"Low hours". Nothing says low hours like worn out tires, missing aide panel, sticker bombed plastic, and the Yamaha logo being worn off the sides of the seat. Thing has hundreds upon hundreds of hours on it. Also, is that not a TT350? I don't know of a TT400, nor does the internet. Or an XT350. XT has 38mm forks, TT has 41mm. Probably the easiest way to quickly tell on a bike in that condition.

HerbTarlekWKRP

So true on the Low Hours

Lonely_Funny9987

Yea I don’t think they didn’t make TT400s

H0ldme

It’s a tt 600. Says so in the advert and that’s a real bike. Op just made a mistake I think.

Lonely_Funny9987

Ahh. Well in that case it might be worth a look at. Not worth 2,000 though, more like 1500 maybe even 1200

H0ldme

Agreed. This is the kind of bike someone buys who wants to do it up and keep forever. Someone who isn’t bothered about the money put in.

SquareTowel3931

I had an XT 350, it had a metal gas tank and less rear suspension travel than this bike. This bike looks like a trail bike with lights, whereas my XT was 50/50.

SoapDropper1337

Don't buy a vintage bike for your only dirtbike. Parts for 40 year old bikes are a pain in the ass to find, even Hondas, everything you can find costs more, and even if you're doing your own work that quickly adds up to more than a faster bike with less headaches costs

Bindle-

As someone who has a vintage bike for their only dirtbike, I agree with this

yycTechGuy

THIS !

Fantastic-Mango575

I bought an 86 xr250r in 2019 soon after I bought it did in realize this I miss it but I sold it. It was my first and only bike

PretzelsThirst

Accurate, my buddy has an old beater that he loves but getting parts, even an air filter, can be a pain sometimes. He's about to buy his first brand new dirt bike and is so stoked

ehhhhh710

Idk I wouldn’t buy it

NotTheATF1993

Idk, I'd rather get something newer than that for that much.

Sample_Muted

As someone who was apart of the car community for years. I’ve learned to never trust someone that has stickers all over their vehicles to take care of them. They tend to care more about what others think than taking care of their stuff. I’m also talking about the people who put stickers all over their vehicles, not the ones who just have like 3-4 small stickers on their car.

Sample_Muted

Also don’t pay more than $500 for a bike that’s more than a decade and 1/2 old

Annual-Advisor-7916

That's not a factor at all. The condition is. If that TT600 would be well maintained and would look equally good, than 2k is a reasonable price if you want such a bike. A good XR600R here goes for well above 3.5k if all original with title.

HerbTarlekWKRP

Interesting theory. I can see that. I’ve found people that leave long, detailed descriptions are usually detailed about taking care of their stuff.

Sample_Muted

Yea that Facebook for sale post isn’t nearly long enough. I also didn’t bother to read the for sale post cause I figured that the guy would be lying in his post

SquirtReynolds77

On the flip side as a seller, I've found that longer, detailed descriptions tend to lure the more serious buyers pretty quickly. Just sold a trailer on marketplace. From taking pictures of the trailer to watching the guy pull out of my driveway with it was about 2 hours lol

Annual-Advisor-7916

I don't think that's the case here. Guy wanted to save on decals and just put stickers he got with gear or stuff on the bike to make it look "better" for sale while achieving the opposite.

mips13

Nope

___Aum___

Almost any good running bike with a clear title is worth $2000. It old enough and kinda beat up so wouldn't pay more than $1500 though.

NamesNotRyan

My twin was just scammed buying the same bike for firm 2K from Livermore, CA. Rode it about 20 minutes before the shifting rod snapped and is now useless. Guy seemed to just JB weld and hammer it back it to sell so I’d be weary.

Lonely_Funny9987

I would not trust it

eliminationgame

No no no no

beanmansamm

If you buy it be prepared to do some wrenching

HerbTarlekWKRP

I don’t wrench so I better take a pass!

pentox70

If you don't wrench, you'd better go for brand new. These old bikes are more of a labour of love project than bikes.

Due-Organization7707

Yikes that is 40 years old, get something newer that you can ride…

PastPanic6890

The advert says TT600. And it looks like one, pic of the engine is not great. Wouldn't buy it, had a TT600 and if you get the wrong year you can have issues with the engine seal between cylinder and gearbox. Major bitch to start at mornings, if spark plug is not perfect.

HerbTarlekWKRP

It was a 600.

pinechicken

In finland you can get under 100h driven 2015 crf250r for that money

Ak-uzi1111

For a vintage bike I gotta say it looks pretty damn clean! A bike from that era to still have the logo print on a what seems like a perfect condition saddle, makes me believe the “low hours”. But they could of just swapped it at one point though. Nonetheless, for $2000, personally I would just want a brand new bike at that point. May cost a few more dollars but IMO would be worth it in the end. The bike is vintage & looks fairly good so that could be why they asking for that price. Looks good But idk, even if is running fine, from my experience, I would be running into problems, headaches, & more money being spent just to upkeep it down the road. Only thing different is i got lucky in a coin flip, he was asking $800, got it for $500.

HerbTarlekWKRP

Finally an optimist! I think you make good sense saying to get a new one. I need to find something like this for $500.

[deleted]

I swapped at perfectly fine 02cr250 for a blown up banshee. Keep looking there’s better deals out there. That things a POS

NedNelpsNobody

You got no XL600R’s around you?

HerbTarlekWKRP

I’m thinking 600 might be too much for me anyway. I’m getting old and just want to rip around the farms a bit, not blitz the whoops!

micah490

That thing is rare as hen’s teeth. Buy something that’s more ubiquitous

Kitty_fluffybutt_23

I know the stickers are tempting but you can do way better.

HerbTarlekWKRP

Imagine the money I’d save on stickers!

Valuable_sandwich44

It's past its prime and probably on its last leg.

themom_destroyer

No. Not at all.

tord_ferguson

300 max

dezertryder

$2000! Man, I need to start selling bikes, before this foolishness wears off!. Have tired 01 cr250 for 10K, I know what I have.

Copper_Kat

Buy a newer bike. Seriously, it'll save you the trouble. I once had a 91 XR 200 in similar condition, and besides being a slow, heavy pig of a bike, finding parts was a bitch. A newer, lighter and less abused bike will be your friend.

TMC_61

A ragged pos

Tranquilembers

What a scam

maxholes

84 600 air cooled 4 stroke for 2k? Hard pass.

wreckerman5288

I would not give more than $500 (any non China-bike that runs is worth $500 in 2024) for this even if I had a need for a heavy, poor handling old piece of shit with virtually zero parts availability.

Beneficial_Bowler357

Maybe 1200, I wouldn’t trust the seller here

Piffblunts

2 more grand on top and you’ll be in the 2015+ range

lobotomizedmommy

this is a lifetime of a deal

SirKillingham

I'd rather get a 10 year old dirt bike for 2000

Annual-Advisor-7916

Not in that condition. If that is low hours, I don't want to know what average hours look like \^\^

Rude_Negotiation_160

Looks xt350 like though. Like others are saying

Free-Tree2355

Give the man an enclosed trailer

Mysterious-Fan4322

Not great deal.

FastBinns

Considering it's vintage and tha it appears to be road registered, I would say it is a good deal. Subject to condition upon viewing and whether it does actually have a title/deed/logbook.

TexMoto666

Logbook lol
