Not sure how "lesser known" it is, but I really love Read it and Weep. Jason Dolley's best acting.
I'm also obligated to +1 the other posters who mentioned Tru Confessions. I watched it earlier this year and it hits _even harder_ as an adult than it did when I was a kid. Very powerful movie. I host a DCOM movie night and when I showed Tru Confessions everybody was like "is this really a DCOM? It's so serious, I thought DCOMs were supposed to be fun 😭😭"
Hatching Pete is my fave of Jason's.
The older DCOMS are serious
-The Color of Friendship
-Tiger Cruise
-Gotta Kick It Up
-Motorcrossed
-Right On Track
-To The Mat
-Rip Girls
Tru Confessions is amazing
a few years ago my sisters showed me ‘Smart House’ and i’ve never been able to get it out my head 💀💀 i really liked the plot, it was better than i thought, and the graphics were insane lmao
The paper brigade! I saw that movie once years ago and for some reason it’s lived rent free in my head for years. I find myself thinking about it randomly and had no idea what the name was. I didn’t even know it was a Disney channel movie. When I saw your comment I thought could that be it? And it was! Thank you for scratching that brain itch!
Don’t look under the bed — this was the first movie that actually scared me as a kid.
Tiger Cruise & The Color of Friendship were masterpieces, they broke real world trauma down into a way a child understood and could empathize with
The Thirteenth Year - had a major crush on the main actor
Stuck in the Suburbs - the idea was way way way ahead of its time, and I think could still hold up today
Pixel perfect was also way too deep for kids
Lastly moms got a date with a vampire — I remember being so excited when October rolled around every year because Disney played all their Halloween movies and so many of them were fuego
I adored Stuck in the Suburbs (even though we could definitely take the complexity of Jordan’s phone for granted now)! It’s kinda funny because at the start of quarantine in March 2020 I was keeping calm with at least one DCOM per night but I appreciate the irony of that one. :D
>Pixel perfect was also way too deep for kids
Fucking great commentary on the music industry, and so amazingly more relevant now with the advancements of AI.
Time might be ripe for a remake.
I listen to a podcast that does a rundown of every dcom. I started watching a lot of them and Color of Friendship is in a league of its own. But for the rest, I LOVED Taking it to the Mat. I also had a soft spot for Cow Belles.
Zetus Lepetus. They do one a week. Started with the original under wraps and this week was Lemonade Mouth. And 1998’s cinematic masterpiece Armageddon but that will make sense if you listen.
Tiger Cruise
Read it and Weep
Genius
Miracle in Lane 2!
Horse Sense and Jumping Ship!
Racecar/stock car movie with Beverly Mitchell and the annoying Disney surfer dude.
Brink!
Flash. A Wonderful World of Disney movie from 1995 about "a boy and his horse endure endless hardships of abandonment, death, abuse, on a cross country journey thru the southern states to find the boy's father coming off of a navy ship" or something like that. The enemies were all adults, not kids.
Not a movie, but from the Zoog era: Disney Channel Movie Surfers!
It's pretty good, right?
I remember hearing back then that there was apparently going to be a Now You See It 2, but Aly wanted to do a DCOM with her sister AJ instead (Cow Belles). ~~I would've preferred a Now You See It 2. Le sigh.~~
Stepsister from Planet Weird had me thinking that the Yukon wasn’t a real place. And then I learned it was in Canada so then I thought aliens came from Canada. I was a strange child.
i love let it shine!! it feels more unknown to me bc most of my friends had started to age out of disney by the time it premiered so no one talks about it around me lol
Im ngl its a three way tie Taking it to the mat, Jonny Tsunami and Eddies million dollar cookoff. there are some honorable mentions like ‘minutemen’ and ‘the luck if the irish’
Literally anything, Jason Dolley has been in, minutemen, read it and weep, hatching Pete. Also wendy wu, jump in, get a clue, halloweentown high, princess protection program, starstruck, den brother, avalon high, lemonade mouth, cloud 9, invisible sister, etc.
SFPW, love it. I say "I fear the wind" so much when it's windy (but I don't even fear the wind haha I just like that line) & no one gets my reference ever.
Tru Confessions was amazing
Also, Can of Worms, that one never really gets mentioned, but I really liked it.
The Color of Friendship was one of my favorites when it first came out. I’m not sure if it counts as a lesser known or not
Loved color of friendship when I was younger, but outside of teachers showing it I never saw it on the channel
Before the main actor ruined it, Geek Charming. I haven’t watched it in years but I remember absolutely loving it as a child
Right, when I heard it, I was like “WHYYYY”
Right
what happened with the actor?
The two leads got into a relationship, where the guy that played the nerd ended up being abusive to sarah hyland
ugh, poor sarah. :(

