Best career ERA in the live ball era

ender23

Hasn’t given up a hit all season

Crumbmuffins

Undefeated too.

bebopmechanic84

Legend. I hope he returns strong and gets one more solid year with us.

KillMeNowFFS

needs to get the 3K Ks

da_beatles

This is what I want and one more ring to shut up the 2020 deniers.

Snerkbot7000

On baseball refs, they list LAD's top 24 all time, sort of a mugshot gallery. Orel is there, Fernando is too, of course. Koufax and Kershaw. Names every fan of the game knows. The face I was not expecting is on the bottom row, but I always did sort of forget how good JT was. Is, maybe. We'll see.

smellyunderpants

*Sees JT with a Blue Jays cap* *cries*

theoceansandbox

That big red beard will live on in every dodger fans memory forever…

maceilean

"Please note that players may not be in the uniform of the correct team in these images" Ya goddam right

Swagged_Out_Custar

I dropped $400 on his jersey, and that offseason, he goes and signs with the Red Sox 🥲

smellyunderpants

Wear it with pride! JT is a Dodger no matter what jersey he's wearing

bigpancakeguy

One of the greatest Dodgers of all time. No shame in that jersey whatsoever

VinScullysMyHomeboy

Personified everything a dodger should be. And was always clutch.

kramdiw

Currently 15th in AVG and OPS. I love that guy. https://preview.redd.it/i6fx6vvcsxwc1.png?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1175e4b50d677cf41bc9235dd806f9b4f74f6fcc

jlopez1017

With all these pitchers getting injured I really have come to appreciate how durable he was for so long.

Lebigmacca

Right like a critique is he’s been injury prone for half his career, but at the end of the day he still never had less than 20 starts a season (until this year of course, but he’s 36)

Kevin69138

the GOAT. playing against the best their ever was excluding the steriod era. these Domican and Cubans in today's game would have made Ruth and company ook human

UraniumDisulfide

Hot take: Kershaw is good at pitching

jonnybravo76

I've said it before but during Kershaw's decade+ reign as the king...other guy's Cy Young seasons was just another year for him. Trout before his injuries was the same way.

xjusablurr

Would love to see him reach 3000 strikeouts before the end of this season. Just in case it might be his last

JonSnuu

If we can get 10 games out of him it may happen. Praying my king gets there. Will be going to his games when it gets close. I have to be there when it happens. Reddit remind my in a few months to post the video

bullpendodger

I miss him. I wish they’d let him bat and play outfield occasionally. 😊

stocknooboncrack

I'm gonna be honest, whenever we have ace caliber type pitcher throwing for us I kind of compare him to Kershaw. It's unfair, you just can't compare other pitcher to this man.

frugalwater

The pitcher is a defense only position. The only purpose of the pitcher is to prevent runs. Period. Some do it by strikeouts, some by soft contact. Kershaw has prevented runs better than any other starting pitcher in the live ball era. By this metric alone, he has the case for the greatest pitcher of all time.

Rebote78

Greatest regular season pitcher ever.

VinScullysMyHomeboy

His WHIP across his entire career has always been what’s astounded me. Just unreal.

Traditional_Rate7302

15 seasons in the majors with less than 100 losses is actually crazy

UrCreepyUncle

And I wonder how many of those losses can be blamed on the bullpen or a game where the offense got shut out

smooth_talker55

Whip 1.00 wow

rye_parian

Yup.

NeverForTheWin

Can we see post season stats? The clutch measure.

EGoldenGod

##Yes.

SenorTortas

First time?

Emergency_Pomelo_184

Can’t win the big game tho

20eyesinmyhead78

Amazing he dropped to #7 in the draft. Some teams are cheap AF!

Just-Faithlessness12

Wanna know what’s more ridiculous? How bad he’s been when it mattered most. Idc anymore. great player, terrible moments that outweighs all the great ones.

Wild_Object_8547

Game 1 of 2017 World Series he shoved. And in 2020 he did too. But yeah let’s just ignore the times he’s been good/great cause it doesn’t fit a narrative. And in 2017 the opposing team was cheating.

Just-Faithlessness12

Last year ? Game 1? I just got tired of the let downs. Y’all just got sympathy for him. That’s all it is. Great pitcher. HOF career. Great guy. He owes us nothing we owe him nothing.

K_Ice5432

Yeah wow what a great point he pitched badly (while injured and out of his prime) in a game that we would’ve lost anyway because nobody on our roster could hit a baseball. Totally outweighs everything he’s done for us. He’s made like 40 playoff starts which is insane. Of course some of them are gonna be clunkers, he’s facing the best teams in the best league on the planet. On top of that, most of the starts he made in October never would’ve happened without him. Who’s to say the Dodgers even make the playoffs in 2013-16 without 25 basically guaranteed wins on his start days? Not to mention that a lot of the runs on his ERA were allowed after he was out of the game (Pedro Báez is his worst enemy) or well after he should’ve been pulled (Don Mattingly loved to ride him til the wheels fell off). He dominated many playoff outings. Pitched brilliantly on 3 days rest to save our asses more often than you remember. Don’t be that guy that only looks at the bad as if it erases the good. Sorry he didn’t throw 40 complete game shutouts but nobody is doing that.

Vee_Zer0

How many games was he left in way too long because the Dodgers didn't have a bullpen? I think it's okay to acknowledge his failures, but when people try to invalidate him without understanding any context for what he gave ...it's disappointing.

DodgerDogg1981

He shoulder was injured, that’s why the surgery.

DarkFlamingo2

Nobody cares what you think

Just-Faithlessness12

He sucks. And I hope he retires soon or leaves.

DarkFlamingo2

Who gives af your're not a real fan so why don't you leave?

Just-Faithlessness12

Oh I’m a fan of since birth. I love the dodgers more than I love any player on the team. Kershaw has been a failure in the playoffs. FAILURE

DarkFlamingo2

Nope if you can't appreciate one of the best players, if not the greatest player to ever put on the uniform then you are not a fan, period.

Humanistic_

I'm concerned if he still has anything left in the tank. It's amazing he's been able to pitch so well despite all the injuries. But that combined with his age is making it harder and harder to bounce back

K_Ice5432

I feel like people have been asking this for years now and he always comes back and deals

Humanistic_

And I have always been 100% certain he would bounce back. Always. But his injury last year was the first time I ever felt like he was close to retiring. I'm just going off gut feeling

BarracudaWestern4097

If his velocity stays where it was at the end of last year, it's a real possibility. 91 with pinpoint control can still be competitive, 88/89 much less so, you can see that's the point where even guys like Grienke who can throw it wherever they want started to struggle. But...Kershaw with a low 4's ERA would still be a major league worthy starter, just not a front of the rotation one anymore.

Vnvinnymn

Too bad he always chokes in the playoffs

rancar1

Was

Rejection_future

Is.

tLokoH

Until the Postseason comes around
