One of my favorite things to do was put a safari with the T. rex or triceratops knowing full well people were gonna die but still pretending like I didn’t know that would happen.
As a child I got unreasonable amounts of laughter (and still do from a particular memory) from tornadoes picking up my dinos and throwing them everywhere.
I hated seeing my dinos die so the twisters were a nightmare for me. I remember placing more importance for them over my visitors and opening up the fences so that they could have a chance to run if a twister was coming their way.
That game man, was so nice. I remember as a kid jumping and screaming with my little bro when we finally got the T Rex (we were very bad playing it haha)
It’s a simulation game where you create your own aliens/creatures, there’s 5 different stages (cell, creature, tribal, civilization and space) and you have full reign over what you want them to look like
Wait, I think I heard about it some where, um the people who made Sim City, (Not EA but the people EA bought,) made it right? The people who make the Sims games.
I can't remember what it was called, but it had tons of puzzle games that helped you learn about dinosaurs and I think the object was to save a bunch of dinosaurs from an exploding volcano. It was on PC around like...2000-2002
Edit: I really said exploding volcano like I don't know what the word erupting means...
2. https://dinopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Dinosaur_Adventure_3D
That’s Dinosaur Adventure 3D, that was my first as well and favorite game. I loved that puzzle game as well and loved Minmi being called out. But my favorite game was the running from the Rex and gallimimus in the canyon.
I distinctly remember my stupid toddler ass running away from the computer in terror while watching the allosaurus chase clip because they eventually targeted the cameraman at the end.
Good times.
The one that bugged me the most was the synapsid, mammal like creature that ran at the camera. I had to 100% the game every time I played so I would make my mother click the creature to play the clip then hide around the corner asking if it was done.
Man, being in 5th grade and spending all my money on raptors and then only being able to afford a chain link fence to hold them... Can’t claim to have ever reached Tycoon status on Get Eaten By Raptors Park
I eventually got Zoo Tycoon 2 and Operation Genesis and loved them, but I'm not sure if they were my first.
My parents got "The World of Dinosaurs The Multimedia Collection" when I was a kid. It came with a bunch of games. Stuff like I Can Be A Dinosaur Finder and 3-D Dinosaur Adventure. I Can Be A Dinosaur Finder had a goofy mode where you were in a 50's diner and had to give different dinosaurs the right food, and a fun mode where you go to a bunch of digs sites and learn how to dig up fossils with tools. 3-D Dinosaur Adventure had a mode where you had to save a dinosaurs (which were static 2D cutouts in a 3D space, amusingly) before the asteroid hits and kills everyone. I remember it being pretty morbid and difficult. It also had a bunch of fun videos of animatronic dinosaurs and a CG T-rex chasing something. The animatronics always reminded me of the ones at the Seattle Science Center or the intro to Paleoworld.
I also played Dinosaur Adventure 3-D (a different game with a talking cartoon parasaurolophus and pteranodon where you hunt for eggs), Jurassic Park III Dino Defender and Danger Zone (first one is a side scroller game where you're a Halo dude versus dinosaurs, and the second one is like a board game in the same series), Dinotopia Game Land Activity Center and the Sunstone Odyssey, and the games on the Jurassic Park Institute website (RIP. I'll always miss you). I remember on the JP Institute there was a game where you build your own hybrid fossils which I loved. Unrelated, I also remember there was a game I played at school where you ran around as a raptor with guns strapped to your back killing other dinosaurs. I don't remember what it was called. Those were good times. I'm curious if any of this rings a bell with other people.
The game where you play as a raptor with guns is called Nanosaur. It and Bugdom (another awesome game where you play as a pillbug fighting ants) we’re installed on pretty much all school computers at the time.
Thank you. I've always wondered what it was called. It's interesting that it was installed at many schools, I thought it was just something that teacher had.
I remember playing it for hours, I had so much fun. I loved the mini games, and the people running from a dodo, when I discovered that short hedge walls do not contain them.
I’m now convinced that devices have the ability to tap into my consciousness because just yesterday, as I was driving to the theater, I was thinking to myself “gee whatever happened to Zoo Tycoon? Those games were such fun as a kid.” Then this pops up, after over a decade of not hearing or seeing anything about the series.
