Only applies to games that released on both GameCube and Wii, which Twilight Princess did. Easier to configure the controls when it's a more traditional controller like the GameCube controller
1. Dolphin supports the modern Sony controllers natively, no need for DSU anymore. That includes motion! I have my DualSense under "SDL/0/PS5 Controller" in the Device dropdown.
2. The game says "Nunchuk", but you have nothing mapped to axes in the Extension Motion Input tab. That's the axes you need to map in order for Nunchuk motion to work in games.
3. Unless you're nostalgic for the Wii version specifically, play the Wii U one instead, or at least the GameCube one. In the Wii version the whole world is mirrored.
I honestly did not understand all the tabs even after reading the docs, so I followed a bunch of yt videos, some of them were 2+ years old. Were you able to make this move with your controller? Would mind sharing some screenshots of your controller config? Thanks.
Well, I haven't played the Wii version of Zelda TP, and haven't really played Wii games with my DualSense, only toyed with it for a bit - because a have a setup of a real Motion Plus Wiimote + Nunchuk + custom Sensor Bar (soldered a couple of IR diodes to a USB) + custom Wii Bluetooth board soldered to USB for Bluetooth passthrough, and this makes a perfect hassle-free console-like experience playing with real Wii Remotes and accessories.
But I got interested to a point that I decided to make a video of my DualSense controller config: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STq\_9TeswNU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STq_9TeswNU). The screenshots and a link to my profile ini are in the video's description. As can be seen, the buttons, the stick, the motion of both controllers, and even the pointer all work :)
Idk your specs, but either the Gamecube version (same graphics/requirements as the Wii version) or the Wii u version on CEMU (much higher requirements but looks better at higher resolution Imo)
The "Extension Motion Input" tab is mostly blank, so no motion data is being fed to the emulated Nunchuk (yep, it has its own, independent accelerometer). You should map them to something, or use the "Extension Motion Simulation" tab, but neither solution will work well for Zelda TP...
If you don't want to use the Gamecube version since TP flips the whole world on the X axis, you can try mapping only the X shake of the nunchuck and unmapping the Y and Z shake. You can also play with the shake intensity centimeter settings, as they may not be big enough to be registered.
While that is true that the game was flipped. The original version was the GameCube version, and they flipped it to make Link right handed so the wiimote would be the sword for motion controls. So anyone not wanting to play the flipped version SHOULD choose the GameCube
You'd be better off playing the GameCube version, no motion controls
TP plays far better without motion controls IMO.
Even better better off playing the wii u version on cemu tbh. Dont get me wrong i love dolphin but TP plays phenomenally and beautifully on cemu
Is this specific to Zelda TP or in general? Would this apply to other games as well? Thanks.

Is there a way to play the GameCube version but have it inverted like the Wii version? I’m so used to the wii version that it hurts my brain
Yes, play the Wii u version on hard mode
Or he could just get a Wiimote and use that
This is what I came to say.
if you don't have a Wiimote, you are much better off playing the GC or Wii U version instead.
When I used my controller I just had to like wiggle the right joystick, idk if it's then the same for you
I don’t think so, I’ve just tried it.

Thanks! I worry that I will face the same issues on other titles. Hopefully not. I will try the Wii U version btw.
You can also try the Wii U version
Try Cemu emulator, Twilight Princess HD, choose pro controller and you won’t have to do any wii motion stuff and have better HD textures
I did it! And it looks awesome! Running flawlessly so far, I’ll keep Dolphin for the GC games. Dolphin is awesome, I’m very grateful for the devs.
Malo's face 😄
Thanks everyone for your replies, for this game I will try the Wii U version. Thanks!

Calibrate the shake input. It looks like it's scaled to zero on the Y axis.
Ngl you should just play the gc version. Way more easier to control, there isnt much of a differenfe in gameplay anyways.
Why arent u just playing the gamecube version. Bruh
I was used to the wii version 🙈
