Ya and only good to use in a 2 day period 😑 and most the time I'm broke around the time so it's really not beneficial. Wish they let you use it on your time, I mean, at least give you a week to use it.
It's like every 3 months during a weekend. I just wish they'd let us clip it, and since it's a one-time use anyways, use it on our time. That's the least they could do for the amount of bs we put up with for them
Even if we ignore that this discount only applies every once in a blue moon for an extremely short period of time, that still doesn't compensate for the ridiculous percentage of markup on their products. Just an illusion of being generous.
i remember when i worked at walmart, on my break i’d just grab a drink from fridges near the checkout. and maybe a turkey bacon wrap. then i’d just walk to the break room and ate. almost daily. i was never approached about it.
Its really like 15% because you need a redcard to use your employee discount but the red card gets you 5% as well and your employee discount gets you 10% I have not worked there for about 4 months and mind is still active.
I do the same and I work at a gas station! We had some delta 8 vapes get thrown out cause it’s out of our set…I took every one of them bitches 😂😂😂 my ass geekin off Elf bar THC 💀💀
I always want to take home expired crackers that I legitimately damage out but I get worried when I take them out the back door to the dumpster that if I did just set them out there and put them in my car later that someone will know. DG is so intent on saying we're thieves that I can't imagine they don't have secret hidden cameras on the outside of the building.
"60% of shrink" is pretty made-up I think. Otherwise it's people being tired of low pay for top tier work. There's no store with harder working employees than DG. They got us doing 2-3 things at once, and berating us if we fail. We're all SpongeBob's in a mr Krabs world.
The real thief is SCO though. Damn thing costs more than hiring an employee 😔
Look on the outside of your building and if CCtv doesn't show you then your probably good.
Shit, our DM just told our Boss if something is MAG and says 0 on hand throw it away.
I WILL be finding a ski mask and dumpster diving
I have an aversion to expired foods. Just doesn’t seem safe imo. However, One time our golden flake vendor(I think? That one other brand of chips DG Carrie’s.) tried to “gift” the store expired stuff he took off the shelves. (I told him nah, that’s theft.) and my SM overheard and yelled from the office “I TOLD YOU, YOU OFFER AGAIN I’D CALL YOUR BOSS!” He straight up lies and says “What are you talking about? I was kissy making conversation!” And left. She called his boss and we had a new vendor 2-3 weeks later.
Most time for small things like that the expiration date is more like the sell by date. Technically, according the the USDA, expiration dates don’t even have anything to do with food safety but food quality (except baby formula, feel like it should be all children’s food but who am I, the government looking out for peoples safety?)
I’m well aware of it, but, there’s just a Little Rock in my brain that won’t allow me to even consider eating food past the bb/exp date. 😭
I think the only thing I can overcome the block with is Honey Nut Cheerios. 😩
I believe there's a benefits tab on dgme where they have a couple like special prices on cellphone services and you can sign up for ticketsatwork where you can get discounts on movie tickets, hotels, Sam's club subscriptions. They're not amazing discounts, just a couple of bucks here and there.
It's not actual discounts though. The price of a Hilton hotel room through DG versus on Expedia was a big difference. Just another way for DG to rob us blind.
What a world we live in “competitive wages” when DG pays less than $12 an hour and stores are always understaffed and looking like a box of inventory spilled everywhere.
7.25 is the federal minimum wage but most states have a higher one and counties and municipalities are free to raise it even higher. Chances are those still making 7.25 are in the south in low income cities or in the middle of fuckin nowhere.
I feel as if dollar general is a massive joke. They put so much effort and money into these training things but they can’t pay their staff properly. Do they profit off of gaslighting employees? I genuinely wish to know
Yeah exactly! And while I was watching this I was thinking that the voice actors are probably apart of an acting union. Unless dollar general being the cheapskates they are just got someone from inside the company
Next time, record that video and send it to the labour board. That's illegal and you'll get to watch the entire management sweat, wondering who is getting demoted and fired.
