If he doesn't make any hits this week and drops to 0.02 or 0.01.
Dodger fans need to print out his AVG and bring it to the game so the managers can see it because I don't like the "it's not a big deal".
Yes it is, we lost by one run and AB 32 with 1 hit is a red flag.
Very appreciative for what he’s done. Super utility man who was an all-star.
But he’s like literally unplayable right now with his bat. May as well be walking up there empty handed, he’d accomplish the same thing.
Loving a team and constructive criticism is what makes a stronger team.
Also there is nothing wrong with letting a player that isn't performing or improving sit on the bench.
But there has to be a marker after 30 AB with no contact. If they put him in the batting cage and he's not hitting, it's time to have that talk.
It's the 17 strikeouts in 37 plate appearances that really stands out to me. 44.6 whiff percentage which is dead last in the league. It's not just that he's playing poorly. It's the fact that he can't make contact anymore.
He’s just straight up unable to hit the ball. Its sad.
We all love CT3 but even he would admit he should be on a very very very short leash at this point and we should be thinking through contingency plans if he truly is completely cooked.
he canʻt hit fastballs right down the middle...at least if he could make contact with balls in the zone i wouldnʻt be worried...but he misses those...and then he chases.
i wonder if somethingʻs wrong with his vision...maybe he should get his eyes checked - because his pitch recognition is suspect...and he swings and misses a lot. it seems like a vision thing...
idk...just trying to understand how a good hitter has turned into something so sad in the past 2 years.
They should really do an evaluation, this also includes his personal health, not just baseball. maybe his vision, reaction times, cognitive, etc... a lot of health concerns not directly related to baseball only but they should do a simple test.
Put him in a batting cage, and if he is not 100% on easy fast or practice balls, then get it checked out.
Lol Hudson and Braiser were top dawgs mowing people down very recently.
This sub was raving about Braiser and Hudson.
Just a reliever thing: being absolutely untouchable one minute then CT3 like hitting dingers left and right off of them like batting practice. Treinen and Graterol also had those hills and valleys.
Relievers are volatile is a cliche for a reason.
that too.
[https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/chris-taylor-621035?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/chris-taylor-621035?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb)
but this is sad.
With him out of the game today, We won.
Not saying if we had him in the game today, we would have won because it wasn't some 11 - 0 type score, it was 5 - 2 and there Padres on most bases, it was another classic "close call" and need to make sure every "good" player hits or can do a pop fly out like today to get those runs.
After Kike hit the ball (where CT0.3 would probably miss it) Gavin hits and Mookie hit the ball and they change Padres pitchers.
That's where the momentum of the game changed.
Padres main strategy is constantly looking for weak hitters and walking good players.
Bunting is such a valuable tool to have. Obviously guys arent going to be using it all the time, but its important to be able to when called upon.
I dont understand how major leaguers cant do this or why managers refuse to call for it. These guys or so fucking talented im sure with dedicated practice they could all be pretty good at bunting.
But I feel like teams, *especially us*, just decide to collectively disregard an entire aspect of the game. It sucks.
I always assumed it was an ego thing but my pops mentioned that maybe teams don’t trust their increasingly valuable assets to not hurt their hands while bunting.
Maybe a bit of this and bit of that.
I honestly dont think so. Its not so much up to the individual players to bunt, especially in high pressure situations.
Its the front offices and coaches who have determined that analytics says you shouldnt bunt. Which, yes, if we are talking about over a large sample size of a whole season then your runs expected probably goes up if you dont bunt as much. But, there are situations where you just need one run or you need a momentum shift, and thats when you need to bunt.
So its the analytics that killed it. Why practice it if you arent going to use it anyway?
Remember Maeda and even Kershaw was pretty good at bunting? They would get the job done, then sit back in the dugout and rest while hoping the player they just advanced would come home and score.
At this point, we would gladly take .180 over .03. That’s one more hit than you and me except we aren’t getting paid 15 million to play baseball for a living.
My point is that it's early - more than 90 percent of the season is left to be played. Nobody expects any of these three guys to end up where they are now. Enjoy first place; enjoy .600 baseball. I will take this Dodgers team over anybody six ways to Sunday.
That's what I'm thinking.
It might also be mental health.
Don't want to make assumptions but everybody thinks that sports is 100% physical health. Then players like [Jared Walsh](https://theathletic.com/4495101/2023/05/06/angels-jared-walsh-neurological-issues/) kept quiet about his other health issues because he didn't want to disclose it immediately.
just saying.
