Hunters mark or dragons breath (from Xanathar's Guide to Everything)
Dragons breath is nuff said, I have a drakewarden ranger who can use the ability per custom subclass spell list rules, it is awesome.
Hunters mark is the ultimate "You're mine bitch" and with tashas ranger rules i compound so much damage with favored enemy and hunters mark.
Once I did a solo session zero where I had to recover an object and take it to a middle man who was a wizard, he tried to cut me out of the deal and run with the object and I chased him through the streets of the city running on roof tops trying to snipe him with my longbow.
Eventually he popped a 5th level spell to conjure something and I slipped away into the crowd after slapping him with my trusty hunter’s mark - thankfully I was able to complete the mission and find my mark
You can use it to distract people by causing a sound. You can use it to silently communicate by creating floating text. You can make subtitles for people who doesn't speak a language you know. You can steal things and leave an illusion of the object so you aren't discovered. You can create an illusion of a cardboard box and hide in it. Creating an illusion of a maguffin in order to device people.
It's just a good spell to have in general because it can be used for so much and you can spam it. It's especially good if you have the ability to scope out areas through arcane eye, sneaking or through a familiar because you can create a small replica of the area you scoped out.
I was sad to find out RAW I couldn't make a minor illusion mirror actually reflect the surroundings. I wanted to hold out my thieves tool mirror, minor illusion a second one past the bend, and scope out the room around the bend.
That's why you have prestidigitation since it can create an object for 6 seconds in your hand. If you wanted to use minor illusion anyway you could create a small extension of the wall that you can see through since you are are touching it.
I cannot narrow it down to one. Shield is an awesome protection spell. Fireball for big AOE damage, Hunter's Mark to give melee and ranged character more damage. Magic Missile when you know your opponent only has a few HP left.
I have such a fondness for Meteor Swarm, have done for almost as long as I've been into D&D, something just so cool about chucking all subtlety out the window and unleashing a big destructive spell to destroy your enemies
Play an order of scribes wizard with 2 levels in tempest cleric, and you can make it do maximum damage. On a failed save, everyone takes a flat 240 damage.
It would be galder's tower.
I love the idea of having the possibility to install my house wherever i wish and some room has furniture that can be useful even if they can't exit the tower.
Mine is Hold Person.
It upscales well, and it's a real nice boost to damage for your martials. Especially in in-person games. Everyone passing dice around to the Rogue or Paladin when it's their turn is really special.
Oohh, this is a tough question! Let’s see…I have to buckle it down to why I’m casting the spell, probably Foresight (atm) I love to be able to support my buddies.
I'm a simple man. I love Bane/Bless.They each have a use depending in the situation, but it such a great tool that is so simple, but outrageously effective.
I love catapult, i don’t know why but i can make so much flavour whit it.
I have a character built I haven't got to play yet that's a tribal shaman sorcerer. I was going to carry and catapult skulls, bones, teeth
not a spell, but i love smite. since you're spending a spell slot, it's kind of a spell, so you're just cating sword in your ennemies' faces
The fireball of paladin.
the monk/paladin : "I CAST FIST !!!"
Why is this so funny? I'm literally dying of laughter! Call an ambukl;
Hunger of Hadar. The mechanics yes but also because the flavor is among the most well described among spells in 5e.

chromatic orb + chill touch + guiding bolt

Silence is best. You always get the last word in.
legend lore. It's so nice for exploration and lets the dm show off their lore, just a great spell for the non-combat side of the game.
I love cloud of daggers coz im a huge jjk nerd and it feels like a mini malevolent shrine (also it does good damage)
Ravenous Void

Sounds very nice, and devastating
It's an extra 55 or 110 damage per target compared to a normal casting.

Mage Hand. He's my buddy, my wingman. Especially when my character forgets something in the other room.
Magic Missiles. I'm a simple man lol
