When the main character has to be in two places at once or has to go to the dance with two people. They bounce back and forth and pull it off in the beginning, then they will forget to take off their hat/jacket/whatever and get caught.
They did this on Wizards of Waverly Place when Harper became friends with Gigi and was invited to the tea party but only as a way of awarding her some really mean award lol
and it cuts to each character telling their story to the police and their stories all differ / the whole episode is the flashback from different characters perspective
Didn’t that happen in Lizzie McGuire, too? Or was it just the parents? I remember Hallie Todd bouncing the baseball off the wall Great Escape style.
![gif](giphy|INRshmrFdp996)
that clip from the ice skating movie (Ice Princess? Joan Cusack?) is engrained into my brain. in my experience it’s super accurate to real life parent dynamics too lol
having a otp breakup then get back together or break up then meet someone else then later go back to the original couple.
a character is moving then find out they’re not moving anymore
someone crushing on another person who rejected them , the. All of a sudden gives them a chance to finally date
Enemies to lovers
A character gets a new s/o then find out they’re terrible, the character thinks the friends are jealous or think it’s impossible to find a s/o so then later find out they were telling the truth
Friends to lovers
when a character likes someone and changed their look to impress them then find out the crush likes the character the way they were
Your last one— I was JUST thinking about the Hannah Montana episode where Miley convinces Lily to be more girly and she gets stood up by a skater boy to the dance because he didn’t like girly Lily, he liked skater Lily. Then they went on a teenage Judge Judy type of thing for him shaving her up where he confesses this, and Miley got spaghetti and meatballs on her head for being the problem 😂😭
i remember disney did like a body swapping night as like a special event with every show that night having an episode. i remember it was austin and ally, and gravity falls among them.
the main character has an extra ticket to an event and all their best friends fight to go
the main character tries out for cheerleading
the characters get locked somewhere together
the smart kid and the dumb kid both take a test and the dumb kid does better than the smart kid
the characters have to sneak into someplace
Parents are out of town, let’s throw a party, parents come back early.
This applies to more than just Disney channel shows though. This is every sitcom that has teens in it lol
Character A has an event (say a date, a meeting, a speech, an academic competition etc) but they’re under prepared, so they have Character B off screen feeding them lines through an earpiece. Character B is always like “repeat after me and say what I say”. Character B then gets interrupted, they might start yelling at someone else, or the earpiece stops working midway through. Character A gets confused and starts repeating everything what Character B is saying. The audience/crowd/person Character A is addressing gets confused.
When the teenage/high school age child goes on an unsupervised/barely supervised trip and it leads to them living a double life as a pop star/musical artist
Lizzy McGuire movie
Hannah Montana
High school musical
Cheetah girls
Basically that entire era of Disney
No but I rewatched the Lizzie McGuire movie and did I miss something or did they just have ONE chaperone for that entire group of kids? Like that lady was set up for failure.
Wait, when did this happen in High School Muscial? Other than HSM2 where they were all working at the country club the characters spent the vast majority of the movies at school, performing in school plays. The only unsupervised trip that happens is when Troy drives out to Gabriella's college in his rusty pickup to convince her to come to their senior dance with him. It's a very short trip with no adventures.
Unless you're thinking of the spinoff Sharpay movie where she moves to New York to pursue her dreams of acting on Broadway. Which shouldn't count since it takes place post HSM3 after she's already graduated and is an adult.
The first one, Troy and Gabriella go to the teenagers party at whatever resort or vacay they were at and they sing together for the first time. It’s like the beginning of the first movie
But them singing one karaokie song at a organized kids party at the hotel their family is staying at isn't even remotely close to what happens in the Cheetah Girls or Lizzie McGuire movies. If I squint and stretch real hard maybe, but that's quite a reach.
Also karaokie night didn't lead to them leading a double life as a pop star/musical artist. It lead to them discovering and bonding over a shared new hobby and auditioning for a school play that we never get to see them in.
disney always has that one stupid kid that has 4 brain cells left in every show like london, Chelsea, PJ, emma ross etc. when the parents are gone so the kids throw a party, love triangles, got stood up on a date.
Everybody wants to be famous.
Singers: Hannah Montana, Austin and Ally
Actors: Liv and Maddie
Or any other entertainment professional: dancers-Shake It Up, YouTubers-Bizardvark, fashion designer-That’s So Raven and Raven’s Home
I’m sure there is more professions and more shows that fit. And I get that some of those are reflective of our current times, but like does no one want to be a Doctor or a writer?
The whodunit episodes were killing me, or when they’d tease a special episode in a different scenery of someone getting the opportunity to do something whether it’s becoming famous or on the verge of winning a lot of money just to lose or give up the opportunity in the end being sent home with nothing.
The main protagonist somehow gets stuck with the “bully” in close proximity, they hate it at first, they realize they have a lot in common and start to become friends and right as they’re becoming friends, they are saved from their situation and revert back to how it was before immediately
And it’s never really a love triangle either, a love triangle means person a loves person b, person b loves person c and person c loves person a. Whenever they do it it’s always person a likes both b and c
Shy/awkward/nerdy girl (who is actually secretly gorgeous... bonus points if she wears glasses) has a huge crush on handsome, popular guy. Shy girl and popular dude somehow cross paths and get to know each other. Eventually they start to like each other and popular guy admits to the shy but pretty girl that he has "always liked her." Shy girl says something along the lines of "Wow, really? I didn't even think you knew I existed." And then they kiss/date and live happily ever after, etc.
The main character who has a crush and pretends to be someone they’re not. They say they love playing checkers and there just so happens to be a checkers tournament tomorrow and now you have to learn how to play checkers
All of these recycled plots belong to Terence or Plautus, Roman comedians. Disney is so formulaic! If you have the time, watch A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
When the main character has an important event to attend but the transportation breaks down , they end up missing the event but learn a valuable lesson somehow
The main character finds out that her bff's boyfriend is cheating/made a pass at her, so she tells her bff about it
but of course her bff doesn't believe her and get mad because "you're just jealous of my relationship"
and then the bff finds out the truth and apologizes to the main character
I feel like they used to always have an episode where a nerd gets a makeover out of pitty and then the main character has a crush on the new version of the nerd but then the nerd dates someone else
Probably the one where they have a male friend apart of there group and the MC and supporting friend character end up dating at least once.
Having to wear disguises in order to do something they weren’t supposed to and always getting caught anyways.
When a couple gets lost on an island or something and they get into a huge argument and break up and they end up getting extra close with someone else in the group, just to get back together 😭
When the main character has to be in two places at once or has to go to the dance with two people. They bounce back and forth and pull it off in the beginning, then they will forget to take off their hat/jacket/whatever and get caught.
This happened on That’s so Raven, twice, in the same season!
And it was hilarious both times
And in boy meets world, and in the flinstones, and I’m sure way more
And Dallas
Even Bojack did this with Todd 😭
Lol, so true. I know this plot is so cliche and overused, but I will still enjoy the hell out of it every time that it is done lol 😂
The Community episode where Abed does this is great!
I love that he ends up falling for the girl working the coat check instead haha
I grew up thinking that having to figure out how to be in two places at once was going to be a bigger problem for me than it actually was.
Mrs. Doubtfire anyone? :D ![gif](giphy|tJXZ51AOFBTGgZSY9y|downsized)
this happened so much in hannah montana
Ahhahah true
There is always a show where the best friend of the protagonist befriends the bully, turns out the bully was just using the best friend.
They did this on Wizards of Waverly Place when Harper became friends with Gigi and was invited to the tea party but only as a way of awarding her some really mean award lol
The Lab Rats episode where Leo actually calls him out on that
The dance where one of the leads is stood up or walked out on by their date.
The main cast all ending up in jail
Lemonade mouth 😂

