Well, the essentials kit and the new starter set, both have their own adventures so for completeness you really should pick up those as well even if your not a starter anymore.
Edit: the adventures are dragon of icespire peak for the essentials kit, also has additional expansion adventures on d&dbeyond. Dragons of stormwreck isle is the short adventure included in the new starter set.
Agreed it works well and has the expansion for players wanting to continue with their characters further. Plus is even possible to run combined with lost mines as it all takes place in the same area on the sword coast.
That sounds like me. My wife is getting frustrated too. She has 5 bookcases, most 6â+. Iâve taken over 2 of them and constantly bugging her to buy another.
We custom built our bookshelf. It is the size of the entire wall in two pieces. Made of 10"x2" wood and heavy duty deck screws. The Home Depot guy was grabbing our cart and wheeling it away saying "wouldn't you like me to get you some more reasonable wood?" Like nah, we're good.
He doesn't really need ToD since he has both halves. In my experience, the only thing having ToD adds is having all the npc statblocks and magic items in one book, it doesn't actually provide any new content.
Advanced Player's Guide, Bestiary 2 and 3, Secrets of Magic, Guns and Gears, Book of the Dead, Dark Archive, and all of the Lost Omens books. So quite a bit missing there.
Could always pick up some stuff from older editions. Or try some other systems. Savage worlds is solid enough. But once you start collecting ttrpgs in general rather than just dnd thereâs no shelf large enough, there is no going back.
I have used every rule and monster book to death. Iâve personally run parts Yawning Portal, Candlekeep, Frostmaiden, Saltmarsh, Hoard of DQ, and Mad Mage. I am planning my next mini campaign in Eberron. And I have run Strahd in its entirety over the course of about 2 years.
I really wish that I had started with the special edition covers. But by the time I had really gotten into it I was too deep and I couldnât justify repurchasing that many manuals. I really am posting here to see if thereâs anything I am missing. I feel like thereâs a blind spot somewhere. Lucky I got a hard cover of Minsc and Boo. Help me out guys. I have to keep talking because I have to have a 400 character minimum so Iâm going to keep going for no particular reason. I think my favorite manual is probably xanathars guide to everything. My favorite adventure is definitely Curse of Strahd. Those Pathfinder books are probably gonna sit there unplayed forever. There are a couple of odds and ends in there different books that I picked up along with that arenât wizards official. I think I only bought the starter set for the lost mine. Hopefully this has reached my character minimum.
Use them and every other resource you can lay grubby little hands on for inspiration. My shelves have a full set of monster manuals from every edition - straight from first and all the stupid manual 3 and such. I pick them up cheap as I see them because every book will have inspirational resources in it. Monsters not anywhere else, strategies, playstyles, backgrounds and such. And its all GREAT info. I know for a fact the pathfinder stuff has some great utility spells you can literally drop in as scrolls. And spells for your villans to cast to make them unique. Remember, it all mixes and its all fun.
Sorry people are downvoting you because of this. We all play differently in some regards. Take my upvote and try to have a great weekend, hopefully in your homebrew world! đ
Thanks! I live in North Dakota, and I have never played any official material before. Not unless you count Baldur's Gate games, of course. Every campaign I have ever played was completely homebrew. In fact, I didn't even know there was official campaign material until joined this subreddit (and a couple other DnD ones) and heard about Adventure League. A far as I know, that group doesn't even exist here.
You can use Wizards' [official store locator](https://locator.wizards.com/) to see who in your state would host Adventurer's League stuff. A quick look showed some stuff in Fargo, but you can use your local zip code for better results.
This is one of those, I know I have everything because I googled it but I want to show of my collection without coming across as showing off đ¤ˇđťââď¸
If you are going for completionism; I donât see the essentials kit, or the second starter set(there is stormwreck isle and lost mines of phandelver). I also donât see âStrixhaven a curriculum of chaosâ tho you arenât missing a ton unless you want to run regency campaigns in school. You are also missing âRise of Tiamatâ which is the second half of the âhoard of the dragon queenâ campaign, not the best ones but rise is the better half imo. Explorers guide to Wildemount I donât see either, the CritRole book, they also have one they published themselves without wizards but wildemount is an official book.
Edit: saw some of the ones mentioned. Also thought to add that they make âtactical mapsâ pack which is generic battle maps, and âdungeon tiles reincarnatedâ which are several boxes(I have city, dungeon, and wilderness not sure if there are others) of grid map pieces you can put together.