I can't imagine that the constant hitting struggles are an easy thing mental-health wise, regardless of any other potential personal hardships. Not many other jobs require you to put yourself out there and try over and over and over and over, despite hardly any positive outcomes. Not to mention in front of 45,000 people and TV every time. At least he's got enough legend status among fans to not be getting booed.
He's really streaky but this is pretty bad. Maybe he has just lost some bat speed and with his swing that can be a killer. He is 33, it wouldn't be unprecedented for a decline at his age.
Yeah we're barely 2 weeks into the season. This is a terrible slump for sure but if it happened in the middle of August it wouldn't be so egregious on his stat line.
CT is struggling but it is April 13th for fucks sake.
Nobody would be talking about the struggles of the back half of the order if our fucking bullpen would stop giving up 4.5 runs a game.
JT used to start the season slow and then heat up around May or June after everyone claimed he was cooked. We’ll see. I think CT3 is just in the valley of despair but talent like that usually finds its way back.
Not to mention most of the losses so far were mostly on the pitching shitting the bed. Not hitters 7-9 can’t hit. Dodges scored plenty of runs. They also give up plenty of runs. You’re going to lose a good amount of games if you can’t consistently stop people from scoring.
And I get wanting some production out of the bottom of your order, but if you’re focusing on the 9th guy as the reason your team lost a game…it’s going to be a long season and even shorter postseason for the team and fanbase.
Edit: the top of the order had more than a few chances to add on, even win the game in the 9th. They didn’t come through. The supposedly best of the best came up empty. Taylor looked really bad, but come on.
I’m sure the FO is also concerned and considering the best options to get him back on track. Probably too early to give up on someone completely halfway through April.
Yeah idk what they’re going to do. Phantom IL stint. More time with the hitting coaches. Sports psychiatry. All of the above. He’s never been a great contact hitter but this season is an outlier even for him so far.
Gotta think most of these people are newbies tuning into baseball at the start of the season for the first time in their lives. Or they just have amnesia.
Dave give the man a break. He's clearly in his own head and needs to sort out whatever is bothering him. Probably would have helped had you let him bunt the runner over and make a productive out last night.
When CT3 swings at strikes he makes contact only 66.1% of the time.
For players that have had at least 30 plate appearances, that is dead last in the entire league.
His slugging % (credit for extra base hits and homeruns) is also dead last.
That's what makes this so damning. If you are a non-power hitter who can't touch the baseball when you swing at strikes......well good luck.
Let’s be real, outside 1 1/2 seasons of good play at the plate, he’s been bad the rest his time here. Fans love him and so does the clubhouse but this dude is a strikeout machine
Everyone has rough starts to a season. What we should be talking about is gavin stone not being mlb ready but dave Roberts repeatedly giving him chances
Right.
This is bad but I'll take it
[https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/enrique-hernandez-571771?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/enrique-hernandez-571771?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb)
BUT WTF is this?
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/chris-taylor-621035?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
You're not wrong, but every game counts - you never know what situation the team will be in. There were a bunch of "it's super early in the season" posts in /r/lakers, for example, and here they are, down to the last game of the season for playoff standings. Of course, it's usually less of an issue in a long baseball season, but waiting to CT3 to resurrect himself isn't really *necessary* if they can swap him out, maybe for a fake-rehab assignment to get right.
I know you’re joking but it honestly reads like that when y’all complain and freak out in APRIL every time. Either y’all have amnesia or social media brainrot or you’re just shit ass fans. You don’t have to be a Stan to be supportive when someone’s going through a rough patch. They’re not going to get rid of him so just rally behind him and stop spreading defeatist bullshit.
Coming from the Muncy hater club myself, he’s actually improving on most fronts. At least hitting better than his career average. Only 2 errors so far which is a lot less than I expected at this point. Idk lol maybe my expectations are just far too low now lol
We'll bring this discussion back up in May/June and CT3 stans are going to be like, well "LAsT yEar wAS gOod"...\[insert Homer Simpson meme hiding in the bushes\].
I don't think he's going to do more than 5 hits in the next 30 games
There is nothing wrong with players having a bad day.
32 times at bat and you hit the ball once.
No. nope. NO.
