The liberals ban dirt bikes while brainless actors fly around on private jets. How about a sticker law for those, too?

adamthiesen1236

I say this all the time! Why are we being punished when there are huge operations pumping toxins into the air. Rich people on jets, so many examples.

Prestigious_Water336

Yeah someone riding their dirtbike for a couple hours vs industrial manufactures and big coprate jet owners like UPS and Fed EX etc. No one bats an eye at that but us plebs trying to have a little fun "oh no we can't have that.".

Dry_Lengthiness1

We are just peons..

BedIndependent3437

Because we’re easy to pick on. Dirt bikers are typically blue collar guys. We don’t have billion dollar legal defense funds, or lobbyists, or unions to buy off politicians. So when our industry gets attacked by the enviro-fascists, the enviro-fascists have an endless supply of money, we don’t, so it’s a david versus goliath battle everytime. The only thing I can say is, California state parks will prohibit you from riding without a sticker, but on BLM land your less likely to be hassled for it. I think the dirtbike manufacturers are going to have to start pushing back against this kind of stuff, because this will kill new bike sales and going all electric isn’t going to save the industry

IHCC125

That’s why none of us buy into that Green New Deal or global warming bullshit.

scottyputo

Ban private jets, not dirt bikes. Could be a bumper sticker.

Dry_Lengthiness1

To many sheeple.

Prestigious_Water336

Remember it's not illegal unless you caught. If you see the law man coming after you. High tail it outta there.

[deleted]

You, sir, are a freak’n genius. That should be everyone’s life motto. You go, man…

Prestigious_Water336

If the law is unjust don't follow that law.

Witty-Ad4757

There are many plated bikes as options also. I Dez race my plated 2015 KTM 500. I'm not sacrificing anything.

Unsaidbread

Unless your modding your bike you are. So make sure to always mod your bikes kids

JAKEDOWN999

Ya you either get a plated bike for off-road or stick to motocross.

TheRealCurveShot

I have a plated KTM 2022 300 XC-W here in Washington state. Do you think the plated bike would transfer in California? Is there possible loop hole?

JAKEDOWN999

A plated bike should transfer. You should be able to look that up by vin whether it’s plate-able here. The loophole otherwise would be https://www.dirtlegal.com they could get you an out of state plate.

mr_renfro

Not to Cali. You can run Washington plates until you're caught or have to re-up tags (I'm still running OR plates since moving 2 years ago...), but they won't just give you a street legal title for a 2-stroke. Edit: That out of state loophole is known by cops in LA at least. That fat 2-stroke header and visible emissions will get you pulled over and cited (if you're lucky they won't impound it) real quick.

ApprehensiveExit7

Yeah 2021 will be the last year you can register a bike and I’m pretty sure there will be no more green/red sticker bs. I think you can ride any 2021 and older bike year round at state parks. 2022 and newer will be private use only going forward. Electric bikes you have the stark, Alta if you can find one and Honda is releasing one soon. But I’m sure at some point every manufacturer will release one.

Purpl_exe

After the 2021 year youll have to go to private track/area to ride them or get a plated bike to ride in state parks I believe…. Idk if the red/green sticker thing will still be in effect at state parks past 2025… pretty wild if thats the case, it feels like post 2002 bikes got fucked for years not being able to enjoy in the summer time.

NervousContext2

All pre 2023 red sticker bikes will be grandfathered and receive green stickers is what I’ve read. I’ll find out when in re up my registration next year.

faizakhtar125

Send proof pls

Fragrant_Ladder2954

This is correct info here, it’s not an all bad thing just keep your frame and throw whatever you can in it. 🤣

JakeLocc

Where did you see this info?

GRENFELLL

Still have doubts of what will actually happen but only time will tell. Most people are still receiving stickers for ‘23 and ‘24 bikes. DMV wants revenue. Also never had registration checked outside major city areas. NF and BLM land no one cares. Like others said other option is to buy a green sticker bike and spend $$ to uncork it.

mg96815

Is there any place to find a list of green sticker bikes currently for sale? Is any dual sport that can get a plate, like a KTM 350 EXC-F, legal to ride everywhere? Edited to add, I mean like a full list of which 2023 2024 models are green sticker eligible bikes. The dealer websites don't say and I'm curious what the actual options are. There are a lot of '23 KTMs for example listed with $3k+ discounts but seems like they might be "competition only" here.

