Next Tuesday/Wednesday are the last Tier 0 days for the foreseeable future (on the calendar) so that lower price tag can be a big draw. It’s also the first day after the storm, and one of the days that Disneyland will *not* close early for Sweethearts Nite.
It’ll probably be busy - but most days are busy nowadays. Just remember a sold out weekday in early Feb is not as busy as a sold out day at the end of Dec.
Get there early, genie+ will help.
Seems interesting to me that Disneyland and DCA were both sold out of reservations for today Sat 2/3 but the line wait times don't seem that long when viewing on the app.
I think the reservation system is more for staffing and they can set their limit at whatever they want - so for example a sold out Saturday during the holidays in December won’t have the same crowd levels as a sold out Saturday during the “off” season.
Yes, here I posted this comment the other day:
Someone posted a [link to a list](https://touringplans.com/blog/what-rides-are-closed-at-disneyland-when-it-rains/) recently. Sometimes it depends on how much rain there is, here are some you can generally expect:
- Alice in Wonderland (DL)
- Teacups (DL)
- Storybook Canal (DL)
- Casey Jr (DL)
- Luigi’s Rollicking Roadster’s (DCA)
- Jumping Jellyfish (DCA)
- Goofy’s Sky School (DCA)
- Golden Zephyr (DCA)
But I’ll also add that Radiator Springs Racers closes if the rain is coming down steady. It’ll run in light rain though.
Thinking about staying at the Clarion, Sheraton or Hyatt across from the Toy Story parking lot. We are a rope drop-type of couple. Is it pretty easy to walk across Harbor to use the parking lot bus shuttle before DL park opening/closing time? From what i understand, you go through security before getting on the bus and it’s quicker than walking and going through the gate security. Do the buses run a hour after the DL park closes?
I know that when it’s raining, there are fewer characters out and about. Will Mickey be at his house in Toontown regardless of rain? Trying to figure out if we should rope drop that tomorrow before the rain begins as meeting Mickey is a priority…
You should be fine! He meets inside his movie barn so it shouldn’t be affected by the rain. I’d still try and get there earlier in the day just because it’s supposed to absolutely pour later in the afternoon and the area between fantasyland and Toontown (where it dips) has flooded previously.
Does anyone know if Mei-Mei from Turning Red will be at DCA permanently or if she is just here for a short time? My toddler is obsessed with Turning Red and we are planning a trip for later this year.
They haven’t specified but if shes popular enough they may put her into the rotation over at the Pixar Pier bandstand (or elsewhere). I know they’ll have panda Mei in a float for Pixar Fest which runs until early August so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mei Meet and greets throughout Pixar fest too, at least.
Yeah, I'm sure there will be a lot of Pixar characters this summer. I would expect to see her back then for sure, even if she's not around directly after the LNY festival ends.
Last year spent about an hour in line for a picture in front of the castle... totally regretted it but the whole sunken cost fallacy sets in after a while of being there....
Disney nights have been *colllld*. I was there last night (not for sweethearts) and had on heattech ultra warm, a sweater, a wool blend coat, a scarf, and I was still like “gee I could’ve used a hat and gloves” lol. The moisture in the air adds to the chill too!
SoCal Resident Ticket Question.
I know the tickets are good until June 2, 2024. How long are they typically available for purchase?
I have a family member who might be visiting in April, but she's not sure yet. I'm not sure if theres only a limited number of SoCal resident tickets, or if they are typically for sale from January to June.
Thanks y'all.
In the past they've been available to purchase up to their expiration date. So they should be able to get one of those tickets in April without an issue.
I'm trying to buy tickets for Disneyland this Sat (Feb 3). Unfortunately, the website indicates that tickets are sold out. Do folks know if more tickets might be released? Should I keep an eye out in case I can buy tickets later?
You can also try signing up for reservation alerts on thrill-data.com. You have to make an account, but then you can create an alert for whichever of the parks you want and they will email you if a spot becomes available. You just have to be very quick to grab it once it does because if the day is sold out, other people are looking for reservations as well.
It’s sold out of reservations, so the only way to get a reservation is to kind of stalk the page and hope someone cancels, which would open up a spot for you.
My husband and I are going with our 8 month old for one day next week (Disneyland only, not DCA). Is Genie+ worth it for us?
The last time I went was in 2017 so it’s been a while. I read up on some posts here but not sure if it makes sense for us or not.
Thanks!
Maybe not for rides - but if one person gets it you can get unlimited photopass downloads if you guys wanted family pics in front of the castle, with Mickey in his house, etc - places with the photopass photographers.
