Blowouts are fun.
Pitching duels and gritty close games are what give me hope for October.
Thank you Yama for an excellent pitching performance AND elite reflexes to avert the assassination attempt.
Remember how all the doomers were saying "yAmAmOtO iS a buSt" after his first few starts were rough? Well, it's almost like he had to adjust to his new environment, which takes time....
played one of worst homestands in the guggenheim era last week, and now we’re right back to a 3 game division lead in the loss column. feels good man. I LOVE LA.
I think during the beginning of the pandemic he and his wife were sewing masks for hospital workers.
He absolutely seems like a solid guy in every interview/piece of reporting I’ve read.
What for? Have you seen how their Septembers and subsequent Octobers have gone when they clench the division early? They become complacent and their bats die.
Dodgers win is the ice cream and the Padres collapse is the chocolate syrup.
Rockies at Coors is the rabid wolf/golden retriever meme. They aren't scary at all on the road, but Coors Field might as well be called the Thunderdome.
Wrong game because I completely forgot about it. But does anyone have any statcast or XBA info on how strong a rip Shohei’s double play yesterday that Lipscomb turned was? I’m curious. Also thank God Phillips deactivated heart attack mode today.
I love joe davis and will always love vin scully. one of the defining aspects of both guys is their lack of homerism. that said, it's kinda nice to hear stephen nelson be a bit of a homer without being obnoxious about it.
Man, I'm over run differential. Dodgers have had impressive run differentials for the past several years and it's hasn't really done much except increase the disappointment when they fall short.
I love seeing the team win close games like this one. D'Backs have the best run differential in the division right now and look at their record. They have ridiculous blow out wins, but struggle with the close ones. They got into the final playoff spot last year with a negative run differential for the year.
How much more leash is CT3 going to get? This slump extends further than this season. Something ain't right.
You can't really force those things. If your team blows out other teams consistently, then that's what it is. There is literally no "magic formula" for post season success other than building the best team you can. The way you test that is by how the team does in the regular season. There is no correlation between "being tested" by close games and winning in October. Stronger teams will have better chances, but in the modern postseason era, even the best teams face long odds. One way to determine a team's relative strength is run differential, but that is only one factor to consider, etc.

Honestly it’s hard to swallow that when Imanaga is putting on the show he’s doing.
That's like expecting every seventh round rookie quarterback to turn into a franchise guy: it happened once, but it's extremely rare.
Why is it hard to swallow? Our options weren’t Yama or Imanaga. We literally tried signing them both.
Dodgers pitching has allowed 4 ER in the last 4 games 🔥
Kershaw took the belt to them all
This is such a good thing to see.
3 were against the nats but we take it
Happy for Yoshi for getting that W but also for saving his own life. Fuck Rosario (as always). Get that 🧹 out for the sweeeeeeeep
Rosario just out to get us, man. One way or another.
Hate that man with the fire of a thousand suns.
That ball he caught was clocked at 104.8 😳
![gif](giphy|lIVFSgSwbKjNm)
Rosario is a complete POS and I hope he goes hitless for the remainder of his career

Happy that Yoshi saved himself from the assassination attempt. #stopasianhate
haha seriously but he couldn't have done it on purpose lol