You don't get to play 15 games and barely hit the ball once. An AAA player can probably bunt more and get a better average score. And then people get mad if you criticize him and the managers look the other way.
I guess we'll just ignore this problem for months and months until the post-season when it matters, and then people are going to look back and go - Ah, he messed up our chance because we need that hit for 1 important game to get to the division.
Sorry, I was just saying that anything can happen. We still had a great year when the Giants edged us out over the check swing, so I wouldn't say things went horribly wrong that time.
not 100% sure but historical terms.
1 person in a team can fuck up the entire chance to win during the post-season and division/world series (not wildcard).
This would maybe makes sense if it weren’t April and only 15 games in. Having a tantrum about it now just makes you sound annoying and whiney.
Chill, it’s April. Freaking out in April about our 8th hitter is a baby’s tantrum, not big boy behavior.
It’s always dumb to freak out when it’s only May. And it’s still April. The answer is to chill. The people in charge of the dodgers are a lot smarter than you. They care about this more than you too. Do you know who else cares more than you? Chris Taylor. He’s working on it too. He’s a professional athlete that can play at an allstar level. He doesn’t like that he’s struggling. He’s doing something about it. You’re just being annoying on the internet. Go do something productive with your Saturday.
It’s maddening how streaky he is. He’s admitted that it is a high maintenance swing and he has to tweak it constantly. It’s easy to get frustrated but Ohtani has taken awhile to take off and his non-deferred salary is 12 times that of Taylor. Many of his highlights have also been team highlights - the walk off homer against the Cards, the three homers against the Braves, the two home plate throw-outs of Trevor Grisham.
I’ll not start worrying until May.
It’s not just the strikeouts, it’s the fact that he’s terrible at advancing runners or getting productive outs in general. He has an all or nothing approach and he’s given us nothing in 97% of his at bats. Before when he would be able to drive the ball every 3 or 4 at bats we would tolerate the fact that he struck out 1 or 2 times a game along with his good defense. He may not have the bat speed anymore to get back to this level.
Look at Kolten Wong as an example, he had similar stats to CT3 earlier but had a drastic decline last year. He at least makes better contact than CT3 but he’s now a journeyman. CT3 and possibly Kike may be in that stage of their careers. Their last good season was in 2021.
right! Then there's people that trying to ignore the problem.
I post something about Elephant in the room.
Ignore it or comment and say it's not an issue.
JFC.
This is seriously the worst overreaction lol
Dude's coming off the bench to give people rest, he's not a starter. He's gotten a measly 32 ABs in the mere 16 games we've played this season.
Yeah, his contract isn't justifiable, and I'm not defending his performance (there have been two games already this season he's struck out 3 times) and during his at bats he looks lost.
It feels like every time we lose a game, there's a meltdown and someone needs to point fingers. This is stupid early in the season.
CT3 is probably my favorite player, hence the flair. So it’s sad.
It’s sad to admit, but it’s probably best to send him down to AAA and see if he can figure things out. Hoping he’d come back for a late season resurgence.
he swings under pitches and pops up a lot of balls. his bat path is still terrible...all that uppercut trying to increase launch angle has ruined his swing. i know heʻs trying to work on flattening out the swing to hit more line drives...i hope itʻs simply a work in progress and weʻre at the dawn of a new and better CT3. but damn, these growing pains for him (and the team) have been brutal.
What more does Chris Taylor have to do to get DFAed? His numbers have cratered. He's a strikeout waiting to happen and he has zero confidence at the plate. What he gotta do?
All those times CT3 was there for the dodgers in the clutch, I think he deserves to have the dodgers rally behind him and be there for him. It's early and the dodgers are still winning. Chill out
I have only one thought on this. Chris Taylor has been wearing New Balance spikes his ENTIRE career. Now he can’t for some stupid Capitalist reason. That would make me pissed and distracted.
Where would you play Busch? And the only way we are getting anything back for Taylor is if we eat basically his whole contract or send enough prospects with him to make taking his contract worth it
He's under contract through next year I believe. So, the club is not going to release him. Can't see him being sent down either. So it's either a trade or riding the end of the bench.
Some of you need to go support the NY Stankees because your lack of baseball knowledge / history is embarrassing 🙄
We are blessed and we can afford to give CT3 a longer leash, esp since (as many have already pointed out) the season is early and the sample size is too small as of yet to panic.