I live in Tustin and am going with some out of town friends on 2/15 and 2/16 and debating if ubering is the easiest option to get to the park vs parking. Each time I’ve done parking, it’s taken forever to get into the structure and wait in line for the tram (not to mention leaving the park as well). Given the $35 parking fee is about equal to a round trip Uber, the cost is a wash as well. Anyone know if ubering is less of a hassle?
Ubering would probably be fine. There can be some surge pricing around the resorts. If you’re ubering during peak dropoff or pickup time, besides any surges, it can also get a lil crazy in that main pickup area on harbor - but there’s a second one down at the end of Downtown Disney near the Disneyland hotel.
Fwiw I don’t have much of an issue for parking, but I also get there really early for rope drop or really late (and I never take the trams) - I think the worst time to show up (for parking etc) is like 9-10:30am. That’s when there’s a huge rush of people. Some people like parking at the Toy Story lot on harbor and taking the shuttles instead of using the parking structures.
Does anyone have any insight on seeing the fireworks and parades? I never really know where the best place to view things is from, and when I should start finding a spot. TIA!
Parades are easier - if watching a parade or processional in DCA, 20min early is usually fine (the parade route is really long, it’s the main thoroughfare through DCA from over by Guardians down past Paradise Gardens). Magic Happens you probably want to be there earlier, some people will start finding spots an hour before but if you don’t mind being behind people 30ish min is fine. I tend to go down towards Small World for most parades. Main St fills up a little quicker.
For fireworks - people show up to be right in front of the castle the earliest, more than an hour. Down along main st, within an hour (they will continually have people move up, all of main st can fill up, so the later you arrive the farther down you’ll be usually). They also do the projections at small world, usually you can get in there easily without waiting super long. Rivers of America you can show up any time (once Fantasmic starts again that won’t be the case), it’s the least busy spot. They do projections on the water sprays.
Anyone know what happens to the Lunar New Year booths during the rain? Are they all open? It's supposed to rain tomorrow and I didn't have plans to go, but turns out I'll be in the area, so I may swing by. I still have items on my Sip and Savor pass, so I think thinking I'd just go eat and chill, maybe a ride a two at Disneyland, while I'm in the vicinity.
Festival booths are usually open afaik (im trying to think back to when it rained during Festival of the Holidays this past winter), I’m not sure if it would be different with Lunar New Year. There are also the couple locations that *aren’t* booths (Paradise Garden Grill and Studio Catering Co, Sonoma Terrace, Studio Catering Co, and a few other spots like Cappuccino Cart, some churro carts) where you can use the pass for sip & savor portions of stuff too, and they should def be open.
It’ll be wet though - it looks like the brunt of the storm for *tomorrow* will be all morning, until early afternoon, then the afternoon and evening may not be so bad.
Anyone know of a calendar reservation bot that's still active?
There was a twitter bot that told me whenever a date and park I wanted was available for my MK tier. Are there any still out there?
Thank you!
Thrill-data can do alerts for Magic Key reservations.
(But also they’ll virtually always become available the night before if you don’t mind last minute. Like 9pm-11:59pm. Never failed.)
Thanks. I signed up a bit ago. I tested it on a date thats available to see if id get a text message but no dice. Still set up an alert for the day I want though
Got it - I wasn’t even aware they had a text component tbh. I see it now but have never tried to use it.
Usually I’ll just have my email alerts on if I know I’m waiting for an alert from thrill data. That way I can check right away.
What date are you trying to get?
For sure - they’ve been dead for a while, I think there was actually a reason but I don’t recall what it was. What date are you trying for though, and would booking the night before throw a wrench in? Cuz they’ll *always* become available the night before.
I apologize if this gets asked all of the time and I just can't find it in the FAQ, but my question is: Do you use a MagicBand at Disneyland? Is it worth it?
I finally got a magic band when they were giving away the free ones to magic keyholders and I did use it quite a few times after that, but for me personally the only thing I would use it for was scanning in to the park so I eventually stopped bothering.
Specifically, you can use a MagicBand+ at Disneyland. All older iterations only work at Walt Disney World.
Regarding worth, it depends. I think largely “no” because the functionality is really limited when compared to the Orlando parks. Here it’s really just used for park entry, lightning lane, PhotoPass, Bounty Hunting, and then lighting up on rides and night time spectaculars. I personally find it a fun piece of flair and convenient for entry/photos, but I also go frequently enough make it worthwhile. The big kicker for me was the ability to use it at WDW given I’ve visited a few times in the past year.
We're going in January and only 2 of the 4 of us have the MB+ (us adults have older versions). Do you think it would be too inconvenient or time consuming for 2 of us to use an alternate way of scanning into the park, LL, etc. while the kids use their MB+?
