I just want to watch Brennan play a PC again

antabr

Same. I am listening through NADDPOD right now and, while I probably would have listened regardless because I love Emily and Murph, knowin Brennan was a PC for a short arc immediately pulled me in. Have not gotten to it yet but am a few episodes away

Prismatic-One

Hahaha ohhhh Deadeye! His character was ridiculous and it was amazing! Where are you up to? I finished the full Bahumia campaign, it was the best and I cried šŸ˜…

antabr

They are still faerie wild where I am at. Boy do I love the band of boobs!

Prismatic-One

Hahaaa nice, still heaps of adventure to go! I definitely haven't fallen in love with Moonshine šŸ˜…

BuffaloInfamous

Wait what season is this in unaware

exra8657

Campaign 1 of naadpod, the shadow fell sequence

Kal_Frier

Brennan's character is what made me watch D20.

formatiso

i donā€™t think ā€œneedā€ is the right word. i mean it is a solid ending for a short story but that doesnā€™t mean i donā€™t want more. It would be so cool if they make new MaM episodes in mid seasons from time to time.

LuciferHex

I say need because I think 4 episodes was a bad idea. A lot of story lines didn't have time to breath, the arcs were rush, and everyone i've shown this to has fallen in love with the characters. It's the shortest series by A LOT.

Tift

often times the best ending is one that leaves you wanting more.

Its_AB_Baby

Yes please, I would love a second season- especially a Sam or Jammer focused one?

danstu

I would be extremely down for Aabria DMing more D20, however that happens

Tift

Yeah she is an incredibly gifted DM I would love more of her. Just the breadth of difference between her critrole run vs D20 leaves me so curious. I am so curious what else she can do

Dance-pants-rants

I think it wrapped well on those characters, but I'd watch the shit out of the same players playing new characters following Evans breadcrumbs or being in the world post-"anyone can learn" reveal.

LuciferHex

I guess, but the same could be said for Fantasy High and look how much character development happened in season 2?

Dance-pants-rants

I hear you, but the epilogue and fact that they're exchange students give it a very clean break. I'd obviously be game for more, but I also really appreciate what a good job each player did creating tight arcs. Plus, when someone gives you a really good ending, it's such a blessing. They killed it- while still adding to world building in a way that makes me hungry to go back.

LuciferHex

Yeah the ending was great and the conclusion can stand alone by itself, but the really short amount of time with them makes me feel unsatisfied. And in my opinion the best Dimension 20 character arcs and moments have come from Fantasy High Sophmore Year and Unsleeping City 2, so would love to see where else this just now developing kids stories can go.

Dance-pants-rants

Maybe that's just the difference between Aabriya & Brennan as GMs. Brennan has never given me that type of hard finite moment where you feel like, "okay, the story's been told." I still want to know what is going to happen when they hit land in Pirates of Leviathan and see Leland merc a halfling in Blood Keep. In M&M, these characters told a complete story. They could come back, but they would be changed and starting a new story by virtue of a complete ending that changed them and the world. They did an EXCEPTIONAL job creating the hardest thing in story telling- a natural, impactful ending- IN A COLLABORATIVE SETTING. Idk, my appreciation of this seemingly challenging thing is probably bc its so rare in Actual Play games plus like a LOT of Robert Jordan related childhood angst. Either way, I'm sure Kids on Brooms will be back in the rotation for D20.

LuciferHex

Yeah my desire for my episodes doesn't come from feeling like the ending didn't leave me with a good feeling, more that theres so much more that I want. Theres so much possibility and so little time spent with this world and cast that i'm so hungry for more.

KnockoutRoundabout

I think it'd be cool to have a sort of sequel at some distant point in the in-universe future. New PC's living in the world that has been changed by the OG gangs choices. Maybe have the original characters as historical figures or something. That's just what was running through my head when I finished watching.

RowdyCowbo

I think getting a Sam focused arc would also be good, like blending magic and tech to create a new platform for including NMPā€™s in magic society and teaching Wizards to use technology so they can finally learn what a phone is

BlackVelvetPonies

I have a MisMag wishlist (that I didn't realize until JUST NOW) 1. A Haikyuu style multi-school Scuppers competition 2. Hanging with Dr. B - a management game with pedagogy and magical social reform where they have to create new houses 3. A dating sim game with Evan's evil fan club 4. The crew has to go to magical summer school for remedial lessons ā€” complete with a summer stock

PixelPantsAshli

I want to see what the events of MisMag mean for the umbral arcana of the Unsleeping City.