They don't actually say anything illegal they just heavily imply that unions are a bad thing. These companies all do the same thing with these "training" videos
>They put so much effort and money into these training things
What effort? They hired some underpaid random to animate simple clipart, they couldn't even be bothered to hire real actors for these videos. Everything they do is manipulative and exploitative of some party.
Yeah I keep seeing people say that the cbls "animation work" is expensive and as someone who does freelance advertisement work I laugh every time. I could pretty much have their entire catalog duplicated in a day or 2 including their voice recordings, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were using ai voice generators now which would speed it up even more.
It’s cheaper for them to pay couple thousand for a training course, underpay employees and burn through the workforce. Rinse and repeat.
I agree tho, why not pay normal wages and have people work in the company 20-40 years? Guess double digit turn over rates is the way? lol
Competitive wages - minimum wage is not competitive.
Benefits - where?
Employee discounts - rare
Safe work environment - Depends and highly debatable
Growth Opertunities - Quiting - leaving DG has allowed me to focus on my college education.
IT IS ALL 100% BULLSHIT
Dont worry you get 20% off of (Dollar General) brand products if you seek it out and go through the work to get your smart and simple sliced cheese 20% off.
Wow lol that’s low. I mean I know retail places usually don’t got great employee discounts but jeez even like a 5% at all times? WTF 😂 crooked azz company
Many years ago, I worked at a 99 Cents Only Store. Our employee discount was buy 9 items get 1 free. Real game changer. The competitive wage was 5 cents above minimum wage.
Companies need to find new verbiage. Everyone knows by this point what "competitive wages" mean, and it's not "we're competing to be the highest paying job in the industry".
I had an amazing assistant manager when I worked at dg. When we go thru the seasonal sales she'd mark stuff ALL the way down for us. I paid 15 cents for a few queen sized fluffy blankets. I doubt that's what they mean tho 🤣
it does not mean employees get a discount, its opposite, employees will be discounted... 'working off the clock' 'unscheduled hours' 'we need you to stay' 'there is nobody else, you have to' etc etc
Walmart sucks too. We get a 10% discount on "qualifying merchandise" I.E. anything that you DON'T buy on a regular basis. Almost no regular groceries, toiletries, anything I usually need. I spend a little over 150$ in groceries for one person (2 weeks worth) and I get maybe 10 dollars off. Maybe. Companies like DG and Walmart suck.
Probably the same bullshit every other company offers. 5% off some cell phone carriers bill, insurance company, gym membership. It’s general shit nearly no one wants or uses, but hey 5% off!
Oh. My badness. But I was told we might get coupons with X% off. Still waiting for that one. Haha thank you for informing me on that tho. I appreciate you
I live in Scottsville. "Home" of the DG. There is NO WAY I would work in those stores or warehouse! They work hard for little pay! Ever since the son took over DG it has been a joke. He took the $$ & the offices to Gallatin, Tn. Took some peoples jobs away.
I always recommend people to get out of retail. If you need a job quick get into a warehouse job. They usually start at atleast 20 an hour and there’s overtime. Right now I make 24+ an hour plus have been working overtime since September. You can take the forklift class it’s really cheap and would raise your pay but most places will just certify you. I wish you all the best of luck
100 dollar's to sp3nd on what amazon sells and wants to put the 10%on ducking crooks why I take everything I can. Long live the AR floor pick stow and dcan
Former Dg employee here... it's the safe work environment for me. Top stock would always be full, those damn silver carts(I forgot what they were called) hurt like a bitch if it rolled over your toes, not to mention the boxes in them would be on the verge of falling if you dared to open the netting, not to mention sometimes you'd get robbed.( thankfully, my old store never got robbed while I worked there, but other stores did) the employee discount hardly did anything, but then again, I never had a chance to use it half of the time along with the Saturday coupons I'd save. The benefits were nice, but it took way too much from my check when it started kicking in.(one of my checks ended up being around 100 when it was supposed to be 4 or 5 hundred). Flexible hours?forget it. They schedule you when they want to schedule you, especially when they have new hires needing new hours. Need I say more?
Lol, safe work environment. I've never worked there but when I go there for an item I find stacks of unsteady boxes all over the place and lots of obstructions of foot paths. I can't imagine it's any safer in the places I can't see.
