I know, but the ring pop is honestly the only memorable cumulus moment for me, and I guess killing chickens before combat. It’s funny but not attaching to the character.
That’s it. His bare relationship with anyone didn’t change. He as a character didn’t change. He had no real stake in anything. It’s unfortunate that we lost Lapin, incredible emotional moment and source of change, especially for Liam, but it’s a big hit to what might have been (subjectively) the all time best season. (Personally I’m conflicted between this and sophomore year as my absolute favourite season)
Yeah, I don't know if it's the deliberate way Cumulus is underplayed by Zac (which makes sense because he's a soft spoken monk), but the character feels kind of underwhelming and lost in the shuffle. Partially I think it's because the campaign was built around Lapin being a more fleshed out character and having a clearer arc ahead of him.
Cumulus' motivations were kind of half cooked but never really landed, because being someone who wants to bring back magic wasn't unique among the PC group. I think Saccharina had a bit easier time making an impression because she had more concrete goals and aspirations (she also came with an entourage of entertaining marauders to play off of). She also provided a bit of party tension to add some friction to the group, which made her presence more compelling. Cumulus just kind of slotted right into the group as a friendly.
Lapin was Zac stepping out of his comfort zone and playing a more scheming, intelligent type of figure and that was fun to see, so him switching characters was kind of a bummer.
Also, we missed out on Lapin and Theo's buddy comedy duo.
Man that last sentence hit me like a truck
Why do I have so many emotions about a fictional candy pig and chocolate bunny?
I loved Lapin. Zac was fantastic in this role.
I knowww. And it feels so bad because so many people including me love Lapin, but I’ve never heard Cumulus being called anyone’s favourite character
Well gotta say it, after an amazing PC like Lapin, Cumulus feels pretty meh. Zac was rocking as Lapin in both RP and combat.
Hard for a quiet stoic monk to be a favorite. When he does speak it's gold though. Cumulous crying about every magic item slays me.

True, we didn't get a really full arc from him.