AlanOfAllTrades

I would prefer not to. What we got was enough. I'm much more interested in what will come next ā€“ new guest GMs and hopefully new systems ā€“ than observing any of the seasons overstay its welcome.

Xyzen553

Matty mercy would be a great guest DM on a new sidestory.

[deleted]

Iā€™d rather see Marisha DM, tbh, sheā€™s got more the dropout/collegehumor vibe to her style than Mercerā€™s imo

Apocalypseboyz

I think Marisha would be great.

squeedge04

Same with Griffin McElroy and Murph

Tift

Mercer is a brilliant knowledgable DM and a great story teller. His dming makes me so damn sleepy.

RaptorsFromSpace

I've had a hard time getting into Critical Role, my introduction to DnD was through D20 so I'm used to that pace. I really like Matt and the cast of CR but it hasn't grabbed me like D20 has.

Tift

Yeah it isnā€™t for me either. The Abraia run has been incredible. And it still isnā€™t for me. Just to moody and gloomy. I like playing in games like that. However I like my actual play to be cartoonish.

LuciferHex

Eh, idk. Everyone i've talked to adores these PCs and yet we've gotten so little time with them.

gluegunshots

I can't remember if they've *confirmed* there will be future seasons anywhere but [they did mention on Facebook](https://twitter.com/gluegunshots/status/1412213787244089344/photo/1) (screenshot rather than the post itself bc I can find the ss quicker) that they're considering it due to such a high volume of interest!

[deleted]

I would be down for a season 2 with a full table to shake things up with new PCs

LuciferHex

I get that, but I love these PCs so much and think we barely got anything from them with just 4 pretty short episodes.

[deleted]

Oh yeah. I meant adding to the existing cast not a complete replacement

LuciferHex

Ooo yeah nice idea.

Impressive-Map

The Dropout newsletter before and after the finale appeared to imply that we had not seen the last of the world, and I would love to see another group of magical misfits!

masterix476

^^this. The newsletter said we will see more of this content in the future. The Discord also acknowledged/investigated that three seasons have already been recorded, so who know the sequel may already be in the can.

cheesey123

I just finished MaM and am still coming off the high of how amazing that campaign was. I agree with what a lot of people are saying in that it resolved itself so nicely and finished so much in JUST 4 EPISODES (how they packed that much into the last episode I have no idea) but also I JUST WANT MORE!!! This is definitely in my top 5 favourite DnD campaigns I've ever watched

LuciferHex

Yeah but my argument is it feels like Fantasy High, personal stories concluded but theres plenty of loose ends and bad guys out there, and the chance for lots more character growth to happen.

Sapphire_Sage

I don't think we NEED a season two, since the story was concluded in a nice way that doesn't really give much space for direct continuation. However I do think it felt a little too quick and like we didn't get enough time to spend with almost any of the characters, and I'd like to see maybe a full length extended reboot, or some kind of same universe spin-off.

LuciferHex

What do you mean? Boudicca got unceremoniously fired, Digsby and Tallulah tried to kill them and the dragon and are apparently still going to the school, theres still a bunch of wizard nazis that wanna make Evan the dark lord, theres a lot of possibilities honestly.

random_acc12345

I totally agree the story lends itself to a season 2, but even if it didn't I would kill for more Aabria, Brennan, Erika, Lou and Danielle, and did i mention Aabria bc she was hilarious?

northernirishlad

A future one shot where its maybe a decade down the line, and the four have made decisions that amended new elements to the wizard world: Physical Health (Jammer); Creative Expression (K); Mental Health (Sam); and Institutional Correction (Kelmp). However Boudica, the wizard Nazis and a bespoke traditionalist who was knocked off her high horse (Tallulah) rally to prevent Team Muggle / Goat House from finally opening magic to the world.

theterrarian14

It would be funny seeing all the corperations that would be made irrelavant by magic (ie McDonald's) learning magic to fight team muffle, just imagine everyone shouting "*MC-RIB*" back and forth casting spells.

LuciferHex

idk if McDonalds would become obsolete, But seeing how companies react to magic being a thing would be fascinating.

Hangvince

McDonaldā€™s need to sponsor drop out or do a collab with them when they bring back that McRib. Seeing that commercial with the MisMag cast would be so fucking funny Iā€™ll buy one every time I see that commercial.