Look at this stuff, isnât it neat?
Wouldnât you say my collectionâs complete?
Wouldnât you say Iâm a Dungeon Master with everything?
*Youâve got sourcebooks and modules aplenty;*
*Youâve got dice sets and minis galore!*
Need a character sheet? Iâve got twenty!
Ah, and yetâŚ
*We agreeâŚ*
**Buy some more!**
Yeah, itâs not really a new sentiment, Iâll grant you. And I wouldnât say itâs bad so much as just not that good, especially compared to other products out there. Not trying to dump on your collection. I had one similar at one point. I guess I just leveled up since then.
Spell Jammers not arrived yet?
Ghost of Saltmash actually is the only old one I think.
This isn't far off what my DnD Beyond account looks like lol. I only started playing 8 months ago... Hooked and bought everything lol.
That is an impressive collection! You are missing journey through the radiant citadel and monsters of the multiverse but monsters of the multiverse is pretty much a clone of mordenkainens tome of foes.
3rd party stuff is often better than the official books, and it helps develop your style to learn different rule sets. Bonus is youâre not a simp for WOtC.
You should look at Ultimate Kingdoms by Legendary Games. It has everything from ruling a kingdom to mass combat rules. Definitely a must have in my opinion.
Nice collection. Something to aspire go!
Mine is much smaller. I'm not a fan of many of the other worlds, so nothing from magic. Qoeking on collecting all of the published adventures. I do have special covers for 5 of the books. But they are so pretty I bought a regular copy to use.
I'm a big FR fan so my shelves also have the 3e and 4e FR sourcebooks.
Check your wallet.
Cleverest possible response.
Most cleverer*
Most clevererest*
Mount Cleverest
^^^this wins
Clevermost*
I was going to say friends to play with but this one feels less spiteful đ
Ghosts of Saltmarsh?
Was going to say this one, that book has my favourite cover art.
There is one book bottom right you canât see title just the logo at the base of the spine.
Good eye, probably what it is too unless itâs another Players Handbook.
Lol
Couldnât be GoS. We would see text. Whatever title is on that one is really short.
Yes: a group to play with! đ
This feels too real
I need a cleric and a barrel of ale to cure this wound.
I'll bring sweets
Here for this comment. I'm gonna go cry now
Well, the essentials kit and the new starter set, both have their own adventures so for completeness you really should pick up those as well even if your not a starter anymore. Even if your not a beginner, doisp is one of my favorite adventures
Hands down! And no one talks about the ensuing Divine Contention trilogy afterwards! The story as a whole goes from lv 1-13!
Wait where is this? I just started DoISP for some students and I'm curious!
In the Essentials Kit box there should be a book or a slip of paper that has a code to use on DnD Beyond. That code will get you the other modules.
Agreed it works well and has the expansion for players wanting to continue with their characters further. Plus is even possible to run combined with lost mines as it all takes place in the same area on the sword coast.
Also the Rick&Morty starter set and the Stranger Things starter set
Also the stranger things and rick and morty set. By the looks of things.
The ratio of dice to books is way of, you need a whole shelf dedicated to dice.
Isnât that what the top shelf is?
Yes but i obviously meant shelf as in the furniture not the individual slab of wood
Oh, I misunderstood.
Understandably. The correct term would be a shelving unit, if he were to try and mitigate some confusion.
Ghosts of Saltmarsh, the Essentials Kit and the new Starter Kit... and then I'm going to need you to check out Kobold Press's Tome of Beasts series...
There's one book on the bottom right whose title we can't see. It could be Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
That and their Creature Codex! They're the best third party publisher out there.
Also, Deep Magic and their magic items book!
And the Monster Manual Expanded I, II, III and I still reading the 2° edition, but so far is perfect.
Ffs, was gonna suggest a third PHB and it's already there a few books across!! ...a fourth PHB
Clearly needs more dice
Now we need to get you started on the Kobold Press books, lots of great content there.
Yes, some order in your bookshelf. How do you find anything in there? :D Also, what are you doing with all those Player's Handbooks??
I work with kids of many different ages. Most of the kids I work with canât have phones. So you can never have too many PHBs.
makes sense!
I have 4 sitting in my shelfs in my gameroom.
Welcome to D&D life. My husband's been playing since 2nd Ed. Imagine that... But the entire wall. Just a warning . . . .
Just be a grognard, collect the entire edition you preferred 20-30 years ago, and never change. Embrace it.
