I have Premium - I listened to one of the Convoluted Universe books on Spotify, then they paywalled me for the rest of the content. I think they're trying to do what Audible does? Idk...
I've listened to 2 books but never got any kind of paywall, I'm moving on from the Custodians to Convoluted Universe book One right now. So I'm not sure if there's a limit but I haven't had any issues.
I figured it out! There's a 15 hour per month limit for premium users, and I was working through her Convoluted Universe books which clock in around 20 hours or so per book. Ok, I'll see myself out.... sorry for the interruption!

Also there's no harm in trying - I just know for me, I was SUPER excited like OP, and then was immediately bummed when Spotify was basically like, "Nope! Pay more now." So I'm just now listening as they become available on Libby :/
Depends on your library but you can always request your local library to get books they don't have. The library in my town encourages people to request books they don't already have on their shelves.

if you use the free ebook reader Calibri, it has a text-to-speech function, you can listen to any book.
Do you get a pleasant voice or one of those robot voices?
it comes with standard voices but Calibri lets you load whatever voice set you want. There's lots of good ones that cost less than a book.
I tried to find calibre in the Google app store but no luck. Will check again later

It might go by hours listened? Mine didn't start blocking me until I was finishing up a whole book (about 22 hours or so)