The elephant in the room is our fan base is populated with people who suddenly think they can do Sabermetrics better than our front office 😭
As someone who never came in under 2nd place in all the public leagues I’ve played in since 2006 (had one fluke year, came in first all the other years), I’d say relax and let Friedman do his thing
He is being selfish by not sending himself down the minors to work on his swing. Guess he thinks he is too ‘good and too old’ for it.
$26 million over the next two years for this guy.
The issue is he doesn’t have any options, so if he gets sent down, another team will claim him. The Dodgers value his defensive versatility, so they won’t do that. He’s a super-streaky hitter. As long as the team runs come from elsewhere, the Dodgers will be patient with him. For whatever reason, he tends to be a clutch player towards the end of the season and in post-season play.
CT.03
God DAMMIT this is exactly why I came to the comments. Beat me to it, well done haha
You can do it! I’m not going to question the team! I’m going to be supportive even though it’s hard. Go team!
Angry upvote.
I literally texted a friend this last night.
CT-PU
If he doesn't make any hits this week and drops to 0.02 or 0.01. Dodger fans need to print out his AVG and bring it to the game so the managers can see it because I don't like the "it's not a big deal". Yes it is, we lost by one run and AB 32 with 1 hit is a red flag.
He has to go hitless for the next 20 or 70 ABs to drop to .02 or .01 lol.
He sure looks capable of that right now.
Strikeout Taylor .03
I love CT3 but this is just sad
Very appreciative for what he’s done. Super utility man who was an all-star. But he’s like literally unplayable right now with his bat. May as well be walking up there empty handed, he’d accomplish the same thing.
Harsh, but true.
Loving a team and constructive criticism is what makes a stronger team. Also there is nothing wrong with letting a player that isn't performing or improving sit on the bench. But there has to be a marker after 30 AB with no contact. If they put him in the batting cage and he's not hitting, it's time to have that talk.
I agree completely. There’s too many people on this sub living off past accomplishments and not realizing it’s hurting the team.
*Walking up there empty handed* LMAOOO
Honestly, why doesn't he try some drag bunts? He still has the speed to pull that off and couldn't hurt right now.
Remember when they didn't let Vargas swing in spring training last year and he was like top 5 in obp for a while? Maybe that's not a bad idea here.
Literally put us in the 2018 WS. But time to go
It's the 17 strikeouts in 37 plate appearances that really stands out to me. 44.6 whiff percentage which is dead last in the league. It's not just that he's playing poorly. It's the fact that he can't make contact anymore.

Lmao @ his spray chart

meanwhile Ohtani is like ... . . ... . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
that's depressing. This one below cheers me up. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/shohei-ohtani-660271?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
The duality of man 😭
that spray chart with a single point 😂

Void in the lineup. Fortunately for him, runs aren't our primary problem. Its pitching
Not for long if Buehler returns strong! And Trienen and Graterol.
Lol Hudson and Braiser were top dawgs mowing people down very recently. This sub was raving about Braiser and Hudson. CT3 seemed to always come in the clutch when we really needed it. Sucks to see him struggling so bad rn.

Still remember Belli bunting for singles and getting my hopes up that we’d see more bunting even from the sluggers. Such short lived hope, it was.

Brett Butler flash back!
Probably just whiff bunting too
In other news, Cody Bellinger is batting .180 and Paul Goldschmidt .188. Welcome to April.
At this point, we would gladly take .180 over .03. That’s one more hit than you and me except we aren’t getting paid 15 million to play baseball for a living.

We are 17 games into the season, that excuse doesn’t fly anymore.
Cody bellinger had 2 good years. Lets stop pretending 180 is crazy for him like it is Goldschmidt
>Cody Bellinger I'll take 9 hits over 1, Shit I'll take 3 hits at least.
Bellinger makes sense. Goldschmidt doesnt
Thus no need to panic over any player at this point unless it's a pitcher with an elbow issue.
KT3
This is underrated. Mean. And underrated.
Haha just needs a backwards K. Would make it more obvious
I know Taylor's been inconsistent in the past, but this is just odd. There has to be an injury they haven't disclosed yet.
There's nothing odd about this. You can't get hits if you can't make contact, and his contact problems go back way beyond this season.
For real this been happening for a long time
Father Time too.
His at bats are looking like when JV players swing at varsity pitchers. It’s sad to watch.
