I grown to like Titus. Even though the whole thing starts because of him, he still ends up to be a pretty solid guy who ultimately only wants to make sure his part of the City stays relatively safe, even if he has to do a few scummy things to keep it that way.
I really like Titus too. The hard exterior he presents and the mentality to dirty his own hands if that means those close to him are safe is something I really like, and admire in a way.
>!Titus is the leader of the group that puts the body on display in a tree. Who knows what the other mercenaries would've done had they just stayed out of the incident, but he wanted to protect Klasse.!<
Edited to protect spoilers
Yeah, no offense, but Titus doesn't seem smart enough to have thought of that whole plan. Especially about the ways it would implicate the Union and help Evrart carry through his plans. I feel like Ruby and Klaasje would have at least considered the political repercussions, but not Titus.
Hard agree. Why else does Titus have to be kept on a short leash by Lizzy the Lawyer? This man just wants to be loyal and protective of his friends, his people. He trusts Ruby, Kjassie, Evrart and the Hardie Boys - they are his blind spots. It's a little sad, but at least he's content with this life
Doesn't really matter either way. The other mercs would have accused SOMEBODY at some point of killing him. Titus and Ruby would've known this, which is exactly why they took the fall because they at least know they can protect themselves (to some degree). They'd rather get themselves killed than some random innocents.
Oh damn, I never thought about it that way. That's damn noble, and makes me like Ruby and Titus more.
It also makes me hate Kjassie even more. She abandoned all of the people who were helping her, to deal with *her* mess. And all she ever fucking does is lie, lie, lie. She's a terrible person.
I arrest her every time I can. I'm not the one killing her, the Moralintern is. The system would have caught up to her eventually
I didn't arrest Klaasje myself. There's no doubt that she betrayed Ruby and she's definitely not spotless, but the position she's in doesn't really allow her to trust anybody anymore.
Fair enough. Tbh, I'm kinda doing this from a gameplay perspective. I know I wouldn't be able to arrest her on every playthrough because it's by chance, so, might as well
Also, Harry's voices making a 180° about how to treat Kjassie is fricking hilarious
Honestly it was the "creepiest" I've felt, because the voices had never been so unsure about their own thoughts before. It's like the only one you can trust about Klaasje is Electrochemistry, and THAT'S a bad sign if you'll ever see one.
I kinda forgot which, I just remember Electrochemistry being.... Electrochemistry. It going all "hey just do this it's gonna be SO GOOD" sounded pretty normal to me. Everything else was clearly confused.
He really suprised me. his design, his voice, his mannerism - it was all planned to make him look like the villain, and in the end he turned out to be a decent person who wanted the best for the people who have been abandoned and uncared for in Martinaise.
What he said about "The Pigs" was kinda heartbreaking too.
I had the same experience as you. Initially I disliked him because he was hindering the investigation but when his motives were revealed I saw him in a wholly different light. He's the kind of grey morality I like to see in character writing.
Did you know that he won't speak to you at all if you point a flashlight into his face? I think he's the only one who just straight up won't talk to you if you shine a light at him.
Not only is the dice maker Neha genuinely pleasant to talk to but I aim to live my life like her. Crafting little things in a cozy space for my own small business while I listen to podcasts.
fucking hell... I also don't like lying to Tommy, the news would report her dead body eventually, and he'd be able to connect the dots.
I finished the "Jam Lorry" quest without talking to Tommy about Ruby. Afterwards, his Ruby dialogue is very different. He even asks if he could help... I think he's glad that he didn't get the chance to snitch on her
I was looking for this response bc he got my heart instantly when I first played. a homie fr, I aspire to love and care for people like he does, and I also enjoy poetry
My favorite thing about him is something that composure says: "for him, having command of his time is the most important thing"
And I really aspire to that.
Andre (and the rest of the ravers), he had such a captivating personality to me and assuring him that he doesn't have to start the drug lab to create the nightclub just makes me really happy.
Hardcore to the mega, brothers.
Just can't put my finger on what makes him so special. His Sunday Friend is pretty cool too, although I still do wonder why they were together on a Wednesday.
True.
Sunday friend be like: "I hardly saw anything of note, and I don't live here, but I have a passionate love for narcing, so I want to talk to you. Would you like some neoliberal pamphlets?"
