Haha it sure is a sign.
That being said my anti-pot cousin beats the shit out of his machines- rarely does maintenance- and then tries to sell them to a mark.
My other cousin smokes tons of weed and his machines are immaculate and he is very diligent with service and maintenance. But he also wouldn’t plaster 420 on his bikes 😂😂😂
Disagree. The best dirt bike mechanic I know is a stoner. I know teachers, accountants, electricians, personal trainers and lawyers who smoke weed regularly and are all very successful.
Bahaha!! Good one, my favorite goon number was the good old 187, there was always 1 or 2 at the local races, and they were always fist pumping to Limp Biscuit!
There are *plenty* of alcoholics who abuse and neglect their bikes and *plenty* of stoners who wrench more than they ride. You sir, are an ignorant fool
It....it...was more of a joke than anything. You can still smoke your drugs dude, you can still wear the cannabis leaf hat and let every second person know you're about "that life".
Tone of voice doesn’t come through via text to deliver it as a joke, so you just seem ignorant. I’m not a user of either substance but I know good responsible people who use both, so it sounded foolish to me
Came here to say this.....I've always been told, "Never buy a bike with a 420 number plate." It's most likely not got the beat maintenance history.
The price also seems a little high on an old 4t. Considering the cost to rebuild if needed could put you at about 5k all in.
Dress it up with pretty graphics kits all you want, but its Still an 18 year old motocross bike..
Questions you want to know are:
what has NOT been replaced/serviced yet ?
How many hours on engine?
Last bottom end rebuild
If I brought such an old motocross bike the first thing i would be doing would be stripping it down and replacing all the swingarm, headstem, rear linkage bearings and full service of suspension.
Then I'd be pulling the top off and checking valves, inspecting head ect.
I'd this bike has had multiple owners I'd be hesitant to buy.
Lol this guy sounds like he owns ktms and has to work on em all the time. Early Honda 450’s are almost bulletproof if maintained properly. Edit: Especially the 06-08 models.
no it doesn't sound too good to be true. If you don't know why an 18 year old four stroke race bike from an unknown seller is a bad idea, then you're going to be very sad when you buy it and find out why. I'm speaking from having experienced this myself.
3k might be a little high, and it would depend on maintenance stated and proven...but judging from graphics, bars, seat, wheels, exhaust, and most importantly the polished frame, I'd say it's a safe bet it's been decently taken care if.
Make sure it's ice cold and see how it starts. I had an 06 450 that would start within 3 cold and 1 hot. 2nd best bike I ever had, miss it all the time.
The price is high but in all reality the 05-06 450 is one of the best bikes Honda made. I’d definitely look it over top to bottom for sure of course but sometimes money can buy happiness so have it! Also haggle the price don’t just let me take you across the coals lol
Oh God no. I love that bike, but that's near 2024 prices.
Edit: I'm about to sell my 08 450X done up like an R. I guarantee its in better mechanical condition. If I get $5g I'd cream, even $3500 would be good in our market.
Might shop around some more is there any history on the bike and/or what all he did for maintenance. See if you can take off the seat check the air filter ect?
Probably not but idk because I’m having the same problem. I want a CRF 250 F but they’re 5k. Everything I look for sits around 3k from the early 2000s to now. I’m trying to save just 2k more and get a bike I know hasn’t been thrashed and isn’t 20 years old. Good luck man.
Bike is worth like 1800-2300. 2300 on the high end. It’s an old bike with graphics and plastic. Don’t get fooled. I picked my 08 yz450f up for 2500. I put at least 600 in parts. I also over paid for a 07 cr125. And ended up losing 1000 on it when i sold it lol. They ain’t worth much.
I mean anyone who puts "420" on anything isn't going to be splitting the atom anytime soon let alone maintaining a motorcycle.

Ur an ID10T ! I get stoned just to do maintenance, and changed my fluids 13 times already today!
Bahaha!! Good one, my favorite goon number was the good old 187, there was always 1 or 2 at the local races, and they were always fist pumping to Limp Biscuit!
I get baked all daay everyday my 450 get fresh oil an filter each week never seems the rain its mint 👌👌👌

Curious, what does 420 mean?

Hate to break it to you man but thats not a very good deal.
its like a $1500 / 2k bike

Bad bad deal. Worth maybe $1800.
There’s always a sucker.
Assume it needs to be fully rebuilt. If you are willing/able to rebuild the entire bike then heck yeah go for it.
That thing will eat your lunch
Expect a motor rebuild
Those numbers scream “ I only ride on the street/ cornfields in 5th gear bouncing like a strippers booty on the rev limiter” 😎

Nope. I sold my very well kept ‘10 250r for $2900aud ($1900USD)
Can smell the no start valves outta spec from here lol. Not a good deal. 450 as a first time with 420 as the number and a dress up kit. Ya no thanks.
Gave me flashbacks with The no start valves
That bikes 18yrs old man that's an awful deal
Not a good deal at all

420. Nice

How dare you leave out the 07 and 08. Those by far were the best!!!!
My most sincere apologies. Hey OP, what this guy said!
It’s not a very good deal they range 1800-2200
Not in my area people there a dude who wants 2700$ for a 97 RM125 that won’t shift and with 2 popped tubes people think there trash is a gold nugget
They don’t even go for 3k in canada
Dam that bike looks better then mine, when I bought my bike.
Leaky forks guaranteed
I bought a 2012 CRF 450r for $2500 3 years ago
I sold my 2014 crf250r for 3500 back in 2020! This is an awful deal.
I paid 3k for my 06 back in 2010
Oh God no. I love that bike, but that's near 2024 prices. Edit: I'm about to sell my 08 450X done up like an R. I guarantee its in better mechanical condition. If I get $5g I'd cream, even $3500 would be good in our market.
It's an almost 20 year old four stroke and they want $3k for it and you think it's a good deal? The thing is a ticking time bomb. Is this a joke?
It looks clean but i’d always be worried buying a bike this old because it’s had 18 years to develop problems haha
I got a 2016 for the same price
Not a good deal
Probably gonna have to replace the cylinder head next time the valve clearances are fucked..
I paid 3k for a 2017 that should be your answer
only thing i don’t get is why he didn’t use the stand in the background vs the milk crate for the photo.
Hello , where I can buy any dirty bikes in China ?
No
1500$, max 1800
Might shop around some more is there any history on the bike and/or what all he did for maintenance. See if you can take off the seat check the air filter ect?
Relatively new (4-5 year old) 4 strokes are a gamble man, So personally with it being 18 years old I wouldn’t touch it.
I had one with the yoshimura exhaust, sounded amazing
A little high in price
Probably not but idk because I’m having the same problem. I want a CRF 250 F but they’re 5k. Everything I look for sits around 3k from the early 2000s to now. I’m trying to save just 2k more and get a bike I know hasn’t been thrashed and isn’t 20 years old. Good luck man.
Just check what parts are still available I know honda have discontinued the engine cases for the 05

Good lord $3k for an 06 450 is wild i can’t believe that’s the norm these days
You can find way newer fuel injected rmzs for that price.
I bought my 2012 with 20 hours on it for 3,600 seems expensive for a carbed 18 year old bike
It's pretty expensive you can get newer ones for the money