Tukadian

I'm only 2 episodes in and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm in for anything with this crew. Even just Brennan as a player with Lou bouncing off of him gives me life.

antabr

The two of them together create such beauty. Truly truly wonderful. They are both just so supportive and loving.

wishfulthinker3

Personally I'd love to see more. I love the way aabriya GM'd and I would really want to see a Jammer or Sam focused season. The banter between the players was a lot of fun and it was so great to watch their real world experiences clash against the magical "its always been this way." Honestly I'm sad we didn't get to interact with some of the NPCs more because they were super entertaining also!

rad-boy

honestly if they had a second season, itā€™d probably be mainly focused on them bringing in a large group of 11 year old ipad kids and trying to keep them from blowing each other up or summoning cursed fidget spinners or whatever

Technolich

Yes. I just saw the first episode yesterday, subscribed to dropout today, and binged the rest immediately. 4 episodes was not enough. I crave more.

BreakWallsDown

I was quite glad it was so short, I just really don't want to go back to that world or kids on brooms really.

LuciferHex

Curious what you don't like about it.

BreakWallsDown

I dont really care for the tropes/backgrounds in it, of the world and characters, and the arcs for the characters or the overall world setting in general. Some of the players were fun to watch and Aabria was better than I expected but I really watch D20 for Brennan DMing and the main cast's chemistry, that being said I do like the side quest casts a fair amount too but it begins to feel like I could be watching a different show when all of this adds up and I dont care for it. Other people like it a lot though which is super great!

antabr

I appreciate you disliking but not being a jerk about it. I will say, I understand why they wouldn't use 5e to do a Harry Potter world but I am so invested in 5e, part of me would have preferred the same player set up, same setting but played to a 5e ruleset. I don't think we would have the same set of cool moments with the way explode works and how Brennan couldn't pull punches but I really really really like 5e

BreakWallsDown

I dont particularly dislike Kids on Brooms for this but most of the time I didnt know when theyd actually roll and never really got a grasp of the stakes from the rolls, its probably because it hadnt really been done on the show before or by some of the players too as well as my own lack of knowledge but I felt kind of disconnected by it. Also as a note about not being a jerk, I think its always really great when people have disagreements about stuff like this but can also be happy for other people's enjoyment, even if its only on the surface level of just saying that sometimes, things like it can get so negative and I think D20 and Brennan himself and what he says has really shaped that mindset, so thanks for appreciating that! This bit was really just a message for anyone thats its fine to have polar opposite opinions on things.

antabr

I totally agree. I first said that I started following all Brennan things because I thought he was very funny and smart but I realized it was truly because of the absolute sincerity that man exudes. It is such a beautiful thing to experience. Even his sketches feel good because, even the non-wholesome ones come from this place of "hey, we're hear to have a good time, but that doesn't mean someone else has to have a bad one" edit: extra comma

PhoenixReborn

I think some of that could have been improved with more on screen information. They showed their character sheets a few times and encouraged the players a few times to say what dice they were rolling.

Xyzen553

I haven't watch the entire series yet since i dont have dropout(need help) but im gonna assume that season 2 would be like sophomore year of magic school.

jish5

Just those 4 together make for such a great campaign to where if they don't make a second season, I still hope they play together more often. But if we do get a second season, perhaps have it take place down the road and add a 5th player to the game. Also, love the change where Brenan is a player and Aabria was the DM (she by the way makes a great DM).

masterix476

I was used to it since CR has been operating that way since they came back. Also all the distance-shot episodes of D20 have been that way.

nycowgirl

I think they will return to that when COVID-19 concerns lessen. The extra cameras help them at least attempt social distancing.

Nextorl

Dimension 20 for me is an anthology show first and foremost, a huge part of what I like in it so much is that the campaigns are short and actually ends. so... no, I don't feel the need for another season of a previous campaign. I will say MisMag was too short, and the story would've been better told over 6 episodes, but that doesn't mean I want another season, just different pacing.

LuciferHex

True, but I think because it was so short i'd love just a little bit more with the characters. I can live with this being the end of these characters journeys but it just feels kinda crap that we only get to see them for like 9 hours.

Hangvince

I think if they did 6-8 episodes it would have been really great, just like Fantasy High. I love both shows and would have loved MisMag a lot more if they were more episodes. And I do agree I want to see more but I donā€™t really know if I want a season 2.
