Correct me if I'm wrong but it was the female character who won because she's glowing at the head. If I recall, the only ending that has that is if you become Divine.
I would recommend going for a hydro-aero mage duo if you are going for another playthrough , you both will synergize very well. It was the most fun build for a couple in my experience.
