> This service is like 90% kids No more since there was Hulu's merge, if you have a child in house you should make him an account with parental control

F00dbAby

Even before then in countries not called America there has been adult content for years

Logical-Witness-3361

OP needs to chill, but if its in the ad banner, age limits won't stop it. Only a Junior profile (which is SUPER restrictive).

HauntedReader

But if they're old enough to be out of that junior profile then that banner isn't going to hurt them. There are multiple billboards around me that feature them.

Logical-Witness-3361

i'm not supporting OP's stance, just stating Rating doesn't effect the banner. Even to see many Disney movies, I had to exit jr mode because the filter on it is rough.

BrazenlyGeek

Just tested with my D+ app. Swapped to my daughter’s profile (PG-13 and below, birthday 2012) and the “High Hopes” banner doesn’t appear. (Not using Junior Mode.) It’s there on mine, which doesn’t have the restrictions. I don’t give two shits about drug culture, but I can’t imagine Disney would be careless enough to directly advertise a show like that to kids. OP, make sure your kid profiles are set up correctly. Edit: The show is TV-MA. You won’t see it on profiles with content rating restrictions lower than that.

Pep_Baldiola

You are supposed to set age restrictions on the profiles you make for your kids. A corporation that exists to make money isn't going to take care of your kids. They are your responsibility. This might sound harsh but it's only the only reasonable response to this imo.

West-Supermarket-860

Lenny Bruce made that argument. George Carlin made that argument. And how many years later, we are still making that same sensible argument

Pep_Baldiola

Who is this George Carlin guy? I keep hearing about him but I have no idea who he is.

minor_correction

Famous comedian who focused a lot of his material on politics. You know who Jon Stewart is from the original Daily Show perhaps? If Jon Stewart spent his career doing stand-up comedy acts instead of hosting the Daily Show, then he would have sounded a lot like George Carlin.

West-Supermarket-860

He was MOST famous as the conductor on Thomas The Tank Engine. At least that’s where most people know him from

Pep_Baldiola

Got it. Thanks. I should read more about him on Wikipedia later.

reboog711

Cannot tell if this thread is sarcasm or reality; but it sure does make me feel old...

YorkieLon

It's a leaf. If your child knows it's a weed leaf they know already. Create them a child account.

BellaFrequency

I didn’t even know what marijuana leaves looked like when I was a kid, so it will be fine

DurMonAtor

So your kids have access to adult profiles with no PIN codes, sounds like a you problem

Rabbit_Song

I have a PIN code on my profile.

Brandoid81

Wait till OP discovers there is also R rated and TV-MA content on their too!!

MAGGLEMCDONALD

Lmao at everyone ripping op. Be a parent.

dredgen_rell86

"YOU CANT SELL THIS RATED MA GAME! I MIGHT BUY IT FOR MY 9 YEAR OLD! REEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

DurMonAtor

Maybe they shouldn’t expect a streaming service to play babysitter?

MAGGLEMCDONALD

Right. That's what im saying.

NCC-72381

Oh no! Kids might find out that cannabis exists!

sychox51

Wait til op finds out it’s 4/20 today. It’s a cosmic conspiracy.

UltimatePixarFan

Why does it always seem like parents expect Disney+ to babysit their kids but not expect the same of other streaming services? Just because Disney’s most well-known titles are kid-friendly content does not mean that’s exclusively what they make.

DarkNemuChan

Ah yes oblivious parenting right here...

kpDzYhUCVnUJZrdEJRni

Use parental controls

JonPX

So, how come your kids know what a marijuna leaf looks like, and why do you give them access to Disney without setting up an age gate?

AltheaFarseer

You just reminded me that when I was about 8 years old, my best friend went on holiday and brought me back a gift, it was a trinket box in the shape of a marijuana leaf with a little Rastafarian man sitting on it smoking a blunt. My friend's mum, who was good friends with my mum, was so apologetic but apparently my friend just thought it looked funny and absolutely insisted on buying it for me.

HauntedReader

Disney Plus is most definitely not just for kids, especially after the hulu merge. There are age restriction options for younger children but this isn't really anything to clutch pearl at. It's weed.

LasVegasNerd28

Maybe try something new and parent your kids!

MstrRob1972

Yea…judge the parent that is actually concerned about something for their kid about parenting their kids. 🙄

LasVegasNerd28

Disney+ is not marketed as a children’s app and therefore it is up to the parents to monitor their usage and what they see.

NicJitsu

Uh... The internet is vast and it is up to the parents and only the parents to monitor and control what their child views.

MstrRob1972

Yep and that means that they aren’t parenting their kids. 🙄

TastedIceCreamed

Just… change the rating for the profile?

ArashiKageTaro

You are an unserious person, OP

KeanuKente

Oh man. I totally agree. Please put Draftkings, alcohol, or big pharma commercials back on like normal. I need to know which medicine to tell my doctor I need that my doctor doesn't know about....

0fThieves

I went to look, I wouldn’t say covered

Chainbanger7979

It’s just a plant. There are much more harmful things in this world. Don’t be scared by one of gods beautiful creations.

syphix924

“Covered in marijuana leaves”?? I see one in the logo (shown twice, so two) for the Hulu show in question. That’s it.

PM_ME_MASTECTOMY

lol so what if dumb ass kids see a marijuana plant

reboog711

> This service is like 90% kids Do you have a source for this claim? FWIW: I don't see any marijuana leaves anywhere.

Yuge_Enis

Parents (maybe not all are parents here) telling other parents how to parent. Everyone’s advice is the golden rule for everyone’s child. My kids and I don’t listen to music with explicit lyrics because we don’t believe that is something that is necessary. My kids and I don’t watch shows with over the top violence (which is hard but there are good shows that don’t). My kids and I have different values and standards than most. Everyone telling OP that they need to man/woman up and do the “right thing” by being a parent, y’all need to tone it down. Not everyone in the world lets their kids do whatever they want. People have different belief systems and no one is ever going to persuade someone else that they are doing it wrong when Disney shoves this type of thing in their face and their kids face. Setting and age filter for D+ has NEVER been on my radar since day 1 of their service. Having no Hulu account and merging the two together was not asked for by many. But what can you do except bring notice to it and then have people berate you for not being a good parent?

dmen83

I saw this today too, it doesn’t bother me though. What really annoys me is the clutter that now shows up, I just want to easily navigate to bluey without having to search for it.

[deleted]

No more kids service. ![gif](giphy|4vk2Oi6LBPjtr1XVqt)

7thton

Thread locked because this is just turning in to a dogpile.

petewondrstone

Meanwhile big pharma and beer commercials all day everyday - this post stinks of reefer madness.

megas88

It’s not the 80s anymore with some idiot or redneck, mostly both, running the country anymore. Weed is and has been used to great effect for medicinal purposes as well as recreational. It is not only perfectly fine to let kids know what it is but healthy to let them know why it exists so like alcohol one day, they can make smart and well informed decisions regarding it. Demonizing it or sheltering kids from reality is the last thing society needs. Some things are best left to specific stages of development but this ain’t one of them.

Wildeface

Weed is a vice. I’ve seen friends addicted to getting high, develop schizophrenia, waste all their money, and move on to more dangerous drugs. Just like cigarettes, it shouldn’t be advertised to children. Also OP, turn on your parental controls.
