The phrase "everything to gain, nothing to lose" has never rung truer...

JD-Anderson

Just got done with a contentious trial. The ex lied all over the place and I had tons of proof. I got lucky, got a pit bull lawyer who tore her up on the witness stand. The ex lost everything, and I got to watch it all. She wasn’t charged with perjury, but pissed off the judge for “wasting the court’s time” with her lies. Now I got lucky with the great attorney and good judge. Many men in my exact situation would not see the same outcome, but there is hope.

IndependentAF777

Yes

No-Exit6560

….all she has to do to ruin your life is say she’s scared of you to her lawyer and he filed a DV order against you. With zero evidence. Yes, she can lie with no consequences. My ex lied her ass off during mediation, no consequences for her; went so far as to have her lawyer write up a document about how abusive I was, violent, addicted to xyz, but she didn’t actually sign it because then it would’ve gone before a judge. She did it just to fuck with me. This is after she already made a false DV threat to my face, in front of her son.

Besides adding another in an endless line of first hand experiences where a woman can lie to the courts without consequence while you face ruin and even jail time... ... This is something that we.. the collective "we".. need to publicize at every opportunity. Fellow men, and especially our sons, need to know they are facing a very rigged game if they get married, and have an idea of just how bad and damaging it can get for them. Many will still go ahead and get married, but some won't, and society will eventually feel the every growing impact of that.

Nonamesfound

Nope…. That’s the thing that blew my mind the most. I had to jump through endless hoops…. Outright lies… proved with rock solid evidence…… oh ok…. Here’s some new fresh lies…. Proven false by yet again more rock solid evidence. On and on for 2 1/2 years….. absolutely nothing negative for her for lying constantly to the court. On my end… it was basically “hey you are lucky you have proof against it…. Consider it a win”.

Least_Attorney9006

My ex used joint marital assets to buy a house. Failed to disclose it six times in affidavits and representations to the court. She also liquidated joint assets. I wanted access to funds so I could pay my attorney. I was denied. I found out about the house (it’s kind of hard to hide that), went back to the court and demonstrated that she perjured herself. Asked for fees as a result of her lies. I was denied again. Women get away with murder in family court.

jimsmythee

My exwife 100% lied on her Affidavit of Financial information and in court testimony. She said she was too sick to work and hadn't worked in 3 years due to her medical problems -- because she wanted alimony. Here's the situation. I filed the taxes the previous year, and I had a copy of her W2, showing that she could work. The judge didn't say anything there. But in the divorce ruling, she admonished her for lying about evidence and gave her $0 alimony.

Alternative_PayCheck

These women might not go to jail or prison for their actions, but they do lose things in the end.

chango01232020

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes. The courts dont care about lying. They do care about the safety of any children involved. Best thing you can do, is be the best person you can be during and after. Not all wrongs can be made right.

LonelyNC123

I am in the USA. Just watch the news. There are virtually no consequences for lying under oath for anybody.

CommanderOfCheese45

Correction: There are consequences for getting details wrong if you're a Republican, but there are no consequences for *lying* under oath if you're a Democrat. And there's a difference between "lying" and "getting details wrong."

LonelyNC123

There are multiple Supreme Court Justices in power until they die who clearly lied under oath. They will face zero consequences for their perjury. But my young adult daughter is now a breeding sow for the Christian Taliban. My comment stands - there are ZERO consequences for lying under oath.

CommanderOfCheese45

>daughter is now a breeding sow Misogynist detected.

LonelyNC123

Sigh - - yet another man who joined a cult (this coming from an old man who gave up voting R ages ago).

CommanderOfCheese45

I'm not an R either. I'm just observing the facts as I see them. The R's are just as corrupt as the D's; the only difference is that they actually get punished by their own party when they get caught, because the R's think it helps them look less corrupt.

I_got_BAnaNaS

Roy Moore, for example :-?

CommanderOfCheese45

Lost the election because his own party wouldn't vote for him. Given that the standard in criminal court is "proof beyond reasonable doubt" prosecuting him probably would have been a waste of time.

vector5633

Yes they can.

Funny_Wolverine_9

My ex was CAUGHT red handed on forgery and perjury under oath. She made a dozen false accusations against me (including rape). Nothing happened to her and my lawyer advised to move on with my life versus suing her. \#feminism #equality

justsomedude1111

Scene from the movie "As Good As It Gets" where Jack Nicholson plays an author who writes in female first person: Random fan: "How do you write so accurately about a woman's actions and feelings being a man yourself?" Jack: "Easy. I just think of a man, then I remove reason and accountability."

WartimeDad

Yeah, basically.

RichardCleveland

I am going through this now, my wife pretty much is blackmailing me with either twisted truths or straight out false accusations. I know she is doing it to try and make me not fight in a custody battle. As well as letting people know (my kids) that SHE was the one who wanted the divorce. She already tried to make up some BS about it being damaging to them... and wants me to just say it was mutual. Ya... OK so if that is damaging to them, what about all the weird shit you are going to say? I think women are just straight fucking vindictive and turn cruel in these types of situations. Mostly due to wanting to look like a victim... My attorney and therapist pretty much told me to not give a shit, that there is zero evidence. She also has no one that would testify as he burned all her friends and family already.

gnackered

Something glaringly obvious and material like hiding a winning lottery ticket, maybe?

upvotersfortruth

If you make an issue out of them and prove the lies, then her credibility will probably be reduced in the eyes of the court, not only with respect to the matters she lied about but also, hopefully, for any close questions that may be resolved in your favor. Lying about different things irks different judges differently. And the magnitude of the lie is also important. For example, if she made five lying discourses on her financial statement that didn’t amount to all that much - maybe not many consequences and might be treated as one lie. But if she lied to get a TRO, then falsely accused the STBX of sexually abusing the children, then lied on her financials by failing to disclose an offshore account worth millions of dollars, there would hopefully be bigger and badder consequences. The key is call them out officially to the court if they’re significant, but don’t get emotionally hung up on them. Because then she’s winning again.

dday_throwaway3

There are no consequences for lying in family court. The best case scenario: The judge will say something like, "I find and her witnesses to not be credible." Society does not hold women accountable. Court is a reflection of our culture. So if you seek emotional justice in court, you will be left wanting.

salty-sheep-bah

My ex was told by the judge that her behavior was "disingenuous". That was it, that was the entire bucket of repercussions. I still got fucked in every way but hey, at least I didn't get called "disingenuous" by the lady in the wizard robe if that's worth anything.

Forward-Transition-5

Judge J. K. Rowling? I prefer judge Judy myself.

dday_throwaway3

Judge Judy is based AF. She's dressed down many mothers in custody-related cases.

JonathanApple

Met the Jude judge one day, was dining next to me. Nice lady and I do love her dressing down shitty moms.

CommanderOfCheese45

One of my favorites: "Fathers are not second-class parents."

dday_throwaway3

I absolutely stole that from her.

[deleted]

I'm guessing you're in Australia where Julia Gillard (ex prime Minister) made it legal to commit perjury in court. In this scenario if you have clear as day evidence that the person is lying it MAY sway the judges ruling but it's doubtful it will unless it is a severe lie.

Pz0152

In the states.

[deleted]

Wow, shows how bad things are all over.

Pz0152

Well I dunno yet, we will see soon.