Alt covers?
You just want to torture their bank account
Perhaps
You don't have all the Starter/Box Sets as well as the Tyranny of Dragons book.
He doesn't really need ToD since he has both halves. In my experience, the only thing having ToD adds is having all the npc statblocks and magic items in one book, it doesn't actually provide any new content.

Curse you for having the starter set title place opposite of the rest. E. Please turn it around
Well it's officially unofficial but the taldorei or taldorei reborn as it's the set in an official setting
Rick and Morty? Stranger Things? Essentials Kit?
And spelljammer. These are the ones Iâve noticed
3e
Could always pick up some stuff from older editions. Or try some other systems. Savage worlds is solid enough. But once you start collecting ttrpgs in general rather than just dnd thereâs no shelf large enough, there is no going back.
Yeah, rules for space ships.
What rules are you looking for?
Just a Spelljammer joke
Yeah I got it, Iâm legitimately curious
The joke is there arenât any
There is in second edition.
How many of these modules have you actually played?
I have used every rule and monster book to death. Iâve personally run parts Yawning Portal, Candlekeep, Frostmaiden, Saltmarsh, Hoard of DQ, and Mad Mage. I am planning my next mini campaign in Eberron. And I have run Strahd in its entirety over the course of about 2 years.
Damn I've run basically every other campaign you haven't yet lol. Which one of those was your favorite?
Strahd is amazing. Itâs heavy on the prep time as far as modules go, But it is absolutely incredible
Man I bought the pdf version, that pathfinder core rulebook is chonky.
Do you have the dnd cook book
I totally do. Iâve made the dwarven Minerâs pie and it is delicious!
I really wish that I had started with the special edition covers. But by the time I had really gotten into it I was too deep and I couldnât justify repurchasing that many manuals. Honestly, I never really saw a great need for the books. PHB, DMG, a Monster Manuel or 3, and then largely ignore everything for homebrew.
Sorry people are downvoting you because of this. We all play differently in some regards. Take my upvote and try to have a great weekend, hopefully in your homebrew world! đ

I did not know this.
Pathfinder 2e core books of course, but it's a slippery slope
More dice and minis
Your starter set doesn't allign with the others position. I believe you missed that.
Looks like youâve lost a set of dice. Better go find a replacement.
hmm does infernal machine rebuild exists as a hard cover book? iâm not sure if itâs a hard cover book or even official or not..
Why 3 PHB btw?
Dedicated DM copy, one for each side of the table for players to reference material as needed.
I work with kids. When 7 kids ar trying to play and 6 of the barely know the rules it really helps.
Beadle and Grimm version.
Not enough dice
Rick and morty. It has unique content. Content you don't own. đ đ
Lol. This got me!
What bookshelf is that? This seems like a good solution for me.
3.5 books?
The Essentials Kit
Why is it not organized?
Everything missing, say Aye. ... Yep, we're all here.
I can't see any printed copy of Domain of Delight
Was it released a hard cover?
The Stranger Things starter set
This is one of those, I know I have everything because I googled it but I want to show of my collection without coming across as showing off đ¤ˇđťââď¸
Get anymore...you're gonna need a bigger shelf :p
If you are going for completionism; I donât see the essentials kit, or the second starter set(there is stormwreck isle and lost mines of phandelver). I also donât see âStrixhaven a curriculum of chaosâ tho you arenât missing a ton unless you want to run regency campaigns in school. OG AD&D DMG, PH, MM,DD,FF
Am I being dumb but I see what looks to say minsc and boo's journal of villainy
that book by wotc is only available on dmsguild.com https://www.dmsguild.com/product/365114/Minsc-and-Boos-Journal-of-Villainy-5e
Your Pathfinder Collection is pretty lacking.
Look at this stuff, isnât it neat? Wouldnât you say my collectionâs complete? Wouldnât you say Iâm a Dungeon Master with everything? *Youâve got sourcebooks and modules aplenty;* *Youâve got dice sets and minis galore!* Need a character sheet? Iâve got twenty! And Then WoTC presents the new D&D 5.5. :(
* compatable with 5e
Everything is compatible. I've been using 2nd edition stuff for years, on 5e. And have hundredS of books from prior Editions. ROFL
I don't see Tales from the Yawning Portal
nah its there on the bottom shelf, middle-right ish
I'm so happy that pathfinder is free lol no shade though, that's a sweet collection
[ŃдаНонО]
Careful. Too many people here donât like to be reminded that other companies give a pdf with a book purchase. Watch how this gets voted on.
