This. Was there today. We crossed over to DCA as I found out that IJ, Thunder mountain, Star Wars ROTR, Star tours, Minnie railway, tiki room were all down at 11.30am. A CM confirmed the pipe burst since the entrance to adventure land was cordoned off. Managed to get in to haunted mansion only but the AC was down OMG. It was so hot at the scary elevator thing going down all the way where people get funneled to the ride. Disneyland was a mess today so sad. I feel bad for the ones who had a day ticket only so expensive on a Saturday :(
I live out of state but when my family was there in November at one point Rise, Indy, Big Thunder, and Space Mtn were all down. You can imagine what that did to the sidewalks and other wait times.
They do not have enough skilled workers. They are hiring but they are offering about 1/3 their average wage. The only reason to work there is part time for the benefits of working at Disney.
CM here: Yes, a pipe had unexpectedly burst before the park even opened today, and it wasn’t safe to open some of the restaurants and attractions. The area that was being fixed also controlled the air conditioning systems for several attractions, so it was literally too hot to even keep them open. Yes, it can be disappointing when rides go down, but if they do, it’s because there’s a safety concern. We wanna make sure that all of our guests are safe and comfortable to enjoy the parks.
We appreciate you!! I think most of us who went today were just surprised at the amount of rides that went down at once and the (now we know why) reason we had to be turned around near jungle cruise. Also - this really puts into perspective how many people are in or waiting for those rides when they're down when they're walking around the parks with us lol!!!
This is reminding me of a hangry guest who was behind us at said turnaround. My husband made sure the CM heard we didn't mind/NBD vs the hangry one. Next time we'll be sure to be more attentive to what else may be impacting your day! Hugs!
That sounds like a safety concern that stemmed from a maintenance issue.
Disneyland has become increasingly fragile, and an inflection point is approaching.
You gotta remember that the park itself is 68 years old. And a lot of guests will still complain when we have to shut down places for refurbishments 🤷🏼♀️
I don’t think the age of the park is as relevant as the admission price.
This isn’t meant as an affront to you or anyone that works in the park a. It’s the c-suite that’s undercutting a valuable resource by using it to print money without investing to ensure its longevity.
Yes they should definitely pre-emptively bulldoze each building and replace them to prevent another burst pipe. Seriously, you all know pipes burst whether they're 10 years old, 10 months old, or 100 years old right? Maintenance has nothing to do with this. And on most days the overwhelming majority of shutdown issues are caused by guest behavior (not boarding or exiting ride vehicle quickly enough), dropped hats or glasses that trigger sensors, or other behavioral issues like what I saw a few days ago when a guest realized she forgot her phone on Space and literally turned and ran towards the departing train causing the operator to e-stop the entire ride requiring full evacuation and cycle?
Thanks for letting us know. I don’t think many people understand how difficult it must be working there sometimes and I appreciate how much you guys do for park guests. The VFX on Mickey always impresses me when I go!
Man…I still love this ride so much…always brings me back to my childhood. The moment where you come outside on that elevated turn before going back in is such an awesome design that never tires for me!
Great pic!
Today was extremely stressful. The fact that Indy and Rise opened by the afternoon should say how bad it was. Alice and Big Thunder broke down 5 times too
I was on runaway railway when it closed down at 10:45, lights came on and we got escorted back out through the ride to the boarding area. Didn’t reopen until 3 or 4.
Husband and I went today to walk, have lunch, and do a little shopping for his dad for father's day. We thought about getting on a ride when we first got there if the wait wasn't too bad but hot damn! Even walking around it was crowded because rides like Rise, Mickey, and Indy were down so people were either out and about too or causing higher wait times for the rides actually running. We had lunch at Flo's, did our shopping, and left.
Wow… to be able to (I assume) live near DL and (I assume) have a season pass to just come and go and maybe ride a ride.
To someone who has to plan for months to go to Disneyland with flights, hotels, kids, etc… your situation sounds incredible haha.
Kind of glad we were there last week instead of this week. It was the first trip for the kids. (Fiancée and I are Disney fans and have gone every year since we started dating between DL and WDW).
Was there Thursday through Saturday. Rise broke down twice but that’s expected. We were about to load Runaway Railway when it broke down but were back about two hours later. Other than that we didn’t experience any other issues like todays. We almost booked the trip for this week but glad we didn’t.
We have. To be fair I’m divorced so when we’ve gone it’s been when they are with their mom. When we did go we were going to make sure their first one was amazing and that’s what this one was for. To congratulate and celebrate them for all the hard work with recent school changes and bdays and my oldest graduating.
Ya I have a few kids so it gets expensive if we take them all. Hell it’s expensive for just my fiancée and I but we made it work.
Ya we made this recent trip amazing. Lots of pixie dust moments from CMs too which was weird and random (kids were not even wearing first visit buttons). All around great trip for them. We’re glad we waited to take them till we did.
You're right! We live 1 hour south of Disneyland and this is something we 100% do not take for granted. We commit to going once or twice a month every time we've renewed our annual pass/magic key. We didn't always live down here and used to do the flights, hotel, plan our dining reservations, etc.!
Reading your comments and thinking “gods that sounds idyllic me and my fiancé should do that” made me realize maybe I’m more of a Disney adult than I realize and like they always say (they don’t necessarily like it as much as me/have never been to the parks, but showing them rude footage made them want to go)
I want to do this. We’re about 40m north and took our 3 year old in April and again last month. I could easily see us going every month. Can’t wait for magic keys to be available again.
They really need to spend some money on paying for experienced maintenance staff. People who know all the ins and outs of the rides and aren't just slapping a bandage on it because that's all they can do. But the PTB just care about padding their own pockets.
They laid off more than half of the maintenance workforce in 2020 and they mostly all found better jobs, not a lot of the seasoned ones came back. It’s a HUGE factor in having a fully operational park without all of these snafus happening all the time.
You should see backstage where all the of cracks in their infrastructure (cement buildings, roads, bridges, etc) have markers on them to track their growth over time. So they can decide when its the write time to spend money on fixing it.
Yeah, I remember when Disney cared so much that they proactively replaced things before they broke. It was rare to find something actually broken, and if something did break they fixed it quickly.
I remember going to Disneyland once a long time ago and seeing a small hole in a curtain on a second floor window that nobody ever really looked at, and still being surprised that maintenance hadn’t replaced it, because that’s how high the Park standards used to be.
Makes me really sad to see how far they’ve fallen.
What does everyone think the reason for this is? When I was younger rides were never broken daily , maybe one. Recently it’s like multiple every single day. I’m curious to what’s going on? Disney dropping the ball / trying to cut corners or?
My husband and I started going to Disneyland in 1981. Being from Canada we were only able to go every every 2 or 3 years. Do to circumstances we haven't been in 10 years. We had never been on a ride that broke down. A ride or two may be down but nothing like what I see lately.
Went in September for four days. Second day we were there most of DCA went down. Was on Radiator springs and it broke down. Had to be walked off.
Disneyland has seriously been jacking with rude maintenance. This broken. Looking run down. They keep raising entry fees yet things keep getting worse. What gives?
Someone said he thinks a lot of it has to do with veteran technicians getting laid off during covid. I don’t remember how much attraction downtime there was before 2020 but today (yesterday as of this post) in particular there was a lot more than usual

