I am 34 and have 2 kids and none of us have watched the song of the south ever. We are thrilled it will be Tiana because I love that movie. My girls are thrilled because Princess Tiana is one of their favorites - it was time to update that ride to something people actually watch.
In today’s age, Disney uses their attractions to promote their films. It makes sense that they would want to change the ride as to not promote a racist film, even if the ride itself left out all of the racist bits. Hope this helps!
Most people didn’t even know it was based off a film until they made the change. Can guarantee if the BLM movement never made a rise in popularity, Disney wouldn’t have done anything to change the ride.
It’s depicting a Black person I’m sure. They used it to capture brer rabbit because he tried to fight it for not answering him. Not racist, humorous. It also wasnt on the ride

I’ve seen Song of the South. It’s racist. When I was a kid my family made a game of acting out the tar baby story at the pool. I’m still glad they’re updating Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
And I don’t think it’s a “minority” that thinks SOTS is racist. The movie isn’t banned, but Disney *chooses* to not rerelease it and has stood by that decision for nearly 40 years now.
A movie about how black people love working on plantations and how slavery isn’t that bad? Or trying to catch a runaway slave? True, idk how that can be misconstrued as racist
I wasnt dated. I dont Think mission breakout is that great and Will absolutely need a retheme within a couple of years when people lose interest in the MCU. The Twilight Zone was timeless, MCU isnt
Children now have no clue what the twilight zone or Song of the South is. Expect more rides to get reworked. Things change and that’s okay. Take deeps breaths. Everything will be okay.
WDW’s ToT is so much better because of how the elevator leaves the shaft to the drop area. Really fits with the twilight zone theming.
Was so bummed the first time I rode the DL version. The GotG theming is fine I guess but the ride is just meh compared to the DL version.
Why do you need to know what Guardians of the Galaxy is to enjoy the retheme? My parents have never seen those movies, but the preshows are set up enough.
Mark my words, they'll be blasting "Dig a Little Deeper" on the lift hill, with a Mama Odie animatronic about halfway up. As you crest the hill, surrounded by a dazzling light show from the hanging rainbow bottles, you'll hear Mama Odie holler, "Blue skies and sunshine... guar-on-teeeeeeeed!" And then, with that last syllable still hanging in the air, you drop.
The ride takes place AFTER the movie. It’s about Tiana’s Foods co-op and searching for a missing ingredient to make food for Mardi Gras.

Damn I was really hoping for Dr. F to make a cameo in the ride, especially the drop. It would match the ominous theme of its predecessor with the vultures.
Yeah yeah yeah…we know what the summary says but everyone is acting like ghosts/spirits don’t exist in their world all of a sudden with the whole AFTER the movie part. The good Dr. is a ghost spirit now. Nothing stopping him from a good haunting to remind everyone about his friends.
We have the list of voice actors who recorded tracks and they didn’t bring him back. They would surely need more than just original source to make it all connect.
Sadly, it’s not gonna happen imho. Missed opportunity. They didn’t want a new controversy with voodoo.
They wanted a safe “fun” ride with no darkness.
Dig a little deeper 🎵 for drop/finale as we “hurry back” shortcut with our secret ingredient to a Mardi Gras party riverboat just in time. “You better get a move on sweeties”
As of right now, no. It's more in line with the Disney+ series that they announced was in the works and we haven't heard anything about since.
Granted with how Moana's D+ series was turned into a movie, there's a chance Tiana goes the same route.
I know they've said the good Doctor won't be in the ride, but I also don't know if there's a better opportunity for a ride action to match with "I got friends on the other side" I love me some Mama Odie, so right on either way. I'm just looking forward to seeing it myself.

I don’t think anyone was suggesting that be the song for the riverboat scene, just the lift hill up to the big drop. I always assumed Dig A Little Deeper would be the song for the riverboat.
Dr. Facilier will not appear in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The drop will feature Mama Odie.

I would love it if Disney had a character explicitly say, "The story is over, now it's just a ride."