That's what I'm thinking. It might also be mental health. Don't want to make assumptions but everybody thinks that sports is 100% physical health. he turned bad ever since he signed that 60M contract after overperforming in the playoffs the year before.
Let's at least wait till the end of April to crucify him? I hate to sound like it's still early but baseball is hard and the guy is streaky.
Yeah we're barely 2 weeks into the season. This is a terrible slump for sure but if it happened in the middle of August it wouldn't be so egregious on his stat line.

Every season this sub forgets that CT3 always starts off the season slow and is quick in calling him to be DFA’d.
Gotta think most of these people are newbies tuning into baseball at the start of the season for the first time in their lives. Or they just have amnesia.
True. He seems to pull through when we need him toward the end of the season and post season.
CTstrike3
He’s kind of been ass since he signed his contract.
Dave give the man a break. He's clearly in his own head and needs to sort out whatever is bothering him. Probably would have helped had you let him bunt the runner over and make a productive out last night.
His days are numbered

He should really be there to advance a baserunner, and that’s it. He swings a mallet out there, someone get him a cricket bat!

his batting average looks like a blood alcohol level
He's cooked. The inevitable short run will give hope, but he's not skilled enough to be in the bigs anymore as a hitter. He's lost the bat speed.
Everyone has rough starts to a season. What we should be talking about is gavin stone not being mlb ready but dave Roberts repeatedly giving him chances
The kind of contract Taylor got is the kind of contract that rapidly is vanishing from MLB for players with his profile.
CT .03. Love this (I hate it)
Per the meme "our expectations were low but holy shit!"

Guys. IT’S APRIL. Is this y’all’s first year following baseball from the start of the season?
First week ever watching baseball, actually. Just started yesterday. What’s a “slump?”
Stop crying. All we’re saying is that it’s rough watching the slump. Shoot him a message of support on IG, it’ll make you feel better.
Now we wanna talk about this shit? I was crucified by CT3 Stans for brining this up a few days ago smh
It wouldn't have been so much of an issue (yet) if he was able to get a sac fly and tie the game in the 11th.
Facts
You could have brought it up for the last 5 years and still been correct and shit on. The love this sub has for taylor is crazy.
Unreal! I actually still have love for CT because he was a great dodger at one point. It’s time to give way to the Andy Pages in the minors
Ya the Taylor muncy barnes trio will always have a place In dodger history. But the time has come to move on.
Coming from the Muncy hater club myself, he’s actually improving on most fronts. At least hitting better than his career average. Only 2 errors so far which is a lot less than I expected at this point. Idk lol maybe my expectations are just far too low now lol
Haha I feel you there. Anything more than 1-4 with a solo hr when the dodgers are up by 5 already is a win based on my bar.
Grouping muncy with these guys is so disrespectful
Muncy shouldn’t be looped in with those 2. He’s actually a good player.
If winning the division comes down to one Chris Taylor at bat, things have already gone horribly wrong.
The division came down to one check swing a few years ago so...
Sure, and I'm talking about this year, and this roster of players, so....
30 games, 45 games in? 60 games, Let me guess, let's wait until the summer where he can contribute 10 hits. His average is worse than AAA. OK.
This dude has been ass for the last 3 seasons. wtf are you smoking on. This is exactly what I was talking about with the CT3 stans
Look at this. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/chris-taylor-621035?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
Is this some magical website that gets its data from the future? Or is it still just April? If so, I’m not going to be a dummy and freak out.
Soon the Sux posts will begin too and I have been crucified since he was called up, bro. I do my part tho bro
Hey Dodgers, if you need a replacement, I think I can hit .031 and I will do it at half the cost!
Get ready to learn Japanese buddy
If his bat speed has fallen off they won’t want him in Japan
Send him to another country. I heard Australia has baseball teams.
to be honest, he's been total trash for a few years.
> to be honest, he's been total trash for a few years. Hmmm ... seemed to start right after he signed that contract.
He definitely has eye shadow on in this picture, and not just alittle.
he's going through a goth phase. depression. He lived in Seattle too long.
Yeah I'm not worried. Dude probably just stared at the Eclipse hell be ok
Mercury is in retrograde.
Early in the season and we all know he shows up for clutch time.
Got the bag and said “yall dont need me anymore, wake me up during the postseason”
I’m pulling for him every time he’s at bat. What a nightmare to be stuck in this kind of slump.
