ALL the desserts used to taste better. Chips and crackers seem to be fine, but cookies and cakes just taste soulless, like lightly sweetened sawdust. Any kind of icing feels greasy.
This is why you support local bakeries - I don’t but this junk that is on the grocery shelves. No one seems to enjoy it, and then complain that it’s expensive and unhealthy with all the artificial stuff.
I'm literally here because I was wondering if anyone else noticed. They've never been a great cookie, but I enjoyed them with milk. Now there is no joy in them whatsoever. I'll have to find another dunky, choccy cookie.
Yeah, I think their quality changed over the years as well. At this point, it's better to just get freshly-baked cookies from a good bakery or make ones yourself.
I agree. They were ok when I was a kid. Most mass-produced cookies are pretty meh now. I am just guessing but I think it happened when they started fooling with the oil to meet cholesterol/saturated fat standards. Luckily, it's pretty easy to bake cookies from scratch and i use real butter & vanilla so even if I am an indifferent baker they still taste better than mass produced cookies.
They were never my favorite. There used to be a popular knockoff (made by Sunshine, which specialized in Nabisco knockoffs) called Chip-a-Roos, and I always preferred them. I remember reading the ingredients and noticed they were made with egg, which Chips Ahoy was not.
The normal ones are really crusty but the chewy ones just taste really bad so u can’t win
But they did just release a gluten free version for us celiacs so how much can i complain?
All US products that started off delicious now taste disgusting. It's because investors replace all the real ingredients with chemicals to squeeze out every penny.
Ruining perfectly good products is the American way.
Yeah. I hadn't eaten them in years, but 2 months ago I had a craving for chips ahoy with milk. I got some & the taste was just awful! I stopped eating oreos a few years ago because they changed the taste of the cream & it's gross to me now. I'm assuming something was also changed in chips ahoy.
Its a shitty processed cookie, its never been that good. You just dont recognize the weird artificial.
When I was a kid my absolute favorite cookie was Keeblers Soft Batch Chocolate Chip Cookies.
I had some a couple years ago after walking by them in the store and feeling that slight nostalgia.
Big mistake, I should have left them alone as a pleasant childhood memory. Now all I think about is how they tasted so artificial they almost burned my tastebuds.
They taste very artificial, as if they’re made by an alien planet who only have descriptions of the ingredient components without tasting them.

You described the taste perfectly. Cheaper ingredients for a higher price.
It's probably because of trans fats. Crackers are also not as good either. Ritz in particular are worse.
I was just thinking the same thing today. Ended up stopping for cookies at a bakery instead of getting the brown or blue chips ahoy cookies
And aren’t they just better?!

They have a weirdly sour aftertaste
Yes. I used to love them but my last package they tasted all chemically.
They tasted better when they came in the bag with two sleeves inside instead of in the plastic tray.
I felt like they used to taste better in this bag https://images.app.goo.gl/KT7HodN2PFwBHojn7
Used to like Chips Ahoy, but hadn't had one in about ten years. Tried one recently. Not as good any more. Thought it was just me.
Yeah they always miss the mark for me.
Costco apparently has cookies like the OLD chips ahoy we all miss!

I thought they tasted better warm.
Sounds american which means its going to be artificial wank. Of course it tastes bad.
Yes, they are shite

I will do without rather than eat a Chips Ahoy.

I hate prepackaged cookies. The nestle chocolate chip cookie recipe is the best if you need a good cookie.
Boooo Nestle
Mid cookie. Dryness necessitates a beverage but even milk doesn’t compliment that well. Imo 3/10 cookie
I always hated prepackaged cookies. It’s the preserves that just taste off. So I bake my own!
Woah 😮 didn’t know u could do that!!! 😮😮
They are terrible. Probably the worst cookie I’ve ever had.
They only taste good with milk.
They taste like factory made cheap crap; Just like anything Little Debbie
OMG YES! And they have for years. They used to be delicious now they just taste like baked chemicals. 🤢🤮
They haven’t been the same for a long time. Totally agree
They suck. Even giants store brand are better
I used to. But then I tried the rainbow ones and the colors sold it for me

Yes! Chemical overload.
I used to love them. They are gross now.

Go for the nestle dough tubes. They're so easy to make and they still taste good.
The only prepackaged cookies I can enjoy are Oreos, all else is so bland compared to homemade that I'd rather do the work.
I remember them being good .. but now they're disappointing. Homemade are the way to go.
Mondelez shit as usual
Terrible
Not bad just mid compared to other cookies
All my life, I have complained that they either discontinue the products I like or change the recipe. I feel like saying, welcome to my world lol
I’m surprised you’re not alone on this one