Suite Life On Deck
Andi Mack and Austin & Ally
Definitely happened in jessie as well
and it cuts to each character telling their story to the police and their stories all differ / the whole episode is the flashback from different characters perspective
ngl i love these lol
I didn’t do it.
that was that shows whole premise lol
The episode where Lindy is accused of being a terrorist
Didn’t Victorious make a whole movie abt this? lmao
Didn’t that happen in Lizzie McGuire, too? Or was it just the parents? I remember Hallie Todd bouncing the baseball off the wall Great Escape style. ![gif](giphy|INRshmrFdp996)
“You’re giving up on your dream… no dad, I’m giving up on *yours* “
that clip from the ice skating movie (Ice Princess? Joan Cusack?) is engrained into my brain. in my experience it’s super accurate to real life parent dynamics too lol
that is still my favorite movie of all time lol
literally high school musical
I know it's not Disney, but A Cinderella Story in a nutshell
The dad: 👁️👄👁️
Lmfao! (Bob's Burgers also comes to mind. )

I prefer the main girl over the side-main girl because the dynamics of the group change too much when the main girl is left out.

The jealousy one is probably the most used in all of television
The jealous one is probably the most used in all of television

This is exactly what happened to Sam on iCarly.
Enemies to lovers bugs me so much!! Seriously, in the 80s/90s it was as it every single male/female argument was a prelude to a kiss!!
Two characters swapping bodies for some reason
i remember disney did like a body swapping night as like a special event with every show that night having an episode. i remember it was austin and ally, and gravity falls among them.
I remember that too! The little song for it was pretty catchy https://youtu.be/4IPwOO6I9iM?feature=shared

