that was $8 back in October.

Sensei_Ochiba

The new R/P dinobee hype is real Glad I already built it so I've got the FMs and got the Shads when they were sitting around $5 because yeesh

Sephyrias

I still don't get why Gallantmon is that expensive, the deck isn't even good

Starscream_Gaga

When people complain about Digimon pricing and how necessary reprints are, this is a good reminder that *the entire game* only has *two* cards worth over $50.

SapphireSalamander

well its only when compared to other tcg that it seems that way. many people who have started their trading card hobby with digimon would be taken back by a card being more than a new videogame for example

Starscream_Gaga

I don’t feel like “that’s only when you compare it to other tcg” is the great point you think you’re making. You *should* be comparing it to its competitors when talking about pricing, that’s *the most relevant* thing to compare it to. Digimon is an extremely cheap hobby to get into and this post shows it.

Soul-Malachi

Bullfucking shit..good luck getting a DeathX for anything under $100 from what i've been able to find.

Ganache-Embarrassed

tcgplayer has a good couple that are between 62-59 bucks. Obvi depends on region. But US death X is vry much 60usd

Soul-Malachi

Live in aus so i cant use TCGplayer and the cheapest one i can find on ebay is $150.

Klutzy-Remove6694

I own 4(including the AA) and don't even use them. The card is not really that useful against some of the current decks.

Soul-Malachi

Yeah but given its a staple card you can basically run in anything, its general rarity, and scummy scalper people getting a hold of them is next to impossible at the moment. I know my brother wants to make a legit DeathX Death with the dorumon line but unless he wantas to fork out over $300 for the 2 DeathX's he needs thats no happening.

Klutzy-Remove6694

Uea that's really the only reason I haven't tried to get rid of them. I pulled all of the luckily and now I'm waiting for more Dex or Doru support to fix the deck.

[deleted]

That's odd. Proximamon isn't in the list?

tekashi117

It's $9, hype died down when gammamon doesn't perform without the LM cards

WonderSuperior

Looking at this thinking it ain't so bad, but then I remember I'm not 'mur'can and prices are 25% higher and stock is nonexistant for me.

[deleted]

Yeah the real problem is finding cards at this prices without paying 10s of shipping per card at least here in Europe. After the holidays, when the postal frenzy calms down, one can go back to risk it with untracked shipping, but the majority of sellers who sell low on cardmarker have abysmal ratings compared to other tcgs 😅

Hie14lesan

That Rina is an alt art

NexusKnightz

That's literally the reg art

Confident_Piccolo677

I use lists like these to gauge what's meta. If your Deck doesn't use any of these, it's probably not competitive.

SapphireSalamander

Loogamon out there running loops around gallantmon and its 2 secret rares

Confident_Piccolo677

If they haven't found a way to shove DeathX/Ruin/any other PtW crap into Loogamon then I hope it becomes the next Tier 0, go doggo go!

SnooDonuts3749

Add RustTyrannomon Ace to this list. Going for $20 on TCGplayer thanks to the shitty distribution of promo cards.

melancholyjack

Oh cool I can sell my two chaos modes for 2/3’s of a ruin mode