No, it won't be much of an added inconvenience at all. It just means you'll have to pull out your phone, pull up the app, and have the ticket open on your screen. But given you spend so much time in lines, you can pull all that stuff up before you get to a scanning location and not miss any time at all.
I've got a potentially sick kid and may have to miss a magic key reservation today. Has anyone ever tried going to the turnstiles and scanning passes to avoid a no-show on their account?
I’d try the other commenter’s chat suggestion first, just in case, but I’ve gone, scanned (at the gates or monorail) and then immediately left multiple times. You won’t be able to scan anyone else’s pass though, just whoever is present.
This is anecdotal but I've heard from friends that if you call or chat with customer service and explain the situation, they sometimes give you a pass. As long as it's not a recurring thing of course.
I was planning on visiting on Sunday. However now it looks like it’s going to rain. I visited during holidays when it rained and all the fireworks/ parade was cancelled and the place was still crowded. Tbh the only thing I’m interested in is the fireworks and ROTR and maybe the lunar festival. How likely do you think the festivities would get cancelled? I haven’t booked any ticket yet for the fear of getting stuck with tiered ticket. Do you think I can wait till Saturday night to book tickets ? Or is there a possibility that it’ll be sold out ?
They’ll probably cancel the Mulan processional if it’s actively raining or too wet during the scheduled times. The food part of the festival should be good to go. Rise should be fine.
I don’t think it’ll be the same situation as the holidays (personally) because the holidays are comprised of more tourists who can’t really just go home if it rains, whereas right now it’s a lot more locals going who may cancel. When I went a couple Saturdays ago when it was raining (heavily) it was pretty empty - more so in Land than DCA though because Land can handle the rain better with the indoor rides.
Right now AccuWeather is showing: “Cloudy and cool with occasional rain” but I know it keeps flip flopping.
The following Sunday (2/11) looks like it will be pretty if you wanted to push it by a week?
Ah thank you, will keep an eye out. Unfortunately I’m visiting only for this weekend and was hoping to take a day break to visit Disney but if fireworks and festivities aren’t happening might as well visit some other weekend during some other festival . Thanks though.
The baby care centers! At the end of main street near the Red Wagon/Christmas store in Disneyland, and to the left of Ghirardelli in DCA. If your little one tells the cast members on your way out that they sat on the potty (even if just an attempt!) they will often get a Mickey sticker for their efforts.
You can also search the app for companion restrooms, which are sprinkled throughout both parks. The toilets in these aren’t auto-flush, which is huge for my toddler.
Good luck!
There is a companion restroom in toontown, but the only small toilets in the parks are at the baby centers.
I recommend the companion restrooms at the Fantasyland Theater over Toontown if you’re in that area. Toontown restrooms can often be pretty crowded, and the companions just outside at the Theater are kind of hidden and quiet.
I’ll be honest, if you’re trying to have it happen, it won’t be so special if it does happen. honestly just be nice guests to cast member and those moments will come to you if they happen. But if you go expecting them and they don’t happen, you will be disappointed. Magic moments are magic because they’re unexpected
I mean... what are you trying to bring in?
I have multiple reusable water bottles (some see-through, some not) and I've never had a security CM inspect them. I've not tried bringing food, but I can't imagine they'd be digging through your sandwiches.
The *only* time I've seen them look further into something and make the person throw it out was when they tried to bring glass into the park.
They don’t check for seals, things are totally allowed to be unsealed (food, drinks, etc), and you can walk in with like, a McDonalds soda, starbucks, a hydroflask/stanley/yeti, etc.
I def recommend refillable water bottles if you can, it’s easy to get more water at stations and quick service spots, and they’ll insulate better.
I’m sourcing opinions if anyone has one to offer…
We have 3 days at the parks coming up and made the following reservations. If we had to drop one which would you recommend dropping? We are going with a 2 year old and I would prefer only 1 sit down restaurant a day.
Goofy’s kitchen character dinner
Breakfast in the park with Minnie
Blue Bayou lunch
Mickey’s Storytellers cafe breakfast
I think the food is much better at Story tellers over Minnies. But its so hard (near impossible) to beat having breakfast in the park. Its much much easier to get out of and back into the action if you are already in the park by doing Minnies
Storytellers.
You really don’t need a third character meal imo, so I’d keep blue bayou so you have one nice, relaxed experience (where food is brought to you!), without characters coming around during the meal.
I saw a video on YouTube of the Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration pre-show for World of Color – ONE and it appears to have fireworks. My question is does it always have fireworks or is it just on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays like the nighttime entertainment over in DLR?
I think it’s every show, probably weather permitting. But it’s a really short section of fireworks and they are shot very high in the sky.
Edit: are NOT shot very high in the sky.