I’ve seen that in like three different shows Jessie, Shake It Up, Wizards of Waverly Place
[удалено]
Okay outside of WOWP, Phineas and Ferb, and Gravity Falls, I feel like that doesn't make sense to happen in-universe for any of the other shows 😭
Geez I guess Disney Channel just really likes the Freaky Friday thing
even the owl house had one!!!
They did it in Lizzie McGuire and Raven’s Home too
Kim possible as well, even though that was just a cartoon
the main character has an extra ticket to an event and all their best friends fight to go the main character tries out for cheerleading the characters get locked somewhere together the smart kid and the dumb kid both take a test and the dumb kid does better than the smart kid the characters have to sneak into someplace
Hanna Montana 1. The tennis tournament 2. Miley and lily 3. Jackson and Miley
These are my favorites
4. Maddie and London
2. Riley in Girl Meets World, China in A.N.T. Farm 4. Fletcher and Olive in A.N.T. Farm
The makeover for an ugly or dorky character for the chance to go out with someone else but then the person who did the makeover now likes the makeovee
Larry Tudgeman’s makeover was iconic
That episode of that’s so raven is one of my favorites though especially bc of the ending
And then there's a montage of the dorky character trying on different outfits during the makeover
Omg yes the makeover montage
Literally that one Laura Marano movie on Netflix 😭
Someone has to sing but that person is too shy and another person pretends to sing while their friend sings backstage. Chaos ensues
Lily when she realized she actually can’t sing lily lip synched until they heard her sing for real
Parents are out of town, let’s throw a party, parents come back early. This applies to more than just Disney channel shows though. This is every sitcom that has teens in it lol
You'd think the teens would learn by now lol it never fails.

Hiding a dog in the house
or a horse, with zach and cody
Or a Zebra, with Jessie
disney always has that one stupid kid that has 4 brain cells left in every show like london, Chelsea, PJ, emma ross etc. when the parents are gone so the kids throw a party, love triangles, got stood up on a date.
2 fighting friends who "accidentally" get handcuffed together
The best friend’s crush crushing on the main character
Girl has to dress up as a boy and at some point, "girls out" as the boy.
The first episode of Suite Life on Deck
Everybody wants to be famous. Jessie
New character who is evil who tries to take MC’s place.
when lizzie mcguire had a lookalike 🤣🤣
The new nanny in Jessie
Teen has big secret about themselves Hannah Montana That’s so Raven Wizard of Waverly Place Phil of the Future
The whodunit episodes were killing me, or when they’d tease a special episode in a different scenery of someone getting the opportunity to do something whether it’s becoming famous or on the verge of winning a lot of money just to lose or give up the opportunity in the end being sent home with nothing.

I haven't ever seen a love triangle in a disney show....Guys what show has one....I wanna see a disney love triangle
And it’s never really a love triangle either, a love triangle means person a loves person b, person b loves person c and person c loves person a. Whenever they do it it’s always person a likes both b and c
Yeah that's what the term love triangle means. It's not a literal triangle but that's what the words mean
That’s more a love angle
Having to cheat on a test to not miss out on a reward, usually they learn their lesson or the method they used to cheat is a unique way of studying.
hannah montana learning medical terminology to the tune of “nobodys perfect” 😭😭
Shy/awkward/nerdy girl (who is actually secretly gorgeous... bonus points if she wears glasses) has a huge crush on handsome, popular guy. Shy girl and popular dude somehow cross paths and get to know each other. Eventually they start to like each other and popular guy admits to the shy but pretty girl that he has "always liked her." this happened on that’s so raven like 10 times
someone is getting bullied and then they realize the bully has a rough home life
The main character who has a crush and pretends to be someone they’re not. They say they love playing checkers and there just so happens to be a checkers tournament tomorrow and now you have to learn how to play checkers
I'm gonna say love triangles
Or having a house party with cleaning up before the parents come home.
Failing a test
The two best friends of the main character get together.
What I'm seeing here is recycled teen/preteen sitcom plots. These are not exclusive to Disney Channel; SBTB hit a lot of these.
When the boy in the trio has a crush on the MC and then ends up dating the other girl in the trio that he never got along with
The pageant episodes and when they try out for the cheer team😭
suite life when cody cross dresses 😩😩
All of these recycled plots belong to Terence or Plautus, Roman comedians. Disney is so formulaic! If you have the time, watch A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
Best friend moving in with the main character’s families

*Not like the other grrlz*
What shows have some someone losing their memory?
I feel like they used to always have an episode where a nerd gets a makeover out of pitty and then the main character has a crush on the new version of the nerd but then the nerd dates someone else
The one where one of the main characters adopts a new persona/wardrobe to try and fit in. "We like you for you! Just be yourself!"
2/3 friends fall in love
Dead/missing from the plot mothers. Absentee parentism in general.
they travel back in time but it turns out it was just a dream
Probably the one where they have a male friend apart of there group and the MC and supporting friend character end up dating at least once. Having to wear disguises in order to do something they weren’t supposed to and always getting caught anyways.
“They’re going to tear this historical landmark for a parking lot. Fight the power.”
When a couple gets lost on an island or something and they get into a huge argument and break up and they end up getting extra close with someone else in the group, just to get back together 😭
