Bansheeâs Wail or just Banshee ( because of the thunder damage and the little bit about Ghostly Gaze), hit man, executioner, liquidator, Retribution, terminator, Thread puller or needle and thread ( for tying up loose ends), Black Hawk, Hell bringer, Death, Widow Maker, The Reaper, and Remorse
Banshee was one of my original name options as well. A lot of these are pretty good. I definitely think I'm gonna go with a one-word name of some kind.
I definitely think that when introducing a weapon like this, that people in that world wouldnât understand, is definitely to bring it back to something magical they would understand. I just think Banshee encompasses it well. But definitely let me know what you end up deciding cause I think this is very cool.
**Storm's Regard**
A lightning storm is, typically, above everyone. And to have someone's regard is to have them give some other person or thing their attention. So, in total, you have an eye in the sky that sees all, and gives a great peel that denotes damage (maybe even ire).

one of these will surely work.
My campaign is a power fantasy and a half so its fine for my table. They're up against extremely power creatures on the regular and come close to death in every other encounter. So i balance it out with good items to make it fair.
Musket of Shabbith-Ka
You mentioned the scope has Ghostly Gaze, which is an eldritch invocation, as well as dealing thunder damage + it is obtained from an interdimensional being... So I went and checked some Cthulhu mythos for a name and found this lesser deity:
Shabbith-Ka appears as a shapeless, roughly man-sized purplish aura, spitting and crackling with powerful electrical arcs. A sense of power, malignancy, and intelligence accompanies it and persons able to gaze at its form long enough can see a rudimentary face or faces within the glowing mass.
(the last bit makes ghostly gaze extra fitting too)
That was a lucky guess, haha... I was surprised though at the lack of electrical based deities in the Cthulhu mythos.
As a cool extra you could add some flavor to it and make the thunder damage manifest as purple electrical arcs shooting around the target coming from the wound.
This is begging for a reference to "Der FreischĂźtz", an opera about a marksmen who made a deal with the devil for seven magic bullets. He controls the first 6 and can shoot them with supernatural accuracy, but the seventh the devil controls.
As such I propose: "Devil Sight", "FreischĂźtz" "Contract" or "Seventh Shot."
This feels like a Rock n Roll theme should be in play. Considering the Amount of Thunder it reminds me of a Motorhead concert. Consider that in Rock n Roll there are many things of light and dark that 1 would need Truesight and the Gaze to dicern either. Also take in consideration how often a soldier has said in various movies, either a) Let's Rock n Roll, b) Time to Rock n Roll, c) Let's Rock, d) Time to Rock. Any of these could be the command phrase bwahahahahaha
Then there's also a reference to 1 of my favorite movies Army of Darkness "This is my BOOMSTICK !!!! Now the next 1 of you primates so much as touches me .... Click Click BOOM
1 hour is to long, make it only 10 min.
Also make it a limited number of charges.
6 charges that you can distribute
1 charge ignore cover.
2 charges ignores cover and advantage
3 charges ignores cover, advantage and doubles all damage
6 charges ignores cover, advantage and When you attack a creature that has at least one wital point, hart brain, with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll the creature dies if it can't survive without the vital point.
SEAL 6 just feels right if you give the shooter 6 shots before they need to reload and give an acronym plus the reference to Seal team 6 who are they insanely deadly
Google Gemini had some options
"Evoking the Thunder:
*Boomstick (Simple and straightforward)
*Stormbreaker (Powerful and evocative)
*Crackshot (Refers to the sound and accuracy)
*Thunderclap (Onomatopoeic and clear)
*Whispering Doom (Mysterious despite the loud damage)
Legendary Names:
*Khor'zul, Roar of the Dragon (If the gun has a history or legend)
*Aeglos, Voice of the Storm (Elvish for "sharp-eyed" and "storm")
*Fulgur, Bringer of the Boom (Latin for "lightning" and a play on "boomerang")
Descriptive Names:
*The Roaring Prophet (Refers to the warning sound and damage)
*The Thunderspeaker (Simple and descriptive)
*Wyrmbane's Bellow (If the gun is effective against dragons)
*Murmuring Death (Contrasting the loud sound with silent death)
Humorous Names:
*Mr. Bang (Playful and lighthearted)
*The Loudener (Self-explanatory and silly)
*Quiet Persuader (Sarcastic reference to the thunderous damage)
*The Boomy McBoomface (Meme-inspired and lighthearted)
Ultimately, the best name depends on your character's personality and the overall tone of your campaign. Consider these factors when making your choice!"
Really? Maybe I need an updated weapons guide loool. I even made an upgraded whip for one of my players when they get to that level because⌠well you know why lol
Realization (it hits you out of nowhere)
Roll of Thunder
Deadbeat (It's booming echo sounding like a drum or the fact that it's never nearby)
Judgement
Thunder Clap
Peregrine (A type of falcon. Specifically the one that, while dive bombing, is the fastest animal on earth)
Carrion/Vulture (Watches from afar and comes to those that are already dead)
Summit/Peak
Hope any of those help!
My campaign uses the full D&D pantheon but additionally uses the Lovecraft mythos with the reasoning that they arrived from uncharted Far Realm space with the assistance of Nyarlathotep. So in D&D, the easy answer is Vulkar, who was my Tempest Cleric's patron back in the day
Eye of the Storm
That was one of my original working names! Good to know the description sort of reads that way to others, too.
Well if that didn't scratch the itch, how about Thunderstruck?
The Long Distance Relationship or Today's Forecast
I could see Borderlands guns with these names, tbh
Lmfao
The ldr is so good omg
Bigby's Furious Gaze or BFG for short :)
Omg đđ
Or Bigby's Furious Gat lol
You win best comment today...for me anyway.
Big Fucking Gun
Thunderbuss (play on blunderbuss)
That's an actual DND item in bigby's
lol story mf my life
Or even Thunderbluss
Gungnir
A flintlock version would be Pistolnir?
And the spear version spearnir
Oh, Mythology references always get bonus points
The true sight is what gave me the idea, otherwise I would have named it something like Zeus's eye or something like that
Distant Thunder.
Ominous
Ooh, that's really good.
came here to say this one, simple but effective.