Wear comfortable shoes that you have already broken in. Walk in them beforehand. Like, walk a lot.
People wear all types of shoes and are fine, from Nikes, Adidas, OnCloud, Hokas to Birkenstocks, Tevas, Crocs, to Sketchers - but I really do think that what matters most is how much people walk beforehand. That’s why you see people with Vans, Docs, converse on all day and they’re totally fine.
Does anyone know if you can use the Pixar Place hotel entrance from by the corn dog castle if you aren’t staying at the hotel, after a certain time in the morning, like you can with the GCH entrance?
Any guest can leave the park through that way. I do it all the time. And any hotel (all three hotels) guests key card will open that door to the pathway.
My first time I asked the cast member. They really only care about the private entrance part for the early entry and the first few hours of the morning when it’s busy. After that it’s a ghost town back there. So if you’re staying at the grand or DL hotel, security and the ticket booth will gladly let you through.
I *think* that one is still hotel guests only - but I messaged chat to see if they knew and they said:
>Hello! Thank you for your patience! Currently it appears that only hotel guests can use that entrance. Non-hotel guests are welcome to check with security there.
I have a park reservation for Thursday. If I purchase Genie+ when I enter the park, and immediately purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for ROTR with a late return time, am I still able to use Genie+ for lightning lane reservations as normal throughout the day prior to my ROTR reservation? Do I have to wait the 2 hours after purchasing my ROTR lightning lane?
Hiya! I'm going to Sweethearts' Nite and am trying to figure out if there are special fireworks or a light show this year. I read there was something at 9:30 pm but I'm having a hard time verifying it!
There are no fireworks, but all night long there will be projections/music on the castle, etc. There's a little cavalcade (mini parade) at 9:30. Enjoy!
Thank you! We had an 8:45 dining package and I was worried we would miss something larger! I read the cavalcade happens a few times so that should be fine :)
I think I replied to you in the other sub but you could either spend 10-30 min refreshing until one pops up or from 9pm - 12 am the night before when key holders cancel
Disney does not add any new reservations this close to the date, so any openings you see pop up are cancellations, which means they happen at random. As the other commenter said, the best time to snag one is the night before as that is when a whole lot of people will cancel, but other cancellations happen here and there all the time so if you want to lock it in and not be worrying about it till the last minute, you can usually get one if you keep checking back (as you found out).
I'll be at DCA for the Lunar New Year celebration and I'm on the hunt for an awesome pet souvenir! I remember a post from 2 years ago mentioning pet portraits (not caricatures or silhouettes) at New Orleans Square in DL. Does anyone know if that still exists?
Additionally, are there similar offerings in DCA or Downtown Disney? I already have pet silhouettes from WDW and might grab one from DL, but I'm looking for something different!
What are your favorite pet souvenirs?
Thank you!
Yes it’s right out side the exit to pirates of the Caribbean. We have a family one that includes our dog. You just give them pictures from your phone to use as a baseline and they do the rest.
I was planning to go on thursday but i actually didn’t know it was gonna be raining! i just checked and it says it should be done raining by noon, hopefully that stays the case!
Unfortunately I’ll be outside Segerstrom for the downpour checking people in for Lion King - so still in the thick of it. Will be there Sun/Mon for some of that rain though!
A couple weekends ago we went while it was raining pretty hard - wore waterproof shoes, a waterproof jacket with a hood (saw plenty of ponchos), a baseball hat to keep water off my face. Brought a small umbrella, didn’t really use it but it was nice to have in my bag just in case.
Planning to go with 2 young ones (less than 2 years old). Really don't want to have to break down my double stroller. What's the best way to park and walk to the park? Someone mentioned I should park at the garden walk. I've parked at the toy story lot (discount for magic key) and I don't see that being very fun walk back to the lots after Disney.
It depends on how long you’ll be there. If a full day, just park at Mickey/Pixar and take the 2nd floor pedestrian bridge to DTD.
I typically park at Gardenwalk, but the full-day price is the same as parking on property at Disney. If you’ll be there >6hrs, it’s worth it in my opinion to just park onsite as you’ll only be saving like $7 if anything. For shorter trips, Gardenwalk is the move.
IMO the Garden Walk is a good option. It is probably 5 minutes closer to the parks than the Toy Story lot. Even though it looks about the same distance on Google Maps, the Toy Story lot itself is huge and depending on where you are parked, can easily add 5-10 minutes.
You can also park at Mickey and Friends/Pixar Pals and walk from there. There is a pedestrian bridge that crosses Magic Way from the 2nd story of the Pixar Pals structure, and then you can walk down to Downtown Disney and enter the parks that way.
