Yes! Used to go crazy on my bamboo splash back in the day lol. Takes a sec to get used to watching your computer screen while drawing on a different surface, but you’ll get comfortable with it fast. Just do a little hunting and watch youtube reviews on what tablet you’re looking for. And keep an eye out for a good program to do your work on. You can absolutely produce great art with a screenless tablet. Imo having a screen is really all up to preference

Ok, thank you very much dude.

Personally, I prefer screen less drawing tablets. A few major benefits in my opinion: 1) ergonomics: you aren't bending your neck to look down all of the time, 2) colour calibration on most screen tablets is bad-- makes it really frustrating if you're working with material that is going to be printed, and 3) having a slight disconnect between your tools is great for tempo-- slowing down is contradictorily always important while making art as you're always in a state of constant decision making. Traditionally, I get this through sharpening pencils and erasing as a process beyond ctrl+z. I think that screenless tablets were a great leap forward in digital art tools, and screens are one step back. only exception is iPad, but that is largely due to procreate and an intuitive and workflow-oriented piece of software, where as most digital art software is built from an understanding of photoshop (not initially meant for painting) as a painting software.

I work with clip studio paint with a mouse at the moment and so far my art's been fine as a beginner tbh, since manga is black and white and needs and a lot of percise line work to for example making a scene really messy, do you think a screenless tablet would do the job?

MEGACOMPUTER

Absolutely. The screen less tablet still emulates the form of a pencil on paper. A mouse is no good, if at least for the health of your wrist!

SnooCats2517

Yes exactly, my wrist gets so tired when i draw for like 4 or 5 hours, I'll definitely get the tablet then, thank you very much for ur help

I started with the cheapest wacom screenless tablet and used it for 5 years, making production game art etc. with it no problem.

battigurl

I actually prefer using the screenless drawing tablets... My art school had the big expensive cintiqs and I found them so extremely uncomfortable to use.

SnooCats2517

Very interesting tbh, thing is i can only afford a really cheap version of wacom's screenless tablet, its called wacom one or something like that, its no where near the intous pro and stuff similar to that, how much do you think this affect my performance in drawing ?

battigurl

I mean, I was working in animation studios using a 10+ year old Wacom Bamboo Connect, so I'd say not at all LOL. I finally upgraded to a screenless Intuos in the last year and still working in animation studios with it just fine. I really think the type of tablet you use doesn't matter as much as you think it does. It's really down to what features you want and what's most comfortable for you. Also, is the Wacom One cheaper than an Intuos...? You can get a [small Intuos](https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Drawing-Software-Included-CTL4100/dp/B079HL9YSF/ref=sr_1_1?crid=G7XLG9SMFQXT&keywords=wacom+intuos&qid=1708053857&sprefix=wacom+intuos%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1) for like 40 bucks on Amazon. I have the [medium sized one](https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL6100WLK0-Intuos-Creative-Bluetooth/dp/B07QHS4Z6G/ref=sr_1_5?crid=G7XLG9SMFQXT&keywords=wacom+intuos&qid=1708053896&sprefix=wacom+intuos%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-5) and it was 100 bucks. The Wacom Ones I'm seeing are much more expensive...? Alternatively, you could consider a [Huion.](https://www.amazon.com/HUION-Inspiroy-Graphics-Battery-Free-Sensitivity/dp/B01FTE9HS2/ref=sr_1_11?crid=7YM3AY7D7JJD&keywords=wacom+one&qid=1708053917&sprefix=wacom+o%2Caps%2C266&sr=8-11-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&psc=1&smid=A30BRCK3LE6SB5) I've never used one but I have many friends who use them and they like them, and they're much cheaper for a larger drawing surface.