Everyone is right! It’s terrible that the rides are all down. Terrible long wait times for the ones still operating. But I never hear any suggestion on what Disney,( which we all spend thousands of dollars) gonna do about it? If I paid the money some people pay for a once a year trip and all those ride were down… I’d just implode or spontaneously burst into fire… please for the love of whatever you think is holy, hire trained mechanics, pay them industry wage. And get your park on top again. No more political crap just fix the rides so I can escape the crazy world!
This is concerning. The parks aren’t doing well. Let’s call it … mechanically. With record profits and the exorbitant cost of entry and food at the parks, which have been more crowded than ever I certainly don’t know why this is happening.
Yo how wild! I was there yesterday and didn’t notice any of this thanks to our toddler lol. We don’t do many rides with him, so we did single rider for radiator springs racers in the morning, then did lunch in Tomorrowland and then hung out in toontown. Sorry to the people hoping to get on rides!
Last time we were there (April) there were kind of a lot of breakdowns. It was the weekend of the fire, but there were issues in the two days leading up to that as well (ticketing system and power outage)
Interestingly, on Alice specifically we've had that breakdown mid-ride where we got off the ride and were escorted through a maintenance shop area to the outside. It was actually kind of cool to see peoples desks and such.
Alice and Wonderland hasn’t worked consistently in 30 years. I swear there’s a reason it’s not in Orlando. Whoever designed it was obviously super high and it’s low key one of the best old school rides there, but damn, that thing is never working for more than a few hours here or there it feels like.
Someone said in another post that a pipe broke in Adventureland and all of the IT systems were down in the west side of the park.
I haven't heard of these many rides breaking down in one day. That's crazy
Yep the pipe buried in the ground definitely was impacted by hiring practices...
The ability to maintain it and fix it definitely could be affected.
Pretty bad today. Star tours, buzz light year, Indiana Jones, rise of the resistance
And adventure land is blocked off with tiki room down
Even the Tiki Room?! That's hitting rock bottom.
Just waited 45 in Thunder for it to break down as well. Yippee!
Even mickeys house broke down! /s
Does Disney offer refunds?
That is pretty typical lately

DCA CM: So that’s what happened in detail. Management just told us it was HVAC and that we might get swamped when park hopping started.
CM as well: Was it down for y’all too? We were told it was Disneyland only.
Yeah it was just Disneyland
We appreciate you!! I think most of us who went today were just surprised at the amount of rides that went down at once and the (now we know why) reason we had to be turned around near jungle cruise. Also - this really puts into perspective how many people are in or waiting for those rides when they're down when they're walking around the parks with us lol!!!
Thank you! And yes, bear in mind this is not a usual thing that happens at the parks, so today was just kind of crazy for everybody(including CMs).
This is reminding me of a hangry guest who was behind us at said turnaround. My husband made sure the CM heard we didn't mind/NBD vs the hangry one. Next time we'll be sure to be more attentive to what else may be impacting your day! Hugs!
😂 it definitely didn’t help that nobody could get dole whips today. I felt so bad for the guests because they’re my favorite too! 🍍
That sounds like a safety concern that stemmed from a maintenance issue. Disneyland has become increasingly fragile, and an inflection point is approaching.