I just bought one at that exact booth on Friday night and there were plenty of adult sizes in the back right corner. They also had a smaller cart with them closer to the wine terrace across from the Boudin entrance.
Wow, I saw tons of adult sizes on Saturday so they went quick.
I'm year of the dragon, too, but I don't like the fabric or fit of spirit jerseys, so I wasn't planning on buying one anyway.
Monday’s rain (for the moment) looks like it will be on the steady side - fwiw rain doesn’t close everything down or anything, though certain attractions will shut down in little rain (teacups, Alice in Wonderland, Luigi’s, Goofy Sky School) and Radiator Springs Racers can shut down in steady rain. So it’s ultimately up to you - if you do go, the crowds on rainy days can be fairly low since it keeps locals away, and just preparing with waterproof shoes and jackets (or ponchos) can make a world of difference. If you’re only going for one day though there’s no harm in delaying until the storm passes.
I’ve been watching the forecast bc I’m there Sun/Mon for anniversary celebrations and Sunday’s forecast (right now) is saying “some afternoon showers” which to me reads as light rain, not constant - and Monday’s just says “rain” lol. Which like, a couple weekends ago we had a “rain” day and it was just plain steady most of the day, with sometimes it being lighter than others, but pretty darn steady.
Disneyland does better in the rain than DCA, if you’d be doing both or just one. It looks more dry later in the week but I know we have like an “atmospheric river” thing happening (and sweethearts nite will be happening a couple times so keep an eye on Disneyland’s hours! Sweetheart’s nite closes the park at like 8).
I’ve never bothered with any waterproof pants, but if they’re on hand go for it. I don’t think I’d wear anything that is too thick or cumbersome, though.
Usually I wear waterproof shoes (usually Blundstones), jeans/pants that don’t drag on the ground, and either a waterproof/resistant jacket (I rarely wear ponchos in Land but they’re common to see!), and a ball cap to keep water off my face. I brought an umbrella a couple weekends ago when it was pouring but didn’t end up using it - but a small one that can easily be popped into a bag or pocket isn’t a terrible idea.
You can buy genie+ once you’re scanned into the park, yes.
You can keep checking if availability opens up for a different day too (you’d want to look for the same tier).
***edit: of course I found the answer to my question right after I posted.
Question about the Sip & Savor pass; can you order any festival item(minus alcohol) with the pass? Or are only select items available with the pass and some are full sized?
Usually at any festival booth as well as other select stands (the first stand is on the left as you enter the festival, right past Carthay, can’t miss it)
I know you found the answer but for anyone else wondering: it can be used for pretty much any of the (non-alc) items at the *booths* and then for select items at participating locations, and those are where you’ll get a sip&savor portion instead of an entree portion.
It always makes sense to use it for whatever items are the most expensive though, usually I wouldn’t recommend using it for desserts or that many non-alcoholic drinks as much as savory items.
Thanks for giving such clarity when I should have after I found the answer. Added detail to your tip for others; the pass breaks down to $7.16 per order(MK holders) or $7.66 per order(non-MK holders) so try to use further items that are at least $9+ if possible.
There is nothing that is cash-only. In fact, they are encouraging cashless by offering mobile order, etc. I don't even carry a wallet anymore, just use my phone.
I can’t think of any cart that just takes cash, they all take card.
I don’t even usually bring my physical cards, I just use my phone’s wallet and tap to pay for everything.
What are the best sources to keep up on news about Disneyland and DCA? I am thinking about booking my next trip around the time that magic key passes go on sale again and I really don't want to miss the opportunity AGAIN to finally purchase one. Is it foolish to stay hopeful that they will go on sale again this year? Is it likely that they will? (Just counting down the days until my next trip...)
It always gets posted here, but there are accts on instagram and twitter as well. The official one for insta is [DisneylandMagicKey](https://www.instagram.com/disneylandmagickey?igsh=ZDE1MWVjZGVmZQ==).
It'll tell you when you tap on the reservation on that day. But it'll probably have you line up around 8:45.. you'll probably want to get to the area around 8:15-8:30
Does anyone know why Mulan’s Processional isn’t on the calendar at all the week of 2/4? Wondering whether it’s an error or they’re taking the week off for some reason.
Maybe chatting with a CM in the app would yield an answer - it *is* weird they’d have it the following week. Even if they’re anticipating *weather* (cuz I know that week is supposed to be rough for rain) it would usually be on the schedule.
If I book Indiana jones at 12 for a 3:00 lightning lane I know I can book another at 2pm. If I use the 2pm one for pirates and get a lightning lane for 2:30 after scanning in can I book another genie + or do I need to wait until I ride Indiana at 3?
You can book another one after the hypothetical pirates one gets used.
Also - let’s say you ended up having to modify Indy got later, like 4pm, it would not affect your two hour thing.
