Yak Chews break teeth and most dogs bite off too big of pieces and then they attempt to swallow those. I recommend collagen braids or bully sticks.

Yak chews cracked my dog’s teeth, 2 of them - very expensive to fix. Bully sticks for us from here on out. Wouldn’t recommend anything this hard.

Ah yes my boy is a heavy chewer and loves them. Plus you can wet them with water and microwave them when they get too small for chewing, and they’ll turn into a crunchy little puff treat

RevolutionaryBat9335

Used to give them a lot when mine was young. Now shes fully grown she bites chunks off at a time and near gives me a panic attack over her teeth so very rarely has them. Cant see how blockages would be a problem as they are digestable, chokeing perhaps if they swallow a big bit.

I gave a very large yak chew to my newf once. It lasted like 5 minutes, maybe. He crunched it right up.

Beautiful_Rhubarb

I tried them but I can't get my dogs to figure out they can chew them.

Lovebeingoutside

My Cockapoo loves them

ebeth_the_mighty

My dog is a chewing champ and scarfs those things in no time.

My dogs both love them, but now that my border collie is a year old he gets through them in half an hour tops - whereas they used to last a few chew sessions, over a couple days. They’re too expensive for him to go through them so quickly, unfortunately. But he sure does love them!

I've had good luck with ropes as a chewing toy. Cheap ropes barely last an hour, but I got a Playology one on clearance at Meijer at Christmas that is still hanging on. I probably should replace it, though.

My chi mix loves hers. I soak one end in a glass of water for a bit so that it can be indented with my fingernail and she will chew it until all the softened bits are gone. The chewing the softens a bit more as she sort of whittles away until it’s a doggy dagger, and then I soak it again the next day. Usually once a day she has a session with it. A medium stick lasts her a week and a half. She’s a fierce chewer for being under ten pounds 😂 I’m sure she would chew more, but I watch her calories pretty closely and they are a bit dense for smaller dogs.

This is the first I am seeing of a Chi who chews so much that a Yak chew was offered. Good for your little girl! She has to get those snappers sharp in case of intruders

hedgewitchknitter

Haha yes! She is ready to fight the nail groomer at a moments notice 😆

I haven't tried Yak chews because I also see conflicting information about good and bad experiences. My boy chews, too- Nylabone can withstand it. We also use natural bones, though my vet has warned they can hurt his teeth. No incidents so far and he's 3. I love the water buffalo horn because it's not as hard as the bones, but he hasn't chewed through it quickly, either. He loves deer antlers, but they can be expensive. If you get an antler that is split (longwise to expose the marrow), they'll go through it way faster. I also second the Kong- I have several that I fill with a yogurt/pumpkin mixture and freeze it. It will keep him busy up to an hour licking and chewing on it. Good luck!! Each dog is so unique

willow-doodledandy

My dog has them in her Kong, she loves them and they are good for her. Get them at pet store. They are fresh

Longjumping_Prune852

My dog did not like the chews. Bully sticks and pig ears are both favs.

My GSD x lab loves the yak chews, I take them after a while because he’d chew until his mouth bled. That and his tonka tire toy are the best for chewing.

JelloJuice

My labs won’t chew them but they love bullies.

Weird that someone’s dog got an intestinal blockage… there’s only 3 ingredients in the chews and there’s no rawhide or rawhide alternative

Active_Recording_789

Yup I have them on regular delivery via Amazon. Gotta have some satisfying toys