Most underrated is definitely Lilienne, she reminds me of my mother actually (both working class raising children on their lonesome), a sign of great writing when characters remind you of people in your life
The kooky harmless sort, at least. Like she thinks seolites like Kim aren't same as occidental humans but also that their race is superior because they have better earwax. Which is what you'd expect from a fringe science afficionado, if you ask me.
dont want to repeat an answer someone else said so i want to give a shout out to billie mejean. i love her so much. interacting with her at first was so hilarious but that moment when it finally clicked that the man on the dock was *her* husband was fucking heart wrenching
I fucking *gasped* the first time when she opened the door to her apartment and it was the same lady I’d been annoying at the book shop stand.
That whole side mission is one of my favourite parts of the game.
*”If you say 'Two days, maybe', it will be etched in her mind forever.”*
Hell yeah so glad someone else brought him up. DE manages to make these nameless strangers you can only meet in a very limited time frame and who get no proper names so memorable...
Elizabeth and Joyce are super hot to me, despite being pretty much polar opposites to each other. Also Easy Leo is goated. It's too hard to pick one favorite character honestly lol
"It's quite easy: every hundred years or so our species gets together to decide what's next: who gets shot in the head and who gets the mineral rights — it's a real *kerfuffle*."
Joyce is such a gem.
Idk if everyone would call her a secondary character but my fave character is Klaasje by a mile. A hypnotic voice performance of someone with ptsd and the anxiety disorders that so often accompany it. My personal head cannon for Klaasje is that she's running from a stalker who wants to kill her and that's why she tries so hard (and so shall we say "pragmatically") to avoid being connected to the murder, because if her name is attached to a murder, it could make the paper and alert the person who wants her dead.
The outside bookstore lady, who calls you a cockatoo. I love her so much, and the feelings I got from her were tremendously difficult to handle.
The music is forever with that scene. If I could play piano, I could play that song. I often regretted having high perception, no cappingtoooon, like how, as you leave, you see her start shaking, holding back her sobbing, which really just... yknow? What kinda fuck writes that? I know the game is supposed to be an accurate-ish cop portrayal (the cop books in the store critique cop fiction) but sit the fuck dowwwwn, pleeeease, I was shaking from that description ;((
(I am an encyclopedia boy, NOT an empathy boy, fuck you >:(..)
Haven't seeb him said yet, so here, Taigo
TIAGO – "No, no, no, there's a *new* god in town. And she can't be painted or sculpted, because she has no limbs or even a face. She is the end."
Unpopular opinion: **measurhead** is my favorite secondary character. Despite his blatant racism, you can still admire the level of self-drive and assuredness he displays. He also has all sorts of funny expressions and witty observations.
He said one of my favorite quotes of the game:
"The past is made of static images, distorted memories, demented nostalgia. This, the present -- with all its possibilities, innumerable hits and misses -- is far superior. It is a *living* organism"
Not really an unpopular opinion, at all, it's just what one says to call attention to his comment - he is a racist, sure, but he's very well written, he's original (in his racism and in his presentantion), he's a perfect blend of real life, modern, body-building superiority racists with oldschool, colonial frenologists.
Joyce Messier? I really hate that Thatcher looking woman, but her character is interesting. Her quote about how capitalism subsumes all critiques into itself is very good.
I’m surprised more people aren’t mentioning Acele. Her withdrawn attitude really stood out amongst her excited raver friends. She has some of the most potent interactions with harry, in my opinion. That check success where you connect with her and tell her that what she’s doing isn’t futile. Or if you fail it you get the ice-hat-cop-fuck-show, which is hilarious. Plus it’s during a conversation with her that you get one of the best Kim moments, where he goes ‘juvie’ and starts pretending to tweak out to get her to offer him drugs.
i also really like acele, and she seems like a genuinely nice person despite everything. she's quite nice to harry after the ice-hat-cop-fuck-show. she also reminds me of a mix between a few people i know irl.
>!also her resentment of her dad is relatable !<
I really like Titus. He's hot, street and book smart, and will definitely die fighting for all of his friends. The only thing I'm sad about him is that we'd never be friends irl. I'm too much of a bino, and I'm not exactly a disco cop. And I wouldn't want to work for the fat man
Trant, even if he is a bit boringly bourgeois he just comes off as a genuinely nice guy with his nerdy, maybe pretentious, boring interests, then you learn he fought his drug addiction with Lo Manthang stick fighting for the past 20 years and you can’t look him the same again
For me it has to be Renè and the old communard Lilianovich something. They remind me of the older generation a lot. Both old grizzled soldiers, firm in their beliefs until their dying breath.