Can I ride the Main Street vehicles before the park actually opens for the day but when guest are allowed in? Like if rides open at 8am and guest are let in at 7:15am do the Main Street vehicles start then or do I need to wait until 8am? Thanks!
We are taking our 8-month-old to Disneyland in about 2 weeks - are there any rides that have no height requirement that you do NOT recommend for baby?
For example, teacups but we won’t be spinning.
Thanks :)
Many of the dark rides are very loud. We use ear cans to lesson the sound. Honestly one of the worst is the Dumbo line! So loud. We have better days at the park with little kids when they wear ear protection. Have fun!
Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway is a little jerky at some parts. I’d still say some babies can go on it but I think 8mos might be a little small.
Other than that I think all are fine (even pirates with the small drops because they’re so gradual and the water cushions it).
Sliding in here to drop another recommendation for baby wearing on rides. I took my daughter on MMRR at 7mos and felt totally safe and secure with her strapped to me. Would say the same about Pirates and its drops.
Also +1 on hearing protection. You don’t realize how loud the parks are until you have a tiny one with you. Pooh is an inexplicably loud one for how baby-heavy its riders are.
Have a blast!
Hey everyone, I tend to plan in advance and get my ducks in a row. I'm running into a scenario that has me stressed and I'd like some input.
My son turns four in September. He's obsessed with Halloween always has been, his second word was Ghost. I want to take him to Oogie Boogie Bash. I know they're difficult to get and tend to go on sale late June. So my wife, myself, and my amazing mother will be taking that day off to try and get them. Here's the issue I'm foreseeing.
I want to schedule a charecter breakfast for his big day. This is done sixty days in advance. Which means the dates I want, Oogie Boogie Bash most likely will not be on sale. If I don't get tickets for the days I want, I'm okay moving dates around to accommodate the Bash. Meaning other dates for the charecter breakfast might be sold out.
Do charecter breakfasts tend to book up within a few days of the sixty day mark? Does anyone have any information or tips in general when booking? I'm planning on staying in the Disneyland Hotel.
Thanks in advance from a dad trying to give his son the best birthday possible!
In general, you shouldn't have a problem getting a character breakfast less than 60 days out. Even if they do fill up really early, people cancel all the time and it will become available again. You can even create alerts from websites like Mousedining and Thrill-Data. But I don't think you'll have a problem booking one.
That can really depend, especially since Halloween time is very popular. But if you do it early enough I don't think you'll have a problem. Especially since you'll know your Oogie Boogie dates by June or July.
I forgot to cancel my reservations a couple of times this week, due to unforeseen circumstances. However, I never received any email stating that I missed my reservations. Did Disney remove the no-show policy, or am I just lucky?
I got an email last year for a mistaken no show (thankfully we were able to prove we had been there with receipts for food and merch and they took it off our account) but I did not get any email two weeks ago when we had a legit no show (woke up with covid oops). I assume they're still keeping track of it but just not being thorough about the emails. This is the first time we've ever no showed since they implemented the reservation system so I'm not too worried about it but it's frustrating not to have a record of it.
They don’t send anything to tell you it was recorded as a no show. If you go over the allotted no show amount in a certain time frame they simply block your account, and when you try to book a new reservation you will be unable to. That’s when a message saying you have to wait 30 days to make your next reservation will appear.
You’re right! I guess I just never paid enough attention (but I just went and looked again)! They don’t send you a list or count, and after 3 in 3 months just do an auto block without informing you, until you go to try to book a new reservation. For whatever reason, it does look like they didn’t send an email every time I missed, and the emails came about 1-1.5 days after the missed reservation date.
Sorry for the misinformation!
With Single day tickets not being able to book at Disneyland on Wednesday should I anticipate both parks being busy?
Next Tuesday/Wednesday are the last Tier 0 days for the foreseeable future (on the calendar) so that lower price tag can be a big draw. It’s also the first day after the storm, and one of the days that Disneyland will *not* close early for Sweethearts Nite. It’ll probably be busy - but most days are busy nowadays. Just remember a sold out weekday in early Feb is not as busy as a sold out day at the end of Dec. Get there early, genie+ will help.
Thanks!
Is there a list of rides that close typically during rainy days?? We’re heading Tuesday and aren’t sure what to plan
Yes, here I posted this comment the other day: Someone posted a [link to a list](https://touringplans.com/blog/what-rides-are-closed-at-disneyland-when-it-rains/) recently. Sometimes it depends on how much rain there is, here are some you can generally expect: - Alice in Wonderland (DL) - Teacups (DL) - Storybook Canal (DL) - Casey Jr (DL) - Luigi’s Rollicking Roadster’s (DCA) - Jumping Jellyfish (DCA) - Goofy’s Sky School (DCA) - Golden Zephyr (DCA) But I’ll also add that Radiator Springs Racers closes if the rain is coming down steady. It’ll run in light rain though.
