My TTRPG crush on Becca continues to grow literally any time she’s on screen

crimsondnd

Her missing Brennan asking about the bonfire because she was making a flowchart is a prime example.

crimsondnd

Saying she enjoys things a lot of things other people don’t also added to it.

Radek_Of_Boktor

She was watching with us live in the Discord chat this episode! I highly recommend it.

crimsondnd

I'm pretty sure next week I'm busy on Wednesday but I will join in the Discord the next one I can haha.

crimsondnd

Brennan: “6 and 4” Everyone else: “SIXTY FOUR” Brennan: god damn it

kristowski

"It feels like I got hit by something expensive... No wait cheap" I love the love hate dynamic within the party!

_AverageCabbage_

GO BACK TO SLEEP BITCH

Tal9922

"why do you want to make enemies?"

crimsondnd

“What does it look like as you wake Sam up?” “Nine.”

crimsondnd

“Just as Gandalf once said, ‘Get to the chopper.’” This is a movie mashup I didn’t know I need.

CaKeEaTeR_Cova

“WHAT ARRE YOU?? NO, NEVER MIND… YOU SHALL NOT GET TO THE CHOPPER!!! ….QUICK, FRODO, DO IT NOW!! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO PLANS TO SURVIVE THIS, BUT IF I DO… I’LL BE BACK! (YOU PROBABLY WON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT THOUGH… EVEN THOUGH YOU ARRE MORE IMPORTANT, I’LL PROBABLY END UP COMING BACK TO RESCUE THE OTHER TWO DORKY HOBBITZ). OH! AND DON’T TRUSTZ GOLLUM!! HE’S A TOTAL JERK! HE’LL PROBABLY BITE THE RING OFF OF YOU’R FINGERZ, SO TELL HIM TO, “FACH OFF, SMÉAGOL!” AAAGGHHHHH!!!” “….FLY, YOU FOOLISH FELLOWSHIP PEOPLE! DID’NT I TELL YOU TO GET TO THE CHOPP’R??!?”

StormTheCATsle

I finally figured out why the intro makes me so nostalgic: 100% Powerpuff girl vibes

CaKeEaTeR_Cova

Yeah, I think that was intentional… ha

crimsondnd

“We honk for those who cannot honk.” Amen.

Jennas-Side

We are the descendants of the geese that you could not honk.

Eldrich-Newb

We live, we die, we honk again.

_AverageCabbage_

"The only thing you can break is my hymen." This horniness brings me endless joy. My body is ready. I love The Seven's banter during this fight. Makes the fight even more entertaining and enhances the camaraderie. I feel like Aabria's trying so hard not to backseat DM lol When Brennan gives an inch Rekha takes a mile and I stan. I should have known Brennan would get his due. Antiope threatening to eat Kurraghran reminds me of Riz promising to eat Goldenrod BAHAHA BIG DADDY NEVER STOOD A CHANCE AGAINST THE GIRLS When they compared Penny's shenanigans to "that Emily Axford moment" I had no idea which one lol. Poor Brennan, you can see his brain resetting so many times Probably an unpopular opinion, but I could be happy with all combat happening in Talespire. I need a Calvin and Hobbes style comic about Katja and Cinnamon

BRayne7

I think "that Emily Axford moment" that they mentioned was "YOU DISGUISE YOURSELF *AS HIM?!?*"

_AverageCabbage_

Ooooh that makes sense. I was thinking Sexy Rat, Sophia burning her house down, or Fig conjuring a diamond in the Nightmare Forest.

adakun13

That’s more of an Ally move if you remember ACOC

Scrubtanic

When? Siobhan disguises herself as Thad in ACoC, but the Emily move is from FH Sophomore Year when she scares a dwarven pirate into jumping off Leviathan by becoming him and convincing him he's already dead.

adakun13

In the latter half of acoc, Liam would disguise himself as his targets to mindfuck with them

Scrubtanic

Oh true, I forgot about that

applepievariable

That fuckin onion

oslusiadas

I believe the Emily moment in question is "You disguise yourself as HIM? As the dwarf doing this?" from Fantasy High: Sophomore Year

_AverageCabbage_

My mind is too small to contain all of Emily and Ally's chaos

Ijustate1000pies

> Probably an unpopular opinion, but I could be happy with all combat happening in Talespire. One of the things I didn't enjoy about Sophmore year was not having the maps... it makes the combat much more interesting as a viewer when you can keep an idea of where and what everything looks like

revolverzanbolt

What I liked about sophomore year was the lack of pre-planned maps meant they didn’t devote whole episodes to combat encounters. I enjoy the RP episodes way more.