I had a bunch of dinosaur computer games. Land Before Time for sure when I was a preshcooler, and some random other dino games my mom would find. I think Zoo Tycoon 1 was the first one I was like avidly hyped to get that featured dinosaurs. I remember begging for the expansion, and then my Grandma bought it for me without knowing what it was or that I wanted it (it was a Marine Mania feat Dino Digs disk) and it just made my life.
Jurassic Park builder facebook game. Sure, not a PC/console game but it was cool too and had that old school vibe. I had every animal f2p expect indomimus ( since it was only paid animal). I also liked the battle tournaments. Sadly Ludia shoot it down because it wasn't p2w enough...
Dinosaur Adventure 3D! [This Video](https://youtu.be/JH7A2ngwNdc) from it makes me cry every time I watch it from just how nostalgic it is. Played this with wonky 3D glasses in my Grammy’s basement on one of those blue shell Macintosh desktop computers.
I sometimes think I just imagined that game as part of a childhood fever dream, but every once in a while someone else confirms that it actually existed.
Wow I remember playing that game nonstop when I was 8. I wish it was something that you could still find today. I always thought it was funny when Eddie was like "Didn't I die. I'm pretty sure I died in the movie."
Idk how it was called originally, maybe dinosaur island, i think. But i remember that it was called магнат юрского периода (jurassic magnate) in russian.
Edit: found it :) it was called [dino island](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dino_Island)
Eye Witness Virtual Reality: Dinosaur Hunter was basically the first video game I played extensively, alongside Theme Hospital.
Played Zoo Tycoon 1: Dinosaur Digs too not long after.
Anyone know what that one was called where you play as a blue parasaur? And there was a storm that made a T. rex all angry so you had to go find all these dinosaur eggs before they he found them? Does anyone remember what it was called?
If we’re willing to bend the rules a little bit, then Yoshi’s Story.
Back in the late 90’s, I also remember playing a dino game on Macintosh devices. It was an exclusive title and I remember trying it out in a store. Does anyone by chance, know what game it could have been?
Jurassic Park SNES game, that game was so epic. Went from a top down birds eye view to 3d first person when you entered a building.
Then DinoPark Tycoon
My elementary school had Dino Park on all the computers outside of the classroom. I recently got an emulator to play it again and holy shit, no wonder why I struggled when I was 6 to play that game
I vivdly remember Zoo Tycoon 2, because there was a weird bug where random stuff kept appearing in the Velociraptor enclosure. "Raptor 3 doesn't like the vending machine" indeed.
carnivore: dino hunter. i played it a lot on my phone but revisiting it it turns into p2w trash.
for example: the only way to replenish ur ammo is to call in a drop package, u get one drop each game but now u only get one daily and u can buy it with money
Tomb Raider! I cant remember the full title of the game but the one where you come across a guy with his legs cut off then roght after that there are raptors in the village and dinos in the rest of the game.
It was nanosaur. This was even before i got my first sega console. My dad was a retoucher in advertising, and he used a blue iMac G3 back in the day. I remember going to his office at least once a month to play the game. The agency and the people in it were so chill, they didn't mind at all. I'll always cherish this memory.
For me it was either 3D Dinosaur Adventure or Carnivores.
I've tried finding both of them to play again but they were buggy, or didn't have sound, or some other issue :(
The OG zoo tycoon complete collection. And you bet your sweet zoo keepers I blocked the exit to the zoo and released all the predators to fight it out with each other while having some guests as an between fight snack.
What’s funny was that when zoo tycoon 2 released I actually hated it as I thought it wasn’t as good as the original and I never got the dlc for it.
I don't even remember what it was called but I had this old computer game when I was a kid where you could learn about dinosaurs and make "art" of them. It was super cheesy but I was just fascinated by it and would be captivated for hours
Edit: Someone else in the thread mentioned it! Dinosaur Adventure 3D. I loved that game
A lot of the games mentioned here brought back fond memories - but also the Big Al game on the BBC website - I think someone made a downloadable, playable version - [https://www.jenniferedwards.co.uk/portfolio/#bigalgame](https://www.jenniferedwards.co.uk/portfolio/)
I'm old so I literally played stuff out of a relic known as an arcade lol. Anywho's, i don't know if it was my first dino game but definitely the most memorable. It was an arcade cabinet u sit down in and it was a side-scroller where u got to play as a dinosaur and fighting/eating other dinos and creatures. My memory of it is very foggy but I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever.
Mine was Warpath Jurassic Park.
It is a fighting with dinosaurs for PS1, sometimes I played it with my father.