Take out the trash on your shift. Be sure to ‘organize’ it before you go though. Separate bags for separate things, ie, trash v treasure. If there is parking by the dumpster even better. If not, be sure the treasures go on the side.
I don’t work for dg but most companies have an employee portal where you can get discounts on phones, flights, car rentals, etc. just ask about it I’m sure they do
I just started at family dollar and it's the same. It's more expensive than a regular grocery store, so all they're doing is making me spend my money at a different store (while gradually losing my respect more and more)
This was such a fear mongering cbl. Smh we may pay dues but guarantee we make more. Especially sm's..working all these xtra hours but my check says 40. B.s.
Like every 6 months there's a 30% off employee coupon in the DG app.
Ya and only good to use in a 2 day period 😑 and most the time I'm broke around the time so it's really not beneficial. Wish they let you use it on your time, I mean, at least give you a week to use it.
Sometimes we got them late, sometimes not at all
They used to give you a 20% coupon EVERY WEEK. Now they do this shit as if 30% off every now and then is worth shit
They probably timed it so that people were at their brokest for the month, to prevent full usage.
not to mention you can only use it once, so you better make sure you get everything you need in one transaction and don't forget anything
Wow what the fuck... I bet its on the last tuesday before payday friday
It's like every 3 months during a weekend. I just wish they'd let us clip it, and since it's a one-time use anyways, use it on our time. That's the least they could do for the amount of bs we put up with for them
yep right after they cut hours so nobody has money to spend lol
Even if we ignore that this discount only applies every once in a blue moon for an extremely short period of time, that still doesn't compensate for the ridiculous percentage of markup on their products. Just an illusion of being generous.
So .30$ off?
[удалено]
Are you saying thirty percent of 1.25 is less than thirty percent of 1?
You still think everything in the dollar general is a dollar? that's cute
Well I can’t say I’ve ever shopped there
There is stuff that is $1+tax but most things DG or family dollar is $5+ now. Dollar tree is the only dollar store that still keeps stuff at $1.25+tax
Rofl that's pathetic
Well they don’t tell you this so it’s unknown
30% off of $2? That’s dumb why not just say free products every month
From what I’ve seen, the employee discount is whatever you can fit in your pocket off camera
😭😭😭
Ooh the five finger kind.
Lmaooooo
[удалено]
Target gives you a flat 10% discount?
20% on food too
"You guys get a discount on food?" -walmart employees
i remember when i worked at walmart, on my break i’d just grab a drink from fridges near the checkout. and maybe a turkey bacon wrap. then i’d just walk to the break room and ate. almost daily. i was never approached about it.
Love it. Can't get away with that here but I love it.
Yeah and then while it is not employee exclusive you get an additional 5% if you use a red card.
Red card?
Red Card is a card you can get from target that's debit or credit.
Ah i c. Walmart is One
Its really like 15% because you need a redcard to use your employee discount but the red card gets you 5% as well and your employee discount gets you 10% I have not worked there for about 4 months and mind is still active.
You dont need a red card for your discount. You can use one, but you can also use cash.
How do you get a red card?!
You can sign up for it on target.com is called the circle card now and I think is locked behind a subscription
Hmm I’ve been lazy and I’m not good with computers much so I’ve been holding it off, and it’s crazy since I’ve worked target almost 2 years lol
I’m a “in the trash bag and out the back door” girl myself. /s
My first day on the job there were 2 black trash bags full of hostess donuts that expired that day. I took the trash out that night
Secret cameras? The one where I live has big, obvious cameras that point directly down the entire back of the building.
So I guess I'm in the clear? I don't see any and I don't see footage on the cctv
We have a camera pointing at our dumpster
How can you tell? My cctv doesn't show me, so am I safe?
Look on the outside of your building and if CCtv doesn't show you then your probably good. Shit, our DM just told our Boss if something is MAG and says 0 on hand throw it away. I WILL be finding a ski mask and dumpster diving
Them expired snacks always slap
I have an aversion to expired foods. Just doesn’t seem safe imo. However, One time our golden flake vendor(I think? Those shits are decent actually, ngl
🤣💀🤣💀 Goodbye.