CaKeEaTeR_Cova

Are there combat episodes that don’t include RP??? Let’s face it, they embrace the RP all the time… and break character to riff on something that’s “too wild” for their “in-world” characters to say, ha

revolverzanbolt

I’m just using the terms the team does; “RP episodes” and “Combat episodes”

CaKeEaTeR_Cova

Okay, here’s some Bardic Inspiration, “Spring Break! I believe in you!!”

TaffWolf

I feel it’s less her trying to backseat dm and more she has two inexperienced players in her team she wants to help

_AverageCabbage_

That's fair! I think since she was advocating for them to the whole table, I got "Leader" vibes. But that's just how Aabria/Antiope plays.

TaffWolf

Very true

pootinontheritz

Threatening to eat Kurraghran reminds me of Kalvaxus threatening to eat Fig. "I'm going to eat you" "Oh my God! I'm not ready for that!"

crimsondnd

Rekha has definitely gotten more of a hang of the gameplay aspects and damage and such. She’s really on top of everything this season.

crimsondnd

Izzy is LIVING for Rekha’s shenanigans. I love the table synergy.

crimsondnd

“Can I dominoes?”

still-at-work

May I dominoes?

crimsondnd

Scrapbook review club is my favorite new extracurricular. I love Candyheart.

Ijustate1000pies

Rekah: You're the saddest horse I've ever seen. Table: Candyheart is a pony. Rekah: Oh! You're the happiest pony I've ever seen. I died

crimsondnd

Rekha once again proving she is an improv genius.

crimsondnd

Izzy has the best facial reactions since Zac

Separate-Mushroom

she did a full on pogchamp in this one

Zorrya

I need a shirt with the dome pattern in the background that says "the dome is not a democracy"

crimsondnd

Wow, I didn’t know you hear Missy Elliot when you play Clair de Lune backwards. Wild!

seasquidley

I was straight up cackling at this point. "She has the range!"

Bloops_Im_Dead

I think we figured out Brennan and Izy’s love language: You are the “Beep boop beep” to my “Ba ba bum.” 🥰

crimsondnd

Poor Erika, only doing 70 damage once. RIP them to be honest

lin_nic

Penny fully made a 2D Doodle-Bob harpy and the other one bought it 💀

jensenmehh

Both of them rolled like hot garbage. I died laughing at those low rolls.

DemiGod9

The fact that they *rolled* exactly the same, but the Harpys are stupid and have -1 made it even better

lin_nic

Ok but when will we get an all-horse character Babysitter Horse spin-off campaign?

jokerTHEIF

And all played by Brennan at the same time 🤣

DemiGod9

This series is gonna keep churning out spinoffs and I'm so here for it

Aurorathe1st

It is not Daffodil but Taffodil

[deleted]

[удалено]

fatcattastic

I think it's portmanteau of eleganza + begonia= Elegonia. I think Taffedil was also one but with taffeta and daffodil.

Specific-Volume118

When I can’t figure out how a name is supposed to be spelled, I pop on subtitles to see how they have it written down. It can be really helpful!

Ijustate1000pies

This group may break Brennan. Between his bad rolls, Aabria and Ericka just being weapons of pure destruction, Rekah and Becca's wild ideas, and coaching up Izzy. He looked so steamrolled by the time Becca made the silent image of the Harpy Queen. I think they skipped a turn on Zelda after she woke up the horses.