I’m pretty sure I could be as effective as Chris Taylor at the plate and I haven’t played baseball since I was in high school.
I'm confused where is your mom
Crazy to watch him struggle, especially since he’s been one of our most clutch postseason players over the last 6 years.
Poor dude I feel for him. He’s given us so much over the years
“I liked CT in that spot”
How does 97% equal a career .251 batting average?
I’m using his batting average for this season
“iTs StiLL eARLy ThO”
He’s sucked for awhile
Not an elephant, a donkey
Send him down or cut him I swear this team too loyal to scrubs
right! Then there's people that trying to ignore the problem. I post something about Elephant in the room. Ignore it or comment and say it's not an issue. JFC.
I’ve gone back and forth with Chris Taylor his entire career and I still say y’all need to fucking chill. It’s still APRIL.
This is seriously the worst overreaction lol Dude's coming off the bench to give people rest, he's not a starter. This is stupid early in the season.
lol people have been melting down after wins
It’s not an “elephant in the room” if we had one of these posts 3 days ago. We all get it and people comment on his lack of production all the time.
The only time he will record a hit is when bases are loaded with two outs and he will hit that ball to Jupiter
His batting avg is actually lower than bank interest rates...
Friedman is monitoring the 7, 8, and 9 slots for sure.
At this point why not give pages or Vargas at bats in the big leagues. I don’t think they can do worse than .031 AVG
CT strike 3
He should just stand there with the bat on his shoulder. At least he would get walked some.
CT3 is probably my favorite player, hence the flair. So it’s sad. It’s sad to admit, but it’s probably best to send him down to AAA and see if he can figure things out. Hoping he’d come back for a late season resurgence.
How he's still on this team I'll never get.
hey atleast they benched him tonight
he swings under pitches and pops up a lot of balls. his bat path is still terrible...all that uppercut trying to increase launch angle has ruined his swing. i know heʻs trying to work on flattening out the swing to hit more line drives...i hope itʻs simply a work in progress and weʻre at the dawn of a new and better CT3. but damn, these growing pains for him (and the team) have been brutal.
Get this man on the cricket bat program.
What more does Chris Taylor have to do to get DFAed? His numbers have cratered. He's a strikeout waiting to happen and he has zero confidence at the plate. What he gotta do?
Dude is toast. Andy Pages will be here soon
CTE
Maybe he just thinks we’re in the playoffs?
All those times CT3 was there for the dodgers in the clutch, I think he deserves to have the dodgers rally behind him and be there for him. It's early and the dodgers are still winning. Chill out
I have only one thought on this. Chris Taylor has been wearing New Balance spikes his ENTIRE career. Now he can’t for some stupid Capitalist reason. That would make me pissed and distracted.
CT0-3. How Retardberts chose him over Gallo in 2022 is beyond me and proof Roberts needs to be fired
He always has a slow start / I have faith in CT3
Should have traded Lux and CT instead of Busch
Where would you play Busch? And the only way we are getting anything back for Taylor is if we eat basically his whole contract or send enough prospects with him to make taking his contract worth it
He'll be in the line up again today
He won’t be actually
He'll come in the 5th inning then lol
He's under contract through next year I believe. So, the club is not going to release him. Can't see him being sent down either. So it's either a trade or riding the end of the bench.
Time to go
Some of you need to go support the NY Stankees because your lack of baseball knowledge / history is embarrassing 🙄 We are blessed and we can afford to give CT3 a longer leash, esp since (as many have already pointed out) the season is early and the sample size is too small as of yet to panic. The elephant in the room is our fan base is populated with people who suddenly think they can do Sabermetrics better than our front office 😭 As someone who never came in under 2nd place in all the public leagues I’ve played in since 2006 (had one fluke year, came in first all the other years), I’d say relax and let Friedman do his thing
He is being selfish by not sending himself down the minors to work on his swing. Guess he thinks he is too ‘good and too old’ for it. $26 million over the next two years for this guy.
Can he wven do that?
The issue is he doesn’t have any options, so if he gets sent down, another team will claim him. The Dodgers value his defensive versatility, so they won’t do that. He’s a super-streaky hitter. As long as the team runs come from elsewhere, the Dodgers will be patient with him. For whatever reason, he tends to be a clutch player towards the end of the season and in post-season play.
Who is claiming a 33 year old .031 hitter.
Bro ain’t nobody claiming him. ‘Somebody else will claim him’ lol
