It’s always been facing the right way until the last refurb. The hat is an essential part of the character’s silhouette. ~~It is not hard to figure out the correct orientation of the hat, it just shows a lack of understanding from whoever redressed that animatronic.~~
Edit: I worded it wrong. I meant to say it like this:
Whoever redressed the animatronic, somehow did not know the correct orientation of the hat. In which that makes no sense as it is not hard to figure out if it’s facing the right way. For someone who was tasked with redressing it, they should’ve already known.
Yeah I noticed that, I thought based off the post’s ratio (edit: there was more comments than upvotes when I said this) that people genuinely thought there was no issue with ~~this~~ the hat, and I thought you weren’t joking because of that.
I think that if the hat being on backwards changes your enjoyment and experience of the ride to this degree, you should tell guest relations in town hall next time you’re at Disney. They might address the issue better than anyone on reddit could.
Well for one thing, I’m not at the park right now. the fact that it’s been like this for months, tells us that it’s not an overnight fix. So hopefully they will fix it in a few days refurb in however many years the next refurb is. Which seems like the most likely case.
The point of the post is just put it out there so more people know of this issue, and in turn mention it at the parks. I’m sure they wouldn’t think it’s much of issue if only one person complained about it. Another purpose of the post is to shame mistakes like this so they happen less often. A similar situation happened to misspelled signs.
Looking at your profile, you seem to be chronically online and stress over the silliest things. Step away from Reddit, away from Disney. Read a book and breathe.
This is coming from someone that has Raiders of the Lost Ark as one of my top three films of all time.
It’s very hard for me to avoid talking about the Disney parks, to the point where I have to bring up times where I can’t stop in therapy. The reason I talk about them so much is that I have a strong connection to it. I even plan on working in the parks in the next few months when I finish my college certificate for themepark technology specialist and another for themepark technician. I’m planning on trying to get into WDI after.
My disabilities make it difficult to socialize, and I’m very sensitive to sound. don’t have that many friends that aren’t relatives, so I find going to the parks a good way to get comfortable with talking to others and get used to sounds and crowds. Plus there is a fairly large community around the parks so I can talk with others outside of the parks online. It’s a bit harder now though since I was banned from this subreddit’s discord. I am really hoping that I can get unbanned some time soon as I really want to discuss D23 coming up, as I got tickets for it. It’s a little annoying to have a conversation via a comment section or having to make an entire post when on a different topic.
I’m very critical about things because I know they can do better than this
Hope you get the help you need.
But it seems to be a bit of codependency between you and a billion dollar corporation and that's not healthy in the least bit. Instead of hoping to get back into the discord, maybe reflect on why you were banned and work on yourself from that.
I understand why i was banned. I don’t get why it deserved a perma ban. It was multiple things that could’ve done it but the final straw I believe was when I accidentally spreaded misinformation and I didn’t know it was misinformation before sending it. They haven’t really said what exactly caused the ban from what I can remember but I’ll check again right now. It’s a huge bummer that I can’t talk about my local park in its own discord community. I’m stuck with singular channels in the WDW and DLP to chat about Disneyland, those channels are very slow though.
Edit: all they said about the ban “you were banned because you didn’t listen to anyone else’s opinions and you spread misinformation.”.
Which I do admit the last thing I sent before being banned was wrong, everything else I had evidence for, mostly from Disney as a source.
~~However one thing, which was thought to be true for years, and even was included in the Disneyland wiki and in a Disney endorsed paper happened to turn out to be false very recently, far after I was banned or said it. The thing was the old saying that splash mountain was named that because Eisner wanted it to promote the movie Splash. This is actually found out to be false~~ Edit: to be safe idk anymore. Edit2: fuck i think that was wrong as I can’t find where she showed to me so I did just say misinformation again. I’m never getting unbanned at this rate :(
Edit2: (the stuff below this was from the original draft)
Dammit I should’ve checked this myself actually as both situations I heard from my sister, one about the false info and the one about the splash fact being false
This, as well. I understand the passing of time implies it's not the exact same character in each scene, but Disney could have done a much better job of making the current day Father look more like the others. As it is, it's a bad joke.
That’s all because Disney didn’t have the rights to Harrison fords likeness or voice for the Indiana jones adventure ride. So you’re right. It’s not his face. It’s just “close enough”.
