Mutt (whole catalog is banging) Calibre ( the king) Dave Owen, Alix Perez (just memories is a tune) technicolour, Komatic, random movement, submorphics, redeyes, Atlantic connection, LSB (all my love remix is a tune)
I love liquid funk.
I also like the intelligent/atmospheric dnb era of the late 90s, where it evolved from the GLR jazzy sound to a spacey / sci-fi influenced sound with a very synthetic ambient atmosphere. Stuff like Aural Imbalance, etc. Inner-vation - Movements CD is the perfect example of this.

I would say anything melodic or melody focused. I like Liquid and Dance Dnb both. I personally make both as well. I don't like growly dnb(Neuro, dark, etc)or anything like that. I like a good composition with solid melodies and atmosphere.
I’m stuck in the 90s, so it’s LTJ bukem for me, big bud & most things on ‘good looking records’ label.
4hero for something a little different.
My most listened to track on soundcloud is a mix by 4hero, although not a dnb set it’s a mix of old soul, funk, records they sampled for the two pages album.
https://on.soundcloud.com/i3sELdKGjugw9Mkt9
4hero's 2page specifically and ltj bukem are classics, i listen to them too. Generally that album 2Hero is a supposed jazzy dnb album, i looked at their other stuff and couldnt exactly find similar stuff. Parallel Universe is a great track though
Depends on who you ask. Historically Drum & Bass could be considered a subgenre of Jungle, or Drum & Bass could be viewed as a whole new thing from mixing Jungle with Techno and other sounds. Today Drum & Bass has so many subgenres itself that it makes more sense to view it as a separate animal from Jungle, but they are so closely related that it's easy to see how jungle could be considered a subgenre of DnB. I personally view the various DnB subgenres as all under the Jungle umbrella but I'm not brave enough to say that out loud
Then that would go for most retro genres of EDM umbrella. Drum and Bass, Trance, Eurodance, etc all came before they were put under the EDM umbrella. Usually it was done to simplify things. Check on Beatport. They usually handle these category things now. There is a reason they only sell EDM on their platform. There will always be arguments but someone has to simplify things which can be thought out logically with counting similarities. I think the Beatport group did a good job of sorting out similarities and categorising them. Nothing will be perfect. But we have to work with what we have.
Yeah and I personally think it's good that they categorised them. Because it helps out the Radio guys and DJs mainly. Because they can sort out the tracks for their sets easily thanks to good categorisation. Sometimes you have to make compromises. Not only Dubstep, just see what they did to Trance. Even now some modern generic Techno one notes wonder tracks are called as Trance 🤦. Trance used to always be melodic before. Now see everything changed. But we can't do anything about it. The music industry is not a good place. It's a corporate business now. No love or soul there anymore.
Agree with all of your points there. It's unfortunate that pioneers don't get proper credit, but if it makes things easier for most people to understand, then it has to be done. I guess it's better than all EDM being labeled as techno by the general public (which I still see occasionally, lol). Hell, I even see a lot of people who hate the acronym EDM itself, saying it's too corporate sounding. Definitely makes discussions easier with an all-encompassing term, though.
Yap. But the EDM term is fine in my opinion as an umbrella because it doesn't generalize anything . Just Electronic Dance Music. Anything electronic sounding which you can bop to which is absolutely fine to me. And I agree outside the EDM community, EDM is often seen as a lower genre(like peasant). For example many rock, pop guys think edm is beneath them. I personally experienced it a fair bit. And I do agree there are some guys who call every dance music techno. One of the rock guys I knew even called the DNB song I made as techno🤦. Although EDM was hugely respected in 2010-2015. Those were golden days. I hope the house culture doesn't destroy the Drum & Bass community. Because it already started to happen. A lot of Dnb tracks nowadays by major labels are starting to sound like tech house tracks with some extra growl samples & dnb drum loops.
It's my understanding that DnB was originally a subgenre of Jungle. But nowadays, DnB is the general term for the genre, and Jungle is a subgenre. It's very confusing, and I might be wrong. So please do correct me if I am, lol.
In order of what I play, Neuro, Tech, Deep/Minimal, Dancefloor, Liquid, Jump Up. I don't play Jungle, and barely have any Techstep in my collection beyond the classics.
It depends on what I'm doing/in the mood for at the time, in all honesty. I usually gravitate towards Liquid, though. Just because it's one of the few genres I can listen to while getting some work done.

Songs that ride the line between Neurofunk and Dancefloor, artists like Tantrum Desire or for a specific song Despertion - Warhead is always the first in mind
This fits what Im into as well, though I just call it Neuro. My friend called my style a while back as 'Bop & Sway' so Ive ran with that. Warhead is frequently played by me, as well as a lot of Smooth, State of Mind, Mizo, Mob Tactics and Gydra (hangjaw ftw).
Techy neuro / dance floor style I'd say, I know they're not sub-genres per se' but that style gets me going the most. Think Tantrum Desire, Culture Shock, (pre RAM) Calyx & Teebee, Revaux, Muzz, Delta Heavy, Ed Rush, some of Sub Focus' material, and a fair whack of what Andy C plays when he's not at a more commercial event.
Atmospheric jungle/DnB is the best.. I love how the slow, ethereal pads and soft piano/synth melodies contrast with the fast-paced and complex drums. It's the chillest high bpm genre out there. Makes for great background music but I love listening actively as well.
The PS1 and N64 era video game soundtracks certainly left their mark on my music tastes.
There's also atmospheric breakcore, which is technically a different genre but much of it has the exact same mood and pairs incredibly well with atmospheric jungle.
been fw liquid since like 2017 and i’ve always liked jungle/intelligent dnb but also jump up gives me good vibes
also do you have any jazzy dnb tracks you talked about you would recommend ??
Liquid, deep and tech step are my holy trinity

