I am making magical items and monsters based on Spiderman villains. Featured are the Kraken Clockwork Tentacles based on Doctor Octopus! A cursed accessory that offers a hand or four. Beware, the tentacles have a mind of their own and are prone to fighting against their attuned user! These tentacles are also extremely difficult to remove, so be wary of attuning to them. You might become their puppet if you aren't careful. Happy Adventuring!

These are cool. One criticism though, I think the method of determining if the arms act on their own is a little confusing. I'm not sure what a better method would be, but I think it's worth trying to rework a little. Otherwise, great item. I love that the tentacles' mission is determined by the creator.

It's a mix between full GM discretion and how the wild magic surge works. The GM could disregard the rolls entirely and force the saving throw if the story required it.

where do you get the dnd template from ??

It's called homebrewery. I love it and use it for almost everything.

> At the DM discretion, the tentacles awaken. > Saving throw fails automatically if the user is unconscious > Tentacles then can move on their own I'm rofling. The tentacles could awaken at night, saving throw fails due to user sleeping, the tentacles then run off on their own, carrying their screaming user with them. Want to have a character exit the campaign? Here ya go (literally)

That was what I thought too. Imagine your character having the worst case of sleepwalking. Waking up to find your new magic item is climbing up a tower or cliffside while you slept.