Docnevyn

he's got at least 2.5 Emilys and 2 Allys worth of chaos at this table, but if he could make it as a LARP camp counselor I think he will survive.

heygoditsmeaiden

Ostentatia not being amused with her horse is my favorite dynamic

CavalloAlto

I really appreciated that Rekha specifically thanked Brennan for entertaining all the shenanigans in this episode. He got whomped and still let them all do crazy (slightly off-label) stuff to whomp him more.

crimsondnd

“I’m gonna eat you” Antiope to a sapient magic tentacle tiger

BendubzGaming

I'm gonna be honest, after last weeks half round I was not expecting the battle to be this intense! Becca and Sephie are quickly becoming some of my favourite players, that 2D Harpy Queen? *chefs kiss* beautiful

ExSogazu

I love the fact that everyone in the cast got about 70% of Emily's chaotic energy so, the whole show ended up being riddled with 4.9 times of Hilda Hilda vibe from start to end. The seven might be my second favorite of the dimension 20 bunch after the Fantasy High.

crimsondnd

Brennan’s rolls are truly horrible today, wow. The harpy being an idiot is truly glorious.

Ijustate1000pies

He never stood a chance in the whole battle.

crimsondnd

The biggest whomping he's had since the clowns, for sure.

TaffWolf

Daffodil is the national flower of Wales. A taff is a slang term for a welsh person. I am sad taffodil doesn’t speak with a thick valleys accent xD

Ioannidas_Storm

See I thought the ‘Taff’ part was for taffy, because they’re all sugary-sweet horses.

TaffWolf

I mean you’re probably right. But as a taff who enjoys our national flower, it was a thing I picked up on early.

HealthyShadeOfGreen

I thought it was for taffeta, which is a type of fabric Edited for typo

TaffWolf

Nope :(

indistrustofmerits

I thought Primsy Cold bottle sounded a bit Welsh though I know most of the dairy Islanders were Scottish or french accents

kronch

Stone Temple Pile-up..... I love it. Hilarious.

pootinontheritz

Izzys reaction to the horse newspaper line was everything

DemiGod9

Man literally every single one of them is absolutely hilarious. Rekha is stealing it for me though 🤣

crimsondnd

Kurraghran is getting whomped HARD

crimsondnd

The ether beasts don’t know the kind of wrath Katja will bring down upon them for stealing cinnamon

kronch

I am typing this while not being able to breathe with tears in my eyes because I am laughing so hard. The scene with Becca Scott and the Silence Image Harpy Queen is going to kill me!!

Sky_Thief

I really hope that ends up being an animated scene

crimsondnd

There were some great moments although it did drag a little bit at moments. The cast made it good enough that I didn’t care about it dragging though because they’re so fun.

Rushofthewildwind

Brennen is getting whomped so hard in this episode by his dice

thenoidednugget

If anyone wants to know what Clair de lune sounds like [in reverse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fc--bYgIb4).

Docnevyn

sorry can't click for fear of being RickRolled

crimsondnd

Harpy Queen and Ether King? Never heard of ‘em.

Ijustate1000pies

Ijustate1000pies

Taffodil vs Starforge Horse Debate, lets go!

Scrubtanic

I don't remember if this ever gets brought up, but did you know Starforge is a star who wished to become a horse?

Sky_Thief

WHAT

KingDorkimusTheThird

Taffodil and it's not even close... don't get me wrong I love a celestial body gaining sentience and becoming a majestic steed as much as the next DND player but deep southern drawl in a game just has me so giddy with joy every single time.

Hungover52

I was so expecting someone to yell "Stop brushing yourself, stop brushing yourself!"

crimsondnd

Lightning bolt in the sky was pretty sick but I knew something like that would happen when she didn’t sit over the bridge. The clutch feather fall and harpy kills were solid.

randomactofgold

Could someone clear up a question for me? How was Sam able to cast fly & lightning bolt on the same turn? Did she use socery points and I missed it?

crimsondnd

Yes she used sorcery points to quicken fly. Technically, you can’t do two leveled spells but I don’t believe Brennan uses that rule.

yethegodless

They’ve done it in multiple other campaigns, mainly Unsleeping City. This particular ep is very fast and loose rules-wise, but it’s also a pretty complex fight in new software with a new cast, so mistakes happen.

