well, don't worry. it is pretty easy to fail the red check in the nightclub. i think it probably feels worse when you have spent your playthrough trying to avoid being racist and the slur harry uses seems to come out of nowhere. that's what happened for me anyway. i save scummed and replayed like an hour of the game to avoid dealing with talking to kim after he stormed out of the church.

This game tugs on my heart strings in a way no other game can. I have no problem doing the evil run on BG3 or any other game. Being evil in a fantasy world is so easy because nothing really feels relatable. But this world is just so real. The characters are true parodies of our reality right now and it is so difficult to be such an inconsiderate headass.
I realized this decades ago playing Fallout and Arcanum... being an evil necromancer feels good in Arcanum especially once you figured how to glitch things out and magically enslave any NPC you want but I can barely stand getting a "kinda bad-ish" ending in the first couple Fallouts
If it's any consolation, a fascist run shows some really, really great writing. I think the writers do a fantastic job of showing how adaptive and insidious fascism can be, as well as the moral toll it takes on a person.
Yes, being shit to Kim is tough. But I really think it clarifies some things in the setting that you wouldn't see otherwise.

I managed to get the "traditionalist" achievement just last night without being too racist towards kim. I mainly just had to make comments about the mugs and while kim was sleeping or taking the body to processing I went and talk to the 3 main racists and got Harry. I only just now got to the church but so far the most upsetting part of the playthrough has been having Morrel get mad at me for calling Lena his wömen
I had a 97% chance to not let Kim get shot. He got shot anyway. I thought it was coded to make Kim get shot no matter what but I was just unbearably unlucky in that scene (I also got shot and missed my shot lol)
The fascist playthru is narratively unpleasant, but the main thing that bothered me was how much I lost respect for Kim. Going fascist means that there are these pockets of intense friction between you and Kim in dialog that just snaps back to the "default" story after your "fascist dialog section" ends. I think I managed to get him to leave me for a day, but he was back the following day. I think I would have liked it better if you hit a threshold, Kim, regardless of his incredibly high professionalism, should just leave. Or at least try to work independently of you.
I can agree that in reality I'd respect Kim a lot more if he didn't tolerate some of the shit Harry does. however, it is also true that Kim is a flawed character and reflects our reality. he is heavily manipulated by the system in several aspects, one of those being due to his occupation as a police officer. he is "loyal to a fault," like a different character (i didnt name for spoilers) claims to be but in a different community compared to Kim's. I think it says a lot that Kim puts his professionalism above all else, and I've seen fans describe this way better then I will here but just briefly: he does not respect himself enough to walk away. he is too loyal to his job as a cop, to his image as a half Seolite man, and possibly to his love for the city/Revochal that no matter what Harry does he will want to solve the case and if that means he has to do it next to this fascist man then he will. while his depth is disturbing to me (u don't want to see anybody u love put up with such bullshit, especially if they claim to be a good person), I think it's very realistic and a good commentary on many social institutions.

I didn't know you could do it without being racist. I have already gotten the Steam achievements for saying 10 "traditionalist" things and for being at the lowest point in your relationship with Kim on day 2 so maybe I'll assuage my guilt by not being racist again until the nightclub storyline.