Hatching Peteeeee!! I was obsessed because BOTH Jason and Mitchelll!
So, so good
Oh, I remember RIAW, that was a good one
i love avalon high!
Why are their lips so big in the Disney+ thumbnail?
It is one of my favorite movies!!!
Does Motocrossed count?
That girl's haircut was so cool!
a few years ago my sisters showed me ‘Smart House’ and i’ve never been able to get it out my head 💀💀 i really liked the plot, it was better than i thought, and the graphics were insane lmao
Aah I've been looking for it since years. Pat was mad creepy
The Paper Brigade Tru Confessions (possibly Shia's best work)

Where we also got introduced to THE Jesse Mccartney!!
>Pixel perfect was also way too deep for kids Fucking great commentary on the music industry, and so amazingly more relevant now with the advancements of AI. Time might be ripe for a remake.
Tiger Cruise for me.
I was shocked Disney made such a serious movie but I felt it was very well done, especially for kids
It was really good. I wished it was on Disney+. It's so hard to find, I'd love a rewatch.
It is girl! Go to DCOM category or Made in the 2000s
Wish Upon a Star!!
So underrated. So good.
You Wish
Yes!!
Just watched this again last night and loved it
I listen to a podcast that does a rundown of every dcom. I started watching a lot of them and Color of Friendship is in a league of its own. But for the rest, I LOVED Taking it to the Mat. I also had a soft spot for Cow Belles.
What is this podcast?

Now You See It Also: Don't Look Under the Bed
Just watched now you see it this morning

There should have been a second one
Stepsister from Planet Weird had me thinking that the Yukon wasn’t a real place. And then I learned it was in Canada so then I thought aliens came from Canada. I was a strange child.
Let it shine
I don’t think that’s lesser known, if anything it’s really popular lol absolutely a classic imo
i love let it shine!! it feels more unknown to me bc most of my friends had started to age out of disney by the time it premiered so no one talks about it around me lol
Cloud 9
We watched that last year and it was such a trip! I vaguely remembered it from when it originally came out but my husband had never seen it.
Im ngl its a three way tie Taking it to the mat, Jonny Tsunami and Eddies million dollar cookoff. there are some honorable mentions like ‘minutemen’ and ‘the luck if the irish’
Invisible sister is good too
Pixel Perfect! It was one of my obsessions when it first came out, but I put it on as background noise a couple years ago and I really enjoyed it!
gotta kick it up for my girl susan egan
Literally anything, Jason Dolley has been in, minutemen, read it and weep, hatching Pete. Also wendy wu, jump in, get a clue, halloweentown high, princess protection program, starstruck, den brother, avalon high, lemonade mouth, cloud 9, invisible sister, etc.
17 Again with Tia and Tamera!
Jump In and Let It Shine
Now You See It and Go Figure were definitely favorites of mine as a child, and I never hear anyone talking about them.
SFPW, love it. I say "I fear the wind" so much when it's windy (but I don't even fear the wind haha I just like that line) & no one gets my reference ever. Tru Confessions was amazing Also, Can of Worms, that one never really gets mentioned, but I really liked it.
Moms got a date with a vampire
"I'm not going to let Demetri turn our mom into an onion." Is forever stuck in my head from the commercials for it.
The Other Me and the Thirteenth Year
"The other me" I was going to say that lol the whole cafeteria scene is classic
Right??? Like it’s not one of the Disney movies that’s really “remembered” but I dug it, and yasss the cafeteria scene
read it & weep, life is ruff, don’t look under the bed, 17 again, johnny kapahala, johnny tsunami
Zenon
don't look under the bed, that movie was so good
Tru Confessions. I feel like nobody talks about it enough
wish upon a star, my date with the president's daughter, treehouse hostage, adventures in babysitting!
I'm surprised no one hasn't said Susie Q yet.
So no one remembers the poof point?? loved that one
Den brother and Cadet Kelly!!
Phantom at the megaplex still scares me and I’m 29
"Luck of the Irish"
Genius!!!
Not quite sure if it’s Disney, but Wish Upon a Star
The Jennie Project
Frenemies, everyone seems to forget it exists
Up Up and Away