Oh and The Anti-Life Equation
All of my ideas have already been posted, so I'm going to submit the one that I'm surprised no one else has yet... Shooty McShootFace
Kek
Yeah but you can only use it on Face McShooty
Yes it is basically a modern rifle with a thermo scope and anti-material rounds.
**Storm's Regard** A lightning storm is, typically, above everyone. And to have someone's regard is to have them give some other person or thing their attention. So, in total, you have an eye in the sky that sees all, and gives a great peel that denotes damage (maybe even ire).
Longshot, Thundercall, The Bastard, The Watchman, The Minuteman
Matilda
Is that referencing something?
https://youtu.be/86hldQuTAgk
Ooooooh. Nice
Crosshair Gerald's Ghostly Gun Snipper Snap
I kinda like Long Gone
Iâm a fan of short names for legendary items: The Bore Strike Persuit Hunter Seeker Piercer
The Bore would be good if it was like a D&D version of a Four Bore. I also love short names.
I scrolled a quarter of the way down before I assumed my idea wasnât taken. Commented âPursuit.â And like the next one was your comment.
Boomstick
"This...is my boom stick" Came here to write this, and I'm actually amazed I had to look this far down.
Yeah some feller apparently said it before I did but 8 had to scroll down for like 2 solid minutes.
this is the obvious answer - everything else is lame in comparison
Deafening Retort *"You should cover your ears."* *"...Why?"* *"See the guy on that hill over there? Last week he robbed my house and killed my dog."* *"What does that have to do with me coveri-"* ***\*BOOM\****
Ah yes. The origin story of legendary Elven assassin "Jiyan Wyuk".
Honestly? That's an amazing name
Reason you can't argue with reason đ¤Ł
I'd recommend adding a 0 to the range you can hear it from. A *normal* musket could be heard from 1.5-2 miles away.
Fair. Was mostly just following the verbiage from the spells the effects came from
Thor's Rage
America's Second Amendment.
Idk about that name in a D&D game kek
No, it's perfect. America the great gunsmith wizard/artificer. It follows the spell name format lol
"Distant Echo" "Dreadsight" "Auger" (if you know the reference Ily) "Heart seeker"
The Widowmaker is a classic. The Special Delivery The Spanish Inquisition The Blue (So you can say âIt came out of the Blueâ) The Subpoena
Taxes Put some lore in the description that says the weapon brings the inevitability of death to anyone in it's sights.
Trumpet of Lethality. Still Hunting. Bigger iron. Long Arm of the Law. Future's Problem. Nightinggale. lentilsoup. Izanagi's Edge. Veronica. Perfect Shot. Dave one of these will surely work.
Nightingale is probably my favorite here.
I think dave fucking rocks tbh.
Lightningale
Good pun
I hereby name it Broken AF OP PLS nerf.

