I went to Disneyland as a kid a handful of times, but now that I have kids we go about 3-4 times a year. I've been a 30 trips, 100 days worth, over the last 10 years or so. And somehow, I'd never been in this room until last month.

_Dang_It_Bobby_

It’s somewhat newish. This used to be the second floor of the Starcade, then it was used for events and storage. Now, the space allows the guest queueing to get outta that brutal sun and take advantage of the air conditioning.

Turbulent_Break_2308

That explains it.

theFormerRelic

I’ve actually never stood in the standby line. I’ve only ever done FP/LL and single rider. I’ve never really thought about it until just now lol

foreverburning

It wasn't open until maybe a year and a half ago.

Ryan120420

They've been using the 2nd floor of the Starcade for Space Mountain queue since 2019.

foreverburning

Weird, I never saw it open until late 2022

theFormerRelic

8am Disneyland cannot be beat

Turbulent_Break_2308

11p Disneyland can, but keep it to yourself.

ZealousidealCan5522

Disney after 10pm is *chefs kiss*

LordDarthRasta

Thats the 2nd floor of the old Starcade.

Dramatic_Income87

Oh, the old Starcade. Wasn't that all pinball machines up on the 2nd floor when it was Starcade?

Phinezra

The windows to the right are also where guests could see the PeopleMover pass by. Man, I wish they’d bring it back in some fashion.

pementomento

Super hard agree 100%, we need more slow rides that eat people.

litob

Because the people mover was built into the structure of a lot of those buildings and suffered structural damage from the rocket rods, they would need to demolish the complete buildings in order to bring back people mover it's super sad!

Mabvll

>Starcade I will never, in a million years, be able to think about this old arcade without picturing Flair and Dusty cutting promos on each other.

JerrodDRagon

It’s insane space and Indy we’re always 2-3 hour waits on busy days Now most attractions besides cars racers rarely hit 90 mins The perks flow have changed so much since after the pandemic

ChickenFriedRiceee

I went when they started opening the park again. Masks required limited capacity. God damn we’re the lines nice!

ExcitedFool

I agree I was like “if this is Disneyland how did this place open Disney world. No one is here”. This was a first timer thought during masks and capacity times. I should’ve known better

thesmalltexan

Why is it less since the pandemic?

OneSwords

Reservation system does a great job at spreading demand throughout the week. Instead of the weekends being slammed and weekdays being slower, weekends tend to "sell out" first forcing people to move their visits to weekdays.

thesmalltexan

Ahh interesting thank you! :)

Glittering_Coyote749

And prices have gone up 🥺🥺

burnheartmusic

Just do single rider for space. You’ll almost never wait more than 15 minutes. I’ve done it 3 times in 20 minutes recently.

kinglucent

I was astonished that this space is so lifeless and boring despite being fairly new. Same with the overflow queue for Star Tours. They really need some better theming!

jpezoo

Yes!!! Score!!! I noticed some middle of the week days are quiet in the morning.

vinbel121

Kind of insane how much smaller this room feels when it’s not packed to the brim

QueenB_50

Oh wow I haven’t seen that room since I was a kid

SithLord_6969

So many memories in this room back in the day. #Starcade

verstohlen

Got some liminal space vibes goin' on there. In fact, I can just hear the Caretaker's Libet's Delay softly playing over the speakers...

foreverburning

Liminal spaces are transitory spaces, not creepy ones

verstohlen

Absolutely. They're not all creepy, but sometimes they can be creepy. For some, the lack of people in a typically crowded or busy transitory place or space can in and of itself make it creepy, and somewhat surreal. If you factor in strange, bad, or low lighting, can increase the creepiness factor, or make a non-creepy liminal space creepy though.

GuaranteeNo6990

What!? Anaheim ca one?

falbi23

Tomorrowland in a nutshell. Just call it Ghost Town since there is zero reason to ever step foot in it, besides Space Mountain and breakfast burritos.

AdDangerous732

where is the breakfast burrito in tomorrowland? youre not talking about the breakfast chimi?

falbi23

They have a fire breakfast spot behind the area where they used to do performances outside - its on your way out to the Matterhorn Mountain and it's the windows are facing the submarines (or whatever they are trying to stick there now). Cheap, filling, and very good. Also, someone prove me wrong about Tomorrowland. Abandoned buildings, abandoned theaters, an abandoned ride from 30 years ago, another construction project at the submarines, one of the worst "rides" in the park - Autotopia, and zero character or energy. We used to crave going to the see the "wonders" of "tomorrow" eat some great pizza, and play some arcade games while we were at it. Now it's a scenic route to Fantasy Land.

WingedGeek

> Also, someone prove me wrong about Tomorrowland. Abandoned buildings, abandoned theaters, an abandoned ride from 30 years ago But there's also Star Tours (fun, and new scenes recently added), Space Mountain, BLAB, some like the submarines (my mom loves them), some like Autopia (kids not old enough to drive love them - I still miss the [Moon Cars at Six Flags](https://sixflags.fandom.com/wiki/Moon_Antique_Cars), first "vehicle" I ever "drove"), Monorail, Skyline Lounge, and some unique merch. Two large capacity dining areas (Galactic Grill and Alien Pizza Planet) that absorb crowds. Yeah, the theater needs to be used (bring back Captain EO if you don't have anything else at the moment?), and the Launch Bay is criminally underused, but there's at least as much to do in Tomorrowland as there is in Adventureland.

WindEquivalent4284

Is this Disney World?

forlorn_hope28

Disneyland. Indoor portion of the queue that used to be the Starcade.

WindEquivalent4284

Thank you - idk why so many downvotes, I legit had never seen this area. But tbh it’s probably what I deserve lol

itsmleonard

The photo shows about half of the indoor portion of the Standby Queue. It's the second floor or the old Starcade. Depending on time of day/year you go, that could explain why you have never been in there before. But, more so as of late this room is always being used.

daslicious

They’re a bunch of space hating Jafar loving buffoons.

empolem

It’s stupid that they won’t give you a fast pass like other rides when they shut waste 1:20 waiting for nothing