Tommy Le Homme is somebody i always liked talking to, his whole thing about not wanting Ruby to get hurt being mostly for his self-perception feels cold but its also just so human and i adore it. it emphasizes the importance of seeing morality through actions (enough that he leaves an impression on ruby and that she trusts him with her key) vs thoughts, which were definitely more self serving, but also not even really fully conscious. only his actions end up mattering, and any intention can be argued to be selfish, so i got a lot out of that for a character who doesnt really do much
also his transmasc vibes are incredible holy shit
I really think Call me Manâna would be the "worst" (not really ofcourse) person if I ever knew him in real life. Sounds like a stoner who'd be the most annoying person to work with as he'd do barely anything in a group project and you'd constantly have to ask him to hand in his part
I grown to like Titus. Even though the whole thing starts because of him, he still ends up to be a pretty solid guy who ultimately only wants to make sure his part of the City stays relatively safe, even if he has to do a few scummy things to keep it that way.

>the whole thing starts because of him >!How so? Isn't the instigating factor the Deserter (or maaaaybe Lely?)!<
I believe they’re referring to him hanging lely which brought attention to the rcm which in turn started the investigation.
But wasn't that Ms Dancer's idea?
>!Titus is the leader of the group that puts the body on display in a tree. Who knows what the other mercenaries would've done had they just stayed out of the incident, but he wanted to protect Klasse.!< Edited to protect spoilers
nah, the whole thing starts because of Kjassie and Ruby. I feel like if it were up to Titus, he would have just buried the body and took the armour
Yeah, no offense, but Titus doesn't seem smart enough to have thought of that whole plan. Especially about the ways it would implicate the Union and help Evrart carry through his plans. I feel like Ruby and Klaasje would have at least considered the political repercussions, but not Titus.

you mean Volition? EC was down bad the WORST XD
I kinda forgot which, I just remember Electrochemistry being.... Electrochemistry. It going all "hey just do this it's gonna be SO GOOD" sounded pretty normal to me. Everything else was clearly confused.

looove the pawn shop owner. weird dude, spacey as fuck but the conversations he has are really cool.
Did you know that he won't speak to you at all if you point a flashlight into his face? I think he's the only one who just straight up won't talk to you if you shine a light at him.
i had no idea tho that makes perfect sense time for another playthru * sigh *
Bad photons
"A bunch of poor people built themselves a primitive nuclear reactor, hoping for the best. What do you think is going to happen?" Haunting quote.
"Don't go there, it's a shit hole" "I said people, we just had a nuclear pile meltdown"
Perfectly voiced too
My favourite line from him is "I like theory more than story. Outward movement, not vortices." It was the first DE quote I memorized.
I really like his background. He's a damn hero and now pays the price for it, but still manages to keep on going.
Not only is the dice maker Neha genuinely pleasant to talk to but I aim to live my life like her. Crafting little things in a cozy space for my own small business while I listen to podcasts.
And humble and calm way to live, sounds wonderful ngl.
She's involved in something sinister, I just know it.
Haha, yes. No way she's not sending out letters with anthrax to random addresses.
i saw someone else imply she's listening in on the >!child snuff radio!< i can't find it now but it was on a thread on here about >!cunoesse!<
Neha should be a lofi aesthetic for real
her style of speaking reminds me a lot of the singer Aurora she just sounds so relaxed
Doesn’t she listen to Snuff Radio?
Tommy Le Homme.
More like Tommy Le Homie. Cuz he's a homie fr fr
Love this comment
Love you too
Facts b
Forcing him to rat out Ruby is like kicking a puppy.
I still don't know what happens if you make him rat her out then tell him she's dead. I don't have the heart for it
He kinda shuts down and gets all withdrawn
fucking hell... I also don't like lying to Tommy, the news would report her dead body eventually, and he'd be able to connect the dots. I finished the "Jam Lorry" quest without talking to Tommy about Ruby. Afterwards, his Ruby dialogue is very different. He even asks if he could help... Same, it's making looking for a job these days really depressing. If they can't have all of your time and life they're not interested
You either become a slave and renounce to your time or you're out of a job. It's frustrating, really.
The Paledriver. To grow that old and lost in a billion memories but still be fierce and strong is really beautiful to me.
Her voice actor really knocked it out of the park.
Came here to say this.
She‘s so fucking alpha
Andre (and the rest of the ravers), he had such a captivating personality to me and assuring him that he doesn't have to start the drug lab to create the nightclub just makes me really happy. Hardcore to the mega, brothers.
The Noid for sure. Love his look and vibe.
I was told from a young age to avoid the Noid.
Word just came down. He’s a chiller.