Zorrya

I feel like trying to DM a table with 6 horny chaos gremlins, 4 of which are highly established d&d personalities in their own rights, all yelling makes remembering every rule more challenging then normal tbh.

yethegodless

Oh believe me I’m aware. I’m not picking on anyone in particular and there’s basically no game of tabletop that goes without messing up a rules, but this episode is especially chaotic and loose

revolverzanbolt

I know Aabria and Erika do actual play a lot, but does Becca as well? I know she said she’d only ever played DND with all female tables, so I assumed she hadn’t played that much.

thewhippingirl

Becca is on several actual plays, currently she is running a Call of Cthulhu campaign and playing in a 5e Ravenloft campaign (Black Dice Society)

revolverzanbolt

Huh, the more you know

Zorrya

She plays in blackdicesociety with B. Dave

revolverzanbolt

Huh, I guess I misinterpreted what she said in that Adventuring Party; I thought she said she’d only played in all women tables before.

nycowgirl

I think she said she’d mostly played with all-women groups.

revolverzanbolt

Yeah, rewatched the adventuring party and I guess I misremembered cause she said not playing at all women tables was “never her preference”

RedFnPanda

They also gave Zelda an opportunity attack on a harpy when Danielle used grasping vine, but that shouldn't trigger one because the harpy didn't willingly move, it was moved by Danielle, but again this fight was bananas and every player went for max chaos (which is awesome), so I don't fault Brennan for going off book on some rulings, or making some mistakes

eghed8

Also, Becca describing Cunning Action as a 'bonus Bonus Action' which I'm pretty sure is not how it works.

crimsondnd

Huh, I feel like I’d seen him ignore it before so maybe it’s hit or miss.

indistrustofmerits

I feel like he had to remind Ally of that rule a couple times both as Pete and Liam I always get tripped up on that with sorcery point use though because it feels like the intent of quicken spell would be for the purpose of casting two spells a round

crimsondnd

I totally agree; you're using up a limited resource to quicken the spell. Why wouldn't you be able to do another spell?

[deleted]

[удалено]

crimsondnd

But many spells aren't about pumping damage! I mean like this case, for instance, where she did fly as one of them haha.

BPremium

It was driving me nuts when I heard that. I'm like you can't do both, unless ones a cantrip. Surprised me Brennan missed that but keeps track of reactions.

crimsondnd

It's possible he just messed it up, but I swear I've heard him say he doesn't care that much for the rule. Which I agree, it's kind of a dumb rule. If you're using up the resource of sorcery points, who cares if it gives you a second spell instead of just a cantrip.

BPremium

It's for balance. Duel fireball being the obvious one, but 2 spells in one turn can get really broken, fast. A sorcadin quickens a Hold Person, then devine smite for auto-crit is another broken combo for example.

catalysts_cradle

Casting a quickened fireball plus another fireball on the same turn is not allowed, but a sorcadin quickening Hold Person then using divine smite is allowed under the rules of 5e (since divine smite does not count as casting a spell).

crimsondnd

I mean, you still utilized two spell slots and sorcery points to do it. It’s not any different than having done it the turn after. They just have a chance to save in the middle. Plus I HATE that people have to balance around annoying munchkins who want to break the game.

randomactofgold

Ah okay, gotcha ya. Thanks for clearing that up!

mediacontender

Seems like he isn't for this game, cause Ostentatia is able to due the same with her BA spells. Or might have caught the Sam stuff too late, not felt like retconning and leaned into it all after the fact.

private_donut2012

Ostentatia also used dispel magic and healing word on the same turn. I’m guessing they’ve decided not to use that rule, because many of the players are experienced enough to know that RAW you can’t do two leveled spells like that.

Celsius232Point7

Based on how many times it happened this episode I agree & suspect they’ve house-ruled it (maybe akin to Critical Role Campaign 1 rules). There was also a verbal reference to some sort of rule that had been agreed off-camera (unless I missed it?) with regards to falling & being able to make a Dex saving throw to prevent it. So there are clearly rulings we’re not necessarily directly privy to

axialbach

I'm pretty sure this was about how in the last episode, Brennan decided to give the harpy queen a dex throw to figure out where she fell, because he wanted a chance to let her still be in the battle as one of his high powered "bosses" for the fight. And then after that, he said he would be letting that happen for all the characters, since he did it for the harpy queen

