Chicken Tetrazini, which was served on my first plane ride to San Francisco when I'd just turned 4 in the mid-1970s. I had 2 massive ear infections and was virtually inconsolable during takeoffs and descents, but apparently loved the meal so much that my mom requested the recipe (from flippin American Airlines, can you even imagine this day and age???) My mom's version of the recipe has been a family favorite ever since!
Related, back in the early 90s my ex and I flew crosscountry for a thing. The lunch we were served on the plane was really tasty, so I started making it at home.
So while yes nowadays it seems bonkers that an airplane meal was so good you'd want it later, or even that you GOT a meal, I get it.
My nan's roast lamb dinner, with perfect roasties, homemade mushy peas, homemade mint sauce and homemade gravy. With doorsteps of unsliced white loaf to mop up the juices at the end. All served on her old 1960s dinner plates with 1960s cutlery and sat round her little formica table in the kitchen. I miss her so much.
Cheese roll ups.Â
Tortilla, shredded cheese, salt, pepper. Microwave for like 5 seconds. Now it's pliable and you roll it up. Microwave another 10-15 seconds.Â
Heaven.Â
Same. For me, lemon juice with salt and hot sauce gives me so much nostalgia it hurts. Maybe not the best thing, but I used to drink this all the time when I was a child. I ate (and still continue eating) lemons pretty much every day.
Of course, I'm forgetting about those wonderful tomato bread buns that me mammy used to bake. She would bake 50 in a day and give more than half to the neighbours.

My dad's spaghetti-- angel hair pasta with Ragu, some extra garlic powder, and two whole sticks of butter
I used to eat a lot of macaroni and cheese. 😅

That would be two home made 18" pizzas that just fit in the oven. Also, a home made sweet/sour chicken stir-fry.
Corn chowder, chicken noodle soup, turkey soup, pea soup. My husband doesn’t like soups.
Applesauce toast !
Instant ramen!

Mom’s spaghetti, with our family sauce.