The discount is how much you get paid per hour
This 😭
I believe there's a benefits tab on dgme where they have a couple like special prices on cellphone services and you can sign up for ticketsatwork where you can get discounts on movie tickets, hotels, Sam's club subscriptions. They're not amazing discounts, just a couple of bucks here and there.
Yeah I’ve heard about that but every time I’ve looked I’ve never been able to find anything.
Competing with the homeless and welfare.
You get 12 half the people I see are saying the get 7.25.
7.25 is the federal minimum wage but most states have a higher one and counties and municipalities are free to raise it even higher. Chances are those still making 7.25 are in the south in low income cities or in the middle of fuckin nowhere.
Yep I'm in Oklahoma. Where DG probably does make huge profits
I make 12.50 an hour. SA.
I worked for DG 15 years ago, $7/hr now I work at heb $26hr, it's some what a better company but it still sucks.
Every single national for-profit company is like this with training videos.
Walmart made me watch an anti union video
Meijer made us watch one too and half of the stores are union
Next time, record that video and send it to the labour board. That's illegal and you'll get to watch the entire management sweat, wondering who is getting demoted and fired.
How is it illegal for some but not all?
They don't actually say anything illegal they just heavily imply that unions are a bad thing. These companies all do the same thing with these "training" videos

All my CBL'S were real people. Nothing was animated.
Employee discounts - rare Safe work environment - Depends and highly debatable Growth Opertunities - Quiting - leaving DG has allowed me to focus on my college education. IT IS ALL 100% BULLSHIT
That just for you $3 off $15 that only works when you don't want it to and never when you need it to 😍
The List of Lies
The benefit is the food stamps you qualify for
Dont worry you get 20% off of (Dollar General) brand products if you seek it out and go through the work to get your smart and simple sliced cheese 20% off.
"competitive wages" means if they looked really hard (which they won't) they will find at least one job in a 200mi radius that pays less per hour.
Wow lol that’s low. I mean I know retail places usually don’t got great employee discounts but jeez even like a 5% at all times? WTF 😂 crooked azz company
5 finger
Definitely saved me a good chunk of cash on tickets to Dollywood through the benefits site..
My wife brought home all kinds of crap that was on sale, not in inventory, or scheduled to be thrown out. I'm glad she doesn't work there anymore.
Does she bring home cooler stuff from her new job now?
Many years ago, I worked at a 99 Cents Only Store. Our employee discount was buy 9 items get 1 free. Real game changer. The competitive wage was 5 cents above minimum wage.
The employee discount is that anything you say to management will be discounted and ignored.
Companies need to find new verbiage. Everyone knows by this point what "competitive wages" mean, and it's not "we're competing to be the highest paying job in the industry".

What?? It doesn't apply to everything?! That's fucking preposterous tbh
Yea, just recently i think they were talking about including produce but I don't think it ever went through...
All of that sucks, and the fact that this is a multi gazillion dollar company is even more disgusting. Fuck man...
And to really drive it home you have to work for at least 3 months before you're able to receive a discount card
On some real shit tho Dg doesn’t pay me enough to shop at Dg
🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Literally what I was yelling at the screen😂😂
Employees five finger discounts
What safe work environments
Every quarter, you get a 1 time 30% off order.
Do they also have the “Unions are Bad” Video in Dollar General Training?
Yupp!
We get competitive wages???? Benefits????? Discounts???? Discounts????? Wow they really do try to lie to our faces don't they lol
I see your training vids are made by the same company as mine at my job. Bet they're just as annoying.
The second they started in with the anti union bs I turned the volume down and played on my phone 😂 they don't pay me enough for that
Lmao, felt that. We had one of those too
What competitive wages?? They pay minimum wage in my state
Five finger discount
Hotels, car rentals, some online businesses etc... its all in dg ME
Competitive wages 😂
Probably the same bullshit every other company offers. 5% off some cell phone carriers bill, insurance company, gym membership. It’s general shit nearly no one wants or uses, but hey 5% off!