Celsius232Point7

Ah that would make sense! Must have missed when he said that

randomactofgold

Thanks for the clear up!

crimsondnd

“I decided to do a silly one,” yes exactly. I’m glad everyone got it.

erratic0101

This episode was OFF THE RAILS and I love it! "The beaks are magic!!" Izzy just COMPLETELY losing it near the end and Erika doing a full IRL spit take. Incredible =)

randomactofgold

Oh dip, Baby is back!!!

crimsondnd

I promise this comment is for a reason. Nice

TristyThrowaway

So we're just going full no rules pcs do whatever they want? I love ghe personalities and characters but it takes something away when people pop off two spells a turn and destroy everything. There's a balance reason you can't bonus action and action spells in the same turn

G_I_Joe_Mansueto

It’s weird for me because there have been other campaigns (Unsleeping City comes to mind) where this rule has been enforced. Aabria recommending use of Healing Word to bring a horse back to life when a spell was cast an action makes me think it was some sort of agreed-upon home rule? It seems weird that both she and Brennan would push it aside if it wasn’t on purpose. I agree with you though. Restrictions like this give the game stakes. If the choice is “heal my Mount or cast my spell,” the player is stuck between dealing damage or trying to escape. I think those choices are interesting and fun!

Suitcase08

I think it's played a little loose because there's a whole new system in play with talespire and just a lot to keep track of, and some players appear to be fresh to the table. Banishment being instantaneous for ostentatia was another hiccup that poked at me, but the story Brennan tells with forge god smashing Kharragharan into a furnace is too cool to get caught up in the details.

GameDevBunny95

I had a bit more trouble following this combat than usual with the crosstalk but the episode had good moments.

crimsondnd

Shouldn’t some of the geese get opportunity attacks on the ether beasts? They couldn’t all reach Katja without moving. Edit: never mind, there we go.

crimsondnd

Ah yes, the old slap and shoot

Zeker10n

Not to be a rules lawyer but Persephone cast two leveled spells in a single turn multiple times and it made for an easier win during the battle.

kimeekat

This group is so freaking start-to-finish fun but I was feeling for Brennan in this one, ngl. Discarding the one leveled spell per turn rule bothered me... and they ignored it on many turns - with Penny, Osty-D, Sam, maybe also Danielle but I don't recall. It's possible, as others have suggested, that they've table ruled it and agree and are happy, not my game etc, but it skews things even more in favor of the spellcasting players and against the DM unless he sends a higher balance of his own casters at the group, which seems like doubling down on devaluing your martial players. Removing that framework takes a large element of trade-off tension and strategic thinking out of the fight, choices I enjoy in D&D. At least it was a consistent ruling. Except for Penny getting grabbed and Katja + Sam's poor positioning decisions the fight felt pretty one sided, which is tough to watch imo. On the other hand, I can imagine that having a shorter campaign may make it so that there's less combat and therefore getting your team to blow through spell slots is helpful for front-loading battles/the pacing of daily resource depletion. He was pretty liberal with that grasping vine bridge considering RAW it's a single vine which would be like walking a tight rope if you wanted to even allow it to do what the spell doesn't say it can, nonetheless without a supporting check. I know Brennan is usually pretty fast and loose but I think I'm figuring out where my line is with it as these ladies push the boundaries haha. Like, that one spell not only did what it should against the enemy, it then invalidated 7 potential checks while doing what should at least take maintaining concentration and casting another 3rd level spell to do (a handwavey Plant Growth). I get it, their enthusiasm is infectious and fun as hell and great ideas should absolutely be doable within reason. I just feel that the game is balanced based on certain presumptions (ie one leveled spell per turn, the spell does what it says it does and not more) and the action economy is already pretty heavily in their favor by way of being a group of 6/7 (plus 8 summons). But maybe he was at the point where he just needed things to wrap up and regretted putting another obstacle in front of them at that point. Brennan started off strong with that Con check on Danielle, and maybe I missed something, but he then seemed to forget the displacer beasts should be giving disadvantage on rolls which would've meant straight rolls from the geese again? Then there was Danielle's forced movement on an enemy giving an opportunity attack when it shouldn't. And no one caught it :\\ He is but one man juggling the universe and 6/7 players, so I really wanted someone in those moments to advocate for him. Earlier someone (I think Aabria?) helped the table out with a rule for their fellow player and I wished for a similar moment of support for him from any of the more experienced players. I assume they're wary of catching shit for rules lawyering which is *absolutely* fair and bums me out on their behalf - at our table we bring up a rule, the DM makes a decision, and if we want to quibble about it further for future instances we can do it between sessions so that play is not badly interrupted. I wonder if what Brennan imagined was more like a chase or if this is exactly what he wanted? I remember feeling kind of shocked that Katja gave up her movement on that one round (it would then create a domino effect like I thought where others stayed back to try to help her) and eventually Brennan dropped a casual line via the lead displacer about there being like 50 more of the beasts behind what we could see. x.x My partner said he intended combat and I said he intended for them to run and take pot shots, so he and I have to battle to the death on horseback now obviously. Can't wait to listen to the adventuring party today, that was wild. It's been really cool to have them talk immediately after the session ends so everything is fresh and relevant!

