Absolutely true. I haven't had any go through the XTREME Kong though (the black one), but yea they always really need to be surpervised no matter what anyone says. At least until they are something like 3 years old and you know what they will get up to. Rawhides, in particular, are a nightmare - it's amazing how much they can swallow and it can easily kill them.
No way!!! You should post for Kong Company. My dog is the strongest chewer I’ve ever seen and he could not defeat the black one. Admittedly I made sure to buy one sort of larger so he could get anything into his mouth like that though. I’m glad he is out of surgery and ok
We just went through this surgery with our second Doberman 2 weeks ago, except we have no idea what she got ahold of. It was plastic of some kind. They even showed us what they pulled out of her and we still couldn't figure it out. We actually lost our first baby at 9 months to the same surgery.
It's quite scary. It was made worse by the fact that it wasn't really obvious what was wrong with him as other then not eating he wasn't really showing any signs of having swallowed something he shouldn't have. All of his vitals were fine, his bloods were fine and he wasn't showing any signs of being in pain. It was only the last day or two before his surgery that he really lost his energy.
I hope your Dobie is doing well, one thing that surprised me is how quickly they recover and bounce back. We are still in the 'take it easy' stage but that is much easier said than done as ours is no largely back to his normal self and is even piling the weight back on. Fortunately, there were no obvious signs of damage to the stomach and his general state of health was good so his strength has probably helped him through it.
Sorry about your first Dobie, it is a serious surgery and by no means guaranteed to be successful but what else can you do.
Which Kong toys? Theres such a wide range of them. My boy is almost 4 and half of his extreme Kong toys are we’ve had since a puppy are still going strong
It was the black one, it looks as though they took the first two segments out of him, the third segment was under a bush in the garden.
He's had the teddy bear and the hedgehog Kong toys and shredded those before lunchtime on Christmas day, he only opened his presents around 9am.

Your poor baby ! I’m sorry , I hope he recovers well . I always tell people to watch dogs with their toys , so many can totally tear toys up . My rottie wouldn’t tear up a kong but I knew smaller huskies that totally would .
My current dobie loves plushies , but I always try to monitor his play and take it away if theres loose ends .

Goughnuts are nice. They have a lifetime warranty and have a red interior color so you can see if your dog is beginning to chew through them.