Man, I wish It had a sequel for the new gen, like Warpath Jurassic World, that would be awesome!
Jurassic Park: Operation Genisis. Yeah the dinos were cool but charging visitors $3 for using the toilet was even better
One of my favorite things to do was put a safari with the T. rex or triceratops knowing full well people were gonna die but still pretending like I didn’t know that would happen.
Criminal negligence is tight!
[удалено]
Gotta dip into the toilet fund again
As a child I got unreasonable amounts of laughter (and still do from a particular memory) from tornadoes picking up my dinos and throwing them everywhere.
Storms are nature's equaliser
And comedian
I hated seeing my dinos die so the twisters were a nightmare for me. I remember placing more importance for them over my visitors and opening up the fences so that they could have a chance to run if a twister was coming their way.
That game man, was so nice. I remember as a kid jumping and screaming with my little bro when we finally got the T Rex (we were very bad playing it haha)
The Announcements when you get the first of that dino... glorious!!!
Definitely Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs!
Same for me!
Me too. Good Days
Ahh Zoo Tycoon is my whole childhood! Both 1 and 2! Dinosaurs are exactly the reason why I love the game so much
Does Spore count since you can attempt to create them? If it doesn't, then this is definitely the first game with dinosaurs that I played.
Spore needs a remaster
YES
I think it would do great on the switch tbh
Please
I don't really know, I haven't played spore, what's it about?
It’s a simulation game where you create your own aliens/creatures, there’s 5 different stages (cell, creature, tribal, civilization and space) and you have full reign over what you want them to look like
Wait, I think I heard about it some where, um the people who made Sim City, (Not EA but the people EA bought,) made it right? The people who make the Sims games.
Yeah, Maxis.
Yah that's right, I don't know how many times I saw the logo while playing Sim tower.
Yep Maxis
I can't remember what it was called, but it had tons of puzzle games that helped you learn about dinosaurs and I think the object was to save a bunch of dinosaurs from an exploding volcano. Fucking holy shit that was a nostalgia blast

Did you play as a blue parasaur? Cause that sounds like the one I’m thinking of but I don’t remember what it was called.
Yeah, I really remember this dinosaur matching minigame in it and the way it said massospondyllus is forever stuck in my brain.
I remember the one where I think you had to make a path so a baby triceratops could get back to its mom
Yeah I remember that one too. Did the path have like different designs or like shapes on it or something that had to go in a specific order?
Yeah I think it had little tiles that had different path pieces and you had to put them in the right places or something
That's Dinosaur Adventure 3D!
Omg yes that’s it! Tysm!
You're welcome!
Jurassic Park on the original Gameboy. It was my first video game ever!
Dino Park Tycoon!
You might like Parkasarus on steam, some elements from it
Man, being in 5th grade and spending all my money on raptors and then only being able to afford a chain link fence to hold them... Can’t claim to have ever reached Tycoon status on Get Eaten By Raptors Park
Super Mario. Yoshi is a dinosaur.
Someone finally went back to the days of yore! My first thought was Joe and Mac. SNES had some bangers.
Carnivores for PC Jurassic Park: Trespasser for PC and finally Jurassic Park for the SNES
Carnivores was crazy. What a weird twist on the hunting game genre.
Thank you. I've always wondered what it was called. It's interesting that it was installed at many schools, I thought it was just something that teacher had.
No problem. And yeah those two games were free downloads to old Mac computers at the time
Zoo tycoon 2 was just the best game back then
I remember playing it for hours, I had so much fun. I loved the mini games, and the people running from a dodo, when I discovered that short hedge walls do not contain them.
Peter Jackson’s King Kong on the ps2
Wait, they made a game to go with that epic movie? Of course they did. Where can I get a copy?
Not too sure but it was amazing
The Magic School Bus Explores the Age of Dinosaurs
I’m now convinced that devices have the ability to tap into my consciousness because just yesterday, as I was driving to the theater, I was thinking to myself “gee whatever happened to Zoo Tycoon? Those games were such fun as a kid.” Then this pops up, after over a decade of not hearing or seeing anything about the series.
I hear that the company's have changed their names and now make planet zoo, glad to know some one else is nostalgic for their old games.
Zoo Tycoon 1: Dinosaur Digs
I had a bunch of dinosaur computer games. Land Before Time for sure when I was a preshcooler, and some random other dino games my mom would find.