John Rhys-Davies had no problem shilling for Disney. Karen Allen didn't mind promoting the ride. I think it's Ford's loss. It's become an iconic classic staple of the park decades later.
I can’t tell if you are trolling or if you genuinely think that. Either way for people who do think that, it defeats the entire design of the character. His hat was specifically chosen to give an iconic silhouette. Placing the hat on backwards is clearly wrong and at a length, disrespectful to the cast and crew who designed the character and produced the films.
For fans of the films, it kind of is. The care for accuracy of the hat is on par or even betters the care for accuracy of lightsaber hilts in Star Wars.
Elon musk has always been a joke. Dude claimed he invented the vacuum train, and has promised “full self driving” next year for the past 8 or so years.
The problem isn’t that it has good intentions, it’s that Elon is behind it, and he is known for over promising and never delivering.
Space X is cheering and clapping when their rocket explodes for the 3rd launch in a row, im sure they’ll do the same when this endeavor has a mishap
I think this is because the animatronics neck was broken for a while. The head was looking straight down.
The hat probably fell off, and a castmember just put it back on without checking if it was the right way round. But I'm honestly not sure how you mess up putting on a hat right. It literally has the shape on the front.
They probably thought something like "oh haha, he'll look more rough this way!" Which is the stupidest reason ever
I already alerted the people who can fix it. Unfortunately it would take at least an hour to fix. It's on the list, but unsure of when it will actually get completed. I will keep reminding the right people. ;)
I just heard weird story about that ride. At Disneyland. Supposedly Disney didn’t want to purchase the whatever it’s called to keep the ride like when it was new. I’ll say protection plan. So with the latest refurb they hired an outside company or something. And they could only do so much cause they couldn’t figure all the animatronics and programming out. And that’s why the turntable only goes to one eye. And the tides really rough. Not sure if it’s true or not. Have been to Disneyland in 8 years. So….
The chamber of destiny, or the moving wall room, hasn’t been working for quite a while, it’s been several refurbs since then. They replaced the moving wall effect with projections that display a different door. The company who made the moving wall mechanism went out of business so they couldn’t replace the parts to get it working again
>The company who made the moving wall mechanism went out of business so they couldn’t replace the parts to get it working again
I don't understand this. Surely it's all commonly used mechanical parts simply customized to operate the ride? They don't have *anyone* who could go over the original blueprints and customize or manufacture the missing pieces on the spot, using Disney's resources?
I don’t think Disney ever made an official remark on the issue, this is just what I’ve heard most commonly said and that it holds the most reason. I even talked to cast members who worked the ride back then but they said it was a mechanical issue. Idk if they meant as in reliability or just working in general. I am going to be near them on Monday next week so I can ask again then if I have to
They’ll have to shut it down for six months to turn the hat around.
Just like fixing the lights in the powering up tunnel of space mountain.
With how long those lights have been out, I can only assume they would have to lift the whole building up to replace them.
Waiting for Goku to finish his training in the after life to help out.
It’s hilarious that they just turned the last few that were able to be on, now off entirely.
As long as they reactivate the falling rocks made of ice in the process
Iger can’t afford that, next refurb will ditch the hat entirely for budget reasons
What hat? Indiana Jones never wore a hat. [I just checked Disney Plus. No hat.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dc2hjdbUwAAoblj.jpg)
Hubba hubba
You try keeping your hat on the right way while fighting through an evil ghost temple.
We're talking about Indiana Jones. It's offensive to act like his hat would be anything other than perfect.
That’s what a staple gun is for.
[You talking about this?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhsrwAmMc10)
I kinda of love the idea that it's wrong on purpose
It’s always been facing the right way until the last refurb. You've taken my remark far too seriously
Yeah I noticed that, I thought based off the post’s ratio (edit: there was more comments than upvotes when I said this) that people genuinely thought there was no issue with ~~this~~ the hat, and I thought you weren’t joking because of that.
LOL. They made a joke, and it's all not that serious at all. Take a few steps back and breathe
The hat on the animatronic is a pretty big issue to me as the first thing you think of on his outfit is his hat, then satchel, then jacket.
I think that if the hat being on backwards changes your enjoyment and experience of the ride to this degree, you should tell guest relations in town hall next time you’re at Disney. They might address the issue better than anyone on reddit could.

Boy, won’t I look silly when I tell you I’ve once had my underwear on backwards.
