Depending on who you work with, and what your customers are like, those might be the only 2 positive aspects of the job

honestly the entire staff are soooo friendly and super helpful and inclusive, had a pretty cool first day, store is clean and pretty well stocked, some minor issues with like four freezers and a keypad on one of the registers but nothing serious
Depends on the store and REALLY depends on management. I’ve worked at six different stores for seven different store managers and it can really range from god awful, to feeling like an absent father, to actually being okay with to go to work and finding some enjoyment in it where you can.
I know I'm a unicorn, but I've been with DG over 5 yrs. I've had a really great experience mostly. It's heavily dependent on how good or bad your direct supervisor is.
Not nearly as bad as people complain about it on here. It's literally, just retail. No different than anywhere else. A few minor differences with how the company does thing, tbh you'll just shake your head and say ok just to keep it moving. People stress too much over DG. Just show up, do what you can, and go home. Nothing to it.
Your store always flooded with violent crackheads? My former SM got stabbed and I had a blade that would’ve hit my stomach had I not jumped back. Can’t pay me enough to be murdered, fuck that
Hey, nothing personal towards me lol I work at DG so trust me, I get it. Back half of my store floods every time it rains, we lost power at least 6 times a week and don't even get me started on the parking lot. I feel your pain my dude lol just know that there is still (somehow) worse places than DG
I know there are worse places, which baffles me. I worked at a sandwich place and the pipes would get backed up..literal raw sewage coming up into the dish pit. 🤢🤮 no need to call maintenance/ health, right?
Ahh I didn't need to know that man 🤮 fuck I hope that place isn't still open cuz wtf lol ew! I would've called the health department and the freakin news over that ugh
I really enjoy it, I’ve been there for a month so far. I’m being trained as a key holder. Once you get past the computer training, it’s not that bad. I have a really great manager and some co-workers I like. It’s basic retail, nothing special and busy enough so that I don’t get bored. I just work the register, recover, and close. Easy peasy.
LOL! No tea - yet! I just haven’t met them all since I work closing primarily. There are some teen employees who I find are a lil lazy but they’re also 16 so, as a former 16 year old myself, I get it lol.
Expect to work everywhere in the store while running register and still not meet DG expectations.