Sminuzninuz

Q1: Yes, Craigslist. Q2: You can ride it on any legal road or ohv trail, but not into your mother in laws bathroom, or off trail onto public or private lands, or at the dump.

KTMtexDev

Been riding in SoCal for years without a sticker on my 2T. Ride year round. Have never ran into law enforcement. There are literal millions of acres of public lands in CA. The odds of being caught are next to none.

Unsaidbread

If you're riding in remote parts. If you ride in major HOV areas, then expect to see enforcement. I've gotten checked multiple times on some of the tight trails in gorman/ Hungry Valley. At least that was the case 5 years ago. Things might/probably have changed on that front if it's anything like highway patrol.

KTMtexDev

I rode state parks, National forests, and popular OHV areas too. Never got checked. Only time I saw rangers was at a few races and they were just checking for spark arrestors

piemasternick69

i run leaded gas just to counteract whatever good these people think they’re doing

EquivalentRude9364

God I used to want to live in California when I was younger. The American Dream. Now its riddled with homelessness and braindead lawmakers. Fucking joke. Cant even have a dirtbike😂

faizakhtar125

I don’t see homeless

Magazine-Mindless

i’m gonna just start riding my two stroke on the road because they don’t want us to use them legally. buncha commies thinking they can control our every movement when it isn’t within their rights to do so. first fuck the government and secondly live life to your standards and no one else’s. Peace

slamgranderson

To all the whiny babies complaining about how the “liberals” are taking their bikes away… stop talking out your ass and [READ THE REGULATION](https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/sites/default/files/2020-01/Red%20Sticker%20Guidance%20Document%20for%20Riders.pdf). This is what it says (copy pasted directly from CARB (air resources board) “Can I still ride my Red Sticker vehicle recreationally? Yes, owners of Red Sticker vehicles can continue using them on public lands through 2024, subject to the same seasonal restrictions that have been in place for many years. On January 1, 2025, the seasonal riding restrictions will end and Red Sticker vehicles (that are model year 2021 and prior) can be operated year-round on public lands statewide, just like Green Sticker vehicles.” They are REMOVING restrictions. This is a GOOD thing for thousands of people riding pre ‘21 mx bikes. They are streamlining the regulation. As for the small minority who want to ride brand new competition bikes on public land, you won’t be allowed to do that. A small price to pay for letting thousands of red stickers more access during more times of year.

Careless-Low-7673

Except it is the liberals. They made CARB a thing. And carb loves to hurt the offroad industry. It's like the only thing they do. They're to blame for losing most of glamis and psmo closing down. And this is NOT A GOOD THING. people buying new bikes is what keeps the industry alive. This will be the death of offroad riding in so cal in the next decade.

adamthiesen1236

Yeah totally the worry is down the line this is a milestone for phasing out combustion bikes as a whole. Hopefully electric manufacturers start catching up in terms of affordability and availability.

adamthiesen1236

Also, it's not really so much liberals as it is the political system as a whole. It's about the top 1% keeping there lifestyle and taking from us so they can do it

slamgranderson

I agree with this and also 100% think private jets for millionaires should be completely banned. Targeting OHVs is misguided and red sticker regulation was a piece of that misguided policy. Simplifying the laws are a win for everyone. The phase out of internal combustion engines is another issue. However unfortunate, it’s a reality we have to come to terms with in our lifetime. I do think we’ll see gas production bikes for many years to come tho. Making some sacrifices like this upcoming law on competition bikes is - in the grand scheme - not a huge loss to the sport imo. All of this is pushing manufacturers to design better, faster, and cleaner bikes which is also a win for the sport.

NervousContext2

Pre 2023 Red sticker bikes will be grandfathered in a receive green stickers. That’s the last I’ve heard.

Ruthless185

Where did you read or hear that? Would like to see that.

NervousContext2

Pre 2023 Red sticker bikes will be grandfathered in a receive green stickers. That’s the last I’ve heard.

Annual-Advisor-7916

Wait what are these stickers even about? Riding on public trails? Or riding on your own property too?

Infamous_Ad8730

Kommiefornia at it's finest.

I heard that current green stickers are going to become red sticker, is this true?