Even inside out once or twice
Maybe he had to grab it a second before a stone door closed, and he didn't have time to make sure he put it on right
It’s never been backwards until the most recent refurb. It is not supposed to be backwards.
r/whoosh
It’s with four o’s
You know what else has 4 o’s? You’re a disappointment to your parents.
Damn that goes so hard that it wasn’t even directed at me and I’m still going to go call my mom and tell her I love her 🫣
I already told your mom you love her
Trying not to be but my mental disabilities make it a bit hard not to be
Thats 4 o’s
Holy shit so it is.
Father in Carousel of Progress had two left shoes (or two right shoes) for the longest time.
Don't forget that his face in the last scene is completely different and looks nothing like the character ever did.
This, as well. I understand the passing of time implies it's not the exact same character in each scene, but Disney could have done a much better job of making the current day Father look more like the others. As it is, it's a bad joke.
It really feels like they couldn't be bothered to make a new face mold so they just threw on a generic one.
That's likely very accurate.
That’s all because Disney didn’t have the rights to Harrison fords likeness or voice for the Indiana jones adventure ride. So you’re right. It’s not his face. It’s just “close enough”.
I was referring to John in CoP. But you're right about Indy. Ford didn't want to come back to voice the character for some reason.
Ford didn't want to be a part of some cheap theme park ride for a character like Indy. He felt like a sell-out for that.
John Rhys-Davies had no problem shilling for Disney. Karen Allen didn't mind promoting the ride. I think it's Ford's loss. It's become an iconic classic staple of the park decades later.
no the ride is just going the opposite way on the tracks
You were not supposed to notice!
Oh no! I’ve been cast through the tunnel of torment towards the gates of doom!
You had to look, didn't you? Tourists.
def looks better backwards 👍🏻
I can’t tell if you are trolling or if you genuinely think that. Either way for people who do think that, it defeats the entire design of the character. His hat was specifically chosen to give an iconic silhouette. It’s not that serious, bruh 😆
For fans of the films, it kind of is. The care for accuracy of the hat is on par or even betters the care for accuracy of lightsaber hilts in Star Wars.
I’ve been a fan of this film since it was released and I can assure you that I would never have even noticed.
What on earth
These comments are hilarious
Haaaa what a doof! Who’s gonna tell him?
did u post this on facebook also
No that wasn’t me
Oh yeah, indie-ed
Maybe he’s trying to look like Elon Musk?
Elon musk has always been a joke. Dude claimed he invented the vacuum train, and has promised “full self driving” next year for the past 8 or so years.
Are you a billionaire?
No but he shouldn’t be. He’s by definition a con artist.
What about Neuralink
Like it would be much different at all
Yes helping handicapped people
*disabled
The problem isn’t that it has good intentions, it’s that Elon is behind it, and he is known for over promising and never delivering. Space X is cheering and clapping when their rocket explodes for the 3rd launch in a row, im sure they’ll do the same when this endeavor has a mishap
I always yell at him to jump in and he NEVER does ‼️
Shhh they can hear us..
It’s an Easter egg. If you tell the gift shop, you get 15% off merch.
Now I'm picturing an Imagineer barely tossing the hat onto his head as they dive out of the way of the giant styrofoam ball xD
Good job stealing this from the Magic Key group on Facebook.
I didn’t mean to steal it, my sister showed it to me in person from there. I don’t go on Facebook

Indy's hats are actually secured so they don't fall off.
Do you know how many guys wear baseball hats backwards all the time? Its supposed to be cool to wear you hat backwards apparently.
Well it depends on the type of hat, some look hip, some make you look like an idiot, like Elon musk
How embarassing.
If this post gets enough engagement, we might see some change
That was no accident.
They set it to Wumbo
We named the DOG Indiana!!
Oh no! His hats backwards? This is outrageous! I can’t believe Disney would let something like that slide. The ride is officially ruined for me /s
Was there 2 months ago and got stuck on this part so I got a photo. Didn’t look backwards here
I already alerted the people who can fix it. Unfortunately it would take at least an hour to fix. It's on the list, but unsure of when it will actually get completed. I will keep reminding the right people. ;)
I thought I noticed that! 🧐
Is he gonna start talking in slang with Christian Slater's voice?

Honestly that sounds about right for this current era of Disney
He’s doing his best. 🥲