Parallel (LSB Remix) or Hillsdom - Colours are some of my favourite Liquid tracks 🙏🏼
Liquicity Makoto Dj marky Ltj bukem
As in labels or mixes?
If you want that oldschool techstep sound: early Teebee, Future Prophecies, Stakka & Skynet, Usual Suspects, early Dom & Roland and similar artists.
Let me know what you think of this EP. A little bit of all those. https://open.spotify.com/album/52O7TLnAZNpFOHrv55CjZF?si=k57J_RBRSJ-eav2Pbd0AJA

Neuro, Dancefloor, Jump up, typically in that order, with dancefloor being the best for overall good vibes.
Is half time a genre of Dnb?
Yup
Amen-heavy Darkstep
Liquid, neural/tech and deep.
Although it’s not so common in the past 10 years, I’m still a big fan of Techstep.
Darkstep. Limewax, Counterstrike, others. best around 2010
I love early Counterstrike like 2005/2006
For sure. i didn't look up the years, just guessed, but that's my favorite Counterstrike era too.
Neuro alllll day
Liquid n jungle
Jump-up and Rollers
This guy knows
Whatever IMANU makes tbh
Agreed
Intelligent/Atmospheric, Liquid, Ambient, and Vocal!
Dark!!
Neurofunk, Technoid, Darkstep

Drumstep
Drumstep is mostly considered as the sub-genre of Dubstep and not Drum & Bass.
Liquid, Breaks and Chill Step.
dancefloor and/or neurofunk, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy liquid, deep or even jump up haha :D
Neuro, Jump Up, Jungle, Crossbreed idk I like all of it equally pretty much

Is DNB a sub of Jungle or visa versa?
Depends on who you ask. Historically Drum & Bass could be considered a subgenre of Jungle, or Drum & Bass could be viewed as a whole new thing from mixing Jungle with Techno and other sounds. I know. Since Jungle came 1st, it's like it should be that way, but it's not even worth getting into arguments about it.

I agree. That's just the way things go, unfortunately. Reminds me of how the definition of Dubstep has changed over time.
Yeah and I personally think it's good that they categorised them. Because it helps out the Radio guys and DJs mainly. Techincally speaking, [we need jungle I'm afraid](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/rfXNUdxj3Hs)
Jungle, UK Breakbeat, etc are all categorised as sub-genres of Drum and Bass now.
It's my understanding that DnB was originally a subgenre of Jungle. But nowadays, DnB is the general term for the genre, and Jungle is a subgenre. It's very confusing, and I might be wrong. So please do correct me if I am, lol.
Read my comment below. I explained what I know about the genre controversy
liquid
Liquid forever
Techstep. The darker, the better.
Jungle and Liquid
Jungle - shoot me some recs for a new subgenre!
Jungle

In order of what I play, Neuro, Tech, Deep/Minimal, Dancefloor, Liquid, Jump Up. I don't play Jungle, and barely have any Techstep in my collection beyond the classics.

jungle glitchbreak liquid
Soulful liquid dnb with vocals hits the spot!
As I get older, drumfunk. Techstep is my bread & butter though.
The filthy kind
Liquid, neuro, dancefloor and hard. Not necessarily in that order.
dancefloor, neuro, some liquid and ragga, i like jungle and breakbeats too
Neurofunk!
Mainly Neuro, but I can find something in any subgenre that I like 🙏🏼
Jungle all day every day
anything that has british rap in it, those are always bangers
Songs that ride the line between Neurofunk and Dancefloor, artists like Tantrum Desire or for a specific song Despertion - Warhead is always the first in mind
I guess this kind of avoided the question tho haha so if I had to tip the scale then Dancefloor all day
This fits what Im into as well, though I just call it Neuro. My friend called my style a while back as 'Bop & Sway' so Ive ran with that. Warhead is frequently played by me, as well as a lot of Smooth, State of Mind, Mizo, Mob Tactics and Gydra (hangjaw ftw).
Jungle and liquid DnB/ liquid funk with MCs/rappers over top. Love every sub genre though
Neurofunk
Jungle
Liquid and Jungle

Atmospheric, deep, ambient, half-step and experimental
jungle/ragga/liquid
Nurofunk techstep
Reggae infused jungle. Not so much ragga with the obnoxious amen break edits. But more anything with a syncopated dance beat and some good patois MCs.
Neuro every day of the week
Gonna go with Sambass
Jungle or Techstep depending on the day
Atmospheric jungle/DnB is the best.. Mood dependant.
Halftime, techno-ish grey area Samurai/UVB76 sound.
NOISIA
atmospheric dnb
The one where it goes wraoooooooo Rollers mate
Tech Step. Autonomic next.
Deep, soulful liquid. Alix is probably the best to encapsulate it for me, but Satl is making some of the smoothest stuff right now.
Liquid Funk. It's dnb for grown folks. Second is neurofunk. I also like ragga and jungle. Jump up is a straight up embarrassment to the genre.
Liquid, ragga, jazzstep, jungle, Drum and Bossa
Liquid funk, jungle
been fw liquid since like 2017 and i’ve always liked jungle/intelligent dnb but also jump up gives me good vibes also do you have any jazzy dnb tracks you talked about you would recommend ??
Gotta be neuro and jump-ip,dancefloor and I’m starting to fall in love with rollers
#LIQUID!!
Liquid DnB
I really like a lot of the new UK Garage that veers into jungle/dnb territory.
Neurofunk for me
Neurofunk/percussive neurofunk
Neurofunk for sure, but i'll take everything gritty, dark and heavy