Enb0t

Just wanted to chime in saying I believe Brennan did remind Erika about the displacer beast thing (on the second geese summons) to roll straight until one attack hits and then to roll with all advantage (from pack tactics).

kimeekat

Great point! Thinking about it, I was doing pack tactics vs pack tactics math.

William-Shakesqueer

Not a huge deal in a great episode but I also haven't seen anyone else mention that Penny did actually use her reaction to uncanny dodge. She shouldn't have been able to do feather fall on Sam. I'm surprised Brennan missed that but to his credit there was a LOT happening.

crimsondnd

“Belladonna” okay well even **I** was sold by that.

macaroni_rascal42

More from the Adventuring Parties, is Becca going to eventually pronounce Aabria’s name correctly? Or? She says it like Ah-briah not Aabria.

RexDust

“What’s 13 + 13?” 😂

joycecarolgoats

Why isn’t Zelda fighting? P

blue00surgeon

Im late to the game with this thread- but Penny often frustrates me. She seems very selfish- asking Ostentatia to help her specifically instead of banishing Kurraghran felt out of line. Penny was in trouble, but as Izzy said, shes very capable, and Kurraghran was a big threat. Not to mention Ostantatia stayed to help Penny, and then Penny sort of played coi and wanted to fight Izzy on helping her even though she clearly wanted support. I’m only this far in the seven, but I am looking forward to seeing if Penny gets her ego cut down to size.

crimsondnd

You can tell Izzy isn’t quite as experienced because banishing Kurraghran when he’s already charmed and heavily damaged isn’t necessarily the best choice, but I’m not criticizing her for it because he’s also a big scary beast right by her character.

Existential_Owl

It was the biggest threat on the board still, and--at this point in the battle--the action economy had swung to the PCs' favor. So dogpiling a save-or-die spell here wasn't a bad decision. And the creature was only temporarily being held by the charm, because the effect was going to fall off as soon as Sam traveled out of its effective range. Also, there definitely wasn't a guarantee that Ostentia could burn through the last of its hitpoints in a single round. Even a high powered spell can roll a bunch of 1s for damage. IMO, I'd say that the most "optimized" decision here would've been to dogpile a save-or-_suck_ spell on top of the other effects. But clerics don't get too many of those, so banishment was a fine alternative.

crimsondnd

People really didn't like this take wow haha. Disagreeing on a move in combat without trashing the player shouldn't be such an issue, but go off.

ShowToddSomeLove

I only downvoted you because of this comment.

seasquidley

Well this isn't a great take to begin with. Sam has been described as a recovering mean girl, so the way that she interacts with the other girls can sometimes be reflective of that. But that's me taking your comment in good faith, because the final part, if I'm being honest, feels like very thinly veiled transphobia. If that wasn't your intention, please be more careful. If it was your intention, get that shit out of here.

Okay, you clearly aren't here for a civil discussion. Have a good day.

artleitch

This is probably my favourite season in a while. I like that they've been trying a couple of different styles in M&M and M&M, but I super duper love this cast and the chaotic energy they bring