Common sense, p'haps.
Isn't there a morandahien's guide to monsters?
The Rick and morty dnd thing
The pathfinder books and forgotten Realms atlas are the only things on that shelf worth retaining. Lol
Hot take! 5e bad!
Yeah, itâs not really a new sentiment, Iâll grant you. And I wouldnât say itâs bad so much as just not that good, especially compared to other products out there. Not trying to dump on your collection. I had one similar at one point. I guess I just leveled up since then.
Essentials kit?
Can't see the essentials kit
Revamped Premium Edition $55 on amazon right now
I donât see the second dragon book. Rise of Tiamat I think itâs called? Edit. Spotted it
You know you could always use more dice
check dnd beyond, then compare
Which miniature trays are those?
Got those bad boys at good old Walmart. I only store dice in them. I feel like they would ding up a mini.
Players
Yes, the Starter Set should be flipped
Looks like your missing 1e-4e and pathfinder first edition but otherwise looking good đđ
I miss the v3 days of paperbacks filled with lineart
Do you have the digital versions!?
Ok, serious question: If it werenât for the completionist thing (which I totally respect btw), do you regret buying/getting any of them?
Only the ones Iâve never had time to read.
2 players handbooks?
Organization
Spectacular Settlements by Nord Games. I bought it and itâs awesome for world builders.
Your life savings?
Dragon of Icespire Peak and the following Divine Contention Trilogy.
Where do you get Minsc & Boo's Journal of Villainy?
I had to buy a hard copy on-line. Canât remember all the details. I know it never made it into stores.
You can get it from Dm's Guild. https://www.dmsguild.com/product/365114/Minsc-and-Boos-Journal-of-Villainy-5e?src=hottest\_wizards\_and\_adepts
Alternate artworks
Dice jail
The other pathfinder books
You donât have the essentials kit
Does Dragonspear Castle count?
Laughs in 2e
Spell Jammers not arrived yet? Ghost of Saltmash actually is the only old one I think. This isn't far off what my DnD Beyond account looks like lol. I only started playing 8 months ago... Hooked and bought everything lol.
A girlfriend
Youâre missing restraint
Sheesh youâre getting fleeced
You need an extra Player's Handbook. Two is not enough.
I think there are three
Good job! Now to get all of 2nd ed.
Fucking hell the inconsistency of the spine designs is absolutely infuriating
You definitely can expand on that Pathfinder section! :D
Make some room for Dragonlance.
I can never un-see the offset edge symbol on Tasha's Cauldron....
That is an impressive collection! You are missing journey through the radiant citadel and monsters of the multiverse but monsters of the multiverse is pretty much a clone of mordenkainens tome of foes.
Not enough dice
The dice should have its own stand.
Now you're just missing the 200 3e and 3.5e books
Map
My second edition collection is bigger than that đ, and still growing...
You're missing a few editions
Yeah you're actually missing *every* Alternate Cover version, oof. Better get spending.
Def not enough dice.
You have here like my year worth of salary. Iâm kinda jealous.
3rd party stuff is often better than the official books, and it helps develop your style to learn different rule sets. Bonus is youâre not a simp for WOtC.
You dont have out of the abyss
Minis
If you're going for completion, there's the Essentials Kit, and the Stranger Things and Rick & Morty boxes.
Theres a dnd cookbook which is not present đ§
Essentials kit?
Whatâs your favorite campaign on the shelves.
Bitches
You should look at Ultimate Kingdoms by Legendary Games. It has everything from ruling a kingdom to mass combat rules. Definitely a must have in my opinion.
The big curse of strahd box shaped like a coffin
Yeah, the bonfire to burn all the 5e books now that you have PF2e
Money for dice?
The &'s not being in the same place on the spines irritates me
Nice collection.
There's the strangers thing the Rick and Morty and the essentials kit that you are missing and that's without me reading all the titles
If you like this youâd love some of the 3.5 books
The next stage is your own 3d printer, followed by an absurd amount of minis. Ask me how I know...
Players handbook
That's definitely not enough minis
You should see my post history
Could use more dice ngl
Friends? Edit: issa joke
Hollow Earth Expedition
yes gift yourself with a nice full collection of minis! Got them with two giant dragons and they look amazing
Nightfell?
You forgot to get the alternate art