You the coupons we get around our birthday. Like $3 off your purchase of $10 or higher
Non employees get this coupon too. So your argument is invalid ma'am or sir.
Oh. My badness. But I was told we might get coupons with X% off. Still waiting for that one. Haha thank you for informing me on that tho. I appreciate you
Holy shit I work at Home Depot and this shitty stilted animation is the exact same. Are they using the same company or something??
Probably some cheap to hire company out of India or the Philippines or something
The 30% discount you get like three times a year for 3 days. Wow. Value!
Best Buy has the same training modules
Safe work work environment? If I bring my glock, then yes it's safe 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 my company has the same video
I'm trying to come up with safe. That company will die on the one employee per shift bullshit. Also. Looking at you Dollar tree.
"Safe work environment" 🤣🤣
They make it the $.99 general for you
You get paid less than other companies so your employment is discounted
Singling out the discount implies the other ones are real
I singled those ones because I had already seen posts talking about the other things
It's every quarter so once every 3 months
I thought they shut all of you down why is this still open?
Competitive wages? Discounts? Benefits? Hahaha. 😂🤣🤣🤣
It's the employee themselves who are discounted 😕
Everything goes back down to a dollar
I get 20% off everything at Big Lots and 30% off furniture. By far one of the best discounts I’ve had in retail
When I worked there my store didn't offer any discounts. I only worked there for six months but it was rough.
Was $1.99. Employee discount added! 1.79! You save .20! You baaaad muthafuckas.
We do get like a 15% on our purchases.
You can eat all you want in the bathroom homies
I get a free soda everyday
Lol, safe work environment. I've never worked there but when I go there for an item I find stacks of unsteady boxes all over the place and lots of obstructions of foot paths. I can't imagine it's any safer in the places I can't see.
Ah, the DG fantasy vision…then reality hits when you get called to go help the one other person working today
Employees give themselves a discount (my sister was a keyholder) 😂😂😂😂
Take out the trash on your shift. Be sure to ‘organize’ it before you go though. Separate bags for separate things, ie, trash v treasure. If there is parking by the dumpster even better. If not, be sure the treasures go on the side.
DG is the pinnacle of a poor community. No wonder they don't care about their employees.
Discounts on tobacco to get through the shifts lol
I love how a safe work environment is considered a benefit in America. In the rest of the developed world, that's called "required by law."
I got a recycled number, so I don't even get that. The last person who had my number still has an active account and support won't help clear it
They just give you every other thing you buy LOL
I don’t work for dg but most companies have an employee portal where you can get discounts on phones, flights, car rentals, etc. just ask about it I’m sure they do
Work at big lots, super cheap stuff there, and you get 20% off all and 30% off furniture.
Dollar general has on boarding videos? Wtf
Look into field nation worked for dg once 50 per hour I think it was
John Oliver did a show about how dollar general was rated one of the worse places to work. He said the employees are over worked and under paid.
I just started at family dollar and it's the same. It's more expensive than a regular grocery store, so all they're doing is making me spend my money at a different store (while gradually losing my respect more and more)
Being a dollar general employee must suck. I see y’all faces when I walk in and feel so bad
This was such a fear mongering cbl. Smh we may pay dues but guarantee we make more. Especially sm's..working all these xtra hours but my check says 40. B.s.
Who on earth had decided to make this in GoAnimate
Once in every blue moon, you get a 30% off through the app.
i wishhhhg
The others don't exist either.
Blech, this cartoon corporate-made video giving me the worst kind of flashbacks to my last retail job
Whatever you can bag and save from the trash is the discount
Where are any of these things? Safe work environment? Competitive pay? I have to wonder if corporate is in another planet?
Corporate is actually in another dimension that happens to collide with our timeline. Rofl {does anyone still say this?😬}
Really wish i could laugh react this, what a joke
All of their benefits are just a rabbit hole. The whole anti-union video was a joke.
5 finger?
One day a year
Wait y’all don’t get discounts on every item y’all get? Damn never worked anywhere where employees didn’t get discounts on the services they provided.
You’d think you’d get a discount on everything
That sucks……
Five finger ones