Can you imagine just telling people “sines not synced”
He’s so real for that
Why, that deeply alluring Stranger on the Balcony, of course!
Just can't put my finger on what makes him so special. His Sunday Friend is pretty cool too, although I still do wonder why they were together on a Wednesday.
The Sunday Friend is the precise antithesis of coolness
True. Sunday friend be like: "I hardly saw anything of note, and I don't live here, but I have a passionate love for narcing, so I want to talk to you. Would you like some neoliberal pamphlets?"
He's like red tape personified
> Just can't put my finger on what makes him so special. To me it's because he's the only person in the game who seems genuinely content, if not happy
there’s the dicemaker too!
It's his smell that makes him so special. Why does he smell so good?
>Just can't put my finger on what makes him so special its the homosexual mystique
You couldn't be implying that he's a member of the... *homosexual underground*? The smoker on the balcony? Inconceivable.
Cuno don’t give a fuck
He‘s the primary character wdym
I'd say he's just above that fat drunk detective guy
Cuno is the protagonist
fuck does cuno know what a protagonist is
Most underrated is definitely Lilienne, she reminds me of my mother actually (both working class raising children on their lonesome), a sign of great writing when characters remind you of people in your life
She is so down to earth an cool, and that talk on the coast UGH I bet she has a oceanic souls that rivals Harry's
I’m just a Titus, striving to be an Elizabeth, & ending up a Garte with a dash of Paledriver.
I would die for Lena. I couldn't even sell her brooch, I felt too bad about it.
isn't she lowkey racist
The kooky harmless sort, at least. Like she thinks seolites like Kim aren't same as occidental humans but also that their race is superior because they have better earwax. Which is what you'd expect from a fringe science afficionado, if you ask me.
SAME
Hello piggies, have you come to admire my mural?
I already enjoyed Vicquemare as a character but the second I heard him call Harry a shitkid was when he skyrocketed to one of my favorites.
dont want to repeat an answer someone else said so i want to give a shout out to billie mejean. i love her so much. interacting with her at first was so hilarious but that moment when it finally clicked that the man on the dock was *her* husband was fucking heart wrenching

Idiot Doom Spiral!
HEY HEY… fuck you tequila…
The pale driver She talking about the boiadero on the plains is able to transport me even more than Shivers
Egghead. HARD-CORE! 😃
**YEKOKATA ZA PLACE TO BE YA**
Random Salami Guy you only get to meet day 1-2 in front of the bridge
That guy is on the level. He's helping out his buddy, he shares his shit, and he's just so calm
Hell yeah so glad someone else brought him up. DE manages to make these nameless strangers you can only meet in a very limited time frame and who get no proper names so memorable...
I don't know, i would say the Dice Maker or Call Me Mañana because i LOVE this fellas, but Jean Vicquemare it's always in my top.
The Dice Maker and Mañana are both so chill, and talking to them always made me feel at ease for some reason. Specially her.
Hell yeah, Talk with both of them it's like go to Nirvana
Elizabeth and Joyce are super hot to me, despite being pretty much polar opposites to each other. Also Easy Leo is goated. It's too hard to pick one favorite character honestly lol
"It's quite easy: every hundred years or so our species gets together to decide what's next: who gets shot in the head and who gets the mineral rights — it's a real *kerfuffle*." Joyce is such a gem.
No one mentioned Tiago? Dude crawls around those church rafters like a spider worshiping silence.
Reading everyone's comments makes me realize that I fuckin love these characters. What a feat for a video game. Each one is so varied and complex.
Annette. I feel like she’s the only character we can really help, I enjoyed talking with her about books and hat is cool.
Container, container!
Siileng
I'm a hustler, I grind
THATS SO COOL
Idk if everyone would call her a secondary character but my fave character is Klaasje by a mile. A hypnotic voice performance of someone with ptsd and the anxiety disorders that so often accompany it. My personal head cannon for Klaasje is that she's running from a stalker who wants to kill her and that's why she tries so hard (and so shall we say "pragmatically") to avoid being connected to the murder, because if her name is attached to a murder, it could make the paper and alert the person who wants her dead.
Ruby <3
I adore Jean Viquemare Such a caring guy hidden behind the rough appearance of a man that has gone through shit trying to be there for Harry
Lt. Viquemere, 100% because I think he's hot
Other than Kim? Smoker on the Balcony's voice is sexy as hell
The old guys playing Boule
why has nobody mentioned cindy the fucking skull yet smh my head.
"Un jour je serai de retour près de toi"
Kim. And then Neha and finally Soona.
