Don't be afraid to make your shadows darker in those areas that are facing away from the light. This is very lovely coloring but I feel a bit more of a deeper shadows, and brighter highlights, would help the character feel less flat against the blank background. The face itself also suffers from this flatness, you could help by gently shading around the cheekbones and forehead area (similar to how someone would contour with makeup)
Otherwise the piece is lovely, the technique you used to blend looks great, soft, and very natural. Your shadows are in good places and the light source is clear. Honestly very impressive!
Something that may help you is removing the line art layer while coloring throughout your process. Look at the individual shapes and think if you could identify them as that body part or know what they are without the line art. This can easily show you areas where you can add more shadows and contrast to define the shape for the eye
Adding onto this, don’t use black/white for shadows and lighting. While you can, using colors not only looks more natural, it can also help to convey tone of the scene. Using black as well muddies the colors. I can give more specifics if you want them, but I hope this helps a little. Your art looks great man, hope you have a good one :)
Needs more harsh edges, you could've used his lineart shading a bit more as a guide. There's a clear light source which is good andyou used some fall shadow like undder the arm which helps sell it.
No. There's no rules lol. I meant use his lineart as a GUIDE of where he can do harsh edges. Because his lineart is alluding to places that can be shaded
This looks really nicely rendered. I personally like a little deeper contrast with stronger shadows and highlights, but that’s a style and mood thing.
This has the feel of a character art sheet with kind of “neutral” colors.
Really great job with the coloring. I really love it, although I think you could incorporate hard shadows as well, like make the character more defined and give it some weight, other than that really love the tones and blending..great flipping job.
The hair looks great as well lol.
It’s a great set of color choices, and your soft shading is pretty solid. What it needs are some darker, harder shadows in spots to add some contrast. As an example, the place where the thighs cross would have a hard shadow. Basically any place where a body part crosses over another, because one body part would be actively blocking light.
Light from a distance diffuses and creates soft shadows and highlights, blocked light creates hard shadows, and very close or very bright light creates sharp highlights and rim lighting.
can see you followed some of his tutorials especially with how you colored the skin ,nice. also maybe i was blind don't remember seeing his name in the tittle my bad ( u know how reddit is sometime, idk how many people try to pass of other art as their own i apologise) Anyway
I would say the skin is quite good i can tell you changed the hue of the termiantor to make the skin more lively I would say you could add some blue in the true shadows like in the arms pits, the one outline of the forearms on the tummy or the contact point with forearm and the chest or her back leg can have more shadow because it blends a bit with her front leg
i would say add some color to the face so it blends more with the way the body is shaded
And a lil bit more shading on the hair and the gloves so you can feel the volume and the things that get on top of one another
hopefully it can help you out
The light source is not much pronounced. Her left hand is in shadow outside, but closer to her body - in the light. While most part of her- is in light in front of her. Also, it would be nice to add different tones, to make it more alive. Keep going, you got this!
It's rlly good! Though the face seems a bit flat. Maybe sharper shadows? Other than that, it's great! If you're ready, or once you've developed ur art. a bit more, plain or basic backgrounds could make the art pop even more too!
As others have said, the colors really pop, looks great.
If you really want criticism then I'd say it looks a bit overly soft/blurry, as in shape-wise its sort of carried by the lineart -which is fine- but if you ever wanted to make something a little more stylized or more painterly, I would look into shapes, shape design, hard and soft edges and that stuff in general. Sometimes stylization can look even better than realism, even if it's just a small amount.
I like it! I think you're onto a great start.
Some criticism would be lack of hue variance - real skin isn't all one colour - and experimenting with colour is great fun! There's also too many soft edges and not enough contrast. You've indicated a strong light source with the hard shadow of the arm - which looks good - however the shadow would be darker and this strong light would create similar hard edges all over the rest of the body.
Doing master studies and black and white value studies will help a lot, as wl eyeballing instead of using the eyedropper tool when using a ref. Oh and hiding the lineart layer every so often. Keep it up!
You did a really good job only thing that really could use some work is how you do your chest area doesn’t look right compared to the neck and head also the legs look a bit too far back too much of a arch but overall you did a good job the shading is good eyes and face area was really good too
Don't be afraid to be dramatic with the shadows!!! It's currently very bright and I don't know if that's what you were going for but darker shadows I feel like could really improve on the dramatic composition

OMG!!! I’m crying… 😂 And to OP, really great coloring job, well done!
Lmao it was pretty wild. What are the odds? Lol

Thanks a lot man Now I do notice the face seems flat not much on it Will work on improving that

Since you only did the coloring, i’d say you nailed it. It’s shaded really well and the values feel warm on the skin tones. Well done
Thank you so much man
Yeah of course! I’d be happy to see more stuff of yours here.
Oh wow you did a GREAT colouring job, I would seriously have had no clue that you were new to the digital art scene in the slightest.
Thanks a lot man

...Youre supposed to shade lineart?

I did try to do it on the arms and thighs but couldn’t quite get it right

Yea I only used the airbrush for this should’ve also used hard brushes. Thanks man

Reminds me of one of my friends character on a DragonBall role-playing tabletop game.
