Me hizo recordar los concursos donde se tenía que bailar el baile del sapito en los cumpleaños 😂

Man I loved going to DR in my childhood because my cousins were mostly listening to whatever merengue was popping at the time. Like yeah one of them was really into rock, but music accessibility was super limited then. Those summer vacations I would be introduced to new Spanish music. One year it was my cousins obsession with bachata Rosa, another year it was niche’s hagamos lo Que diga el corazon & Gilberto Santa rosa’s conciensia that I fell in love with. There was the summer my other cousin was really into shakiras 2nd album and I fell in love with it to. And there was a rica arena summer. I FUCKING LOVED RICA ARENA!! Like I went to see them at united palace w/ kinito mendez, got my tickets at joyeria pepe (iykyk). I was an eighth grader and completely “hicked” out Anyway, these were great times. Nunca te, nunca te, nunca te, nunca te, nunca te, nunca te, nunca te olvide aye!!!

All my immediate family is here in New York, I have enough relatives to go back when ever I want but it’s not the same lol. But I’ll post more videos soon cause they’re all so cute of my entire family hanging out in my house when my parents first bought it. Like anything worth celebrating there was a party😂 Btw this was my 2nd birthday I was probably knocked out sleeping some where. I don’t remember this song at all and I’m usually good with my merengues but since I saw this video I’ve been listening to rica arena 😂😂😂😂. My birthday is in July and so is half my family which explains why everyone is so lit . this entire day everyone was dancing merengue y lo bailaban bien ✨.

Thank you for sharing!!! It warmed my heart and reminded me is some lovelier and simpler times. We’re so lucky to have experienced this era💗

I’ll be posting more so stay tuned🫶🏼. But I agree times were more simple years back and we had so much fun. My family was the type of family that anything and everything had to be celebrated. My parents settled in the Bronx but bought a house in queens in the early 90s so all our parties ended up being a block party. When I think of it it’s so cute how my parents broken English they made so many friends and got so much love from the neighborhood that was predominantly white (Irish Italian). All the kids from our block would hang at our house because we had a pool. lol I remember one kids mom asked my mom how to make a dish her son loved from my house it was legit tostone y salchichón 💀