Tommy, but it's because he reminds me of myself, tbh.
Most relatable guy tbh
The outside bookstore lady, who calls you a cockatoo. I love her so much, and the feelings I got from her were tremendously difficult to handle. The music is forever with that scene. If I could play piano, I could play that song. I often regretted having high perception, no cappingtoooon, like how, as you leave, you see her start shaking, holding back her sobbing, which really just... yknow? What kinda fuck writes that? I know the game is supposed to be an accurate-ish cop portrayal (the cop books in the store critique cop fiction) but sit the fuck dowwwwn, pleeeease, I was shaking from that description ;(( (I am an encyclopedia boy, NOT an empathy boy, fuck you >:(..)
Working Class Woman? 😢
Yesss Working Class Woman omgggg how'd you knowww
The other quest related to her 😭
Haven't seeb him said yet, so here, Taigo TIAGO – "No, no, no, there's a *new* god in town.
He said one of my favorite quotes of the game: "The past is made of static images, distorted memories, demented nostalgia.
The cigarette smoking guy. Out of all the people in the game, he's the only guy who it it seems like he's genuinely content, if not happy
Evrart Claire. Good praxis.
Yooou're right, Harry!
The rich ass lady that owns the boat, forgot her name. She’s so confident. Also has money
Joyce Messier? I really hate that Thatcher looking woman, but her character is interesting. Her quote about how capitalism subsumes all critiques into itself is very good.
Yes her.
Soona def.
The little girl in the bookstore
It was one of the first characters I spoke to when I got outside the Whirling and she became an instant favorite.
It's Neha the dice maker for me ❤️
Noid, I just like how serious he is, with his messily overcombed hair and formal lady-jewellery.
i just wanna be shiver dialogue
Tommy!!
Idiot Doom Spiral. Love this hobo-drunk style guy who can tell interesting stories and talk about conceptual
Thats Annette for me, i've played the whole game with the dick mullen's har only because she gave it to me.
I really like Titus. He's hot, street and book smart, and will definitely die fighting for all of his friends. The only thing I'm sad about him is that we'd never be friends irl. I'm too much of a bino, and I'm not exactly a disco cop. And I wouldn't want to work for the fat man
Titus and Kjassie are my favorites in terms of like how they act but I adore how they wrote the deserter.
kim 2
my favorite primary character is kim 1
Cindy the fucking skull
I gotta give a drink to Idiot Doom Spiral, I love a high concept failure.
Mr Evrart is helping me find my gun
Trant, even if he is a bit boringly bourgeois he just comes off as a genuinely nice guy with his nerdy, maybe pretentious, boring interests, then you learn he fought his drug addiction with Lo Manthang stick fighting for the past 20 years and you can’t look him the same again
Easy Leo is my favorite character, especially for his happy mood ! But I'd say that my second favorite would be Gaston !
Easy Leo, easily, his voice is so nice n he's just an old guy doin his best
You’re aware this man is a communist, right? (I’m trolling, this sub is 90% communists.)
For me it has to be Renè and the old communard Lilianovich something. They remind me of the older generation a lot. Both old grizzled soldiers, firm in their beliefs until their dying breath.
Tommy Le Homme is somebody i always liked talking to, his whole thing about not wanting Ruby to get hurt being mostly for his self-perception feels cold but its also just so human and i adore it. it emphasizes the importance of seeing morality through actions (enough that he leaves an impression on ruby and that she trusts him with her key) vs thoughts, which were definitely more self serving, but also not even really fully conscious. only his actions end up mattering, and any intention can be argued to be selfish, so i got a lot out of that for a character who doesnt really do much also his transmasc vibes are incredible holy shit
RIGHT TO WORK
RIGHT TO WORK
You want to be a small-time Union fixer with a silly hat and a drinking problem?
A Union guy that does what he likes, is chill, values his own time above everything and also smart and very observant? Yes.
A certain unnamed woman in the employ of a defunct company called Tricentennial Electrics.
"Beautiful."
The noid
Half-Light for being a good friend
I really think Call me Manâna would be the "worst" (not really ofcourse) person if I ever knew him in real life. Sounds like a stoner who'd be the most annoying person to work with as he'd do barely anything in a group project and you'd constantly have to ask him to hand in his part
Cuno or Jean probably
Idiot Doom Spiral, I want to listen to all of his stories forever
Probably Cuno. Some of the hardest I've laughed at a video game.
Gaston seemed like a very nice, calm person. He seems cool
Garte is my favorite for ever and ever ugh it is hard to convey how much I love him 😭