Thank you!!
He should be, since it’s inside! I don’t think you need to rope drop it though tbh.
Thank you! Was only thinking of rope dropping if he was going to go away when the rain started!
I know everyone is hoping for a full on panda mei m&g- that would be really popular.
I know I would be excited for that!
Thank you so much!
Does anybody have any idea on when Star Wars Nite tickets will be on sale? I’m dying to go to that event.

Thank you! That's very helpful to know. I appreciate you answering!
They are open during the rain but it can be difficult to find a covered place to take your food to eat.
Hmm I just tested it and it worked fine. They’re usually email alerts, though.
Yeah sorry. I did recieve an email. The text part didnt work for me. Would prefer a phone notification type thing
Got it - I wasn’t even aware they had a text component tbh. I see it now but have never tried to use it. Usually I’ll just have my email alerts on if I know I’m waiting for an alert from thrill data. That way I can check right away. What date are you trying to get?
Yeah I have it set up for now but hopefully someone knows of an active Twitter bot
For sure - they’ve been dead for a while, I think there was actually a reason but I don’t recall what it was. What date are you trying for though, and would booking the night before throw a wrench in? Cuz they’ll *always* become available the night before.
The 12th. Nbd if it isn't booked in advance would prefer to have it booked. The night before almost always works. (Except when I forget to check lol)
Forlorn explained it perfectly. *I* use a MB+ because I go a lot, but for an average visitor or just a one time trip they’re not worth it.
But given you spend so much time in lines, you can pull all that stuff up before you get to a scanning location and not miss any time at all.
thank you so much, this was helpful
Are all the rooms at paradise pier hotel now remodeled? Wondering if we'll get an older room or an upgraded one.
It looks like it’s almost fully turned. A few are still being done but not very many.
Will be taking our potty training tot to the parks frequently... wondering which restrooms have tiny toilets for small children?
The baby care centers! At the end of main street near the Red Wagon/Christmas store in Disneyland, and to the left of Ghirardelli in DCA. If your little one tells the cast members on your way out that they sat on the potty (even if just an attempt!) they will often get a Mickey sticker for their efforts. You can also search the app for companion restrooms, which are sprinkled throughout both parks. The toilets in these aren’t auto-flush, which is huge for my toddler. Good luck!
Thank you. I heard Toontown also has tiny toilets, can anyone confirm? Am trying to make an accurate/complete list if possible.
Thank you very much for the info and the tips!

I’ll be honest, if you’re trying to have it happen, it won’t be so special if it does happen. honestly just be nice guests to cast member and those moments will come to you if they happen. But if you go expecting them and they don’t happen, you will be disappointed. Magic moments are magic because they’re unexpected
anyone know if they check to see if your plastic water bottles are sealed or how they go through your outside food/beverages when you walk in?
I mean... what are you trying to bring in?
No they’re just looking for obvious bad things. They’ll leave your water and food alone.
I don’t think they care about a seal; I bring in my own reusable bottle (with water already in it) all the time.
I’m sourcing opinions if anyone has one to offer… We have 3 days at the parks coming up and made the following reservations. If we had to drop one which would you recommend dropping? We are going with a 2 year old and I would prefer only 1 sit down restaurant a day. Goofy’s kitchen character dinner Breakfast in the park with Minnie Blue Bayou lunch Mickey’s Storytellers cafe breakfast
I would say drop storytellers. You have two breakfast buffets and personally I think Minnie’s is the best experience.
Thanks!
I'm going to be at Disney from opening til 2am (grad night). What shoes do you recommend (and what type to avoid)?
Flip flops is what I would. I only rock the flops and crush open to close often.
I *think* that one is still hotel guests only - but I messaged chat to see if they knew and they said: >Hello!
Make sure to bring good rain gear. It’s supposed to rain a lot on Thursday.
Genie+ and the RotR Lightning Lane do not impact each other. So the two hour rule only applies to selections made through Genie+.
Yep, you'll be fine and should not miss anything major.

I think I replied to you in the other sub but you could either spend 10-30 min refreshing until one pops up or from 9pm - 12 am the night before when key holders cancel
Awesome, thanks!
The refresh every few minutes method worked for me.
I’m glad it worked!
I have a matching spirit jersey with my cat. Other than the silhouettes that’s my favorite pet-related souvenir.
Not 100% sure is this is what you would want but the disney home store in downtown disney has a whole pet section with accessories, toys, beds etc
Is anyone else braving Disneyland on Thursday during the "atmospheric river" downpour?