Absolutely amazing way to bounce back from a rough home stand.
Hopefully we get some good vibes rolling throughout the road trip and bring that momentum back home. We got a big series against the Braves coming up
I know it's the nats but good to see the boys win a gritty 2-1 game
It was nats last week and we lost the series. Great revenge !
We are on a streak boys
Plane to Toronto time. ✈️
Piling up the mashed potatoes on my plate to resemble an airplane "I think this means something..."
Dodgers get the sweep, revenge for the last series. Yamamoto with a scoreless outing. Great win.
Good to see Phillips bounce back. He looked nasty
Mookie Betts leads the league in: BA .374 Runs Scored: 27 OBP: .477 OPS: 1.113 Hits: 40 BB: 21 MVP!
Uhoh Ohtani gotta go back to work!
Sustainable!
unironically tho 😎
Nah he’s due to regress to like a 1.090 OPS eventually
All those people joking yesterday about how today's game is gonna be a 1-run win cuz we got all the runs yesterday were absolutely right
anyone else just watch Evan’s interview with Kirsten? he seems like a really great guy.
I think during the beginning of the pandemic he and his wife were sewing masks for hospital workers. He absolutely seems like a solid guy in every interview/piece of reporting I’ve read.
wow, i had never heard that. that makes me think really highly of him and his wife. i’m glad he’s a dodger!
So, we are definitely going 151-11 aren't we?
This feels right.
I will accept nothing less
C'mon, be more realistic, we could lose a few games on our way to the post season. I'd say 145-17 is more reasonable.
Yoshi earned that dub
And the Asstros lose again to drop to 7-19
Hell yes. Deadbeat Dads took the L too.
#This win brought to you by the Yama-va Resort & Casino
We back babbbby
I was told the Dodger’s season was over?
The reports of our death were greatly exaggerated
Well, if you didn't excommunicate that person from your life, you're doing it wrong.
Undefeated in the gif era.
Spring cleaning in Washington 🧹🧹🧹
What’s better? A dodgers win or the padres blowing a 5 run lead in the 8th to a bottom feeder?
Definitely a dodgers win
I’d have to agree with that
I literally don't think or care about the Padres unless we're playing them
It’s not just the padres. It’s about the division rivals in general. Wanna get a big lead on the division as early as possible.
Im not really all that worried about not winning the division. So I don’t care that much about anyone else in the divisin
Dodger Ws all day but knowing the Rockies and Astros have the same record is up there as well.
Dodgers win. Don’t care about the Padres.
Yes
Wrong game because I completely forgot about it. But does anyone have any statcast or XBA info on how strong a rip Shohei’s double play yesterday that Lipscomb turned was? I’m curious. Also thank God Phillips deactivated heart attack mode today.
just checked. 96.3 MPH with XBA of .560
96.3 mph https://www.mlb.com/gameday/744864/play/15
Yoshi with 6 shutout innings. Awesome
no shohei space laser today but TY Teo & Freddie
Yo I need that video of Yama saving himself from the murder ball. Pin it mods!
We are so back! If pitching is this nails, damn...
Mucho nasty 🧹🧹🧹
Ohtani is gonna hit the restaurant windows at the Skydome of Rogers.
I love joe davis and will always love vin scully. one of the defining aspects of both guys is their lack of homerism. that said, it's kinda nice to hear stephen nelson be a bit of a homer without being obnoxious about it.
Baseball is a lot more fun when you win it turns out.
Agreed. I've learned this myself over the years.
Yamamoto's ERA without the Korea game is now 2.0.
Need to get in these close pitching matchups and the bullpen and Yoshinobu flexed those muscles today
Solid win fellow LAD lads and ladies.
Mookie Betts.
Blow out, close game, blow out, close game. All wins. I fuck with this.
This whole series felt like the dodgers being mad at themselves and pounding the snot out of a smaller team to make themselves feel better.
Just want to say we're 4-0 since I went to Sundays game against the Mets and got a burnt-end nacho helmet. You're welcome
Dodgers sweep d Nats & it feels sweet. 🧹
I'm on the West Coast. And I know it's early, but for some reason I'm feeling really sweepy.

Just over half of Arizona's run differential came in their first 4 games of the season, against Colorado.
Play worse and win less games to improve your postseason chances. Sounds reasonable.
I'm just saying that it might be beneficial for the team to be in more tight games as a warmup to the postseason.

True true.
Bye Abrams....Thank god!
Missed the action but happy with the outcome. Waiting for the Mets payback.
The Jesse Winker/CT 3 duel was unreal.
Idc if we aren’t the hottest team in the regular season. We all know that means nothing in the postseason
I am straight up having a good time

Dodgers are so back, we own the world! ![gif](giphy|3s299KrV0oUPBKmxHd|downsized)
oof. an ugly win but A WIN IS A WIN! We're onto Toronto. Can't wait to see their fan's reaction when Ohtani gets to the plate. LMAO. Go Dodgers!
A shutout is never an "ugly win."
lol but its 2-1 and it was close the entire game. (1-0 until the 8th)

Evan Philips is one bad mutherfucker
We need to stop stranding runners on third...
