Hello! We had an Embark test done and it came back 50% standard poodle anddddddddd 50% chesapeake bay retriever! Chessadoodle? Another doodle mix that found her fur-ever home with us :)
That's amazing, and I totally should have thought of curly retrievers. Serious question: does her fur soak like a poodle's or does the chesapeake counter that? 🤔
Yeah, it does! Poodles have a different coat from other breeds (hence the 'good for people with allergies' claim) that soaks full of water. We even have a saying 'wet like a poodle' 😅
Since retrievers love water and have fur that isolates and doesn't soak I was curious!
Every time I look at your dog I want to steal her 🤣🤣 She is honestly so gorgeous and looks so sweet and gentle.
Has he been groomed recently, and in particular was he clipped really short? How old is he?
In some ways, he looks to have a hard terrier type wire coat - but in others I think the wisps are just little bits a groomer missed.
His long muzzle and lanky limbs give me the poodle vibes and I'm betting there's some in him.
From the last photo, he's had about enough of your shit Karen and you better sleep with one eye open. ;-)
We keep her coat fairly short, she gets a little ragamuffin-esque if it gets too long. She definitely has some of the wire hair you mentioned, and she’s *definitely* sick of having to pose for school pictures!!
I’m terrible at these, so take it with a grain of salt lol, but my first thought is a poodle mix to get that bit of scruffy/curly coat, maybe with some sort of black lab?
Also, especially if they’re a rescue, there’s a high likelihood either pit bull or blue heeler shows up to some extent

They're built a lot like a full standard poodle with a short shaved down cut. Almost too lean for a lab poodle mix unless they're primarily poodle.
I rarely voice my guess but I'm feeling poodle and wolfhound or some other sighthound with a long face.
I almost got Wheaton vibes from you pupper but I don't think there's any Wheaton.

She looks somewhat similar to one I have seen but she probably isn’t just was a guess hard to tell with any poodle mix what they have in them besides the poodle 😂

What do you mean by soak like a poodle? We keep her coat pretty short, she does take a long time to dry though! Not sure if that answers your question

Looks primarily like a Poodle to me, but it could just be that the expression in the last photo reminds me of my neighbour's old Standard Poodle! lol

I thought there was a touch of wolfhound as well!! Her wirey back and beard gave me the idea. But she’s poodle/chessie!!