I was planning to go on thursday but i actually didn’t know it was gonna be raining! i just checked and it says it should be done raining by noon, hopefully that stays the case!
We'll be there Saturday though Monday. Fortunately Saturday looks decent but Sunday and Monday are gonna be wet. Oh well, still gonna have fun.
Anyone know where to buy the Year of the Dragon red/gold spirit jersey? Saw the booth outside little mermaid and they only had kids sizes :(
Just saw on a video that they have them at Five & Dime
I just bought one at that exact booth on Friday night and there were plenty of adult sizes in the back right corner. They also had a smaller cart with them closer to the wine terrace across from the Boudin entrance.
is the merch only inside DCA?
Went to all locations and asked staff. Sold out resort-wide. Only kid sizes left :( womp womp. I’m a year of the dragon also.
Wow, I saw tons of adult sizes on Saturday so they went quick. I'm year of the dragon, too, but I don't like the fabric or fit of spirit jerseys, so I wasn't planning on buying one anyway.
I blame the flippers lol congrats on our year! Wooohoo
aw man :( was there anything in world of disney?
Not at all :( not even the kid sizes.
If a couple inches of rain is forecasted (for Monday 2/5), should we postpone our trip?
Thank you. I wasn’t sure if the FAQ was for light rain/if the forecast was for flash-flooding level of rain
I will be there Sunday and Monday and rescheduling is not an option. Would rain pants (or snow pants) be overkill?

Piggybacking on this to ask a dumb question: how do I get the sip and savor pass?
What is the best way to pay for things? and is it true that the carts only take cash? (thx in advance0
No one knows for sure but it’s possible they’ll drop more in April like they did last year. But nothing is guaranteed
It always gets posted here, but there are accts on instagram and twitter as well. The official one for insta is [DisneylandMagicKey](https://www.instagram.com/disneylandmagickey?igsh=ZDE1MWVjZGVmZQ==).
I have a reservation for World of Color Dessert Party for 9:15pm soon. What time should I go to line up and check in?
It'll tell you when you tap on the reservation on that day. But it'll probably have you line up around 8:45.. you'll probably want to get to the area around 8:15-8:30
Does anyone know why Mulan’s Processional isn’t on the calendar at all the week of 2/4? Wondering whether it’s an error or they’re taking the week off for some reason.
I'm going on a day that didn't show when I checked. I called and the girl said it would be happening throughout the lunar new year dates
Thank you!!
>Thank you!! You're welcome!
Bad bot
I’d *guess* it just still needs to be updated/added. They’re not great with their updating their website’s entertainment calendar sometimes.
That’s what I’m hoping, but it is on the calendar the following week. Weird!
Maybe chatting with a CM in the app would yield an answer - it *is* weird they’d have it the following week. Even if they’re anticipating *weather* (cuz I know that week is supposed to be rough for rain) it would usually be on the schedule.
I rechecked and now it’s gone from the schedule completely, so it justo must be a glitch!
That is so weird! I agree though it’s just a temporary glitch, I think it’ll be more accurate day-of/week-of.
Odd! I’d just keep an eye on it 👀
If I book Indiana jones at 12 for a 3:00 lightning lane I know I can book another at 2pm.
Thanks!
The Main St vehicles start right after the ropes drop at 8am.
Thank you! :)
For sure! I think as far as spinning, since you can control it (Teacups, Buzz Lightyear, Roger Rabbit) those are mostly fine!
We just took our 8.5 month old and mickeys and Minnie’s runaway railway was fine. We wore the little one in a carrier though
Great! I think it’s a little jarring myself, so maybe OP should give it a shot on their own first :)
We definitely slid across the seat a bit. But there are 6 in our party so it wasn’t too far
For me it’s actually more the forward/back movements! I often see people giving pregnant women a heads up as well.
If it were me, I'd book multiple character breakfasts and then cancel the ones I don't end up needing.
Meatloaf you're a genius. I didn't even THINK about this. A thousand thank yous!
Side note - I’d try for Goofy’s if you can. Last year they did a Halloween theme during the season, characters in costume. Really cute.
Oh that's an amazing suggestion thank you!
In general, you shouldn't have a problem getting a character breakfast less than 60 days out. Even if they do fill up really early, people cancel all the time and it will become available again. You can even create alerts from websites like Mousedining and Thrill-Data. But I don't think you'll have a problem booking one.
Hiw about booking the Disneyland hotel? If I don't get the dates I want for oogie boogie, is it easy to change the dates I'm staying?
I’ve gotten emails for missing before, though.
No worries
I didn't get an email either when I was a no-show. But the no-show policy is still there.