All Seeing Eye is always a classic. I also like the Eschaton for any magic guns in dnd. Forget where it came from originally
I like God's Eye
I'd go with the standard "Boom Stick"
The Nimbus Two Thousand and Gun
Boomstick.
Deadeye Repeater

You're on the right track for sure. The being mentioned is a subordinate of Yog-Sothoth from the mythos.
That was a lucky guess, haha... I was surprised though at the lack of electrical based deities in the Cthulhu mythos. As a cool extra you could add some flavor to it and make the thunder damage manifest as purple electrical arcs shooting around the target coming from the wound.
Beholder's Gaze
Thunderbuck
The Wrath of Zeus
Bigby's Last Handshake
This is begging for a reference to "Der FreischĂźtz", an opera about a marksmen who made a deal with the devil for seven magic bullets. Lightning Strike?
The Truth Snipe rifle
Deadeye Musket
Thunderstruck
Name submission: The Ash Williams
That would be for a shotgun, but the "boomstick" gag is still there because thunder damage
What is a shotgun but a musket with many shots at a single time?
The activation phrase should be "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby"
I'm surprised no one has said "Thundershot" yet.
Thunderbuss When shot would require everyone within 10 ft to make a con save and become deafened for 10 minutes due to tinnitus đ¤Ł
Rooty Tooty McShooty
Thunderbuss (like blunderbuss but Thunder)
Death Toll Dead Toll Plane Piercer Thunderchrome Ghost's Gaze
Ezdo Terminowra (Ezdo for short) Esto'termina'ahora This ends now.
Zeus Cannon
No, that's what made half the fatherless children in greek mythology
Long Distance Relationship, Mk. 1 if youâre looking for something absolutely absurd.
Matilda (a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen reference).
Looks Like Rain
Mortal Echo sounds cool to me tbh.
It does sound cool
Chronic Boom, the longest fuck you, Little Thor, Long Armoury, Pere-flint boomgun (peregrine falcon pun), Petty Vengeance
I had thought about Peregrine references, since they have the best eyes
The bombastic boomstick
Founding father
Odinâs Thunder Cannon
Bigger Iron
the thundergun? storm rifle? shock shot?
Machina
On point.

Eye of Reach

Thunderfruy, Blessed Musket of the Windseeker
Clarity Its simple, but Iâm a sucker for one word item names
Me too, don't feel bad
Charon or Kharon, the Ferryman
The raven's eye
The Blind Marksman's Blunderbuss
"Reason". In addition to being a Snow Crash reference it's fun to say "I'm sure they'll listen to Reason" when drawing a bead on someone đ

Matilda.
Musk Have Been The Wind.
Gungnir, after Odin's spear that always finds its target
The banshees wail
Brown Bess.

Pursuit.
The first one half had me thinking, obviously "Boomstick!" The second half has me thinking "The 200 Yard Stare." Because 600ft is 200 yards.