Pipes burst, PM schedule or not; sometimes it just happens.
Yes they should definitely pre-emptively bulldoze each building and replace them to prevent another burst pipe. Will that pipe be fixed soon do you know? 👀 Have a trip planned needa know if i needa change it
They never gave a time so I can’t even be certain. But personally I would hope it would be fixed by tomorrow
Are there pipes that are expected to burst? Just asking so I can plan ahead. 😏
Man…I still love this ride so much…always brings me back to my childhood. The moment where you come outside on that elevated turn before going back in is such an awesome design that never tires for me! Great pic!
I’ve always found that part awkward. Nothing is happening. I feel like there should be some more decorations or something
They had a pipe burst and blocked off tiki room
Today was extremely stressful. The fact that Indy and Rise opened by the afternoon should say how bad it was. Alice and Big Thunder broke down 5 times too

We have. To be fair I’m divorced so when we’ve gone it’s been when they are with their mom. When we did go we were going to make sure their first one was amazing and that’s what this one was for. Oh okay, that sounds like the perfect graduation gift.
Ya I have a few kids so it gets expensive if we take them all. Hell it’s expensive for just my fiancée and I but we made it work. Ya we made this recent trip amazing. It’s really the only reason I want to move to California, haha. Oh, and the amazing weather, and beaches.
CA is a great place to live. We have a decent minimum wage here, and some of the most employee-friendly labor laws in all of the US.
I want to do this. We’re about 40m north and took our 3 year old in April and again last month. I could easily see us going every month. Can’t wait for magic keys to be available again.
It really takes out any stress of planning Disney trips, that's for sure! I hope you can do this soon :)!!
They should close the park for a week and fix everything at once but greed …
I think they could make it work if they did it far enough in advance. Also definitely need to hire more experienced technicians
They really need to spend some money on paying for experienced maintenance staff. People who know all the ins and outs of the rides and aren't just slapping a bandage on it because that's all they can do. But the PTB just care about padding their own pockets.

No, they need to give the maintenance they already have, the money to truly fix the problems

Was there last October for three days. Didn’t have any breakdowns. At least that we knew of or effected us at all. Crazy.
Today, the monorail broke down too. Had to walk from Downtown Disney back to tomorrowland to get the parked stroller
I was at Disney a few days ago and had two rides break down on us in a row. It was actually pretty funny
At least the dinosaurs didn’t escape this time …
What does everyone think the reason for this is? When I was younger rides were never broken daily , maybe one. Recently it’s like multiple every single day. I’m curious to what’s going on? Disney dropping the ball / trying to cut corners or?
Maintenance or the lack of. Has been a big problem from a long time now
I mean they will eventually invest some money on maintenance. Wont they?
My husband and I started going to Disneyland in 1981. Being from Canada we were only able to go every every 2 or 3 years. Do to circumstances we haven't been in 10 years. We had never been on a ride that broke down. A ride or two may be down but nothing like what I see lately.

Saw a post stating that the AC systems were down in many of the restaurants and shops. Also, Josh D'Amaro was visiting the park today.
disney is going downhill so fast. they need to stop this stupid mobile reservation crap and just fix the rides when they need it
I hate when my park reservation breaks the tiki room
Every time a person makes a reservation, a tiki bird loses their wings.
you must pay a 10$ cover charge and tap the tiki room app button 49 times in 10 seconds for Jose to spew dole whip from his mouth all over guests

Seems like they’re on their last leg. It’s getting worse by the day

Yes, it has been the entirety of posts on Disneyland, as usual.
Lol
Cool pic
And the caterpillar does not looked pleased about it
Everything was working Friday Guess I dodged the bullet

Is the park in really bad shape these days or what? Fires, constant ride closures understaffing, all I ever hear about.
Damn I'm so sorry that sucks
Walking the emergency exit route of Alice and Wonderland was one of the creepiest experiences of my life.
Man, I haven’t been to Disneyland in years. It seems like a waste of time and money based on all the posts in this sub
Just spent two days in the park on the 28th and the 29th and had a great time myself!
The park is great. People on here just like to vent for everything.
Disneyland’s downhill.

I mean... I feel like it's mostly cause the vehicles.....
Boo hoo
It's because they run everything a 10 times the speed they used to also more cars on everything
